I did not have a good experience here and it is one of those things that people should know about. My dog had been here maybe a dozen times with no problem. Usually someone backs the LARGE amount of dogs away from the gate and just walks my dog in on a leash. I never let the large amount of dogs bother me before since they have cameras and I could check up on them. I would often check and no one was in the rooms. With such a large amount of dogs this was annoying, but I never said anything. Then, one day, I dropped my dog off and no one thought it was important to get the dozen dogs back from the entry gate so my dog could go through. So he resisted doing it without a leash on. I have always seen them just put a rope leash on him and lead him in so the next thing that happened was very alarming. My dog showed more fear the more they tried to nudge him in. Then the woman bent over my 80lb dog and lifted him off the ground to 'toss' him into the pen. Obviously, he is so heavy she struggled with that so he freaked and turned to the door and jumped up and started pawing at the door handle. This broke my heart because he has arthritis in his back hip area and we haven't seen him jump like that in almost 2 years. He must have been so frightened and I could hear him whining through the door. Of course by this time I had made my way over and he saw me which made him worse of course wanting to get out of that awful situation. Any other dog would have bit the girl! How could anyone with any common sense pick up a fearful dog to push them into the situation that is making them uncomfortable. I can't believe that with those mistakes they don't get bit on a regular basis! One of the women tried to explain to me how this could be a good strategy with some dogs. Nope, sorry, nice try, but I know better! The owner did apologize and say that it was definitely NOT regular protocol to do that. While I appreciate that and I know how hard it can be to have employees on the same page-it seems to me that just 'loving dogs' is NOT enough in that kind of environment. I unfortunately assumed the staff had to have some basic animal behavior knowledge and common sense. I was wrong and my poor dog paid the price. I could go into more detail about it, but I am trying to just stick to the facts without getting over emotional-which is hard. We spent a long time trying to calm him down so he wouldn't leave their freaking out, but it was very difficult and the next day care he is now going to is better, but the first day I brought him into it he just shook and shook and whined-a behavior I've never seen from him this bad and I know it is because of the similar atmosphere. Thank goodness I have the means to create a memory somewhere else, but I hope no one else has to go through that. On a side note-I came in a few days later to see if the owner was there to talk to-which he wasn't and a woman was there waiting for her dog to be brought back from the vet. Apparently there had been a dog fight so bad the dog had puncture wound(s) and no one was even in there so it escalated out of control. The woman was freaking out because no one was even in there to stop the escalation. Her dog had become submissive and the other dog did not stop going after it. Please, if you have read this, just don't risk it and find somewhere else, get a dog walker, or a friend to take care of your pet. read more

First of all let me state that I am an urgent care doctor, very level headed, and do not like leaving negative reviews, or get upset unless something goes very wrong. That being said I dropped my German Sheppard off on Saturday for a one night stay and hair cut, and they refused to show me where he was going to be lodged, because dogs were eating. Which didn't make any sense, and my "bullsh*t" meter started to go off. It was then I looked into the dog play area and saw about 20 large dogs packed into a way too small area with 2 employees spraying water onto the dogs from water sprayers for control, they weren't playing with the dogs, the dogs were sardined in, and the whole facility seemed understaffed and employees a bit on edge. After being quoted $65 for the haircut, the employee told me that he would be isolated in the groomer section until I picked him up, I said don't be ridiculous, let him play after the haircut or else I'll have to exercise him after I pick him up. The next day I pick my dog up, he's not even in the playroom, I ask where my dog is? They say he has been in grooming, been there for 4 hours because that's where they hold dogs after getting groomed. and it was going to be a $90 charge for the haircut. I told the cashier I was quoted $65 and told the previous employee to let him play after getting the haircut, she lowered the price and apologized. And I was ok with that, mistakes happen, no big deal. What bothers me, and the reason I'm writing this is because after picking up my dog, he immediately urinated for over 2 minutes straight, which he only does if confined for a long period. Again, could be just an oversight by the groomers not letting the dogs use the bathroom on a busy weekend. But immediately after urinating for over 2 minutes he runs to his water bowl and drinks 3 large bowls of water, extremely uncharacteristic of my dog. Has been drinking all night. Again busy, understaffed facility, overlooked the fact that my dog needs to drink water, and urinate, things are starting to upset me. He has multiple areas of irritated skin all over his body that is very tender and RAW, from the grooming. Finally, and the absolute worst part about the whole experience is that my originally loving, happy, playful dog, will not interact with me or our family, is jumpy, wont make eye contact, or come when we call. He doest want to be pet, or scratched and I've never seen him like this before. Ive worked with both abused animals and abused children in my career, and they all presented with the same characteristics . My wife called the facility to ask what the hell happened, and there was no manager working, the lady on the phone didn't have any answers, and we have to wait until Tuesday to talk to a manager. I have a very easy going dog, he is service dog, and works at my urgent care clinic with me. He has stayed at plenty of boarding facilities, never any problems at dog parks, but professionally I believe something happened there that traumatized him. Whether it was the over booked, under staffed facility, unknown boarding environment, prison yard style play room, K9 LOFT returned my dog, my part of my family, in the worst emotional shape I've ever seen him. I just read the other yelp reviews and other people who had their German Sheppard groomed there report the EXACT same thing. read more

I have never written a yelp review before, but my experience was unbelievable. I have been a long time customer and I have seen various new employees over the years, but this new red head receptionist women was beyond unprofessional. From the start she was on the phone ignoring us ( THE CUSTOMERS) lining up waiting for her to put the phone down. Once she does this woman helps customers one at a time giving attitude. Once she got to me she did not ask if I wanted a receipt, she did not stamp my frequent buyers card, she almost overcharged me, and once I finally received my dog his collar came off due her not putting it on correctly. I asked her if she knew how to put it on but the only response I got back from her was a smile and giggle. I let it go because I once worked in retail, but as I started to shop around the store I overhear her talking about MY WEIGHT to her fellow employee. I immediately walked out of there and I do not ever want to come back. K9 loft needs to train their employees on manners and basic customer service. I would have let it go, but this was not the first time I see this woman act this way. I was hoping it would be the new employee quirks that I once had, but it does not seem like it. I am giving them two stars because the other receptionists are not as bad and have always been honest and kind. I hope the owner acknowledges this and takes action. I have never left somewhere feeling insecure and so judged. Now I question how my dog was cared for here if they treat the people so negatively. read more

This is a great store! We buy our dogs food here, which we previously had to order online and I love their treat selection! My dogs have been here for grooming and we step in on our walks as well to browse toys and treats. You can see the room where the dogs are in daycare from the store - it is very entertaining and the only place I have ever seen that. One of my dogs - A Cocker Spaniel - has long hair and gets haircuts, the other is a shorthaired Mix and just gets bathed. A groomer always comes out to ask how we would like our dog groomed and they write it all down and call you when the dog is done. We never had any complaints and the one time I wanted the ears and head cut more they had it fixed right away. The people there are very nice, it does get busy and then everyone seemed a little rushed but they still answered my questions and dealt with me in a professional manner. I read a bunch of the reviews and after that decided to post a positive opinion because I believe if you just take the time to tell the groomers what you want they will do their best to make it right. This is a good place and I am comfortable taking my business there. read more

Sometimes finding the time to get my dog to the groomer can be a challenge, so I like trying out the mobile groomers. I had seen that this groomer was launching and made an appointment for my dog, Cleo. I was super impressed with the service. They arrived on time, the van was clean, and I felt the price was fair and reasonable. The groomer was very friendly, super knowledgable and paid attention to my concerns. (My dog gets ear infections, and I always need them to make sure water doesn't get in her ears). I was really happy about how Cleo was treated. She wasn't as afraid, because she was still near her home and didn't have the stress of going to different location. Her nails were trimmed and filed. Of course, she was cleared and didn't have a highly perfumed scent about her. I was able to feel that my time was available to still do what I needed to at home, but knowing I was nearby in case it was needed. All in all, I am very satisfied and would highly recommend K9Loft Mobile Grooming. read more

I had to make a yelp account just to write this. I have been bringing my dog here for some time now and I have noticed that most employees are GREAT but others (tall white guy) are rude. For example tonight, Wednesday, I watched the difference between two employees. The female working tonight was so playful, hugging the dogs, giving them pats, and walking around. Compared to when she went out and the guy (tall glasses Caucasian ) was inside he was CLEARLY yelling and being a little too rough with the dogs. Most times he seemed to disappear behind the camera and since he is tall you can see his annoyed face. This place is great expect for the employees that clearly don't care. Shout out the the girl that protected my dog and sat with her to calm her down. I don't know you're name but you have black hair and are very petite. Where do i begin? I passed by this place to see about getting my kitty a safe haven to stay at while i take my annual trip to Canada. I always have family or friends watch Kola while i am away, but this year, there is no one available. I heard about k9loft through a buddy of mine, and he and his wife were raving about the staff and the atmosphere. I decided to call for a tour and spoke with Patty or Patrice as she said. She was so bubbly and energetic, and told me to come right in. No appt needed. So i did just that, and when I arrived, Guess who was there waiting for me? Patty greeted me with a radiant smile and made me feel right at home! I plan to leave Kola in the fall, and plan to utilize all the services that i thought were only for dogs. I have taken my mom's dogs to K9 Loft for grooming. We were pretty burned in the past, taking them to Petco and a few other places in the valley who pretty much always got it wrong. When you go here they set appointments and that is great because your dog doesn't have to wait. You come in and they know who you are and the groomer's are actually talking to you so you can tell them how you want your dog done. We have had no problems! The dogs always looked great. Plus the one time the ears were too long they the groomer took him right back and cut them shorter and we watched through the window. If my mom's dog's wouldn't be so scared of other dogs I would try daycare too. I love watching the dogs play, they seem to have a good time! read more

My wife and I have loved coming here for years. It came up to our attention today that the staff has had a heavy rotation in the employment at k9loft..... Most of the associates are friendly, but upon dropping off for dog camp I noticed it was the pet teeth cleaning. I understood that it was a busy day but a young skinny man was clearly upset that I arrived and became upset that a friendly young lady helped me fill out the papers as I held my pets. Said man did not notice me on the floor as the man made remarks that I was rude for coming in with no scheduled appt. and wait time must apply no exceptions. Daycare is fantastic but new staff are childish and do not care for the customers satisfaction. read more

They gave our new English Bulldog Vaccinations. We had our dog in the daycare program at k9 loft. They told us that they were giving Bordetella vaccination. 2hrs later returned and they were hooking her up to an IV of Benadryl, along with an oxygen mask. Next day, head swelling finally went down. Now have a bout of "cherry eye", not sure if brought on by the vaccination, or just happened to surface at the same time with these issues. Really upset that Bordetella is NOT a required vaccination - along with the fact that NO WARNING about possible SIDE-EFFECTS. We never went back to this place, and now we find out that there is no doctor on site!!! We are beyond angry. THIS IS JUST AWFUL read more

Update on my previous review. So I finally tried them out for the non-anesthetic dental cleaning last Sunday. I have never done this for my dog so was a little nervous. First, their vet Dr. Zoryan came out and did a little examination on the teeth. She was very friendly and took her time with my pup (he can be a little difficult at times). Then a technician took her and started the teeth cleaning. 30 minutes later my pup comes out with sparkling white teeth. The difference was really remarkable. I was surprised they were able to do such a great cleaning without anesthesia. Overall, the experience was great. Im planning to get a check up every 6 months now. read more

I love my Boston Terrier Ruby about as much as my boyfriend. Well... I hope he doesn't see this. : ) Ruby and I have been together since she was 2 months old. When I went away I researched where was the best place to board her. Then someone told me about K9. I liked from the moment I walked in. They had TV screens so you could watch the big dogs playing with the little dogs. Ruby came in to see how she got along with the other little dogs. She did great. I kind of hate the idea of leaving her but I feel like they will do a good job with day care and boarding. The people here are very nice and seem to genuinely love animals. read more

The teeth cleaning service at K9 loft is great. It is non-anethesia and only takes about 45 minutes. The evaluation was what impressed me. The vet explored every tooth and found lots of tooth decay, loose teeth, recessed gums, etc on my 8 yr old dog. She referred me to a vet that does anesthesia cleaning and tooth removal in Burbank, which I will take m dog to soon. There is only so much that non anesthesia can do, but i'm glad her teeth are clean and well inspected. The shop does get a little crazy busy during the weekend, so I usually come in during the week to buy food. read more

After visiting the 10+ daycares that are on Ventura. This place is fantastic! We noticed a few daycares won't show you the behind the doors or where the dogs sleep which was a red flag for us being first time dog owners and hearing many scary stories. Stephanie walked us around and gave us a great tour showing us the rooms upstairs, the daycares, requirements and even took time to show us where to park. We watched someone argue over their vaccine rules and we are so happy that they stuck by their rules. We are so excited to come back for another day of daycare! read more

I think I have found my new groomers. Finally! Happened to be driving by last week and decided to pop in and check the place out. Loved it immediately. The staff was very nice and seemed like genuine dog lovers. The grooming room was really cool, with a window so you could look in and watch the groomers cut your dog. I made an appointment for the next day brought her in for the cut and was very pleased. The price was good and the cut was amazing. I definitely recommend this place. read more

The staff is nice and friendly. (4 stars) The negative is a short man always trying to flirt with me as I drop off my dog. (1 star) Unprofessional and strange. Great treats and large food selection. (5 stars) Daycare is very safe and open. (5+stars) Overall: 15/20 stars. Needs work on professionalism and boundaries. No need to be asked if I am single or not when I am leaving my doggy.
