This is my third time coming here. Taste: 5/10 Service: 4/10 I don't know why they don't fill the cup up completely? The coffee is sour, not sure what it means but it can't be a good thing, lol. Guy at the front spoke at 30 dB, it was almost impossible to hear him. Had to ask him to repeat his words many times, especially since the music is a bit on the louder side. My drink was $6.75. I had no prior knowledge of chaga, but had read online that it's a mushroom that seems to have some health benefits as well as some health risks with consumption. Such a cute hole the in wall type of coffee shop in ktown!! This coffee shop felt more like a grab and go since there was limited seating but we happened to go on the day where a live performance was being held! I wish I got to experience hanging out in the interior pre-COVID, because it seems like an awesome, chill space. However, they do have a little outdoor patio setup with a few rows of wooden benches so it's perfect for coffee chats! I tried the mad spice latte which my oblivious self did not realize til after was basically a dirty chai. I'm also sad at my caffeine weenie self that I had to get decaf because the flavor was pretty mild. I came here to work a little bit with my friend, and I really liked the drinks that I tried out here. However, I only saw like 2 outlets in the whole seating area (or maybe there's another one that I missed) so I'm not so sure if it's a good spot to work or study if you need to stay plugged in. I ordered the Document MML ($6), which is Moroccan mint mixed with their hand-pressed lemonade. It's really refreshing and perfect for a hot day. There was a perfect balance of flavor from both the mint and the lemon juice. I also tried out their Hojicha Latte ($5.50), which I really liked as well. It's something that I would get for those cold days in the winter. I came here on a Saturday a little bit before noon and didn't have any trouble finding parking in the lot in the back, and there were plenty of open seats inside, but not many seats with outlets near them. However, I was lucky enough to find an open seat near an outlet, but I had to swoop in pretty quickly for it. The entire 5 hours that I was in there, I don't think there was any time that every single seat inside was taken up; there was always quite a few available. My laptop doesn't have that great of a battery life and takes a while to charge back up, so I had to plug it in soon after I sat down. The wifi was also a little bit spotty from time to time, but it comes back after a few minutes. With that said, I'd recommend saving your work often just in case. If you only want to study or work using only books or notes and don't need the outlets, then it's a decent place. The tables are a bit narrow though so you can't really spread your books out so wide. If you need to bring your laptop or some other electronic device, then you should plan ahead in the case that it runs out of batteries and you can't find a seat near an outlet. Know your battery life, and make sure that your device is charged all the way before you come. read more

The espresso is always so solid lowkey think they do it better than Stumptown in portland. They feature many pour over options as well as teas hojicha and matcha - I had the Honduras pour over but it's still a little too acidic for my taste. INTERIOR: They renovated it; has some bar like tables with stools for seating and outdoors seating in the back (where parking lot is). Among the many many cafes and coffee shops in Koreatown, this one is my favorite. It's consistently good in all of the drinks that I've tried so far and I would definitely recommend the Document Cold Brew and the London in the Rain. None of their drinks are too syrupy or sweet, and the coffee always tastes high quality. This is definitely not a place to study for hours based on the limited seating but I love to grab a cup of this on the way to work in the morning especially with the large parking lot in the back. read more

To recover from our meal from Howlin' Rays - we wanted more coffee. I was intrigued by their selection of teas and their Horchata Oat Latte and so we drove. There is a back parking lot, but we weren't directed there and found some street parking ($.50). It felt very clean and spacious. I was impressed with their unique pastries and got the matcha ginger scone to share with my sister. It was super tasty, and the candied ginger was a great touch. I enjoyed it a lot! I loved the Horchata latte and was glad I got the boost that I needed! It wasn't overly sweet, and you could taste the cinnamon and the texture ( in the most appealing way possible) Their art piece about COVID and BLM was really touching (the fact that they are all regulars to this shop), and I felt very appreciative of being able to support. I've been meaning to try this cafe and I stopped by to get some work done since the first cafe I wanted to go to was closed today. I ordered an iced Document latte, which has maple syrup, for here. My drink came out pretty fast and it came in a glass cup (yay for being environmentally friendly). They also have paper straws. The Document latte was the perfect balance of not being too sweet or too bitter. I would definitely get it again but the cup is mostly ice so I would probably ask for less ice in the future so that it has more coffee in it. They offer dairy alternatives for $0.50 if you're unable to drink whole milk. There's a lot of long tables in the cafe if you want to get some work done but the tables are kind of narrow and there aren't a lot of individual tables. Unfortunately there are only 3-4 outlets, so it may be hard to get work done if you need to charge your devices. There's a valet parking lot and metered parking out front. Document Coffee Bar seems to be more of a place to hangout with friends or relax at with a book. read more

Cute little coffee shop off of Wilshire facing St. Andrews Place. Hours are great but parking is tight unless you go early being right in the heart of the Wilshire-Western Corridor. With that said, if it's possible to take the Purple line in, that's your best bet! Love the upcycling of the decor: the lights are upside down trash cans with face murals and community type tables and lockers for a post-high school feel. The two baristas working the morning I went worked quickly to the line of patrons, some with their doggies. The prices are pretty standard and I like the options although I had a tea. It was great and could drink at the tables, or at the counter overlooking St. Andrews Place. Note, there are only additional pastries, no food items. But there are plenty of food options within a small radius. I'd definitely come back if I was walking by, it was a pleasant experience! read more

Cool place to visit and grab coffee in Ktown! I got the chaga latte with oat milk, which the barista also suggested and said was her favorite drink. The drink was slightly sweet and had a warm flavor from the cacao and cinnamon. It is also made with chaga mushrooms, which added some earthiness to the drink, but didn't taste weird at all. The mushrooms were chopped into tiny bits, so there was a little bit of texture in some sips. Something I loved about this place was the wall of photos inside. Document coffee is definitely in my top 3 for coffee in ktown. It is located a bit farther away from other places in ktown but definitely worth visiting as they don't have long wait times (during the times that I visit). Notable coffee drinks: cold brew single origin (well balanced cold brew) cold brew document cold (my go to drink at document) Document also has a wide variety of Korean tea drinks that I have yet to try so if that is your type of drink definitely give it a try. No complaints here - really quality coffee (even have a menu for single origin pour overs), nice interior with art, street metered parking, and fair prices. The only things I wish were different were if there was seating either inside or outside, but they probably removed it due to covid. Overall, really enjoyed the coffee and price point. The server said it's their mistake for putting in the wrong order but instead of getting an apology, I got hell of an attitude with bitchy face from her. I've been going here for years as I work nearby. And I was just here earlier this week too. Most of the time, (summer or winter) I get what they call Document Hot Chocolate. It's where you get a chocolate spoon and melt it yourself in steamed milk. As always, I ordered Document Hot Chocolate this afternoon. The girl who took the order asked me, would you like that iced or hot? Which threw me off because I said Document Hot Chocolate and how would you melt the chocolate spoon if I were to get it iced? So I asked her you can get this iced? Will chocolate melt in iced milk? And she said yes. I ordered Hot anyway as the idea of melting chocolate in iced milk didn't sound good. Then I went to pick up my drink, but I was served a pre mixed hot chocolate and not the chocolate spoon with steamed milk. So I told them (girl who took the order and the girl who made the drink) this is not what I ordered. I ordered the chocolate spoon hot chocolate. Rather than trying to remedy the situation, they just stood there with wtf face. So I explained again, that I ordered Document Hot Chocolate, which is the chocolate spoon and steamed milk. Then the girl who made the drink immediately said, then you need to pay more. And she says, that's the Document Hot Chocolate. So I said yes, that's what I ordered. I did say Document Hot Chocolate. At this point, I'm scanning the menu again to see what they charged me for cuz I don't even see any other hot chocolate on the menu besides their Oxacan Chocolate.. this item however is more expensive than Document Hot Chocolate so why would they make me pay more if that's what they charged me for? At this point, it didn't really matter and I said ok we'll pay the difference ($1.25) to get what I ordered. In the mean time, the girl who took the order was willing to give the mistake drink to a friend who went with me since it's gonna go to trash. But the girl who made the drink said no, and took the drink away, and threw it away in front of our face. The girl admitted earlier that it was their mistake for taking the wrong order. Then learn to APOLOGIZE!! You don't give your customer your bitchy face with an attitude when you are the one who made the mistake. As a customer, I just wanted my order corrected and I was willing to pay for the difference. This was a very very poor customer service and I won't be coming here anymore along with bunch of friends and coworkers. read more

I am a weekly customer and have been in love with this coffee shop for the last 8 years living in Ktown. It is my favorite. However, the last four times I ordered pastry this month, I was served dry and stale ones. I thought it was just one bad day and kept ordering and kept getting bad experience. I hope they would do something about it. Or at least let the customers know in advance that they are selling pastry from yesterday (many bakeries in Ktown do that for a small discount). The ambiance is just okay, there are a ton of photos of people on the walls so it's a little distracting if you want to sit in there and do work. But overall it's a great spot. read more

Came to Document Coffee Bar because my friend recommended it. I ordered the Cold Brew_document Cold (I have no idea why it's named this but whatever) and it was delicious! Not too sweet, and still retaining the coffee taste, the maple syrup was unique! I would say it's better to drink it fast before the ice melts as well. I also really liked the aesthetic of Document. They have a wall covered by art and it has a nice wood look to it. If it weren't for covid I imagine this place would be a great place to sit down and study as it was quiet and a lot of natural lighting. Currently it seems like there were no tables set up, but I hope when things relax Document will bring tables back and allow people to sit and relax. read more

This store is one of my favorite study spots. The employees are extremely kind and really make your drinks exactly how you want it. The staff is also friendly and bilingual in English and Korean. The drinks are made to perfection with an adequate sweetness--Especially the MATCHA LATTE. It's literally so iconic i'm crying. They can adjust it to your liking too in case you're a fitness type of person ;). Looking for a quick wake me up? The Document Latte and Americano literally pack quite the punch. They'll really make you feel wide awake. Students, listen up. Document is perfect to study at on the weekdays during the day (OPEN 7am-7pm). They're usually less crowded towards the end of the day, but on the weekends, during like peak hours: PRAY FOR A SEAT, because there really isn't many. My go-to spot for pour overs and cold brew. They have a great rotating variety of beans for pour overs. Plus their baristas seem to have the right touch. I've tried 3 of their Ethiopian roasts, all of which taste remarkably distinct. Their single origin cold brew is also delicious, with chocolatey and fruity notes. I'm not a big fan of their espresso, whether it's in latte or macchiato form. Not bad, but nothing special. Still, this place does several things to near perfection. I'm from Houston and visit LA a couple times of year. This is the best coffee in LA, hands down. Document has become one of the first stops every LA trip now. Coffee is incredible. The Document Latte ($5.50) with oat milk (+$1) is a MUST try. Never had a latte with maple syrup, but it is incredible. I don't know what's in the creme they use, but it's so thick and creamy. 20/10. You have to try this. On my last visit, I tried the Document Cafe Horchata ($6) and this was delicious. Not overly sweet, and perfect amount of cinnamon flavor. The flavor just works so well with the espresso. I've been about 4x now, and the service is always quick and friendly. No indoor seating with covid, but they have benches in the back.
