Great little place. We've been coming to PW for many years and I don't know how we've overlooked this place. Came for brunch. The omelets are amazing. They are huge. They have plenty of ingredients and cheese. The potato side was also amazing. Crispy little cubes of delight. The staff was very friendly. The inside of the cafe is cute. This deli is indeed dock side and is a picaresque place to break your fast. Located directly in the Port Washington marina east of the downtown it provides a breakfast and lunch menu. The service was fine but you do order at a counter and they bring your food. The location really makes the place with lots to look at around the marina area. I tried the short stack of buttermilk pancakes and my partner had the Fork and Knife Cheddar Biscuit. My cakes were fine and superior to most places in the area but they were not as light and fluffy as I prefer. The syrup was your typical non-real artificial kind. I need to start bringing my own. I had a bite of the biscuit and it was the better pick with a delicious hollandaise and eggs cooked perfectly as requested. What a great little deli that has amazing sandwiches, soup, pasta salads, and ice cream. The employees are amazing! Every time I go to visit my parents in Port Washington, we stop here for lunch. Just a little side note.....I have called Dockside Deli two years in a row now to purchase a gift card for my parents. They happily mail the gift card to me in Indiana so I can give it to my parents at Christmas. The food is amazing. The view and ambiance is just everything you'd want out of a calm port Washington lunch spot. My fiancé and I are apart of the LGBTQ+ community and they always make us feel welcome and accepted which is always a plus to not feel like you're stared at the whole meal or to feel like the whole restaurant is talking bad about you. They're just so kind here. My family lives out here and we always come back because the workers are just so sweet and kind and not just here but the whole town. The service is always making you feel like the day is gonna be good and you're a friend they know. I always go for a simple BLT but my family gets a variety of different sandwiches and they all taste and look so good. I know it may just be a deli shop but is better than any fast food/chain deli/sub place. Definitely support this local star spot! read more

We stumbled upon this little gem while on our way to the Northwoods of WI. We just happened to be passing through Port Washington and a Google search grabbed our attention. It's tucked into a marina, in a small strip mall style building. Parking seemed like it could be difficult at times, but we got lucky and found a spot right in front of the door. We walked into a bright deli-style cafe, with glass display cases and a counter service. We promptly ordered our food and found a seat in the dining room, which provided a beautiful view of the marina. I ordered the special of the day, which was a grilled pepperoni, ham, and turkey sandwich with caramelized onions and mayo on sourdough. My wife ordered a beef, broccoli, and mushroom soup and my daughter a ham and cheese on sourdough. All of the food was really good!!! Not much more to say...cool place, great food! We were back on our way after a quick lunch, but this place convinced us of a need to explore Port Washington a bit more. We'll definately stop here again when we do. read more

I am definitely a fan of the Dockside Deli. I have enjoyed many of the soups, which change daily and are updated on their website daily. They offer some unique sandwiches, as well as ice cream! It is on the pricer side for "deli" food but it is worth it between quality of food and the atmosphere. This is the place to get lunch on a warm spring/summer/fall day. There is a bean bag toss set outside for patrons to use right on the marina walkway. There are many tables outside, where you can relax and take in the picturesque view of the harbor. I feel lucky to work near Dockside Deli and can enjoy the soups, especially now that it is getting colder. They often run out of soup so get there before 12:15pm to ensure you can order the flavor you want. read more

I ordered a side of hash browns, the gargoyle looking creature behind the counter ask what my name was, I was the only customer in the place. Decorated with cheesy wal mart style tin fish, nothing with real character it had a sterilized hospital like atmosphere and abrasive new age rock playing. My first instinct was to make for the windows out back, I stepped outside to a patio littered with plastic furniture. I went back in and perused, I ask if they make their own goodies as they had pies and sweets, the guy said plainly we don't make all of them. I'm assuming since he didn't say he made anything that it's all store bought like the decor. The hash browns were burnt to a crisp, no soft shredded potatoes beneath, it was like a toupee of black char. One quarter of a potatoes worth, and that's being nice. If your looking for a friendly plac, this is no ma and pa's place. Likely they put ma and pa out of business to build the atrocious strip mall right in port central... A disgrace to the beautiful architecture that once blessed these mighty shores. It took 2 cooks and one gargoyle to create this experience, hey if you like gargoyles and burnt potatoes toupees fit for a midget this is the place to be. read more

Disappointed that gift certificates aren't accepted from the past. My wife is a local teacher and received dozens of them and we've tried to use them in the past but now they are no longer accepting them. We found them in a box of other gift certificates when we moved and wanted to use them up. The gift certificate shows no expiration date but I was told they won't accept it. Rather unfortunate for a place to turn away gift certificates issued from their own restaurant. Food was decent but it'll be my first and last visit based on this. read more

Its kind of order, then go back to counter to pick up & bus your own table when ur done. Prices are very high. ( paying for ambience of the harbor area with all of its fancy shops, also the great views of lake Michigan, but the food is of high quality and very good.) Stopped here for a weekend lunch with 2 other people. It doesn't look like much from the outside (thought it would be more hole-in-wall), but the interior is nice and pretty large. I got the lobster roll special, and it came with a side of fruit. The lobster roll was super delicious! Served on a thick piece of split bread that is toasted. The only complaint was that the roll was pretty small, but I'd rather have a delicious sandwich than a huge sandwich. The fruit was a typical fruit mix, but the honeydew was super ripe and stood out. Hubs got a cold sandwich that he thought was good, not great. I am planning on coming back to try something else off their large menu! read more

I used to love this place. Came here for lunch weekly when I worked in Port. Something definitely changed after they expanded - someone told me the original owner sold it, so maybe that's it?! I love their veggie wrap which is now half the size it used to be. They used to have THE BEST tuna salad sandwich... Always all white albacore, not fishy at all. Now not so much. Now it can be a mix and is usually packed with onions and has a heavy fishy smell. Breaks my heart. The pickles used to be awesome, now you never know what you're going to get - a regular dill, a sweet one, or heck sometimes they throw ONE round sliced sandwich pickle on your tray?! It always seems dirty, the floor is usually filled with crumbs and food... Like no one runs a quick vacuum through after the breakfast rush? There is a lady there who has glasses with brown short wavy hair who's been there since I can remember - she is so rude. I used to say to my husband, why do they keep her she hates her job and is rude and annoyed when asked questions... Makes it hard to pay for lunch there. read more

The deli is located next to the marina in Port Washington. They make many of the items that they serve from scratch, including some of the spreads, salads and desserts. Since they do make your sandwich to order, service can be a little slower than most places but you can call your order in for pickup. Service is hit or miss at the counter - nothing to write home about but no one has ever been rude either. Some of the items are so-so but the real standout is one of their specialty sandwiches, the Harbormaster ($6.25). It has smoked turkey, creamy Havarti cheese, lettuce and homemade dill and shallot mayo on their own sourdough bread. The sandwich is generous and comes with a pickle. I typically eat half and save the other half for dinner or lunch the following day. I have never been disappointed when ordering the Harbormaster. I used to enjoy their New England Clam Chowder on Fridays, however last time I ordered they heated it up in the microwave and the quality was not as high as I had experienced in the past. This is a nice stop in the afternoon for a lunch by the lake. Just make sure you have a little extra time to spare if they are busy. read more

Not a very friendly place. Ask them to turn down the volume of the music twice and I was told that they are not allowed to to. When we came in it was pleasant and suddenly got very loud. You could feel the vibration. So let them have their loud music and give a damn attitude towards their customers Port Washington has better places to eat. read more

I would be able to give this place a much better rating if it was only about the food, but unfortunately every other aspect of their service is terrible. I have been here several times. I drive up from Milwaukee to go to Lion's Den for a hike, then drive down to the lighthouse in Port Washington to walk out. Dockside Deli is an easy place to stop at for food because it's right there. If it were only about the food this place is alright. Food isn't bad, it's not too expensive either. They have good sandwiches and soups and bakery items. The problem is that the staff here seem to be terrible at actually doing their job..? Every time I have been here the floor is COVERED in garbage. It seems like no one ever checks? I'm talking chunks of food, crumbs, silverware, butter and jelly packets, wrappers, napkins... All over the floor. It literally disgusts me so much I can't eat inside regardless of weather outside. Last time there was toilet paper all over the bathroom floor and the ground was also all wet. When it comes to ordering food it's totally chaotic. There's no spot to really stand out of everyone's way while waiting, and then they have no organized system of getting customer's orders one at a time.its also nearly impossible to get ice cream there. You have to be crammed between the ice cream section and the wall and every single time I've been there the employees fail to notice me (or choose not to) standing directly in front of the counter looking at them. It's always teenage kids working there and it seems like they are not properly trained at all. They always seem friendly at least but again ... Terrible at their actual job. Overall I will probably still grab food here if I'm walking to the lighthouse. If I had any other quick and cheap option I'd go somewhere else, but for now I'll just go in, refuse to look at the floor, and find a way to keep myself entertained while waiting in line for 15 minutes. read more

Growing up in Port Washington I used to LOVE the Dockside Deli. It has always been one my must haves every time I come to visit home. I'm not sure if the quality of the food has changed as owners have come and gone, or if I've just experienced better food as the years go on-but it just doesn't seem as good as it used to. Recently I went there with my dad and we had to wait forever for our food. Once it came it was just ok. Port is changing (for the better) and there are much better food choices in the area now. My family loves to visit Port Washington, it's such a pretty town on Lake Michigan. Dockside Deli used to be a highlight for the last 15 years. Beautiful location, really good food, loved their sandwiches and pickles. It seems like maybe it was sold 4 or 5 years ago? The food has become "meh" (a large amount of stale bread or a huge tortilla "wrap" with meager, boring fillings, generic jarred pickle spears, likely Sysco soups, etc). Such a shame that it's become dependent upon it's gorgeous location rather than the quality of their food. I've seen great reviews regarding the breakfasts, so maybe it's just that my family only gets there around lunch that makes my experience different? We cruise to Port Washington several times a year. We have always found Dockside Deli to be extremely busy at lunch time but never stopped in. This time I wanted a sandwich to take to the boat for lunch and decided to stop. I got a Shamwich number 8. It was a warm corned beef sandwich. I have eaten a lot of corned beef sandwichs over the years and this was the best I have had outside of Carnegie Deli in New York. I've only been down to the Deli once but the food was good! I am a vegetarian and I got a veggie wrap. As other posters have mentioned it did take a very long time to make. The other members of my party had their sandwiches long before I did, so I took my pager up the front twice just to make sure it was working. I wont complain about the time it took to make the food because it was nice to have something that wasn't fast food or mass produced assembly line style. What I was disappointed in was the fact that while I went up to see if my food was ready, I could see them making the food. The hummus they used was just Athenos brand like you can buy at pick n save. The tortillas were store bought too. When I go to a restaurant I expect it to be something special and not something i could have created myself. It would have been nice to have some freshly made food. idk. for the price i thought they might make it on their own. I also wish (for the price) that our wraps and sandwiches came with a side. This location is perfect for the view and patio. They have quite a variety of hot, cold, and grilled sandwiches along with soups and ice cream. The sourdough bread was really impressive.The turkey was good (and there was a generous portion) but the sandwich lacked anything else interesting. So I was in Port Washington for work, and noticed this little deli sitting in a strip mall right off the marina. The location could not be anymore picturesque. The interior is simple, pretty much exactly what you'd expect a deli to look like. The seating is good for singles and small groups. They're also seemed to be a basement area, but I have yet to explore it. The food was top notch. I've had a few sandwiches from there of the Italian heavy on the meat variety, and they've all been delicious. They're are plenty of sides (pasta, potato and another type of salad I've forgotten) and little snacks and desserts to go with your meal. The staff is friendly and respectful, and your food comes fast. This place is quickly becoming my go to lunch spot when in Port Washington. read more
