We are such a fan of Doc's -- such a fan that I'm actually compelled to write a Yelp review. Their sesame bagels are so good. Fluffy. Tons of sesame. Always fresh. Just today, we bought 18 of them (you know, quarantine...) and will be storing them in our fridge as we take them down one by one. Give them a good strong toast in the toaster. We purchase cream cheese from them too. I swear it's extra whipped or something. During these tough pandemic times, call a day ahead to order bulk or to make sure they have what you want. Arrived as the doors opened and the bagels were coming out. The whole place smelled like fresh yeasty goodness. The coffee was fresh.

Long overdue review for this awesome bagel shop . I've been coming here for 5-6 years and they always have great bagels and good prices . All of their bagels are good but my favorite is the "everything bagel " it's an excellent choice for a breakfast or lunch . As the name says it's a bagel with cheese , eggs , sausage , onion and bacon and other goodies . The blue berry bagel is also a great choice with cream cheese. I come here 2-3 times per month and they keep a consistent great service and good bagels overall. I highly recommend this shop for anyone in the area . Don't get me wrong, their bagels here are very good, but it would have been 5 stars if not for the customer service. The staff here always seemed rushed and asking for extra often leads to extra charge even if it's something as simple as extra pickles. Would recommend it overall, but that aspect has to be improved. read more

Regularly served stale bagels. Today's was hard as a rock on one side. Rarely get simple orders right. They need to write them down properly. Have to remove and discard random things that I didn't ask for--cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, capers... If you watch them like a hawk, and correct them while they make your order, and you aren't given a stale bagel, the result is quite good and proper. read more

Former East Coaster here. Docs is putting out legit bagels - excellent texture, not heavy, solid flavors. Service was fast and efficient. Recommend the traditional lox sandwich on an everything - you won't be disappointed. read more

Basic bagels. Nothing to see here folks. They offer a pretty bare coffee selection and have bottled beverages and sodas available from a cooler as well as a display case with some standard looking fruit salad type stuff and bins of bagels in various flavors. You won't be blown away by the flavor or atmosphere, but for under $3.45 I got a decent jalapeño bagel sandwich with egg and cheese. The jalapeño bagel wasn't very jalapeño-y at all and as far as I can tell, they only have one kind of cheese (I think it may actually have been American?). They have a little side bar where you can pump coffee or add salt, pepper, or hot sauce to your bagel (recommended) to spice it up, which is nice considering the overall plain jane-ness of everything else. They have a few tables inside and plenty of space. The billboard in the entryway actually has some pretty cool local events posted and is apparently THE place to post about missing/lost cats because there were 3 different missing cat signs up on my visit (cat burglar) which obviously made me die a little inside because I can't stand the thought of a cat without a home. I'm not racing to come back but I like that it's here if I have a bagel emergency and need some on the fly with friendly service. read more

I'm still a fan, but the new recipe for the whole wheat bagels isn't as good as it used to be under the new management. In addition to the new recipe not being as tasty, we got some undercooked bagels recently. It's only happened once, but clearly they've got a few kinks to work out. So while it's not "as good as it gets," I still like the customer service, the everything bagel, the family-run Belmont business, and the reasonable prices. read more

A competent little bagelry that knows the proper way to make them (boil not steam before baking) and the proper way to serve them. The guy behind the counter was non plussed by my request to not toast it (if its fresh, no need) with lox open faced (if high quality and sufficuiently cured/salty, a single slice on both sides without capers and such is all you need). The only drawback was the size of their bagels: standard issue size in these parts. A true NY bagel would be about a third bigger. Short of a trip home, darn good bagels to be had here. read more

Two stars for cleanliness and professionalism. The bagels are great; it's just a bagel. Ingredients are average, nothing to write home about. I stop here whenever I'm on the go and need breakfast. I get a breakfast sandwich. It's usually delicious, but the quality varies depending on who makes it and how fast they slap it all together. They often miss items and forgot to add ingredients I asked for, like avocado or cheese or sausage, so I have to go back up and ask them, or if I took it to go, it's just my loss for not checking. Sometimes they wear gloves, other times they just make the food with the same hands that take money and run the cash register and touch everything. The place needs a really good thorough clean. Overall they are nice. It's family run, from what I gather. read more

I've been going here regularly since middle school as i have been a belmont resident for a while now. i am kinda sad that it is under new management because a lot of the stuff has been taken off the menu (mostly the stuff they keep behind the glass). but the new management includes WAYYY nicer people who are patient and very very kind and pleasant. They answer all of my questions, and they always have a smile on their face. on top of the new management, they have also remodeled the store with marble and wood, which looks awesome and cleaner than it used to. the bagels have continued to be delicious throughout the years and the changes. read more

We have been buying food from Doc's Bagels off and on for the past 3 years. I went there by myself this afternoon for a lox bagel and received the rudest service from a middle aged woman with glasses (I think she is one of the owners). She was working at the cash register. There were 2 ppl ahead of me in line and I had been quietly waiting for my turn. Just when it was my turn, the woman switched from the cash register to the side where the bagels are, completely ignores the fact that I have been standing in line right in front of her, and proceeds to take an order from a young male customer behind me. I interject and tell them excuse me, I haven't placed my order yet. The woman glared at me and said loudly you need to be ordering HERE!! There was anger in her eyes. I was totally taken aback for a minute. Then she demanded "Do you know what you want??" and tried to interrupt me a couple of times while I was telling her my order. After I pay, I turn around to get out of the way while they prepare my bagel and I see a line of like 8 ppl. I felt embarrassed to be treated like that. I was also surprised nobody else spoke up. Food was OK, but it's the last time they will get my business. That woman was unbelievably mean and rude. read more

Just another bagel place, nestled in a Belmont strip mall. I've been to this strip mall before, but somehow never noticed this place. Come early, or else, like me, you won't have that many bagels to choose from. The bagels tasted alright, nothing special (and nothing close to the east coast variety), and the egg sandwiches are average. What a joke today! Ordered bagels when we come we always get same order, no surprises. One bagel with strawberry cream cheese for my daughter. We go back and let them know it did not come with strawberry cream cheese. Owners losers her mind screaming towards me as I'm sitting down across her business about extra charge. She has a huge line but is so concerned about her .50 cents! She is also insisting that we ordered it wrong. We always get the exact same order. I finally get tired of her screaming about the money and insist I pay! She then tells me no credit charge under a dollar!! Omfg are you kidding me! She makes such a big deal in front of all her customers! I insist loudly to charge my card a dollar! And she did! Wish I could give zero stars! read more

The bagels are average. Customer service is lacking. They do not like dogs at all, and told me that they do not allow dogs inside. Which is fine, no problem, I acknowledged it the first time and immediately took my dog to the seating outside. She was clearly unhappy with me when I went to pay for my food and proceeded to remind me one more time while we were both sitting outside. Not necessary to nag your customers. read more

NOT PET FRIENDLY. New to the area and found this place on yelp. Went to pick up sandwiches for family I had in town so I walked my dog here. Staff turned me away because "dogs aren't allowed inside". The place is nice enough. The folks who worked there were very nice to us. The sandwich was worse than basic. It's sad when Starbucks makes a better breakfast sandwich than the local place. I got a bacon egg and cheese on jalapeno. It was dry as hell. Pretty much flavorless. I left half the bagel cause it wasn't worth eating. My husband reported his food to be similar to mine. I've been going to Docs since I was a student at Carlmont High. I hate to say that it seems like the quality has gone down slightly in the fact that most of the time when I've visited recently the bagels are flat discs in stead of fluffy and round like they should be and were before. I think this may have something to do with possibly over mixing the dough or perhaps ratios of ingredients slightly off. Not all of them end up this way but a lot of the flavors do and so I try to look at them before I order to choose one that isn't flat. These ones also seem to come out with less flavor. I hope that they will read this and revisit some of their recipes or maybe it's a training issue on whoever is making the doughs? Other than that the staff is friendly and service is quick so I'm hoping they can figure this out and go back to the same quality delicious bagels I remember and love them for, consistently! read more
