Thinking I'm going to have to give up on my Doc's Fish Camp. Went to get the Thursday Prime Rib. Our regular server wasn't there and got one who isn't very good.1st problem. We got there at 4:58. Food came out at 5:30. Allen's potato had bacon on it (he's vegetarian) so she took it back to get him another without bacon. Problem #2. My food was cold. Problem #3. She never came back with the potato. Problem #4. She had started on a party of 10 in the back room. We finally just got up told the manager we'd like to pay for the for salad (lettuce and 2 cherry tomatoes) we ate but not anything else and let him know what went on. He said so sorry there's no charge. A shame I was set for my once a week meat fest. read more

Felt like we were a nuisance to the wait staff. DON'T order anything at market price without asking what the market price is. $53 for a couple bacon wrapped shrimp, scallops, lobster tail and over cooked fish. Had better seafood at the Sizzler, for lower price. Lastly, the ice made the drinks taste terrible. Brought it to the server's attention and her response was pretty much "yeah, that sucks for you." We had dinner here last night while in Marble Falls after doing an online restaurant search of where to eat. We thought steaks/seafood was a good choice. The establishment is a bit outdated (reminded us of a Ponderosa). It was clean though. Our server was very sweet but veryyy slow. We waited for drinks for awhile and our food took 50 minutes after we ordered- we were famished. When it did arrive, the portions were small. We ordered Jumbo Shrimp and Shrimp Diablo with fries and Cole Slaw as sides. (Too hungry to photograph food, oops). The food was quite good but I think the server realizes that the portions are small as she offered us more fresh rolls, after we ate. Honestly, the rolls were the absolute best part of the meal! So So soft and flavorful- I could've eaten more. Lol read more

We decided to try this restaurant based on prior reviews. Easy access from the highway, with adequate parking. We tried a couple of different dishes, both shrimp scampi and grilled shrimp kabob. Sides of cole slaw and corn were all good ad were the main dishes. Friendly wait staff that was attentive. Definitely recommend and worth a try. read more

Well not sure what happen to this place but went there tonight and it was the worse I seen in a long time. The waiter had two tables and it took him 20 minutes to get us our tea. He came back no drink and took our order. The oyster were old. Our fisherman platter was cold. He came by once ask if we like dessert . We told him to bring the check. After about 10 minutes he came took our credit card came back in about 5 minutes ask us if he took our card already, he left my credit card unattended in the back. I know it hard to find good help but manager did nothing all night, he walked up a back doing nothing. We spoke with him about this and he said that what manager do. One of the good old standbys for a moderately priced meal in Marble Falls Texas. Super friendly family & staff. Consistency with a wide variety of menu items to choose from. If you live in Marble Falls or any of the surrounding areas you know that a more than halfway decent place to dine and relax are few and far between. In fact less than a handful! So, um, we just ate here, and the service was HORRIBLE. Our waitress was so inattentive - we were right next to the kitchen and she rushed past us several times over the course of the hour we were there, obviously ignoring us, even when we'd say "excuse me?" She just kept going. She spilled our drinks on us twice, failed to get us refills (I even went to the bar myself to get a refill for my son), and dropped food next to us and just left it. She even walked by it two more times before someone else picked it up. We also saw several servers just hanging out at the bar area while we were being ignored. Tables were empty. They were not busy by any means. Same with the drinks. When she spilled them on the table, she threw a couple napkins over the mess and said "I'll be back" but never did come back. She brought out our bill before our food even came. My food was burnt but by the time it finally arrived, I didn't even care to complain. She had brought my kid's food well before she brought ours, so they were almost done. So not worth it to wait for a refire. She started to clean up the table, reaching right in front of us and between us while we were still eating. I asked her to close out the checks first, she gave me a dirty look, I said thank you, and she said "mmm-hmmm." Um, what? We stopped at Doc's Fish Camp and Grill for dinner after going to a couple of the local wineries. Walking in the first thing I noticed was that the restaurant has a very casual setting, I like it. We were seated right away, near the bar and the live music. So far so good. I had the chicken fried chicken, it was Ok but very bland. I wouldn't really call it a chicken fried chicken (not pounded thin) as it was more like a very thick unseasoned boneless breast. The gravy was bland as well. My fries were Ok, but nothing special. Not a great meal. Drinks... avoid the margarita, es no bueno. The Mexican martini was weak as well. The highlight to dinner was the entertainment. Don Rilley was preforming. Yes, by all appearances this is a fish camp done right--a romanticized fish camp with lacquered pine benches and cool menu (fonts) and drink names. But then the small town comes out. SLOW first stop at table--like 5 minutes--and an even slower talking server who talks about nothing you care about. And then the food eventually came. My wife's beer that has orange juice and an amaretto floater was passable. As was the onion ring blossom thing. But the catfish poboy came with the kind of stank that made the second bite unswallowable. I'm not saying don't eat here. Just take into account what it calls itself, then try the burgers. read more

Good Seafood for the area, nothing fancy or elegant. But I was pretty impressed with the Stuffed Tilapia and Hamburgers. Stuffed Tilapia was Delicious, garlic mashed potatoes were Amazing, but the green beans were EHH...so-so I guess. Hamburgers are a good size. I wish they'd cook the patty to my specification (medium). Some places won't do it, and if that's the case, that's fine, just let me know when I'm ordering it. The waiter shouldn't say okay and bring out a well done patty. Anyway, the Burger was Excellent Tasting! Blackened Catfish....WOW! Full of flavor. Wanted to lick the plate clean!! Stopped here for lunch with my kiddos. Was a little nervous after walking in and just getting stared at by the two employees standing in the front. Finally the lady said hi and sat us. She was very unenthusiastic I must say, but as soon as our server Hugo introduced himself I knew we would be just fine. He was great, very fast, great customer service, and a pleasure to have serving us. He was knowledgable about everything on the menu and recommended food I thoroughly enjoyed. When visiting my sister in nearby Burnet, I had been to Doc's a couple of years ago on a Friday night and the place had a good "roadhouse" feel, was lively and the food was exactly what I expected. Good enough -- no frills, small-town Texas grub. Upon arriving for this visit, when asked "where would you like to go?" -- I proclaimed, "let's go to Doc's -- I really liked that place." Well, they sure must have undergone a change in ownership or something. Where shall I begin...? First of all, there was no hostess to greet us - (off to a great start). Then, when she did walk us over to our table, she just kind of slung the menus down onto the table with a thud, like this was the last place on Earth she wanted to be. She feigned an "enjoy your meal" and "your server will be out momentarily." Momentarily turned into 10 minutes. Our server finally showed up and I could tell by looking at her ordering book that she was disorganized, disheveled and just looked, well... nasty. She had grease under her fingernails -- looked like she had just ripped out the transmissions on a couple of '72 Monte Carlos during her day job and didn't have time to wash up (or rest). She was grumpy and truly disinterested in making our visit to Doc's anything but unmemorable, if not downright miserable. One thing led to another. The teas and waters came out with loud thuds and even splashed onto the table. The one glass of wine ordered was completely forgotten about and finally when the food came out (after 45 minutes), one entree was shoved down onto the table to "scoot" the side salad plate out of the way. In this rude and impractical move, grease dripped off of the steak's plate, onto my cousin's lap and white skirt. LIKE, TOTALLY AWESOME!! The apology was insincere and she didn't seem to be in any rush to get some rags/towels to clean up the mess. The food was truly "send-back-able." The steaks were overcooked. The peel 'n eat shrimp was floating in tepid water instead of on ice, as advertised. Seemed that the only thing tasty was the cole slaw that safely came from a large vat in the refrigerator in the kitchen that happened to work. All entrees had been advertised on the menu as coming with sides and "a camp roll" -- needless to say, no rolls. By that time, we had simply given up and just wanted to get as far from Doc's as humanly possible. My prediction is that this place, if continuing at this pace, will devolve into a watering hole dive bar with burgers and wings only -- and will ultimately shut its doors due to either bankruptcy or health code violations. Truly a disappointment to see something good fall completely and totally from grace. read more
