They have ceremonial grade matcha powder and not the sugary powder stuff which was much appreciated! They are nut free so when we asked for almond milk the staff was super accommodating in letting us know our options. We both added a bit of lavender syrup in the matcha and they were perfect. You also immediately recognize that the interior design features old equipment on display, calligraphy on message boards, and crafty, handmade products for purchase which resemble a previous American time periods. The staff here are also friendly and assist by offering purchase recommendations. There mission here is to honor the military community and they accomplish this by incorporating this sentiment into their decor. Overall the baked goods, both sweet and savory, are delicious. I do appreciate the attention to detail and quality in their baked goods. Pride certainly was at the forefront of decision-making when this shop first opened and it seems 10 years later they're holding on to their business values. This was a location that was part of a food tour that I was a part of. Besides being a bakery, they offered a fellowship program to help veterans. This was also a non-profit organization on top of that program. Besides typical baked goods, they also served breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I was able to have butterscotch blondie. This was very tasty. The blondie was of good size and was sweet, but not overly sugary where it was a concern. My favorite part of this was the texture. We walked in and an employee (wearing apron) was sitting at the most desirable table (in the dining area) scrolling on a phone making herself comfortable. So off putting. Came here before closing and managed to snag the sandwich and one side combination ($12.95 + tax, so $14+) so I chose "The Jesuit in Chief - Turkey and Brie" and a bag of sea salt chips. Sadly, these sandwiches are pre-made, so the overall sandwich doesn't taste as fresh. I really like the cranberry mayonnaise as it was a bit sweet. Love the brie cheese mixed with the turkey. Good bread, too! Overall, quite tasty. However, the sandwich is pretty small and probably not worth $14. I prefer the Cat Tag Bakery, but there's a Claws in my Yelp contract saying I have to review this place, and so Fur I've been able to honour it. So, here's proof that Propaganda can be tasty. This Bakery is basically dedicated to the Army - which usually wouldn't be my thing at all, but the products are definitely good, and service is really nice. As you can see from my pictures, I enjoyed the spectacular muffins, the lovely service, the decor, I hung out here for quite awhile and it was awesome. I even talked to a stunning brunette girl for awhile, so I definitely consider it a nice place to socialize and get hit on by girls that I once thought were far too pretty to be hitting on me. I think Dog Tag, or some extreme right-winger, got this review removed because of what is below, but that's a massive irony, isn't it. Freedom, and all that. And it's totally relevant because it's a compliment to this bakery that, despite my very very strong feelings on these subjects, I still gave them a very good rating. And I've also explained why. So me giving this place 4 stars is actually pretty wild, considering I'm not a fan of anything military-related and I believe war is obsolete, unneccessary, and 100% manipulated by the elite and the 1% for their own ends - especially American wars. Having said that, while all of us are to blame - and some more than others - you can't really pin the majority of the blame on soldiers, cuz most of them either feel like they have no option but to enlist (often for financial reasons, considering the obscene cost of an education - should be free), or they genuinely don't know any better, and have drunk the Kool Aid from birth, like most of you probably have if you're frequenting this bakery while loving its mission and motifs. In conclusion. Everybody should lay down their guns regardless of what lies they're being told - and instead come and check out Dog Tag Bakery and eat some of the deliciousness they're being sold. And if I get into adult movies, I'll probably prefer the Thot Gag Bakery. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to Dog Tag Bakery. It is centrally located in Georgetown making it a great place to stop during your weekend shopping outing or break from classes. I had a standard latte for about $5.60. I would say the quality was certainly there. I was way too full from lunch to eat any of their deserts but I definitely want to come back since they look so delicious. Lastly, the staff was so sweet and attentive. I've worked in Georgetown for 17 years and I've been coming to DTB since opening. I love the product and I used to love the staff, but lately the workers at the register do not provide good customer service. I'm specifically talking about the morning staff. The boy that took care of me and my co-workers this morning around 7:30am has an attitude all the time and does not represent you guys at all. I am used to the attention to details just the way it used to be. Product is expensive and I am willing to pay for good quality of food, but not for the poor service. Both huge for me for bakeries. And since this is a bakery, yes, the baked goods are all so yummy!! It's hard to decide what to go with but you can never go wrong. The sandwiches are a little expensive for their size, but I guess this is Georgetown after all! I just had their butternut squash on focaccia sandwich and it was so yummy!!! The bread was soft and the bread and butternut squash & yellow squash weren't overly oily. I liked the addition of the roasted and raw red onion that added a crunch and nice flavor to the sandwich. I love this bakery, and the cake is amazinggggg! I ordered a small cake from here for a friends birthday last minute. Called in the morning, and they saved the cake for me until about 5pm. This is a nice spot if you're looking for an affordable bakery in Georgetown. It's off the beaten path but still so close the Main Street. The great part too is there's a little bit of outdoor seating just across the street. I got the cinnamon roll and the staff member asked if I wanted it warmed. The icing was nice but felt a bit dry inside. This of course is just personal opinion and others might love it! I thought the item was very reasonably priced. My total was $3 a steal here in DC! I really like everything about this place! From the outside, Dog Tag Bakery may seem like your typical bakery and coffee shop. But once inside, you quickly realize this place is offers more than just a hot cup of joe and tasty baked goods. The bakery supports our veterans and serves as a way to help them transition back into civilian life. This transition is very special and the job training/employment opportunities provided by this little bakeshop, are beyond commendable. In fact, the impact goes a long way in supporting veterans and their families tremendously. From the minute you walk-in, you feel a sense of pride within the place. The place is decked out in everything red, white and blue --very patriotic! You see workers engaged with customers and salivating baked goods everywhere. They offer lots of choices from pies, cakes, cookies, malt shakes and more. One of the coolest standouts in the place, is the massive chandelier made from thousands of military dog tags! How cool is that?!! The vibe is very relaxing and chill. And, the sweets are...a thumbs up too!! On this day, I tried a slice of carrot cake that was delicious! It was so moist, dense and fresh. The bits of carrot, smells of cinnamon, nutmeg and spices...were all speaking to me. I almost thought my Grand Ma was in the kitchen!! I would admit though, that I was not particularly a fan of the icing. It was too light and sweet. Being from the South, I think the only way to serve a proper carrot-cake is with "cream-cheese icing." It give the cake and overall taste, a better balance imho....and the only way to serve this baby! It's all good though. I totally enjoyed it and did not leave a crumb. I also grabbed a brownie to go and MAN!!....to my surprise, it stole my heart! lol. I forgot I left it on the passenger seat of my car while in the gym. When I returned to my car, it was warmed and semi-melted from the summer heat. I figured oh well...no biggie...I'll let it cool off and will eat it at home. Well, that thought didn't last! I couldn't resist the smells and seeing all the chocolate melted in the package made my mouth-water. Needless to say, I crushed it! The brownie was definitely my favorite for sure. Talk about heaven...there was "chocolate goo" everywhere...all over my car seat, hands, face and steering wheel!! I'm actually surprised there aren't more places in DC that work to empower lives of veterans and veteran families (if there are, PM me and let me know where!). So that gives it a bit bonus in my books. I had kind of a mixed experience here, though. I came for lunch with a friend and we were both extremely underwhelmed with our sandwiches (which, it is important to note, are all pre-made). The menu listed a few items that were not available (switched out for different seasonal items, but I feel that should be reflected with an updated menu). The sandwich I wanted contained an ingredient I am allergic to, and when I asked about getting the sandwich without that ingredient they told me "not possible" since they are all pre-made. When a pre-made lunch sandwich costs $10+, you'd expect it to be exceptional...and the one I settled on (The Captain) was pretty meh. HOWEVER, the sweet baked goods are where they shine here. The cookies are worth the trip alone and I dare say the chocolate chip cookies are some of the best in DC. Bright, inviting cafe that employs, trains, and benefits veterans and military families. My first impression was the heavenly smell when I walked in and I was immediately happy to be there. The space is well-lit, warm, and attractive, especially with the cheerful Christmas tree up right now. Service is efficient; it probably took me longer to select my tasty treats than it took to prepare my order. There's a high chair available but because the tables were fairly close together I had to invade the space of the neighboring table. However, it's a pleasant, laidback crowd so still felt kid friendly. Next time if I go with kids I'll sit at the booths for more room. Food was delicious: I loved the green tomato in the breakfast sandwich. The Christmas morning bread with walnuts, cranberries, and chocolate chips was not overly sweet.
