Just noticed Gene finally responded even though I called multiple times for an update. It took me going to Yelp to get any response. As I mentioned, I continued to check in as when I called I was told the groomer DID KNOW that she had clipped him. Mistakes happen- but as a business owner myself- I call people and talk to them face to face - not through Yelp. You have for sure lost a longtime customer- Best

Pretty bad experience. I work next door and have been excited to come here for a long time. Go to the gym across the street so wanted my dog to go to daycare an hour a day twice a week. He goes to another daycare 20 minutes away every week and Dog PPL in Santa Monica that has way more dogs. He loooves dogs and wants to socialize. He is actually with dogs every single day because when he's not at daycare, he's with a dog walker. Further, I foster and train dogs, and foster and raise puppies from birth. My dog is an angel. During the (5-min!) temperament test to see if my dog could attend daycare, the staff would not let my dog walk on his own. The lady was holding him up by his harness and wouldn't let him explore the room or the dogs. I told her my dog has cataracts and asked that if they give him treats, to set them on the ground first. Although he'd never bite anyone and never has, I said I don't want them to put their fingers in his mouth with treats since he can't see the treats that well I wouldn't want him to snap it out of their hand. But reiterated that he's never done that. Just shouldn't have said anything. The worker said she didn't let him walk around "Because he has cataracts, what if another dog bumps into him and then he bites them?" ???????????????????? He has never bitten anyone or anything in his whole life and is truly the gentlest dog. Babies and toddlers I babysit feed him food and he takes it so gently from them. I saw on the cameras when she had him in the room and she only brought him to the entrance where understandably all the dogs were surrounding and saying hi to him, and he was smelling them too but just with her holding him up by the harness. Not sure how that is a temperament test? Unfortunately he won't be able to come to work with me anymore since I can't drop him off for 1 hour to go to the gym. Really ageist and ridiculous imo from a teenage staff member making up hypotheticals after an off-hand comment I made. Couldn't be more disappointed.

We love taking our furbaby here because they take great care of our very "particular" jack russell terrier. He enjoys getting individual attention by the sweet ladies who welcome him by name, provide him with his meals and snacks. He's typically aloof and not overly friendly with most strangers but he does get excited when we pull into their parking lot. My only complaint was the strong doggie odors when you walk in but I believe they now have an air cleaner and diffuser which is helping.

My puppy just started coming here, but he's already obsess with the place. He has been so tired both days of all the fun he's having there. All the employees are extremely nice, and are great at communicating the behavior of my doggie each day. The place is super clean too, witch is a huge thing for me!

WOWZA!! I take my "daughter" Trixie every few months for a FULL GROOMING sesssion with PATTY. She gets really SHAGGY (cocker spaniel/terrier mix), so she like a completely different dog when I pick her up. She's SO HAPPY with PATTY, and I LOVE how she's "smiling" when I pick her up. It's like "Thank you, Mommy!" This is the ONLY place I will take her to because she just LOVES it SO MUCH after she gets groomed! I'm SO THANKFUL that I found a groomer who UNDERSTANDS her. They are THE BEST!

Updating to say we have now used Dog-E-Den for boarding as well, twice. Each time, my dog returned home happy and well taken care of.

Her paws post daycare. Skin hanging off, inflamed, and the circle nub there is no skin present.

I was looking forward to taking my Puppy here! She appeared to have a good time on the camera. She went to daycare for her very first time from 12:45pm-5:10pm. I requested a nap around 2:45pm/3pm. I picked her up and noticed she was whimpering a little, but figured she was tired. Later that night, I checked her paws and they were so raw. Some areas were missing skin and some had skin hanging off! She did not pee, eat or poop the rest of the night. I consulted with my online vet, who stated it looked like a burn, which can be very painful. My puppy now has booties, bandages, and pain meds. It's day 2 and she is just now starting to slowly walk. I spoke with the owner who states this is "normal" due to puppies not being able to self regulate. I requested a nap, but upon arrival was told she was allowed to play longer because she had too much fun. If this is normal, I would imagine the daycare would assist with self regulating, adhering to naps, and educating puppy parents on how increase friction can cause raw paws. I am very disappointed with this response and lack of responsibility. The front staff were nice which is why I gave two stars. However, if you drop your dog off at daycare, just like a baby, you expect a certain level of supervision. Not your baby to be in worse condition. Would not recommend.

Ask the Community - Dog-E-Den Sherman Oaks

We have a 35 lb. dog who had a very hard life prior to rescue. His eyesight is not good and it seems he is afraid of larger people. He can be aggressive at times. Is he a candidate for boarding? We have meds to calm him if needed like for grooming.

Unfortunately it sounds like we might not be a good fit. Dogs who board with us spend the majority of the daytime socializing with other dogs, and human dog handlers, inside our play yards. We require all dogs who stay with us for boarding or…

Dog is 2 years old and not neutered is he allowed to the hotel?

I do not believe so I believe all pets, have to be spayed and neutered.

Has a dog ever been lost under your care under any of your locations? And if so what steps were taken to find the dog and rectify the situation? Thanks for clarifying on…

No, in the 5+ years that Dog E Den Sherman Oaks has been operating we have never lost a dog under our care.

Does my 5 month old have to be neutered to stay for the hotel slumber service?

No, we do require that dogs over 6 months are fixed prior to accepting them for daycare or boarding. If your dog is under 6 months old then that it is not required.

Do you guys sell dog food?

Hi Jay, yes we do. The primary food that we currently sell is My Perfect Pet, a high quality pet food made in the U.S. using only human grade ingredients.…

Hi can I bring my kids to play with dogs there?

Unfortunately no, only staff is allowed inside the daycare facility.

Would you recommend Dog-E-Den for the training of a service dog?

Yes! Juan is the best trainer, he helped tame my husky and walked me through everything he did as he was doing it, definitely helped my knowledge of Dog behavior and helped me handle my dog!

In…read more2023/2024 I found the dog resort extremely helpful as a day time dog sitter for 4-6 hrs at a time. My dog didn't seem to mind it and always came back calmer so I decided to leave him here for 9 days while I went away for a trip. I don't recall the exact costs. Probably between 900-1100 dollars for daily walks and his home provided food. I asked the employees to put on his sweater at night. It wasn't a question it was a very important task they agreed to. He was a very small 8 pound yorkie and was always cold. When I came back my dog was not his normal self. That already made me highly suspicious about getting his walks. He was coughing a lot, not sleeping but also lethargic. I took him to the vet and he had pneumonia. Meaning, he was cold from day 1 and got worse for the remainder of his stay and I never got a call from here. From there he got sicker and sicker and I had to put him down. I was devastated and desperate to get him back to normal for months! I recommend people never leave their dogs in places like this. Sure you save money and they may or may not have company (depending on their personality) but you're better off vetting a dog sitter to check in or stay with your dog at home. In the end you may save yourself an onslaught of vet bills from trying to figure what is making your dog so ill when back from a trip. At least with an in home dog sitter they're more like to stay alive and healthy. If you have a small dog with specific needs get someone who can cater to your dog with love and care. I highly suggest NEVER leaving your dog for overnight or extended stays. I hate that it took me so long to post this but my grief was too strong to do it before. I wanted to sue, I wanted my money back, but I was so sad and I couldn't bring myself to do much other than focus on him and move on with my life. I'll never get another dog after this experience.
