I wanted to find a place to beat the heat and Jurassic Magic was the perfect spot. Street parking was easy on the day I went. The coffee shop is located in an older charming building, but has a minimalistic industrial vibe inside. The sound system is amazing, seats a bit uncomfortable but cooling, and service very friendly. It wasn't too busy mid week, but there were a steady stream of customers. Pastries are from Sugarbloom. They have a great variety of drinks. I opted for the Spring Basics. It didn't have a strong coffee flavor but then I realized it was an Americano and it was a bit watered down. It was refreshing on a hot day, but I would order it next time w/ a double shot or less water. Cold foam was tasty with yuzu/chocolate. Will be back to try more of their drinks! read more

Jurassic Magic Café is a great spot if you're looking for a spacious coffee shop with a relaxed vibe. I stopped by early in the morning and ordered the Magic Latte--it reminded me of a vanilla latte but with a generous cinnamon kick. Since I arrived right after opening, finding street parking wasn't an issue. If you're visiting later in the day, parking may take a little more patience. The café has plenty of seating, making it a nice place to catch up with a friend or get some work done. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back to try more of their drinks. read more

Cute spot with a beautiful interior and great vibes--it almost feels like a mini art museum. They have a creative drink menu with lots of unique options. I tried the Spring Basics Decaf, and while I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't quite my favorite. The spice notes came through much more than the advertised chocolate and yuzu flavors, so the drink felt a bit unbalanced to me. Having enjoyed the Jurassic Magic location in Mid City, I was curious to see how I would find this location located near MacArthur Park. Finding street parking can take some time, but so far I've been able to find spots that are a reasonable walking distance to the cafe. The interior design reminds me of a walking into a small art gallery with a shelve of books on one side of the wall, visible artwork, and small boxy tables with metallic chairs for seating. During each of my visits, there has been one staff person taking orders and making drinks. The employees were friendly, though I could imagine there being a wait for drinks when there is a lengthy line. The espresso-based drinks I've had were well-made, and I found a good spot to read or linger for a while. read more

I had a splash of oat milk if I remember correctly, and that made the drink go down even smoother than it already is! It would be a lie if I said that I happened to stumble across this cafe, since I actually waited for 3 months for this place to open. Its a fairly unnoticeable cafe; its tucked inside a historical building and next to a letterpress store. The inside is fairly big with ample seating, nice space to gather with a group of two or three to lounge and talk. The coffee is good. I got the latte with almond milk and I liked it. I'll definitely have to come back and try the specialty drinks on their menu. Parking can be a bit tough since it is street parking but on any given weekday, its not that bad. The neighborhood is a bit rough though, so definitely be on the lookout. read more

This is one of the few coffee shops in the neighborhood and that is counting the big chain coffee shops. The coffee shop is located in a historic building now called Westlake Square building in which it has intricate molding all around the building and hand drawn roof. When you step in, you are immediately enter the sitting area and to your right you see the ordering station. They offer a good amount of drink selections and pastries. The staff is nice and on top of welcoming new customers when they walk in. I ended up ordering the Magic latte which was delicious. Looking forward to coming back! read more

We found parking easily during the day and felt perfectly fine. I ordered the Spanish latte which tasted delicious. It is basically a standard chai coffee and hit the spot. came in earlier this morning and the poor barista was all by herself. she had a long line and it seemed like her voice was gone . She was very attentive , made an amazing cup of coffee , and gave the best service i've ever been given. i asked her if she would be getting a break soon and she said she wouldn't because they work 8 1/2 hours all by themselves with no breaks, insane!! And to top it all off she isn't even allowed to accept tips. Horrible work environment for a barista so great.
