When I arrived, I had to wait for assistance, no problem....then the problems began. The girl at the desk said....I see she is here for doggy day care....I said no....she looked again and said ah....an overnight stay...I said no...she stated, we don't have her down which my reply was I received a call from here asking to come in at 1:30 p.m.... then she said " just leave her her..at that point I stated...Why you I trust your business with my puppy if you can't get the basics right.... I continued with...the lack of your professionalism, why would anyone trust this place with their precious pet...she muttered a few words while I said...We're done her and left. There are other groomers on the area I'm quite sure that are professional...just not this place....my advice is think twice before you consider any grooming, any daycare or overnight care here... I've taken my dog here on four occasions for daycare. Although I feel like the staff is friendly and I feel like he is safe I am hesitate to bring him back for the following reasons: 1. Maybe this is normal for daycares and boarding, but he smells like dog urine when I pick him up. I feel like I need to give him a bath when I come home. 2. Stepdaughter took her beloved Great Pyrenees/Golden mix (Cooper) to this location as a first time client. First of all she was not given access to the video feed until something went wrong and she had to ask for video access. This is sketchy to say the least. Now for what went wrong. A few days into Coopers stay, my stepdaughter received a call which brought her to tears. Cooper had vomited up a whole, ankle length sock and then vomited blood. How he was able to swallow a whole sock is beyond explanation. Why there was a sock in the facility which did not belong to my stepdaughter is also a question that got no explanation nor even an apology. The staff basically denied that the sock came from their facility and never offered so much as an apology for allowing this to happen. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be any long term damage from this near tragedy. However when Cooper got home he proceeded to vomit numerous times, as if he had been given the wrong food or something. He is allergic to chicken products, which would cause vomiting if mistakenly fed to him. Of course this was also denied by the staff. Again, no apologies for anything and no offer to discount the very expensive cost of his stay. Long story short, do not, under any circumstances, take your beloved pet to Dogtopia! PLEASE READ! PHOTOS ATTACHED. Our dog was attacked this past summer at Dogtopia of Omaha-West. We were away on vacation and not notified. His infection festered for days before we were back in town and saw that he was hurt under his fur that evening. He had multiple puncture wounds and had to undergo surgery due to an abscess. Once we took him to the vet to discover the full damage, we approached the manager and saw video footage of another dog dragging him across the floor for over 10 seconds. There was a worker right there and yet still, we were not called or notified in any way. After multiple weeks, his physical health was better, but it took months for his mental health to improve. Our children, who he adored prior to the attack, were no longer people he wanted to be around. Now that it has been nearly 6 months, he is finally almost back to his normal self. I also find it interesting that I cannot leave a review on the Dogtopia.com/omaha-west site. When I called to see how we could leave a proper review, I was met with confusion and a lack of help - much like the management we experienced this past summer. While the owner of all locations reimbursed us for the vet bills and our stay, our biggest concern was that it could happen again to another family. I could go on with a laundry list of all of the mistakes made - but hopefully this is enough to dissuade you from taking your sweet pup to any of the Dogtopia Omaha locations. read more

We were excited to find a place for our golden puppy to socialize. We set her up for a few days of daycare before we planned on boarding her (while we were away) so she could get used to it. Today was day one ... and we'll never go back. When we picked her up, she REEKED of piss. Mind you, she hasn't had an accident since she was 9 weeks old, she's now five months. It was obvious that she had pissed in a crate and laid in it. I didn't think much of it because she was nervous to be there & maybe it got to her. So I called to see what their potty schedule was. To my surprise I was told they don't get let out for potty breaks. Are you shitting me? How does this make any sense? I canceled all our future appointments to include boarding. Dogtopia is quite off the beaten path in terms of location. It's in an industrial complex just west of the big Costco/Alamo/Cabela's complex in LaVista on Portal Rd. We did not have trouble finding it with google maps but were surprised it was not in more of a 'residential' area. This location does daycare and boarding. Now, I have been fortunate to tour and see many of the doggy daycare/boarding facilities in Omaha due to my activity with a dog interest group locally. I will say, that the indoor daycare free roam area is clean, not smelly, and they mop up urine and poop accidents routinely. They use a rubberized flooring like many of the facilities in Omaha do- which is supposed to be more antibacterial. Of all I have been to, Paw Spa is the only one that uses artificial turf and has a very advanced flushing system to clean it well. I think hard floors are just the easiest to clean and manage but I do like the availability of turf (that can be cleaned of course) the best. There is a camera to watch your dog play when they attend daycare. For boarding, I have never done it, but I think your dog gets a crate, which is not a very large space and different dogs (esp ones not trained with the wire crate) will likely react differently to this. The staff here is very friendly and I think that is what sets them apart from other places in town that have similar facilities. I would not hesitate to take my dog here for daycare but not sure about boarding, as my dog might not like the crate. read more

My husband and I have boarded our dog her a number of times. The staff is great and easy to communicate worries with. They also have an awesome camera system that, yes at times, can go down. But that can happen anywhere! I love just having the option to check in on my pup from time to time! If you communicate with them they will even give your pup a bath before picking them up! My dog likes to play hard so there have been times he comes home smelly, but I know he had fun! The last time we did board our dog he did come home with a version of kennel cough. He is vaccinated for it. Although it sucks that he might've caught it from here, we do understand that it works like the flu for humans! I still highly recommend this place! Our doggy day care and boarding place of choice! We used to go to somewhere else but found Dogtopia a few months ago and are loving it! The staff are always friendly and we appreciate that they are mindful of their pup to staff ratio. What we love most: - Mid-day naptime. Our pup would and has played forever if she were allowed to. Our previous day care did not have naptime and we noticed that she would usually exhaust herself and at times, get snippy towards the end of the day. The 2 hour break gives us much more peace of mind when we send her for a day knowing she won't be playing for a full 8 hours. - Constant cleaning! At our last place, we almost never saw the staff cleaning the playroom. Whenever we're tuned in to the live stream (another nice bonus), I swear someone is always mopping or wiping the kennels. We wish they'd consider opening another location further east in the city! We'd send her much more frequently if they were a little closer. read more

Really a 4+ review. We have boarded our dog at this location and have been extremely pleased on all occasions. Staff is friendly and know your pet when you walk in. Unlike normal kenneling facilities; this facility allows the dog to roam "freely" in a supervised area. Pets are separated by size. Before you are allowed to board, your pet spends some time in close supervised play to ensure the animal is truly sociable with other pets. There is also grooming services available. One of the things we like most is that there are video cameras in both pet areas so you can check on your pet anytime (except when they are kenneled for the night) via the Internet. The only reason for the 4 Stars instead of 5 is we wish that it was a little less expensive to board. read more

When looking for care for my pets I am extremely picky and have high expectations. I want to be sure that my pets have plenty of time for play, engagement with caring people as follow any medication protocol. Yes, I am THAT pet parent! While I have never been unsatisfied with the care that my pets receive I am continually disappointed with the cleanliness, vaccination protocol and general health of dogs they are allowing into their care. While my pets are current on vaccinations, annual exams and are in great health. On two occasions, each of them have had returns from Dogtopia kennel cough. Fine. I get it, hazards of boarding. However their last visit will have me looking into other boarding care. Three days after returning home, one of my pets showed signs of ringworm. After a $171 bet bill and positive test result for the contagious fungus, I am beside myself. As convenient as boarding services are, they may double the cost of your best original stay with an follow up vet bill. read more

Here was my first experience... Not happy at all... I called and asked what it would be to have my dog groomed. The girl I spoke with said that she would shampoo, condition, brush, blow dry my dog, and clean her ears for $25. The nail trim was $10 and the teeth brush was $5. My total was $47 and change. My dog came out wet, and not brushed. That was the whole point of us taking her there, so that she would be dry and brushed.. very disappointed & wouldn't recommend for grooming.. The next encounter I had was.... After I got a hold of the owner they offered us a completely free package to fix the mistake we had.. very happy with how they took care of this. Definitely excited to take our fur baby back & let them take care of her So today I called to see if I can get her in, it's last minute so I wasn't expecting to.. and I talked to Nick.. and he says "ya... uhhhhh were busy... idk we can get her in..." doesn't give me a schedule, a timeframe, he doesn't say yeah we have an appointment... I got nothing.. so I ask if I can do it sometime this week? His reply was "I'm sure we could, how about you just drop her off for the day for day care that way she can get in play time and then we can give her a bath before she leaves?" Wait wait wait.... what happened to just being able to schedule her for a bath??? I can't do that now??? So I asked if I can make an appointment to just get her a bath..? He says "just drop by anytime this week and we can get her in.. okay??" So so confused I said "ummmm... okay? So no appointment" and "maybe you should try calling tomorrow, we're busy today"... So now after the first mess up, they offer me a free one, then I can't even use it??? I'm really disappointed in this company. First, I have to say that my dog was fed, safe, and cared for while staying at Dogtopia for a week, but there are definitely a few reasons we won't be returning. #1: My dog is not kenneled at home & sometimes when kenneled will chew things in there with her. I asked them to please remove her bed if she showed signs of chewing, but when I returned to pick her up after a 7-day stay, I looked in her suite to find that her bed had been chewed up and was still in there after 7 days.... #2: About 2 days after coming home, she came down with kennel cough!!!!!!! Warning! Do NOT use this place. I went to a meet a greet and my dog had such a traumatic incident there, two days later, he still won't eat. Dogs were humping other dogs! One started to get on my dog and I went loco! The two girls tried to separate my dog and bring him to me and they lost total control. The one girl put a rope around my dog's neck and started pulling on him. Dogs were jumping the fence, and they were not able to get just my dog out. 5 dogs came with him in a mass mess. This was a horrific site! They were finally able to get my dog to me, with my help of getting other dogs away. OMG! It was horrible. I called the manager to discuss the incident and was told "humping is normal behavior when the dogs get excited". I lit her up. I told her I have a service dog and this was NOT good. She told me they usually recommend NOT bringing in service dogs because the play there is a little rough! What?!!!! This all happened in a 5 minute site visit. I had set this all up through email, and when I got there, a note stuck to the door "this kennel has kennel cough". Nothing mentioned in any email or phone conversation. mid you love your dog, stay clear of this place. Only 1 person watching 20 big dogs, and she was washing down the portable kennels and not watching the dogs. No toys allowed I was told, and there wasn't any water for them. The people here are wonderful! Really great customer service! Being able to check in on the dogs via the pet cam is awesome! The staff are wonderful with the dogs and they really do take the time to interact with the dogs, playing with them and loving on them. The play areas are keep clean and the dogs are well supervised. I never have to worry when my dogs are there. They do extra little things for them too like pictures on holidays . Nice little gestures. They really do care about the dogs! read more

Extremely disappointed in this company. Today was the second time (out of 3 visits) that I drove more than 20 minutes to show up for the grooming appointment I scheduled over a month ago in Papillion only to be told that the groomer didn't come in to work today. It is very rude and a complete disregard for customer's time and resources when this happens. I could have planned other things today and also wasted another 45 minutes of drive time and gas to find out staff couldn't make a simple phone call and be courteous. I asked the staff member why they don't have some system in place to avoid this and his response was that it is just he and another guy with 50 dogs today. This is not my problem. Hire more staff or figure it out. Horrible lack of communication and they act like it is no big deal and just reschedule. Ridiculous. I can see this happening one time. I know things come up. My pup and I love dogtopia! We go to the location on portal road (Papillion). We have been to a different doggie day care that was no where near comparison. Every person I've talked to there are very genuine and compassionate. You can tell that their staff really love what they are doing and love all kinds of dogs. I have an extremely hyper male lab and they never make me feel like he's a pain or unwelcome (even though I know he can be a handful). I can check on the webcam online to see what he's doing at any point in the day and I have peace of mind that he's always well taken care of. Also, a couple of their monthly packages include free bathing and nail trimming! **Edit/Update** The Papillion location is by far the better one. The people who work there are friendly, mature adults. There are always a lot more dogs there at this location and they let them outside throughout the day. They learned who my dog was very quickly, so pick ups and drop offs are a breeze. At the other location there are mainly teenagers working there who don't always have the best customer service. Don't get me wrong, they are great. But I prefer to take my dog to the Papillion location because it is such a smoother interaction each time and they appear to work with the dogs a lot better. I also don't think the dogs ever get let out side at the other Omaha location. Every time I pick up my dog from that one, he either pees before we can even make it out the door or as soon as we step foot out. I think he holds his pee all day long or just starts to pee inside, which I'm sure gives him anxiety as he knows he's not supposed to. Then eventually he has started this strange habit of peeing Inside my home when he feels like it. I think this may be because he gets used to going there and he just pees all over inside there, so he starts to do it at home. Can't be sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the reason. This is my backup kennel. Mainly because of the price and the distance away from my house. The staff are friendly and when I've watched the camera the dogs seem to be having fun. They're able to house more dogs because the boarding dogs each get their own crate instead of a kennel like at other places. I have not gone here since they changed owners, just because I haven't had a need for them. So I can't speak about them. But they seemed nice in their emails announcing the change. They occasionally hold special events and my dog has gone to one of them. Last winter they scheduled indoor play days for I think $5 you could bring your dog in to play with others for a couple hours since it's just too cold to go to the dog park. We couldn't go because I ended up having to travel for work, but I hope they continue things like that. read more

I know from very personal experience that Dogtopia is the best place to take your dog in Omaha. (I used to work there) They let your dog be a dog. The staff is well-trained in dog behavior and truly love your dog. The dogs are in large play areas all day with a rest in the middle. The staff is with the dogs 100% of the time when the dogs aren't in nap time. Your dog will always be supervised unlike some other place who say they supervise your dogs at all times, Dogtopia staff take this very seriously. Do not go to a dog daycare where someone is not in with the dogs at all times. It's a disaster waiting to happen. At Dogtopia they evaluate your dog before you are allowed to come to make sure your dog socialized well with other dogs and people, just so the environment is safe for other dogs and the staff. Great place for dog daycare and boarding! We have been taking our two dogs here for 5+ years and all of the staff always greet them by name. They even recognize me when I come to pick them up! I want to give recognition to Alicia there who is incredible! She is always so friendly, knows my dogs's personalities to a T and always gives me a funny recap of the day. (Jack and Harley love you!) If you're looking for a safe, reliable and fun place to take your dogs just for the day or for a few nights this is the best place. They also do a great job grooming our guys. I also love the seasonal activities they plan for the dogs and the adorable pictures they send me home with. I can't say enough good things, keep it up Dogtopia! read more
