I came here to redeem a Yelp coupon for a free iced coffee with the purchase of a baked good. I got the bacon and egg croissant and a small iced coffee for around $6 with the coupon. The croissant came out quickly, but it was a little burnt on the outside and chewy on the inside. The cashier was REALLY nice, I forget her name but she had blue hair! Last time I was here, I had the coconut lemon pie and Kyoto cherry tea. The loose tea leaves are carefully placed in a tea bag and smells great. The lemon pie was great, not greasy at all. As someone else mentioned, the interior seems kind of more like a store than a cafe you would like to hang out in, which I think would be more helpful to their business. Many people have commented on the bakery. I wanted to add a note about their catering. I ordered boxed lunches for a small meeting in my office. The food was a hit (people are still talking about the sandwiches and cookies!). It was cost effective at $11 / box, including a sandwich, chips, and cookie. I added drinks for $2. Items were neatly packaged and made a good display. Delivery was on time. Catering information can be difficult to find on their website. I had to call twice before I could speak to someone who could give me information. To save you the trouble: catering options are based on the full menu at the bakery. They can turn any of the sandwiches into boxed lunches (not sure about breakfast). Ordering was done via an email to their manager, but it was then tricky to reconnect with him to a) confirm my order had been received and b) pay. It was handy to have a receipt emailed to me afterwards, but I wish he had been prepared to hand off a receipt when he dropped off the food. On the whole, Dog Tag Catering is worth the effort. I just wish it required a little less effort. read more

Yum! Nice to support a local place that gives back. We stopped in for lunch. I had the turkey, brie, and cranberry sandwich; hubby had ham and cheese on ciabatta. Sandwiches are served with chips, which were quite good. (I'm not usually much of a chip fan, but the sour cream and chive flavor was delicious.) We had lemon cooler cookies for dessert, crunchy yet soft, very nice flavor. Decor is a cute, patriotic theme (but not overly cute- it's tasteful). Simple little lunch, probably a tad more expensive than it should be, but knowing it supports veterans makes that okay. read more

I want to give them a better review but I had such a frustrating experience with their box lunch catering that I won't be finding myself going back even though I support their cause (and the pastries are delicious). I went to a show at the church next door and they had an online form for boxed lunches. I called to order (which I'm so glad I did because if I had paid online... we'll I might have lost my money!) and they had no idea what I was talking about. After getting transferred back and forth 3 times I finally spoke to someone about ordering the sandwiches and was told it was possible but that I'd have to pick them up myself. I was ready to do that... but then was informed I had to get there at 6 when the gates to the show don't open til 7 (yet they are the food partner and sell stuff there). Long story short, after over 30 minutes on the phone I hung up empty handed and ended up ordering tacos from chaia easily and without the hassle and push back I received from dog tag. read more

I think they need to add some information to their signage out front, so people know that this is food for humans. I had the turkey and avocado sandwich. The avocado spread was delicious and you could really taste the jalapeno and onion in it. This is from someone who isn't a fan of avocados. The bread was probably the best sandwich bread I have had in years. The interior was really bright, open, and comforting. Very relaxed environment. Great little gem in the city! My husband and I were on our usual Sunday morning walk with our furry baby and stumbled upon this place. We'd heard of it before so we were excited to try it. Sooooo glad we did. Not just bec we are also veterans, but the food was delicious. My husband said that was one of the best bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches he's ever had and that was definitely the BEST fruit and granola parfait I've ever had. Walking into what might have once been a warehouse that is now a converted into a café, I tried Dog Tag Bakery for the first time. The vibe inside was eerily subdued. Service was discovered via a tiny break squeezed between tall counters, blocked by tables for patrons, and at the way back. Initially, the barista seemed confused by my order of medium cortado, but prepared it anyway. While waiting, I inspected the rest of the snacks in the case, and was sticker-shocked by sandwiches that were over $10 each! (Sadly, perhaps, that is going rate in Georgetown for a sandwich these days?) When the drink was ready, it appeared a bit small to me, so I asked if this was a medium. It was only then that I learned that although it is clearly written on the menu board above the counter that cortados come in three sizes at three different prices, the reality is that they are all made in the same-sized glass. Perhaps, this was her confusion when I asked for a medium? I now shared her confusion, and I didn't know how much the drink was? As for the taste of the coffee, it was fine. Also, I later learned that café honorably assistants disabled war veterans, but this wasn't apparent to me during my visit. I thought "Dog Tag" was a clever theme related to canines. So, with unclear pricing, over-priced sandwiches, and a confusing theme, I'll try another café next time. read more
