Kodiak is my service dog and he is a standard poodle. He has been a regular to groom with Patti at Sherman Oaks. She does an amazing work with him keeping my standards of how he needs to look for his everyday job. Patti books real fast so if you are interested in booking with her you need to do it 6 weeks in advance specially if you have a large dog like mine. Kodiak wears a pony haircut with dye poms. He is fully groom every 6 weeks and takes bath every two weeks. His style and dye take about 6 hours to get done as Patti works in a salon and has more works to work around my dog. Highly recommend her as a groomer but make sure to always schedule your follow up appointments at pick up. read more

Pretty bad experience. I work next door and have been excited to come here for a long time. Go to the gym across the street so wanted my dog to go to daycare an hour a day twice a week. He goes to another daycare 20 minutes away every week and Dog PPL in Santa Monica that has way more dogs. He loooves dogs and wants to socialize. He is actually with dogs every single day because when he's not at daycare, he's with a dog walker. Further, I foster and train dogs, and foster and raise puppies from birth. My dog is an angel. During the (5-min!) temperament test to see if my dog could attend daycare, the staff would not let my dog walk on his own. The lady was holding him up by his harness and wouldn't let him explore the room or the dogs. I told her my dog has cataracts and asked that if they give him treats, to set them on the ground first. Although he'd never bite anyone and never has, I said I don't want them to put their fingers in his mouth with treats since he can't see the treats that well I wouldn't want him to snap it out of their hand. But reiterated that he's never done that. Just shouldn't have said anything. The worker said she didn't let him walk around "Because he has cataracts, what if another dog bumps into him and then he bites them?" ???????????????????? He has never bitten anyone or anything in his whole life and is truly the gentlest dog. Babies and toddlers I babysit feed him food and he takes it so gently from them. I saw on the cameras when she had him in the room and she only brought him to the entrance where understandably all the dogs were surrounding and saying hi to him, and he was smelling them too but just with her holding him up by the harness. Not sure how that is a temperament test? Unfortunately he won't be able to come to work with me anymore since I can't drop him off for 1 hour to go to the gym. He enjoys getting individual attention by the sweet ladies who welcome him by name, provide him with his meals and snacks. He's typically aloof and not overly friendly with most strangers but he does get excited when we pull into their parking lot. Great experience with this facility. We had to leave town for a few nights and decided to give dog e den a try. We have NEVER boarded out dogs and this was a first. They explained the entire process. Took note of all the things we do for our dogs and it was perfect. The ability to see you pet on camera helps put you at ease knowing they are fine. The facility is clean. If I could give this joke of a place no stars I would and that's for wasting my time! I reached out to them because I need a RELIABLE place to drop my dog off early in the morning. I was told over & over again there would be no problem to drop my dog off before 6am. I even explained how I had been burned by my old place and they promised oh as long as you call the day before there should be no issue with early drop off. I call the day before (as instructed to remind them of the early drop-off) and so of course, they are a NO-SHOW making me have to miss work because there was no place to take my dog. I'm just shocked they could not perform this task more than ONCE without screwing up. I won't be back and promises of early drop off should not be trusted by these people at all--you'll regret it. WOWZA!! I take my "daughter" Trixie every few months for a FULL GROOMING sesssion with PATTY. She gets really SHAGGY (cocker spaniel/terrier mix), so she like a completely different dog when I pick her up. She's SO HAPPY with PATTY, and I LOVE how she's "smiling" when I pick her up. I took my Golden Retriever to Dog-E-Den during winter. She underwent a temperament test and passed with flying colors. The staff at Dog-E-Den are exceptional. They noticed she was a bit nervous when the other dogs crowded her upon arrival, so they kindly moved the other dogs and helped her acclimate. There is always a staff member present with the dogs, and they are extremely loving and caring. One feature I particularly appreciate is the ability to view the cameras at any time to check on my dog. Additionally, they send pictures at the end of the day, which is a nice touch. For new clients, Dog-E-Den offers a generous promotion: a one-week free pass or a two-day free pass. The one-week pass must be used consecutively (dogs must pass the temperament test), regardless of whether you choose half-days or full-days. In contrast, the two-day pass can be used at any time and does not expire. I opted for the seven-day pass, and it worked out perfectly as it was winter and it rained throughout those seven days. I am not satisfied with their grooming services however. On one occasion, I scheduled a grooming appointment in conjunction with her daycare visit. I dropped her off early to play, with the expectation that the groomer would take her when it was time. Unfortunately, the grooming started very late, and I was told that my dog was giving them a hard time and was scared. This was surprising because she is groomed every 6 to 8 weeks without any issues. When I picked her up, she did not feel as clean as usual and did not have a pleasant smell, although she did not smell bad either. In summary, while Dog-E-Den provides excellent care and attention for daycare, their grooming services did not meet my expectations. read more

When looking for a place to board my dog, I look for a place where I know my dog will be safe, well cared for, and where he will have fun and become "part of the pack. Dog-e-den hits those requirements perfectly! I recently moved to the area and wanted to find a great place to board my dog, since we typically go on vacation a few times a year and can't bring him along. Dog-E-Den without a doubt is the most thorough and attentive place I've been to. The staff really cares about the dogs and it shows. I really appreciate their temperment test and vaccine requirements. It makes me feel much more comfortable knowing all the dogs my dog will be playing with are also comfortable around other dogs. I really enjoy that they keep someone onsite overnight as well, and the report card they send every day seems personal and thought through. I was also pleased to see how they quickly evacuated their dogs from their Hollywood location during one of the fires. It makes me feel a lot better knowing they have plans in place for unexpected events like a fire. Their location is super convenient, close to the 405 and the 101 and parking in the back is easy. Overall, if you're looking for a great daycare and boarding facility for your dog with employees that care about your pup, I would highly recommend Dog-E-Den! read more

My dog has been going to Dog E Den since they opened. Since she was a pup. We've gotten all her grooming done there, and any time we went out of town we sent her there. Fast forward... we booked her for the slumber for a week as we were going to leave town for the holiday. Two days before we leave, they call and tell us we need a temperament test since it's been some time since she did the slumber (even though she's been for grooming). So fine, we went in,... and what I experienced with the manager and staff was insane. First, they take our pup into the entry way prior to to the slumber area, where a million dogs are barking at her and she's super excited.. but they proceeds to struggle for minutes with here collar... the employee had no idea to take it off. When I opened the door slightly to try and help I was met with mad employees like "how dare I'. So I backed away as she continued to struggle in the entry way, all dogs wailing (GREAT WAY TO START A TEMPERAMENT TEST). They then bring her out so I could take her collar off. OK, so test begins... they bring in 3-4 different dogs and have them walk around each other and test. Everything looked good to me. The girl comes out and says she's "not comfortable with her and wants to talk to manager". I told her everything looked fine to me and that our dog has been coming here for 8 years! Manager steps in and begins to pontificate and I try to cut to the chase and ask, so can she stay or not. She then says she wants to do a test. OK. So she takes her and performs the same test. All looks good to me. She then proceeds to take her into the slumber on leash. All looks good to me. She then takes off leash. All looks good. She's in the slumber for about 15 min, manager comes out and says we'd like to keep her for an hour. I say I can't stay for an hour but what is the issue as all looked good to me. More pontificating... "we know dogs", "this is our business", "calm down sir"... like OMFG, I feel as if Im being helped by 2 mean baristas. I pretty much asked for my dog back and told them to refund me and we'd never come back. To make themselves feel better about the situation, they gave me a bit more of the... "we know dogs", "this is our business", "Ive been here for 3 years"... I finally gave them my 2 cents and left. Mind you, booked this weeks ago... and they tell us all this 2 days before we leave for a week. Unreal. I WILL NEVER GO TO DOG E DEN EVER AGAIN. I WILL TELL ALL I KNOW THAT DOG E DEN IS TRASH. If I Could Give 0 Stars, I Would - Throw the Whole Damn Building Away I don't usually leave reviews, but after what happened at Dog-E-Den in Sherman Oaks, I feel absolutely compelled to share my experience. What was supposed to be a routine grooming appointment turned into one of the most hurtful, disrespectful, and unprofessional encounters I've ever had. I trusted this place with my dog, and that trust was completely violated. I gave very clear, specific instructions to the groomer, Patti: just a light trim on my Yorkie's bangs--enough to keep her hair out of her eyes. I even showed her photos, including how my dog had previously been groomed. What I got instead was a full-on buzzcut that completely changed my dog's appearance. She's always had long, beautiful hair--now it's gone, with no warning, no call, no consultation. It was a heartbreaking shock. But the haircut was just the beginning. Patti not only ignored my instructions, but she also went out of her way to do the exact opposite of what I asked. I requested a girly look, yet she deliberately placed a boy dog bow on my female dog--something that felt pointed and intentional. This wasn't a simple mistake; it showed a clear lack of care and respect for my wishes. And then, when I came to pick up my dog, I saw something that truly alarmed me: Patti had my small Yorkie in the same room as a large brown Labrador. My dog was visibly anxious and barking--she does not like big dogs, and seeing her placed in that situation without my consent was infuriating. No other groomer has ever done that. It was unsafe, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. When I tried to express how upset I was, Patti simply shrugged her shoulders and said "oh well," then retreated back into the grooming station and never came back out. No apology. No accountability. Just complete dismissal. I called the manager, April, to explain what had happened. I told her how disappointed I was, how no other groomer had ever treated me this way, and that we wouldn't be returning because of how we were treated. Her response? Over the phone, she said, "You're not welcome here. We don't want your business." That comment felt incredibly hostile--and considering I was the only person of color there, it came off as deeply racist. Whether she meant it that way or not, it left me feeling even more dehumanized and unwelcome. I also explicitly requested the audio recording of my conversation with Patti, because I wanted proof that I clearly asked for a bang trim. I additionally asked for video footage of my dog's time there. April flat-out refused to provide either. Instead, she laughed in my face, called my dog's haircut a "lamb cut" like it was some kind of joke, and then hung up on me. Her tone was rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. To make things even more chaotic, the pricing kept changing. I was quoted $60, then $65, and finally $75--until April said she'd "just charge me for a bath" as if that somehow made everything okay. It didn't. But the most heartbreaking part? My dog has not been the same since that appointment. She's usually a happy, energetic puppy, but ever since we left, she's been withdrawn and clearly not herself. Even my family has noticed, commenting that she seems unhappy and doesn't like her haircut. It's devastating to see her like this, especially when I went out of my way to prevent this very thing. I intentionally avoided places like Petco because I've heard too many horror stories about dogs being buzzed without consent. That was my biggest fear--and it's exactly what happened here. For April and Patti to gaslight me and claim I requested this haircut is beyond outrageous. Everyone who knows me knows I've never wanted my dog to be cut this way--and now, not only has it happened, but I've been blamed for it. The whole energy at this place is off. The staff seem cold, uninterested, and totally checked out. No smiles, no warmth, no care--for the pets or the people. This experience left me feeling betrayed, ignored, and heartbroken. My dog was traumatized, and so was I. I wouldn't send a cockroach here, let alone a beloved pet. This place is a DO NOT RECOMMEND under ANY circumstances. I was looking forward to taking my Puppy here! She appeared to have a good time on the camera. She went to daycare for her very first time from 12:45pm-5:10pm. I requested a nap around 2:45pm/3pm. I picked her up and noticed she was whimpering a little, but figured she was tired. Later that night, I checked her paws and they were so raw. Some areas were missing skin and some had skin hanging off! She did not pee, eat or poop the rest of the night. I consulted with my online vet, who stated it looked like a burn, which can be very painful. My puppy now has booties, bandages, and pain meds. It's day 2 and she is just now starting to slowly walk. I spoke with the owner who states this is "normal" due to puppies not being able to self regulate. I requested a nap, but upon arrival was told she was allowed to play longer because she had too much fun. If this is normal, I would imagine the daycare would assist with self regulating, adhering to naps, and educating puppy parents on how increase friction can cause raw paws. I am very disappointed with this response and lack of responsibility. The front staff were nice which is why I gave two stars. However, if you drop your dog off at daycare, just like a baby, you expect a certain level of supervision. Not your baby to be in worse condition. Would not recommend. read more

This place is awesome! Cece is not very sociable but since I began bringing her here she has joined the pack. She does run and play which is a big change for her. I felt confident enough to leave her overnight when I have to go out of town. There is never a problem when I pick her up. We don't go daily but if I know I will not be at home for a few hours, I will bring her there so she won't be alone. The staff is attentive and very friendly. my fur baby loves this place! at first he was shy and timid but now every time we take him to daycare he gets so excited. The staff all know him by name which is so surprising (we just started taking him less than a month ago). Some staff members stand out more than others like anywhere else but for the most part all the staff have been friendly. Watching the webcams gives me peace of mind because my fur baby means soo much to us. Every time i look at the webcam he is playing and having fun, some of the staff even give him belly rubs and cuddles. The only hiccup we had was at the very beginning when we were given a free week trial; we wanted to use it on a specific week but they said that the free trail started immediately after his temperament test. It wasn't a big set back and we were eager to enroll him so it wasn't a big deal to us, just keep that in mind if you'll be taking advantage of that first free week. Since my last review 4 days ago, I personally reached out to Gene who seems to be the general manager. Went over everything. Was indeed overcharged $60 because according to them my husband and I having a separate account for each dog is confusing at the time of check out. Anyway.. it was never an issue before but we'll leave it as is. Also, the Yelp coupon of 10$ off a full groom has no stipulations about how many times it can be used (as it allows you to check in with it each time and use it) but Gene has now made it clear that it can only be used ONCE. For clarification purposes. To be honest I heard alot of excuses about why I was over charged and why my puppies hair cuts were completely botched BUT I'm glad to have gotten clarification on the situation and a soon to be refund. He also went ahead and gave me a $40 credit for next time for the botchery of the haircuts which I will have to live with seeing my puppies for the next couple of months. The 2 stars IS SOLELY for Gene REFUNDING ME THE OVER CHARGE, GIVING ME THE CREDIT, & IN TRYING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT in his own way. Nothing more, nothing less . I have a puppy with severe separation anxiety. I did extensive research on puppy sitting and day cares before coming to dog e den. Several people in the neighborhood keep asking about this place so I was compelled to write a review. My dog loves playing with others (dog and humans) and loves being loved so I needed to find a place suited for him. Dog e den has rubber flooring (great for puppy joints), someone in the area at all times, the puppies are able to do their business anywhere &someone cleans it right away, large enough area to play, cameras to watch the puppies and open 7 days a week. You'd be surprised at how many other places don't have these. I love that they make sure that all the dogs are fixed and up-to-date with vaccines. Since I have a dog with separation anxiety it was very tough for him the first few times but the staff was very kind and loving towards him and eased his mind. This allowed my dog to be in a safe environment and start understanding how great it can be for him. I have been taking my dog here for a few months, he runs over to the door every time and plays with all of his friends. I will soon bring my dog for overnight boarding and will probably write a second review at that time. For now, I highly recommend dog e den as it has been a savior for both me and my dog read more

I called about boarding our dog, who we adopted through a rescue a year ago. After being asked what kind of dog he is, I truthfully responded that he's an American Staffordshire Terrier & Husky mutt. I was then informed that Dog-E-Den's insurance doesn't allow them to serve certain breeds, including American Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc. While I understand that prejudices against these breeds exist, it never occurred to me that they'd be enforced in a facility that caters to dogs. It also didn't seem to matter that my dog is a mix of breeds - sounds like I might have been better off having never gotten the DNA test & not knowing. The staff was helpful and apologetic, but it's a real bummer they don't make it more apparent on their website that there's a decent percentage of dogs they're not able to accommodate. read more

I absolutely love this place!!!! The staff is wonderful! Always happy, helpful, friendly, and very sweet to all of the dogs! (Shout out to April, Hailey, Mai, & Brooke!) I feel very comfortable leaving my dachshund, Zoe, here and love that i can watch her on the dog cam to see what she's up to. I enjoy watching her run around and appreciate how the staff interacts with the dogs. If a dog wants to be pet or held, it happens, and i love that the staff truly cares! When we arrive there, Zoe is excited to go in and when i pick her up, she is exhausted and falls asleep on the ride home! I also receive a report card to let me know how her day was and there are always great pictures attached! There's always parking in the back and sometimes metered parking in the front, so you never have to worry about finding a spot. I really love this place. I have been using the daycare for several months. My dog loves it here. Gets excited to go in. Front desk staff, warm and welcoming. Large windows face the street where you can watch the dogs play. I'm grateful to have a safe environment to leave my dog for hours at a time. Every day you receive a picture report card of your dog's experience. I love that small amenity. I haven't done overnight boarding yet, but I will be. Not only are we happy with this place, but more importantly, our dog loves it. Whether for day care or a multi-night slumber party, she is always beyond excited when she knows she's on her way over there. She was a rescue, and used to bark at every dog she passed on walks, but since being socialized so beautifully at the Dog-E-Den, now she just wants to say hello nicely to all the other dogs in the neighborhood. We are also very happy with the grooming services -- and she's a squirmer! Recently, when she was staying there overnight for several days, her seasonal allergies kicked in unexpectedly, and the staff went to great lengths to contact us, keep us in the loop, and take extra good care of her until we could return home. RESPONSE TO OWNER'S COMMENTS ON 6/7/21: Let's be clear I NEVER "insinuated" that rescue dogs shouldn't be permitted in private daycare environments. We love and support rescues. In fact, my family and I have rescued many, many dogs throughout the years! Our parents just rescued a dog that was found in the streets during the beginning of COVID and I rescued the dog in my Yelp profile from a family that abused him. So your accusations are meritless. Regardless, you are clearly missing the point. The point is that we entrusted you to take care of our dog and she was attacked on your watch. Although you're falsely claiming that "none of your rescue dogs has ever attacked another daycare dog," it was YOUR employee that called us to inform us that our dog was attacked by a new rescue that your company just took in. She said that the rescue had not been properly socialized which led to the altercation. My husband and I both spoke to your employees (including a manager) at your facility about the attack and aftermath. So even though you don't want to admit it, we all know the truth. A rescue HAS attacked another dog at your daycare - our dog! You charge a substantial premium for your services and people entrust their precious animals with you. Yet, in her visit following the attack (we had already purchased a package so we wanted to see how she did after being assured it would not happen again and that your company removed the aggressive dog from your care the day after the incident) you allowed our little girl to cower and shake in the corner for hours and nobody did anything. We could see it on the live cams. NO attempt was made by staff to try to help reintegrate her and make sure she was okay. She was just left there in fear, all by herself with no employee in site. On top of that, when we called to tell your employees what we saw on your live cam they turned off the live cam feed immediately after our phone call. Instead of accepting responsibility or even offering a simple apology, you try diverting the attention by placing focus on animal rescues while ignoring the fact that our dog - who was well known to your staff as being a sweet, outgoing, playful pup was mistreated by your company; and now you're attacking my integrity for leaving an honest review about your services. Shame on you! That speaks volumes about your character and your leadership at Dog-e-Den. There are plenty of better doggy daycare choices out there. Ones that won't traumatize your dog and/or try blaming their own inadequacies on others. read more

When I came back to wait for my dog finishing his bath, I was horrified to hear them literally blasting a heavy metal album in the grooming area, which is a pretty small room. How is this even close to appropriate? It's like sound torture for the poor dogs in there. Never, ever coming back here again. If you're looking for a "spa" vibe, look elsewhere. I've tried this place a few times. The first time I just figured was a bad experience because I had been recommended by someone. Every time I go, the staff gives attitude and they aren't engaging with the dogs at all. The place smells like dog pee as soon as you walk in and when I asked the staff how my puppy did his first day she said "Good, probably peed a few times all over the place" Like what kind of response is that?! Normally a daycare would say something more like "Good, he played with the other dogs and enjoyed his time" Right? Anyways, unfortunately I have tried to come in a few times with my dog and everytime there's an issue and I will no longer be going to this daycare. They charge high prices for low quality, save your money and go somewhere else!! read more

Unfortunately they were not transparent anywhere on their website or on forms/emails that they do not accept any type of Pit Bull mixed breed. It's so disappointing that we wasted time and energy setting up an appointment at a place that eventually said our dog isn't even allowed to come to the building without EVER MEETING HER. Just wanted to leave this here to hopefully help save other owners of sweetheart dogs the time and energy of getting their hopes up. read more
