I reserved the Doheny Room/ Andy's Bar for a milestone birthday celebration and was deeply disappointed with how my event was handled. Just hours before the party, I was informed that my reserved space was no longer available due to overbooking. Management communicated that another event had taken priority due to a higher payment, which left me scrambling at the last minute, we still tried to make it work because I had 200 guests and was unable to make other plans but it was awful, some of my guests were unable to enter the venue, causing significant inconvenience and financial loss. When booking, I had concerns because I'd seen this happen to another event at the Doheny Room recently, but the manager assured me it was a one-time issue. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I hope future guests have a better experience, but I would suggest verifying all details thoroughly with a signed contract in advance if you're considering this venue for an important event. Sometimes it can get crowded and annoying and difficult to go into for starters and the bouncers can be tough and difficult. I'm guessing it's probably because they deal with a lot of difficulties. Not particularly somewhere I would frequent just because this is not really my style. But when you do get it, i like their music, drinks and food. read more

I honestly don't know why they let us in other than the fact we are gorgeous. For such a horrifically racist place the staff was surprisingly nice. When we sat down, I told my partner that the wall art seemed super racist and LOW AND BEHOLD we weren't allowed upstairs like all the white folk when it came time. When we pointed it out we were initially gaslight about it till we pressed them. There were 4 of us Black folk and one white gal and they literally admitted to being racist when we kept asking questions. Also, the people being let in and let upstairs were under age. Went to this place on Saturday and had a blast. The vibe was fancy party vibes with loud music which was great for us! We ordered a bunch items off different parts of the menu. Hamachi Tacos, Chicken Wonton Soup, spicy Gyoza. They were all really tasty. Only real knock on the food was the portion size. The tacos were very tiny and they only gave us 2 per order. The service was excellent the food was taking a long time but our waitress was very accommodating and brought us drinks for our patience. I have had the Doheny Room bookmarked for quite some time, so I'm glad I was finally able to check it out. My friend and I made a dinner reservation for 7pm on a Saturday night, right when the restaurant/lounge opened. We were some of the 1st patrons to arrive, so I was able to really see the space. Doheny Room has a tropical theme and lots of pink/magenta/purple lighting. The music had a nice range from classic oldies to electronic. Dinner seating is spacious around the perimeter of the main dining room downstairs with a bar in the middle. Upstairs is more lounge seating and another bar. The staff were all young and friendly - they definitely seemed relatable and truly happy to be there and connect with us! My friend and I started off with some cocktails, and I recommend the Plunkett signature vodka-based cocktail. It kind of tasted like pink lemonade! The dishes at Doheny Room are meant to be shared, so my friend and I shared a few of their popular dishes including the crispy Brussels sprouts, Greek chicken meatballs, and the vegan mango and kale sushi. We finished our meal with the baked-to-order apple tart, which is warm, flaky, and so yummy, especially with the vanilla gelato on top. Overall, we had a wonderful evening at Doheny Room! I was skeptical because of the previous reviews, but to my surprise, it was wonderful!!! They recently changed the chef and menu and everything was delicious!! Our favorite was the toro tartare!! The service was more than 5 stars!! They were quick with our drinks and food and always refilling our waters and drinks without us asking. I got food poisoning here on July 6th. I was in the hospital the next day. I'm 100% sure it was from what I ate there. Also in the upstairs restrooms there was no toilet paper, no soap and no paper towels. This is probably why there's a problem. I messaged their Instagram account because no one answers the phone. The person that runs a social media account refused to pass on the message to the management. Its ruined my life since I still throw up constantly. I left messages no one calls me back. Before we could finish our first drink (which were expensive af btw), we saw at least 8 different groups of WHITE people get let upstairs. A lot of them were either groups of girls only or snobbish looking couples. I highly doubt they ALL got tables. Save your time and money and avoid this absolute POS. My friends and I had THE WORST NIGHT EVER because of this god forsaken place. It looks nice and fancy outside but in reality they are racist, sexist, have a terrible service, and an appalling attitude from the staff. Me and my friends (all 21+ FYI) had a hard time getting in because we were mostly people of color. My two Latino friends had the hardest time. The bouncer kept claiming my female friend's ID was fake just because she was Puerto Rican and her ID was from PR. When we eventually all got inside, we bought drinks (my G+T was warm) and hung around talking. The downstairs place is a bar area and we thought it was pretty empty and was confused. It turns out everyone was upstairs in the "club area". We tried to go up...but there was a second group of bouncers blocking us, saying we needed to buy a table for $500 to access. So we just stayed at the bar. Finally, one bouncer came up to the only white person in my group and said his "dancing got him access to the club area". All of us followed our friend, but when it came time for my two Latino friends to enter, the bouncers stopped them. When I came back down 5 minutes later to try to get them in, as I realized they were not with the group, the manager claimed they were too drunk to be let in despite them being quite sober. This place was fun. The music was super eclectic which I loved. From 90's hits all the way to the Beatles. The DJ was all over the place but it made it fun and different than most clubs. Getting a table is a good idea because this place is super packed and it's nice not to be in the middle of everyone pushing and shoving to get through. The drinks were pricy at $17 for a whiskey sour. It was nice and strong but I'd probably have drinks before getting there next time. Where do I start... So I have been coming to the Doheny room for about 3 years now. At first,​ I loved it; the ​good vibe, fun people and the drinks were not outrageously overpriced. I had the same experience pretty much each of the times that I had come until a week ago, which is the first time I've been treated this way at any establishment in my life (maybe I've just been lucky). So rewind to Thursday 10/25, I was staying in Beverly Hills on a mini-honeymoon staycation​ with my wife and we met up with a group of my family to go out for the evening that had been visiting from the east coast. After dinner, we went out in WeHo and a few were tired, including my wife so they all went back to the hotel. That left 6 of us remaining. Two of my cousins and I left WeHo and arrived at Doheny around 12 am​, We went to the bouncer out front, walked to the back (the downstairs was closed) and some guy who I assumed worked there full time asked for our IDs and let us up. I said, thanks and that I had a couple others coming and asked if I needed to come down and get them to which he replied no. We get a drink, hang out waiting for the other 3 of my cousins and I see a text message that says "this guy is being an a**hole and won't let us up". I go downstairs, with my drink in hand, and I let the guy know that I just told him I had 3 others coming and that it wouldn't be an issue. So I asked what the problem was and he turns to me and says: "they didn't make the cut". I asked him what that means and he said:​ "look at them, they don't belong". Meanwhile,​ there are​ groups of questionably legal people dressed in sweats, oversized tees, ​and winter beanies just walking on through giving this guy high fives. By this time it was,​ 1 ​am and we couldn't go anywhere else so I made one final approach to the guy and asked him what it would take to get us back up there and he said: "Ummm​, you can go back up, but if you want everyone to go up you will buy a table for $500". Needless to say, I passed on some choice words as I wasn't going to spend $500 for a table to get kicked out for closing time in 45min, so we called it a night. Moral of the story, once a Doheny Room fan, now you'll never see me in there again. This wasn't a dress code, over-serving or capacity issue...this was blatant​ discrimination, not by gender, sex or race...but by who this guy thought was worthy to enter the bar for that night. Hey,​ when in LA, gotta take any ounce of power you have and run with it right? Wrong answer. The sad part is, it's probably an outside promoter rather than a Doheny Room employee, nonetheless, it's your responsibility and they represent your brand. Don't worry Doheny Room, I've spread this little story around to every single person I know in LA. And sure you may not feel the effects of it, but at least people know what kind of mentality gets promoted behind the scenes. read more

Here's a quick recap: Rude Staff: Almost everybody I encountered was extremely rude towards me and my guests, from the bouncers to the people who worked for the club. Came here for drinks after dinner a few saturdays ago. I've had it bookmarked and finally got to try it. A friend and I arrived close to 10pm before there was a line. The decor is adorable! Loved the interior and enjoyed good music as well. I ordered a lightly sweetened mojito. It was tasty! The cushions were not that comfortable though and I found out why- when this place turns into a night club and people get a table for bottle service they stand on the seat cushions and jump up and down. I was surprised no one said anything to them. Back to the food - Everything we had was excellent. The staff was very attentive although we never knew who our waiter was since we probably had 4 people help us out throughout the night. If you only wanted drinks, you were to stay at the bar, even though there were still ample empty tables. Nevertheless, we ordered drinks and appys. The place is pricey for small portions, what the elixir and appys we ordered were of great taste and quality. The crispy brussel sprouts with balsamic reduction and chopped salad with yogurt, nigella seeds, sprouts, and spiced cracker were two to write home about. For drink, I enjoyed The Plunkett -- Mango Belvedere with passion fruit. It was sweet but tasted wonderful. I heard the Wayans bro's come here sometimes. This place is a 2 story building with a bar, night life and restaurant. Love it here, it's all ages and great place to go on a date, with girlfriends or on your own for a little drink or two. It does get busy after around 9:30pm so a reservation is a good idea.
