I got a egg and cheese bagel and it was okaaay. The reason I am reviewing with such low stars is because I have never in my life gone to a bagel shop, especially in the morning, and been given day-old stale bagels! The bagel I had was definitely not fresh. I find that pretty ridiculous considering that I paid almost $6 for my stale bagel because it had egg and cheese in it. I like Doc's Bagels better than Noah's because they're chewier. $.70 each or about $6.75 for a dozen- a little bit cheaper than Noah's too. Crowded in the morning with people getting their breakfast coffee, and In the lunch hour, there are lots of students NDB, Carlmont, and NDNU. They don't have outdoor seating, so if it's a nice day, you have to go to the park! read more

This is my coffee/bagel place. No espresso machine. Usually get the everything breakfast with avocado and sausage on a cheese bagel. No onion. This place is homely and has a more local feel as opposed to the Starbucks down the way. read more

I've been going there for years. Awesome bagels, breakfast burritos and regular sandwiches too. My favorites are the breakfast burrito with sausage and avocado in the morning and an egg salad with sprouts on an everything bagel at lunch. Doc's is very inexpensive, and provides decent bagels/bagel combos. Every once in a while we will bring a bunch of our friends down here for breakfast, and they are always very quick to accommodate. I am a huge fan of jalapeño bagels, but unfortunately did not really get a whole lot of jalapeño flavor from it. It was essentially the same as the plain bagel, with maybe a tiny hint of spice. Regardless of your bagel choice, the sandwich will still be decent. They have a few refrigerators with different kinds of juice and drink, along with some pretty decent coffee on a counter near checkout. There are a good amount of seating options, both inside and out that will fit your fancy. It's a nice place to grab a quick, cheap breakfast every once in a while, but will definitely not blow your pants off. Oh yeah, the people that work here are very friendly. read more

I stumbled across Doc's after a mani/pedi appointment at Bella Nails. I was absolutely ravenous and needed a quick meal before heading to a friend's wedding rehearsal. I ordered their salami sandwich on wheat bread with tomatoes, lettuce, and red onion. I don't know what it is about deli salami and freshly sliced produce, but this sandwich hit the spot in a way that typically only the salami at Deli & Catering in the FiDi usually hits me. I was beyond happy and was almost tempted to order another sandwich, but then remembered I had to fit into a form-fitting maid of honor dress the next day. Ah well. The deli's intimate interior and hole in the wall atmosphere were also very enjoyable. If I'm up in Belmont again, I'll probably be back. read more

The bagels themselves are good but they REALLY skimp on the veggie toppings. I paid 50 cents for cucumbers and got 2 thin slices. When I asked if they could put a a normal amount of veggies in it, they said, "it doesn't work that way". Huh? They're also almost always out of spinach bagels even in the morning. I don't get it. I like Docs. The bagels are very good, as everyone says, prepared just right and authentic. I love the everything the sesame. I don't get them toasted because they are so fresh. We usually get enough to take home and toast the next day. Two small complaints: Cash only, which makes me suspicious... but I think the credit card agencies are sticking it to the merchants and it is expensive for these small businesses to take credit cards. Also, they will give you a baker's dozen if you ask, but only 12 if you don't. I like it when a merchant gives you that little extra because they want to. Other than that, they are nice. There's a few things that California does well....the weather, the fresh produce, the relaxed atmosphere....bagels on the other hand not so much. I was heading to work the other day and decided to get my fix of an egg and cheese. I stopped in here because my coworker loves this place. I was disappointed. The everything bagel was flavorless and doughy. There was a good ratio of egg and cheese, but once again, no flavor. Best Lox bagel I've ever had and I normally don't like lox at all. I think it's the other ingredient they put on it that makes it so delicious. They put cream cheese, lox, fresh tomato slices, capers, thinly sliced red onions. And they are very generous with the amounts, not too much not too skimpy, just right. While their lox bagel is truly amazing, their bagels alone stand on their own, they are that good. You could probably have a plain one without cream cheese and it would be just as satisfying. read more

I agree with some of the reviews I've seen here. The bagel was fresh, so that's great. But I got a deli sandwich on a bagel, just comes with tomatoes and lettuce, so I had to pay $.50 extra if I wanted onions. The name brand ice tea I've gotten at other delis was more expensive, also. This review is a long time coming and I am not sure why I had not written one earlier. In a nutshell, if you are looking for a "real" bagel, this is the place. A real bagel, to me, is one like the bagels that are served in New York City, not the soft, mushy bagels you get from the chains. A real bagel is boiled and then baked so that the entire outside has a nice firm crust on the outside. I have eaten at many bagel places in my lifetime and this is truly one of the best, and am very fortunate to live only a few minutes away. But, the true testament of how good their bagels are came late last year when my uncle visited me from the east coast. Now, my uncle was born and raised in Brooklyn and spent most of his life in New York. He has eaten many thousands of bagels in his lifetime, no exaggeration. When he tried the bagels from Doc's he was extremely happy, to say the least. He loved them so much, he stopped by every morning he was here for over a week to get fresh ones. I always knew they were great bagels, but my uncle's opinion really says it all. I also buy their cream cheese spreads and find them quite delicious each and every time. The folks working there are also very friendly and the prices are more than fair. So, if you are looking for "real" bagels of many different flavors, this is the place to go. read more

Convenient location. Meh bagels, used to be more fresh. It seems like they keep raising the prices and decreasing the quality. One complaint- they cut EVERY bagel with the same knife, EVERY single bagel. I've witnessed it every time I've gotten a bagel there since they changed their management. And when I went back to buy more and mentioned how disappointed I was, there was no customer service. Great customer service, very friendly. I recently found out that they take orders for mini-bagels. You get the bagels in a few days. I was able to order whole wheat sesame bagels as well as whole wheat everything bagels, so I imagine they could make just about any combination you would want. The prices are very reasonable and my daughter and I love the egg and cheese bagels. read more

I've been to this bagel shop twice. Both times the bagel was good and the man who helped me out was friendly. I called to order my breakfast bagel and was able to pick it up ASAP! (ASAP happened to be less than four minutes as I live close by). The ambiance is bleh, and the selection was limited both times but prices are average and again the bagel was good. read more
