Looks like they are on the process of doing some updating. We were seated quickly by a very nice waitress. It was like many of the steak houses I have visited. Fairly open seating. Noise level was pleasant. I like my steak rare. I always tell the waiter yes I know what rare is and that is how I want my steak This is where they excel. I got one that was just right. I give it 4 stars. We went to cataloochie to see the elk and the leaves and stopped here because it was closer than waiting to go home to eat. Lisa picked it because we wanted steak and she saw it the day before when we went to the apple festival. Other than being out of the Miss Kitty fillet, everything was good. The bourbon chicken sauce is delicious. If I ever go back again, I would either get the bourbon chicken or the miss kitty. I had the rodeo chicken. It was good, but Lisa's bourbon chicken was better. This review is 100% on how management failed to retain a customer, and their actions escalated into a poor review. After years, ever since purchasing Sagebrush, I've been a patron to Dodge City Steakhouse. Today's occasion left me as no longer a customer, I called in advance to make an order as I often when traveling past this location, as I am a busy business owner and advance orders allows me to eat while traveling. I really don't have time to sit down and enjoy a meal unfortunately, there's not enough hours in my day. When I called Dodge City, as always I specifically told them I want four rolls with a well done beef tips with crusted blue cheese. When I arrive there, I noticed I only had two rolls is which is what I use to make a slider out of my meals. as I'm driving, you can't really eat a steak without eating it as a sandwich. So I received two rolls and asked the bartender for 2 more rolls, and she proceeded to tell me I needed to pay for the extra two rolls. I already paid for 4 rolls as that's what I ordered. upon further discovery, I discovered my meal was not cooked as requested, there was no blue cheese melted into the meat and the rolls were as hard as a rock. I mentioned this to the bartender and she instantly got defensive and started talking about they need to be proofed, well then why aren't they proved? You're a restaurant, you know you've got customers coming for dinner and yet you have no rolls "proofed". That's not really my concern, my concern is to get what I ordered and paid for. I asked for the manager and when she finally showed up she was also extremely defensive and said well here I'll just give you your money back and immediately pulled the meal I've been preparing from me. At this point I've been to the restaurant 15 minutes, after 15 minutes ordering in advance. Instead of being professional, and saying I'm sorry sir let me just discount your order because we didn't fulfill it as expected and can't provide what we offer. Instead she started arguing with me, escalating the situation unnecessarily. After this incident, it's left me a horrible taste in my mouth, the management delivery of professional results was lacking and at this point I will no longer be patronizing Dodge City Steakhouse. I've had previous issues with this restaurant, and it's dismissed them. There are plenty of other options, and when I travel to Asheville from the other side of the mountains with limited options. I look for places to eat different than what we have available in our town. I have bukus's options, and at this point Dodge City will no longer be one of them. We opted to bar seating and were greeted quickly, however, the time for food was longer than expected. My steak was cooked correctly but wasn't as tender as I'd like. The food was good, but there was a minor hiccup during our visit. Our server, while friendly, seemed a bit unfamiliar with the menu, which led to some confusion. The menu plainly stated the chop steak came with the choice of one topper. The server stated there would be a charge. I questioned this, but the server maintained his position, but finally admitted he was incorrect after looking at the menu. Perhaps he was new, but by his logic, I would have paid more for a lunch item than a dinner item. Another point of concern was the 3% non-cash surcharge automatically factored into our bill before we even had the chance to decide whether we'd be paying by cash or card. While I understand the need for such surcharges, it would be more customer-friendly to inquire about the payment method first. Again, when questioned, the server said he would try to get it taken off if we paid in cash. I wonder how many people don't notice this and pay a credit card surcharge when paying in cash. Despite these minor issues, the overall dining experience was enjoyable, thanks to the fantastic food. I would recommend this restaurant as there are very few old fashioned steakhouses left, but I hope they can improve server knowledge and billing transparency in the future. read more

We came in from out of town for the festival weekend. It being our last night, we wanted a good meal. After the reviews and much research, we decided to give it a try. I can honestly say. This restaurant did NOT disappoint. The food was phenomenal, steak was cooked perfect! (Which is honestly a first for our crew). The ranch potatoes were amazing as well, the chicken tenders were juicy and had the right amount of crust, my steak came out perfect. My family's shrimp and steak came out perfect. They absolutely loved the corn as well, and the cheesecake was completely delicious. They have the best fried pickles I've ever put in my mouth! We spoke to the manager about how good the service was. Who good the food was. Coming from a picky eater and a very particular person- the yelp and google reviews are complete bull crap, this place is definitely better than the 3/4 star rating it has. We will definitely be coming back home when we come to visit from now on. future reference: don't let the "bad reviews" on this place keep you from visiting. You will be HIGHLY disappointed if you don't try Dodge City. It's truly mouth watering goodness! read more

So I want to start by saying I hate giving bad reviews. I will give a place a few times before I finally give one and that is what it has came to with this place. Only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because a few of the people they have on staff are sweet and genuinely try to do their jobs. There are more employees that are rather rude though. If you order something Togo make sure to check your bags to confirm your order is right yourself because for a service that is most often so slow they still don't make sure everything is there. Multiple times that I've been and the bathroom is ALWAYS nasty. Not as bad here and there but still not clean and very cramped. Walking in you can see where their hood system hasn't been serviced and is now leaking out so bad it's going down the roof and into the parking lot. Makes you really wonder what the kitchen and other food areas look like since that part is so bad. They supposedly "revamped" to new and improved when they changed from Sagebrush to Dodge City but other than signs changing and a few simple changes on the inside everything is still basically the same and this also includes the menu. The menu hasn't been changed to match Dodge City yet. Then again, every time I have questions on the menu I get different answers. As pictured with this review, on one of my visits I order the 6 oz sirloin Togo and had broccoli and fries as sides. I had unfortunately finished the broccoli and almost half the fries before finding this receipt under my very small sirloin. I will mention the Roman answering the phone that night had my meal remade but after eating something tainted with a paper that's been touched with bare hands and on counters and possibly in the floor it's hard to get past it. read more

We thought we would give them a shot, see if it was any better than when it was Sagebrush. It is not. My husband's beef tips were tough as shoe leather. Asked for mushroom gravy, got mushrooms and onions. The baked potato wasn't hot enough to melt butter. The onion petals looked like they were scraps leftover from all day. My burger was supposed to be well done, it was pink in the middle and the fries were cold and soggy. Definitely will not be going back. read more

First couple of times I went there it was great. Now we are on a downhill slide. Went in to dine a few months ago, they didn't have Caesar Salad. Ok, whatever, ordered something else. Went in for a pickup of the same one day, and had called in the order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I get there 20 minutes later, still not ready. I waited another 10 minutes. Finally it is brought out. I'm paying cash, but they automatically and without asking ring it up as a card transaction and slap on the surcharge for that. I questioned it and made them take it off. I handed her cash, she turns around and hands me my change and the original bill. I had to tell her what her mistake was. Totally clueless. Yesterday I called in an order again. I got there to pick it up (again, chicken Caesar salad), and they come out and tell me they don't have Caesar salad today. WTH?? You sit in front of Publix and across the street from Ingles, and you can't go get the ingredients if you ran out? They can do SO much better than this. read more

I, my mom and my son went to dinner last night. Mom and I ordered rodeo chicken. I ordered mine with no mushrooms. my son ordered the ribs and steak with macaroni and in the mac he asked for bacon and onions. After an extended wait the food arrives and mine is covered with mushrooms and my son has no bacon or onion in his macaroni. the manager comes over and informs my son that bacon and onion in the macaroni is not an option and she takes my food back. she does bring him bacon and onion for his macaroni. After another wait I get my plate back and now I have no rice under my chicken. The manager then informs me that there was mushrooms in the rice so they assumed I did not want any. So I asked for her to bring me a bowl of rice so I did receive it and I looked through the bowl there was no mushrooms. Our waitress was very pleasant though. I did leave her a tip because the food was not her fault. The people next to us also received unwanted mushrooms as well. all the food was salty also. My sons ribs were excellent as was his steak. This is the second such incident we have had here and we will not be back. Sad that it's one of a few choices for a sit down steak house in the Waynesville area and it isn't worth the effort to go there to eat. read more
