I took my 5 months old miniature Shih Tzu last week for meet and greet and was informed it did go well. I took him this morning and I enrolled him into their wellness plan. Later that afternoon I saw a much larger white dog humping him while trainer was nearby, and she absolutely did not do anything.. I called right away and told them to get the dog off of my dog. Unfortunately, I was at the doctor office and I couldn't go pick him up right away. An hour later I watched from the web camera, and I saw same dog is pushing my dog in the corner and humping him and three other dogs are watching and the trainer is there and doing absolutely nothing. Immediately I went and pulled my dog out of the place and when I complained, they said that's how they play.... "WHEN A DOG IS SHY, THATS HOW THEY BOOST HIS CONFIDENCE!!" Also, they charged me that same morning $90 which is supposed to be for full month, three times a week, and they did not refund me. Please be careful with your dog specially small breed. Friendly staff and my pup loves it! Dogs aren't perfect but they do a good job watching them, engaging them and letting them play. Don't believe these negative reviews. We have had a wellness plan for over a year and I watch the cameras constantly. I have never once seen a dog in any danger from another dog, just pups having a blast all day! read more

The fact that this establishment is rated so low, and has multiple poor reviews, is baffling to me. This could not be further than my experience at Dogtopia of Katy. I don't have enough good things to say about this place and the employees there. Not to discount others' experience, but I'd like to offer my own experience and a different perspective. The website is very thorough in explaining and laying out what to expect. I feel they have been true to their word on everything advertised on their website. All the wonderful things they say they offer and provide, I feel has been my exact experience since touring and bringing my dog for a meet and greet. I'm so grateful to have found a business that takes such great care of my dog and provides socialization, fitness, obedience, and enrichment opportunities that she wouldn't have otherwise. I'm a first time dog owner that was very nervous and weary of trusting someone else with my beloved pet, to be honest. So I had a lot of questions and wanted to tour the facility ahead of time. Summer could not have been more thorough and kind during the tour and answered all of my questions. The meet and greet went well- they called me at lunch to assure me she was doing well. When I picked her up, they had a high quality picture of her from her first day, a brochure full of helpful information, and a "report card" giving me feedback about her first day there. I was impressed to say the least! Not only is it a great value, but a great opportunity for you to see if it is going to be a good fit for you and your dog. I enrolled her in a wellness plan pretty much immediately. No issues with billing. Once I got access to the webcam, which I can only watch when I have pockets of free time during the workday, it was very evident how much the employees care about the animals. They are very attentive. My German Shepherd plays in the "Gym Beach" room which allows her to play with other dogs her size and who have similar play styles. I feel the employees are experts at observing animal behavior and know when they are just playing or a situation is escalating that they need to break up. Anytime they notice a potential issue, they address it immediately (even if they are on the other side of the room or multitasking!). My dog spends the majority of the time in open play, running around. When she is crated, it is for good reason. I'm glad that they correct her when appropriate to help me reinforce the boundaries I try to implement at home. I feel it's always for her well being, or the well being of others, and I trust their judgement. My dog is also a tripod, and I by no means expect special treatment or accommodations, but I was so relieved that all of the activities they offer are very inclusive and that she can participate just like everyone else. She waits by the door eagerly every morning she knows it's a "Dogtopia day", and I look forward to days she has daycare too! I feel such peace knowing she's being so well looked after and she is having such a blast in the process! She has made so many friends and could not be happier. I absolutely do not recommend this place. This review covers two separate visit sessions. 1st one was 3 days of Doggy Day Care, 2nd one was 2-1/2 days of Day Care plus an overnight, so ultimately a full day, plus a sleepover. I dropped her off at around 1-ish, went out of town, and picked her up at 3:30 the next day. I had to travel a few weeks ago and we didn't want to leave the dog alone in the house for many hours. She's still pretty young, 9 or 10 months. She has been very easy to train, we socialize her with many other dogs, people, she's great. The first day of the visit she was picked up and my wife said she was completely wiped out. But the next two days she was not. She was in a tiny pen on the side that they call the "Wee Pen". My wife was not happy. Additionally, there was a billing Snafu. I had paid for the entire 3 days up front, plus I made a donation to a fund they have to purchase (and train?) dogs for veterans with PTSD. I later noticed that they had charged me anyway. When I called, the manager or owner (not sure) refunded me the over-charge, plus offered me 2 days free. I said ok. I'll try them again. She's trying to make up for the issues. The next trip was from 6/7/2022 to 6/8/2022. This time I decided to check in with their webcam. What I saw didn't make me happy. She was in the "Wee Pen" again with 5 other dogs or so. The area is TINY for that many dogs. Especially compared to the remainder of the space, easily 10 times the size or more. I immediately called and asked when they would be allowed out. I was told that they are in the Wee Pen so as to not get trampled by a couple of the other dogs; however, they would get their time to play. I had meetings for the next several hours; however, I was able to check the webcam fairly frequently. At the end of my last meeting, around 11:30, I called again as they had still not been allowed out of the Wee Pen. You can see in the picture with the time stamp of 11:52 just how much exercise she's getting. I called again and expressed my unhappiness that my dog had now been in that little pen for over 3 hours and wasn't getting the opportunity to run and play that the other dogs were getting. I was told she's with her "BFF" from her last visit.. As you can see in the picture of her in my yard and full-tilt run, she loves to run. I told them I was unhappy with this and they need to give the smaller dogs a chance to play. Shortly after I hung up the "operations manager" called me and tried to talk me off the ledge I guess. But it was the same story about bigger dogs being extra bouncy, didn't want her to get trampled, etc. I told her that if I wanted my dog to spend the entire day in a space that small, I could put her in a playpen in my house and have the neighbors check on her. I also told her that they need to provide more space for the little dogs. The big dogs could share... OR, break up the play time in the big area and put the bigger dogs away for a while. In fact, according to the website, they are supposed to have a special area just for the little dogs called the Toy Area. At 12pm, the camera is shut off and the dogs are crated so they can "rest" from all the play. Why does my dog need to rest, in the second picture she's clearly not doing anything and hasn't for several hours. 2:14pm, I come back to the camera and see my dog back in the Wee pen. A person goes over and lets them all out!!! YAY!!! They ran all over the place. My dog and another were running and running and chasing and having a great time. 2:21 pm. They are herded back into the Wee Pen, the big dogs are let back in, and then the little dogs are let out to do their business, which is a little fenced in, concrete, side yard. Little. 10 x 5 maybe. The little dogs are then let back in.... to the Wee pen. And there they stayed until I picked her up at 3:30pm (last picture). I kept checking the video on my drive home. 3 hours of driving. The entire time the little dogs: Did not play. Did not have ANY interaction with the staff. Did not get any exercise. This is NOT what they are advertising. Quoting the first page on the website: They are supposed to be getting "the most exciting day ever in our modern, open-play dog center. " --The pictures clearly show my dog did not. "your pup will thrive in our off-leash, open-play environment with other dogs who have also been vetted by our Dogtopia experts." My dog got a closet of floor space. Off-leash, sure. Open.... nope. Fenced in while other dogs played. "Your pup will develop a strong bond with our coaches and the other dogs in our care," Not one single time that I was watching the coaches go over and socialize with the smaller dogs in the Wee Pen. I would SERIOUSLY reconsider. Especially if your dog is smaller, like my 8lbs mini schnauzer read more

They're amazing!!! My dog is very shy but the more i bring her the most she has gotten out of her shell!!

I visited them this morning for my meet and greet appointment at 10am. I completed all the info online about my 5lb 16 week old mini dachshund 'Biscuit' and we were excited for him to socialise with other puppies his size. When I got there I was told I had to wait in the waiting room - while they took him for his 45 minute evaluation (to see if he would be suitable to attend their facility) I was not aware of this protocol - I imagined I would go in with him, help him to feel comfortable and be able to tour their facility and decide for myself whether it would be a good fit for us. The lady told me he would be taken to the room adjacent- and I could see through the glass 5/6 dogs - all much larger than Biscuit. This made me feel very uncomfortable. The lady said they were all puppies (despite their varying sizes - the larger ones being 'gentle giants'). I can not believe they keep 'puppies' together in the same room based solely on them being under a year and do not consider their size. How could they guarantee my puppy's safely when they are willing to have him be in the same space as a German shepherd four times his size! She could not understand my concern. We promptly left. My little Lola LOVES, LOVES, LOVES going to "camp" everyday at Dogtopia! I know she loves it there and the staff take great care while she is there because the minute we walk through the door she runs up to them with tail and butt wagging and giving them kisses. She goes to daycare M-F and typically boards 2-3 nights a few times a month. I have absolutely no worries about her while I'm working.
