Prices are a little higher than what they should be. When you finally get your order they set it in a 3'x3' section of counter that is also where you supposed to add your condiments . meanwhile people are pushing to pick up their trays from the same little area. Moved to the area at the beginning of March and this was the first place we stopped to get a bite to eat the day after moving in. We sat down for lunch, my husband, daughter and I, and it was a great experience for us all. The food was delicious (our 1 yr old ate her entire plate, which rarely happens) and the Atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The staff were polite, patient, and courteous. The tables, floor and bathroom were clean. The view out to the harbor and lake were incredible. Not worth the money!!! Portion size was shocking! $7.95 for a extra small sandwich. I ordered the #8 smokestack. It had zero flavor, Dijon mustard was also substandard! Gouda cheese was more like a cheap American cheese food! Ugh! "Smoked" turkey was maybe 1.5ozs and the "smoked"ham was maybe 1.oz. And they both had the flavor of cheap Walmart lunch meat! Seriously... can't believe this place! The rye bread was dried out too! I should've complained while I was there. I'm my opinion this place is a mom and pop shop! All related family working here. I was here for breakfast. I ordered a sweet roll, the server dropped it upside down on the counter and tried to serve it, I told her give me another one please. So I had breakfast and sat outside watching the boaters and had to listen to music from the 1940s....This place plays the 40s channel there...It gave me a headache, so I went inside and asked if they could change the station. A woman behind the counter said they always play music from the 1940s on Sunday morning but they change it at 11am.....I'm there for breakfast at 7:30...She can't change the station for a paying customer who asked her nicely ? Dockside deli is the best. I have eaten here for over 6 years. Everything is from scratch and always fresh. From the omelets at breakfast with just about anything you want added to the sandwiches and soups. My favorite, as well as my entire family, is the 3 cheese grill cheese on sourdough! Match that with a cup of homemade soup and you have the dream meal. If this doesn't fill you up then you must have one of the wide selection of desserts. I think I have had them all over the years. Why do I come to Dock Side Deli? Let me count the reasons. In no order of importance. 1. Great assortment of coffees. My favor is macadamia nut chocolate. 2. Great assortment of coffee creamers. My favorite is white chocolate. 3. Big slices of toast. My favorite is raisin toast followed by sour dough. 4. Great red skin potatoes. Made crispy but not burnt. 5. Two eggs over easy made with the whites cooked but with egg yoke fluid. 6. Great pastries like cinnamon rolls, bread pudding, peach bread pudding... 7. Great great atmosphere. In the summer time I sit outside next to the marina. In the winter I sit next to the windows looking out over Lake Michigan. You get to see the joggers, boaters, fish jumping out of the water. 8. And last but not least, great service. I love the people. They take such great care of me when ordering and if I have special needs. Excellent sandwiches, bakery fresh bread, premium meats and cheese. Special of the day is truly a special, usually not a reular menu item. Such as...Lobster rolls, outstanding!, this at a Lake Michigan view restaurant that with a little bit of imagination looks like you are at a cafe on the coast of Maine. Fresh made soups, are as great as the best homemade. Different offerings of soup daily. Bakery sweets for dessert or just with a cup of coffee are a must. As close to the marina as a deli can get without actually running the operation off of a boat (address is actually 222 E. Main Street). It sits in the corner of a little strippish type mall right next to the commercial and guest slip portion of the marina, so its great for the boating crowd and anyone else just hanging out in the marina. Soups and sandwiches are very good (clam chowder and reubens are my fav), and the pastries, especially muffins, for brekky are also good. Couple of different flavors of coffee, self serve from those pump-caraf type of containers, keeps it hot enough. Small kitchen/food prep area, sort of right out in the open behind the counter, and a small group of people working in there who really have their operation down pat. Took a bike ride from Cedarburg through Port Washington and stopped by the Dockside Deli for lunch. Biked 26 miles but still made it a point to have our face masks in our backpack in light of the COVID-19 environment. As we parked our bikes and donned our face masks to walk in and grab a sandwich for take out to sit by the marina, we were confronted with a restaurant full of inconsiderate narcissistic restaurant patrons and WORKERS not wearing masks. Against my better better judgement, I stood in line as far apart as I could (because the establishment took no precautions whatsoever to care for the regard of their customers) and ordered food as the only patron wearing a face covering. Much to my surprise when I approached the counter to order my food, the order taker DID NOT even have a face covering. It was almost frowned upon to wear a mask. Don't make the mistake of going near closing. I was wondering why the gal at the counter was rude and curt, only to then realize I ordered my to-go sandwich a few minutes before their closing time. Dockside is a great location. I often meet up with family members there to catch up. I have my favorites that I have ordered for over 8 years... breakfast, eggs, ham and cheese on multigrain bread- and for lunch, three cheese with ham on multigrain. Used to be GREAT sandwiches and I really looked forward to eating there. New owners have changed the ham-ugh! They no longer serve my favorite sandwiches with shaved ham, but use thicker cut ham-yuck. I thought maybe it was just a temporary change so tried again- same kind of yuckie ham. And the last time I had a grilled cheese (plain, because I cant stand the ham anymore), whatever they grilled it on/in was old oil. The whole sandwich had the smell and taste of a bottle of oil that you find in the back of your cabinet after it was hiding for a year. They should check the oil once in a while- or eat something themselves so they know what they are serving and how it tastes. As far as cleanliness that other reviewers have mentioned in the past, I have always found it to be mostly clean and comfortable as far as atmosphere (both old and new owners). The view was nice, the place was cute and clean. The food was ok. Ordered the turkey with harvatti and dill mayo. It just came with one thin price of lettuce and a heap of turkey and the cheese. The turkey seemed low end and the pickle was terrible...no chips or cole slaw. My bill was over $10.00 for the sandwich and a soda. Service was friendly but slow. Staff is rude! Came in 10 minutes before close on 10/5/19. There were three people behind the counter. One person facing us but working on cleaning. One person w her side to us...and one w her back to us. I saw the 2 (not cleaning) look at us but no one turned to us or spoke to us. We wanted a cookie.. that's it. Waited a few minutes then walked out. Then 1 of them walked to the register. We could see her right as we got out the door. The staff has never been overly friendly but this is plain rude. I actually really liked the food here despite what my expections were. I had the veggie wrap and it was delish. The cream cheese and hummus could have been distributed more evenly but that's splittting hairs. The oven roasted turkey was also really good. The cabbage with smoked sausage soup was great - even though it just had one piece of sausage and we even got to talk to the cook who asked what we thought of it. The portions were a tad underwhelming but the taste made up for it. (Imagine child-size portions. 'Cuz that's what you're looking at...) Below average. I got the American club. The sandwich was large but comprised of low quality ingredients. The bread was low quality white that crumbled in my hand.
