When my husband and I lived in Beaufort we would always take family here when they would come and see us. Dockside is by far one of the best restaurants in the Beaufort area, the wait time is always pretty quick even on a busy night! Everything on the menu is AWESOME! So now that we live in the Augusta area we don't get dockside all that often so when we decided to come to visit some friends we knew we had to go and visit the good ole dockside! We got the buffalo oysters app so good! Spicy creamy and crunchy! My husband got the friend shrimp platter and I got the scored flounder. there are a few places that do scored flouder... all do an amazing job of it! Kinda loud but I'm getting old and we were without the kids for once so this stood out. Crab cakes are a must and the service was great. Everything was fast and fresh. It was a very good experience. The hush puppies were worth it and much to my surprise both the chocolate mousse cake and bourbon pecan pies passed the test. Make sure you get the fries. Our first mistake was waiting for more than 2 hours for a seat. Our second mistake was not leaving after the waitress was unbelievably rude to us- before we even got our drinks. We had to ask for every single drink refill. Sometimes multiple times. I finally gave up and waited for my ice cubes to melt. Going on hour three we were seated but no food. Hour four saw food brought out for everyone but me. Shortly after that I did receive my plate. My food was cold. Cold corn. Cold baked potato. Cold chicken. Plate was warm. But the butter wouldn't even melt on my potato. Waitress was apologetic (finally). Took my meal off the bill as everyone had finished by the time I got her attention to let her know everything was cold. Still it was $150 with tip. Yes I tipped because I used to be a server. We got in immediately and the restaurant was busy. The atmosphere was super and the view was spectacular! We all had different meals, steak, linguine, seafood boil, grilled shrimp and the pick two(fried scallops and fried shrimp). The appetizers were delicious. We had the calamari and the mushrooms. We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we went there twice during our 4-day visit. We didn't make reservations, so we had to wait a short time on our first visit and a longer time on our second, but it was worth the wait. The restaurant is spacious and casual, with marvelous views and a very casual ambiance. Large groups comfortably fit in without overwhelming the couples seated nearby, which was nice for the two of us. But my high rating is due to the excellent food and service. All the servers seem to be experienced professionals, always appearing when you need them. My first evening I had the nightly special, which was soft shell crab. It may have been the best soft shell I'd ever had--every bite was scrumptious. My partner had the crispy scored flounder, which I tasted and, on my next visit, ordered for myself. The sides are generous portions and so we didn't order any extras and still went home fully satisfied. We will definitely return on our next visit to the Beaufort area. read more

After a long day of touring Charleston, we swung by Beaufort to find dinner on our way back to Savannah. What a gem we found! This restaurant was crowded for a Monday night so we sat at the bar. The male bartender (wish I could remember his name) gave us some great food suggestions and was friendly and attentive the whole time. I ordered the bourbon glazed salmon, which was huge and delicious. The glaze was tasty but there was a little too much on the fish and it took away from the perfection of this salmon. I scraped some of it off and it was perfect! My husband ordered the grilled swordfish. It was delicious but so big he couldn't finish. The fresh green beans served on the side were flavorful. The baked potato was just that. Our bill was so reasonable for the seafood dinner we had. It's clearly a popular place and I can see why. Next time we'll wait for a window table so we can watch the sunset over the water. Absolutely lovely! read more

I also tried the gator colada it was very yummy but I didn't feel of taste much alcohol. My partner got the crab boil and said it was overdone but ate it regardless. The fries that came with the food were great. I got the flounder and I just felt like everything needed seasoning it was bland. Same with the catfish my mom ordered.
