I stopped in for a quick drink while my son and wife finished their meals. As a married man, bar visits are rare. I got permission for one drink and a quick return. I chatted with the bartender and a friendly patron. I ordered a Pickle Back, made with Jameson Whiskey and pickle juice from Canter's. It was delicious - I haven't had one in ages! I'd love to come back when they have live music, but I'm not sure I'll get the Wife's permission. ;)

Great atmo, decent beer prices for LA. I'd come back here next time I visit the town.

So it's a dark and deep drinking spot with just a little bit of everything, but not too much. Some vintage Godzilla was playing this night. Dive bar but more for smarter folk, per Mr. bland!

It's attached to Canters Deli, so food is outstanding! Service adequate; ambiance is dive bar chic!

If anything, it felt more like a party-hearty hangout for frat bros with no manners. However, the bartender was quite tolerant and civilized as we ordered a couple of $9.75 Tequila Sunrises (Photo 8). There's a small terrace in the back where we managed to secure a sliver of space at the end of a bench. I'd characterize the crowd as self-involved with attempts at social interaction met with varying degrees of indifference. Yet it felt like a safe space with all the rainbow paraphernalia strewn about, and we'd still come back if we could mingle in a cozier, lower-key space. This is a dive bar with a solid drinks selection. My wife ordered a Coke since she wasn't in the mood for anything alcoholic. There were some interesting characters day drinking, and it was great people-watching with lots of regulars. The interactions were priceless. The bartender asked a regular if he'd left his helmet, and when he showed it to him, the regular quipped, "My head is bigger." The helmet looked like a kid's size, and the guy did have a small head. It was a funny interaction in a room full of characters, like something out of "A Confederacy of Dunces." The bouncer checking IDs outside, sporting a Santa hat, noticed my wife's upcoming birthday and wished her a happy birthday. It was a really nice touch! We will definitely be back for drinks and to people-watch the interesting characters!

Given it's Hollywood, I was expecting things to be pricy but we were amazed that cocktails (albeit well cocktails) were only $9 with some more complex drinks a bit higher - my friend said 8 drinks plus tax came out to be $92 which is not bad at all compared to many cocktail spots, though prices match the quality as you're not here for craft cocktails, but rather decent drinks to get you buzzed for the night. There's no menu. I settled with a dirty Shirley temple and my friend got me a Cinnamon Toast Crunch shot. I also tried the green apple martini too. Drinks were good but not excellent, but I can't complain about it much given the price!

We stopped by on a Monday around 8pm and it was surprisingly quiet at first, but before long people started walking in for Trivia Night and the atmosphere became much livelier. OR Bar has a really stylish, welcoming vibe. The black and gold decor, artwork, and chandeliers give it an upscale feel. I also like that it's more than just a nighttime spot. During the day, people come in to work, enjoy coffee, and just hang out, which gives it a nice neighborhood vibe. I ordered an Angry Orchard Cider and my friend ordered one of their Espress-OR Martinis. It looked great but it was strong! If you are an espresso martini fan who likes this style of drink, you will probably enjoy it. There are metered spaces behind the bar and there is also residential street parking nearby if you pay attention to the posted signs. Overall, this was a fun find and I can definitely see why it has become a neighborhood favorite. I would come back to try more of the cocktails and experience another Trivia Night.

The secret entrance is a ton of fun and the ambience is dark and mysterious and transports you to a land far away, all while not leaving LA. The drinks are spectacularly delicious and innovative. There is a theme (and entire experience) to each drink. The food is likewise excellent. The hot dogs from Tail o'the Pup are some of the best in the city and you can order directly from the downstairs hot spot, or order from the tailored menu to fit the tiki theme. The wait staff was super attentive. This is a great date spot or somewhere to come with friends. Just remember to book your reservations on Resy and then check the website for knowledge on how to get into the secret entrance. This is a top experience in LA!

Reservations are a must. Who doesn't love a Speakeasy and the Pickle Barrel entrance at the Tail 'o the Pup with the buzzer in the barrel was a cute touch. Once you're allowed entry, you are immediately transported to another world via beautifully decorated stairs to the check-in desk. The decor has got to be one of the best looking tiki bars out there. Wow, they hit this out of the park. The drink and food menu is fantastic in a wood covered binder. Naturally, we ordered the standard Mai Tai to start. The Lucky Tiki's take on the traditional 1944 Trader Vic Mai Tai is fantastic. Each Mai Tai comes with the Lucky Tiki swizzle stick and I happily kept the 3 we ordered to display in our home Tiki Bar. The wife ordered a second one while I took the waitress' recommendation and ordered The Maverick ("A Renegade of Rums, Cinnamon Syrup, White Grapefruit & Lime Juice, A Bold, Fiery, and Unapologetically Wild Ride, This Cocktail is for Those Who Live By Their Own Rules")...and coincidentally, this applies to me perfectly. The Maverick was awesome and came complete with a show of fire. We also ordered the Potstickers which were fantastic, especially dipped in their garlic teriyaki sauce. Wow! I wished we lived closer because I would hit this place A LOT. TIKI DAVE highly highly highly recommends THE LUCKY TIKI! I will be uploading video to my YouTube channel soon!
