    Butternut Squash Pastry and Elote
    Lauren B.

Rose Ave Bakery is the best bakery I've ever been to! They have a huge selection of Asian inspired pastries, with really unique and complex offerings. I tried 5 of their pastries - the butternut squash curry one, miso honey garlic salt bread (my favorite!), elote, mochi donut holes, and ube kouign amann. They were all great, with the butternut squash and miso garlic honey ones being the standouts. There was a line out the door the whole time we were there, but it moved fairly quickly. There is limited seating with limited space due to the large line. I would absolutely return. This place is seriously so awesome!

Rose Ave has a line going out the door. I had to check this place out. Interior is very instagrammable. Customer service was great. I got their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and their saigon cinnamon banana latte. This was delicious. I have never had a banana latte before. I would say it's worth trying. But the breakfast sandwich was flavorless. I would skip that completely.

The pastries are so good you kind of feel bad eating them bc you know every bite is closer to being finished! I tasted 4 treats - and all rocked my flavor buds! The black sesame cookie - the black sesame donut - the black sesame super crazy stuffed croissant (notice a theme?) and the passion fruit donut. Stunning. Delicious. Friendly. Gorgeous aesthetic. Cool vibe. I will be back again and again.

We ordered six pastries My favorites were the s'mores croissant and the corn chili elote donut which says a lot because I'm usually not into donuts or s'mores-flavored desserts. The donuts themselves were light and perfectly sugared, but I did wish there was a bit more filling overall. The corn chili elote donut had the most toppings by far, which is probably why it ended up being my favorite. The s'mores croissant was a standout the chocolate filling was more of a pudding-like texture and paired perfectly with my morning coffee. Flavor-wise, they really nailed it. I just wish there was a more generous filling-to-dough ratio!

Such a spacious and beautiful bakery--plenty of seatings. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Saigon Banana Latte and it was really good with truly having the banana flavor shine through. For bakery goods I ordered the Pandan Coconut Sticky Rice and it is phenomenal. Satisfies my Pandan craving and love the "chè" texture that this dessert gives. I also got the Strawberry Passionfruit Cake slice and it was amazing. The cake icing was really good as it just complimented the cake and did not overpower being too sweet.

The pastries are so good including the drinks. The service was great and the team is good at what they do to make customers feel good. The space is cozy, nice to study, spend time with friends and co-working.

Yummy!! Really worth trying. Great flavors and the coffee was delicious. Line is long but goes quick so don't be scared. Inside has some tables and people do go in and out but if you see a table, grab it.

Food The scallion bun was really good. Nice and flaky, but a bit messy so be prepared. The focaccia I would not get again, it was just okay. Nothing really flavorful and a bit more dense than I was expecting it. The standout continues to be the black sesame cookie, nice and nutty and balanced with the sugar cookie base. Service Fast and they know how to keep the line moving. Granted we were there right when it opened and even when the line is busy they make sure that you are never waiting too long. Ambiance Plenty of tables to hang out at. During peak times you may be waiting for somewhere to sit, but people move and are respectful to know when to leave.

I love the pastries here!! The passionfruit donut is my favorite- so fluffy and delicious! The passionfruit cream is tart and sweet - the perfect combo. They have seating indoors, but not too many since it is in DC. Street parking isn't too bad, and I can usually find a spot within a 5 min walk.

NOT TO BE DRAMATIC BUT THIS CROISSANT WAS LIFE CHANGING... FINALLY CHECKED @ROSEAVEBAKERY OFF THE FOODIE TO-DO LIST, AND IT'S SAFE TO SAY I'LL BE RETURNING - phenomenal vietnamese iced coffee (only regret is that I didn't get a larger one) - chocolate matcha croissant; all for ~$13 the line was long, but the time passed quickly and their pastry display was fully stocked --- I was able to snag a seat to myself too!

A short walk away from the zoo and right in front of the metro: this Asian inspired bakery has the fluffiest doughnuts filled with perfectly sweetened cream! No pastry stood out to me yet but the quality put into each bread is definitely notable! I would definitely come again to try more things on the menu The line was super long and just continue to grow! I went on a Saturday and there was always 30+ people waiting.

Everything we tried was delicious! Rose Ave has such a light and airy vibe--both the space and the food. Every dish felt rich and flavorful without being over the top. Highlights for us were the lox focaccia (perfectly balanced and fresh) and the ube donut--a total standout. My husband couldn't stop raving about the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant too. Highly recommend coming hungry so you can try a little bit of everything--and plan to take some home for later! Bonus points for offering a discount to furloughed federal workers, which is such a thoughtful touch.

After hearing so many rave reviews about Rose Ave Bakery, my husband and I decided to check it out. We arrived a few minutes prior to opening and waited in line! We each picked two pastries and I ordered the ube latte. Everything was tasty! I especially enjoyed the ube latte and the ube kouign amann. Overall a cute, but very expensive cafe!

A short jaunt the hotel and squarely in downtown, it's an all things cobbler themed spot. Kids got Mac and cheese with meat, plus a mini cobbler, and my better half and I shared a "biscuit cobbler" - which was effectively a delicious biscuit over top a thick soup. It was solidly in the pretty good category. A little cold in the middle but it filled me up. The biscuits were excellent - like Bojangles good (Biscuit connoisseurs will feel that!). The Mac and cheese was good and the cobblers were solid. The mini cobbler was like $2 and came as part of a combo. Get that - enough to get a good taste, but not massive. The banana pudding (the bourbon walnut specifically) was the show stopper for me. I'm sure it's gonna box, but it was really good! The woman helping us was very nice and got us served and fed quickly. Not an every day spot, but an, I'm walking by and feeling like dessert at 2 pm sort of spot for sure!

When I stopped by, it was raining heavy, but the walk from the metro was totally worth it. I stepped inside, heard some great R&B jams playing, and I made my way to work that amazing smell was coming from. Along the way, I passed some cute merch -- insulated bags and more. And then there was a freezer with all of their pints, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes. I got up to where the scoops are being served, and there was a very helpful sign next to it with all of the descriptions. I appreciate it the thorough breakdown of what has allergens, what has dairy, and what is vegan. I pretty much tried everything. My favorites were the vegan ones (spiced peanut crunch, tamarind spice), the spiced date cake, saffron pistachio, mangos & cream, black forest... I could keep going. I split a generous scoop of the spiced date cake & saffron pistachio and it was divine. I could've gotten some cool toppings too, but decided not to. It was $8 as is XD. It's definitely a splurge, but a unique flavor profile like this I think it's totally worth it. The pints are $12, which also isn't bad for something this unique imo. I'll be back to get some pints. It's awesome that it's in Brooklyn too, so my sister can explore it as well.

I was so excited, in fact, that I waited in line on opening day. While the flavors were indeed exciting, I found the flavor to be muted. I was picturing intense Indian spice that hits you in the face, only to be confronted with very mild flavor. I've been a few times since opening, and I think it's fine, but it doesn't live up to expectations. I've found the soft serve to be better than the hard ice cream, but it almost has too creamy of a texture. The yogurt soft serve flavor with cardamom was the best thing I've tasted there. The ambiance is fine, there is a small patio for warm days. The last time I was there the inside smelled like sewage, eeek!

Place is cozy with some Italian decor and Italian music playing. Everything was pretty good in my opinion; can't say that I can choose which course was my favourite! We had the duck prosciutto as an appetizer, which was a special. It was delicious with the cooked duck taste, alongside the toast with very vibrant jam. My vongole pasta was good too; I do like pasta more on the firmer side, which it was. It tasted great with the calm, garlic, and olive oil - simple, yet tasty. The tiramisu itself was fine, but I believe it was enhanced even more with the sauces and cookie bit on the top; the cookie bit was too good. The presentation was beautiful - sliced and then arranged back together like the chef was Michelangelo himself. The small amount of juice around the chicken was excellent - butter and salt and rosemary and a veritable symphony of umami flavors! Divine! I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out!
