Let me start off by saying that our dog is a Velcro pup and does not ever leave our sides so when we do leave, she becomes depressed. We have only boarded her at CityVet and after that horrible experience, I swore I would never board her again. When we were going out of town for a week and needed to find a new boarding facility, I did plenty of research. Dog House answered my millions of questions, gave me TWO tours (at different hours), was extra friendly to my four-legged child, gave every dog attention, and made me feel 100% secure leaving my pup there. Before you drop off your baby, they have to go through a two hour trial. This made me feel safe because they actually take the time to make sure it's a good fit. And yes, they do turn dogs away. Our dog isn't aggressive but isn't much of a doggie socialite. She likes humans. (we gave up on Dog parks by she just gravitates to all the humans.) So I was worried that she would be shy and scared when I dropped her off. But to our surprise, she was as happy as could be when I came to pick her up. (In case you were wondering, she passed.) When it came to dropping off Collins for boarding, they let me bring her bed and a toy. (Most places don't allow that.) Although you run the risk of the personal belongings coming back completely destroyed, ours came back in the same shape! I separated her food in individual baggies to save an extra $3 a night. When we went to leave her, she must have remembered how much fun she had during her trial because she ran through the gate and didn't even hesitate to say goodbye. (I felt like a mother dropping her child off at kindergarten...) I checked the Facebook page anxiously for pictures of Collins to make sure she was okay. I called Dog House and asked for updates and they always gave me detailed updates of what she was getting into and told me who her "friends" were. Never once did they get annoyed by my paranoia! Now when it came to picking her up, I knew I needed to write this review because not only was my child wagging her tail uncontrollably and excited to see me, but she was excited to hug and see all the staff at Dog House. The staff knew all the dogs names. (They actually knew her name because I forgot to put her tags on her so I know they weren't cheating.) The staff took care of her and were extremely helpful! Collins came back with no (additional) bad habits, still extremely happy and not a single pound lost! No cuts, bites, sicknesses, or fleas! We will definitely be taking her for day play and back for boarding. Besides, seems like she probably likes Dog House on the Trail more than she likes being home now... read more

Very strange place from the get-go. I definitely understand cage and kennel-free, but to be completely divider-free seems to me a bit reckless, especially when the dogs are unattended at night. The dogs being boarded are all put in a room, "Split up by size and temperament," and left there to sleep at night before play time in the backyard during the day. I went to pick up my dog after being boarded for a weekend and was told he was not welcome back because he was "Scarily unpredictable," - a sentiment I could understand for other rescues but have never heard before regarding my own dog who has been boarded many many times and has been around many other dogs. Also a sentiment I would've appreciated to have heard before the day of pick up as I was only a 4 hour drive away in Austin and would have come and picked him up if he was such a menace - a phone call would have worked just fine, I received zero communication all weekend. I would urge potential customers to stop by and check out the facilities before committing here and making sure it's a good fit for you and your dog - it wasn't for mine. read more

My dog, Wally, has been going to Dog House on the Trail for 2+ years now and he absolutely loves it! He gets so excited when I ask him if he wants to go to "school" in the morning and he comes home exhausted at night. I love seeing pictures of him playing on Facebook and love knowing he is in good hands. The taxi service was a godsend pre-pandemic too. Highly recommend! read more

All Concrete - loud, reeks of urine. Dogs all held together, no quiet time. No wonder the staff is so rude..it must be awful to work in a place kept this way. I watched bizarre interaction between two customers and a male. employee. Would not have let him speak to my dog that way, much less customers! We left without using the place after our visit. We began using PetLofts off I-35E at Medical District. They come home clean, have some privacy during the day, the place is immaculate, and the staff? Perfect. Look elsewhere. My pup loves this place, every morning he gets up and *I think* he wonders when we are going to the Doghouse! He runs, jumps into the car, and upon arrival sprints to the door to go play with his friends. The people know him by name after only going for a few weeks and take a ton of pictures and post them on Facebook. That way I can keep up with my puppy all day long. It is the cutest to see him with all of his friends, 3 times a day. read more

This place is the worst.. Dogs barking and over crowded, When I picked up my dog, he was really distressed and smelt terrible I heard the staff screaming at the dogs. I am told they leave dogs locked up unattended all night too. I am reporting them to the authorities after the Holidays read more

Got sucked in with the Groupon, and now I bring my 9 month old standard schnauzer there every day. The staff is great - I don't know how they know all of the dogs' names and personalities, but I can easily tell they genuinely care about them. The beat part is knowing that my puppy is interacting with others and comes home exhausted! read more

The staff is great. My dogs tail starts wagging the second we pull into the parking lot, which makes me feel great about taking her there instead of being home alone. Only criticism is that 6:00 is too early to close. Not always easy to get there in time with Dallas traffic unless you can walk out the door at 5 on the dot, which is not always easy. read more

I love this place! They make it a point to remember you and your dog's name. My little girl is always tired and happy when she comes home plus she always cries when she leaves because she doesn't want to leave. It's so much fun for her there and it's great to see her photos on their facebook every couple hours. Worth every single penny I have to send her there. read more

Love this place!! Our dog, Charlie, is anxious and gets scared by new people/places easily - which has caused issues in the past when we've needed to board him. At other boarders, he is often a nervous wreck before and after the experience. Dog House on the Trail is the first place that Charlie has felt comfortable. The staff understands that he is fearful and have really gone out of their way to make him feel less anxious - and it has paid off! When we dropped Charlie off for his trial stay (a few hours on a Saturday) we were thrilled to hear that the manager observed Charlie's behavior and instantly understood that he was scared. We so appreciate the loving care they give our two dogs when we need them boarded. Now I don't trust any other boarder with our dogs - we love Dog House on the Trail! read more

We use this facility for boarding and they always take great care of our high energy pup. Every time I turn onto the street where this place is, my dog goes CRAZY with excitement. Friendly and accommodating staff. Crate-free boarding. Also nice that they post photos of the dogs all day on their Facebook page. I'm shocked that I'm the first to review this place. My socially awkward 3 1/2 month old wheaten terrier loves it there! I've toured other dog day cares in the area and it's much nicer than most. They have a huge outdoor area where the dogs can romp and play and and a nice indoor area with large rooms too. The staff will answer any questions you have and is always on watch to keep everyone in line. It's also nice to have a place to get rid of puppy energy while I'm at work all day. read more

They were very nice to my dog who is a little anxious( why I take her as she gets seperation anxiety) she is a catahoula mix and the staff knows her and cares about her especially when the trash man comes as she is scared of the truck! They do tend to be a bit over crowded sometimes which causes a little chaos but overall the staff cares! read more

This is my first time writing review on the yelp and I'm glad I'm doing it. Our puppy loves Dog House On the Trail. She's been to many different places due to her lack of immune system. She always got sick after other daycare or boarding centers. However, she is always healthy as usual after the daycare at this place and sleep through the evening and night which we LOVE! I think because of the location, the pups are well-vaccinated and taken care of by owners, if I may say. Staff is really friendly and helpful here also. It's very cozy and pricing is pretty standard. I absolutely love the staff and environment of Dog House. I have one outgoing, playful pup and one super shy older dog, and they both get great personal attention and care. I also love that they post pictures throughout the day. My only complaint is that the past few times I have boarded my pups there, they have lost several of their belongings (a collar and a bed), even though they were labeled. So while I would not suggest taking your own bed, blankets, etc. with your pup to board, I highly recommend the staff and location. read more

I called in to this place WHILE en route to their location. They were more than accommodating and even worked with me to get great pricing even though the Groupon I wanted to use was sold out. I left my two furbabies there for two days.....and a day and a half later they are SITLL WORN OUT. The place seems to have a set clientele who regularly bring their dog in every morning! My only drawback is that the only outside play area is concrete. That made me nervous because my dogs are both rough-housers and I'd prefer lawn. The best part is the constant pictures they post! On the first day of my dog's stay they posted no less than 50 pictures of playtime. Needless to say I didn't get any work done that day! read more
