It's a mini Airstream parked off the main street, and there strung up lights and picnic tables. We ordered: +a scoop of Butter Pecan on a waffle cone +a scoop of Caramel Collision on a kiddie cone - this was caramel ice cream with caramel swirls and chocolate coated caramel mini cups The ice cream was okay, but not sure if they are keeping the freezer cold enough; it was already melting when the employees were handing the cones to us. The big thing: I just thought it was super gross that the employees who were preparing the ice cream treats/cones were not using gloves; the kiddie cones didn't have a paper slip since it was too small, but the waffle cones did, and the employees were still handling it incorrectly. UGH. I'm glad I was able to check this place out, but the sanitary situation was just a bit too much for me. +gloveless handling of ice cream/cones

I was so excited to see they had my fave flavor (Blue Moon) here. I enjoyed my Waffle cone. I was intrigued by the floats and donuts, but just stuck with the cone. Items came out pretty quickly for how busy it was. If you have an ice cream craving near the lake, this spot did not disappoint!

The "best" local place that was open in January was The Chocolate Chisel. My family and I stopped and each got a cone. I also got three truffles. The truffles I bought were chai tea milk, experimint milk (ganache with peppermint extract), and peppermint hot chocolate. The chai tea and experimint milk truffles both tasted like they should based on their descriptions, but I wouldn't wantto buy either again. The peppermint hot chocolate had some crushed peppermint on top, but other than the chocolate being in the shape of a mug, nothing about it reminded me of hot chocolate. Ultimately I don't think any of them were worth the price. The ice cream was lackluster. Both of my kids got cookies and cream in a cake cone and thought it was skimpy on the cookies part. My wife and I sprung for waffle cones with ours and were both disappointed in the excessive cone to ice cream ratio that heavily favored the cone. She got plain chocolate and it was fine. I, however, got banana-rama and ended up throwing it out because it tasted more like butter pecan than anything banana related. I even went back inside and verified with the employee that it wasn't mislabeled in the case.

OK so...why am I reviewing a local chain restaurant? Well, I honestly go here way too often since…read moreI live SO close, but lately something has been amiss! The food is exactly as you expect. Greasy delicious butter burgers (get the deluxe for at least some semblance of vegetables), good custard / shakes / malts, the BUFFALO CHICKEN TENDERS, etc. Overall I am normally somewhat disappointed by their flavor of the days - they are mostly something you could create on your own with their available mix ins with a chocolate or vanilla base. I want that flavor to be more special, you know? The custard is not as good as one of the more "local" places around, but really it is so (some might say TOO) convenient. Lately though, the service has been sooooo slow at this location. I don't know if they are just short staffed or what, but around dinner time you can expect a 30-45 min wait for your food. I have tried to get around this by preordering online, which seems to help. But be wary if you are ordering during prime time without that.

Not just our order either, as we could look around the dining area and there were 6 other tables with folks waiting for their food....essentially nobody in the dining area had food, and a long period went by with nobody coming out to/delivering any food to the dining area. One of the staff spent some time chatting with one of the guests....tables not well cleaned either. When our food was finally delivered the staff member just plopped the tray on our table and walked off - no "thanks for waiting" or "sorry for the wait" or even "here you go"....really odd. Perhaps an off day for this restaurant but this was by a large measure the worst service we have ever had at any Culver's.
