Wow. This place was really special. Small places, big flavor!! Prices were on the high end -- this is a special occasion place for my budget! But one I will definitely come back to again and again. Brand new "gem" of a restaurant in the Germantown section of Philly! It's been open roughly 2 months now and gives upscale downtown fine dining vibes! A huge plus is you don't have to pay for parking. They have a parking lot but if it's packed you can find a spot on the street to park. Not ideal for large parties, I'd suggest no more than six (6) guests and book your reservation well in advance. It's a small quaint place and the food is very good. It's tapas style. Small plates meant to be shared. This way you can to try a variety of food when each person orders maybe 2 plates or more depending on your appetite. Don't go too wild with ordering too much though as some might find their food palette overwhelmed by the varieties and textures. Self-awareness is key! They have a nice selection of dinner entrees, well seasoned and vegan/vegetarian options. The menu changes every few weeks. My favorite were the lamb ribs! Better get them while they last since the menu changes. If you like spicy (hot) noodles the Rad Noodles might be your jam (shrimp, coconut red curry, thai basil). It was too spicy for me but i'm a baby when it comes to spice. I also thought the noodles were too cumbersome...They were cool looking just a little weird on trying to figure out logistics of getting them in your mouth. Slurp them? Cut them? Twirl? Our service was superb! Our waiter Doug was knowledgeable and he was hospitable in offering the best possible dining experience. In between meals he offered us Oshibori which are Japanese warm towelettes used to clean or refresh your hands. This really enhanced my experience and added to the warm welcome setting. Desserts are delicious but depending on what you get you might find it small and not worth the money. I think this will vary depending on what you get or just you as a person. I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie baked in a clay dish and served with a dollop of ice cream. It was reminiscent of a brownie almost and was cooked with brown sugar butter crumbs..it was really an elevated way of presenting and indulging in a common fan favorite. Drinks are good quality and reasonably priced. Drinks can be strong but you get what you pay for! Nice selection of beers. If there's a wine you'd like to try before purchasing they allow you to sample. read more

This charming, cozy restaurant offers delightful small-plate options, and my husband and I truly enjoyed our experience. We had a lovely date night here and will be back. The menu is adventurous and captivating but it is hard to stay on theme. My stomach was very confused on what just happened to it by the time we finished our courses. I so badly wanted this to be good. It just wasn't. We were greeted wonderfully at the door. I would go as far as to call the host a Maitre d' they were an excellent first encounter for the establishment. Service was fine. The staff are pros and they are my comrades. Decor and ambience was decent. But the food. Not fine. Why? WHY? Why won't something actually decent open up in this neighborhood??? It is one of the most mediocre food pockets in Philly. There isn't anything in Mount Airy that is actually good. Please prove me wrong I'm desperate for a great meal. (15 year NYC hotel concierge my job was basically to eat fancy dinners) We went for a birthday do over for my gf since our dog had surgery last month for her actual birthday -- we were really excited. Then really disappointed. We ordered two cocktails. One seemed to be left over from Christmas with those spices, like a hot toddy but with tequila. Weird for May/spring. The other cocktail was decent. We ordered a bottle of wine. The wine would end up being the best flavor and value of the night. We heard so much about these ribs. They're just ok. Mostly fat tbh. My gf enjoyed it but I make better lamb than this. Sweet potato tostones. Ok. The dip that came with it was the best thing we ate all night. The fucking dip. Fluke crudo. Fishy. Barely just ok. Duck. The duck was perfectly cooked, no problem there. But the flavors on the dish were bizarre. Like they just poured orange juice over it. Clams with bucatini. One of the most bizarre executions of a classic dish. None of the flavors made any sense together. I could not finish it. Our server was apologetic and offered to bring something else but by that point we're just ready to go somewhere else. Did not even take it to go. Still got charged for it. Nice! $250 to leave hungry and disappointed. We went to Bar Lizette down the street which might be the only slightly above mediocre food around here. How are you going to put a plate down that gets two bites and still charge a poor bastard for it? LOL. Swing and a miss here. If anyone in this area can sincerely recommend a great restaurant around here, PLEASE let me know. If you open a great restaurant near here all my money can be your money. read more

I stumbled on to this small, special little restaurant by accident... And have been there 3 times so far with friends, and often I go with friends visiting from out of town. Since it's small they can only accommodate up to 6 people MAXIMUM eating together. They open at 5PM. You must get reservations! The space is small so "drop in's" may not get seating. As others have commented, it is an upscale restaurant, that feels like a center city restaurant experience. The food is an exotic fusion of Asian and Latin - highly creative dishes. EVERYTHING we've eaten there is exotically delicious. I don't eat meat and the first 2 times my dining companions didn't either... but the 3rd time I was the only one of 5 of us that didn't eat meat. I was able to select the items I've come to enjoy and they tried and enjoyed SEVERAL of the meat dishes also. All of my friends who have been also love it! I will certainly go back again - and it is a place that is great for either a date night or with a small group of friends. read more

My wife and I ate at this new intimate little restaurant right off Germantown Ave in Mt Airy. They feature a seasonal menu that offers a limited number of really well crafted dishes. We got two starter plates, a pasta dish, and a main dish. The menu is meant to be shared and we found the portion to be just right. More importantly though were the flavors - we got the badger flame beets, scallop crudo, tagliatelle, and skate al pastor. Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert, but the beer list was wonderful featuring a number of options from Tired Hands. I should also mention our server was very attentive and knew the menu well. The place is small so I can imagine reservations could be a little tricky in the future. I found the food and service at doho both excellent. The various ingredients combined in unusual dishes complimented one another while being individually distinguishable, unlike some pretentious restaurants that combine too many tastes into a mush. So many gluten free and vegan options, all labeled clearly. Service was welcoming, attentive, and accommodating. Ambiance was sophisticated yet approachable. I really wanted to like Doho since it's in our neighborhood but did not find any of the dishes to be any more than "good" and the prices were quite expensive for mediocre food. We ordered the sweet potato tostones which came with a dipping sauce. They were ok but one of the seasonings left a sour aftertaste that overwhelmed the flavor of the tostone. The tempura chicken bun was also ok but again, not great. The rad noodles were underwhelming with only noodles and shrimp and a sauce so spicy I couldn't taste anything else. My companion enjoyed the short rib but not the pickled vegetables which were way too sour. The brussels sprouts were also just ok due to the strange flavor combination. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive but made a little "ageist" joke when she found out it was my birthday "how old? 35?" wink wink. Not cute, a simple happy birthday would have been sufficient, my dear. I hope Doho figures out what it wants to be as Mt. Airy is severely lacking for decent restaurants, but we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

What a wonderful find!! Living in Chestnut Hill, where I feel there is a lack of fine, fun, classy restaurants, we were happy to see Doho featured on 6abc. The restaurant has a cool vibe (think an LA type restaurant) and the decor is warm and inviting. The food is spectacular. Our table ordered the strip steak (just recently put on the menu), the bass, and the confit duck leg. The sauces and the vegetables accompanying each were perfectly matched. Our server Ridgely (friendly, knowledgeable about the food and outstanding) suggested the sourdough steam buns to dip in the sauces and she was right as it brought out a whole new flavor to the sauce. The fried rice and the brussel sprouts added a nice complement to all the dishes. Our starters were the mushrooms (superb with the dipping sauce) and the squid ink spaghetti (the flavor of the calimari and the spaghetti were beautifully balanced with the bacon and miso broth). We didn't try the desserts so cannot comment on those. The food was beautifully presented and we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal. We are glad this restaurant has come to our area and plan to return. We hear that the menu will change based on locally sourced products so we are anticipating great things from Doho! read more
