First time here was back in 2018 for my cousin's birthday. We sat outside with a big group, so I never actually saw the inside. I ordered a pizza that night and I do recall, it was too salty. Went back a few weeks ago with the same cousin. We got there at opening time so we had the place to ourselves for a while. We both got Vinny's cheesesteak sandwich, which honestly wasn't anything special. The flavor just wasn't there for me. I was over it after a few bites and kind of forced myself to finish half. The fries, though, were pretty good (I shared them with her since she got a salad instead of fries). What happened to my beloved Rainbow? My favorite place in LA that I've been coming to for 20 years? Arguably the most iconic bar in the country? Apparently, sounds like new ownership. Had been a minute since I'd last been, but came last night w/ a group. Pizza took an hour to make it to the table even though the dining room was half empty. And it was not the same pizza I remember, crust was a kind of hard and burnt. It was fine, but not the amazing Rainbow pizza of the past. Have been back here a handful of times since Covid, but the upstairs, the reason we came, was closed yet again for a private event. This is like the 3rd of 4th time in a couple years, seems to be the norm now. A birthday party, decked out in pink decor blasting hip hop. What on earth. Why are you at Rainbow? Other patrons/regulars were pissed, as were we. It's just not a reliable bar to come to anymore. There's really no point. We hung out in the downstairs bar after dinner. My friend almost **** her pants when she ordered a Stella bottle and it was almost $15 pre tip. Are we at Soho House??? Was this bottle of Stella personally filled by Brad Pitt? This place was so affordable just a few years ago. At $13 for a beer I hope we're getting stock options in the restaurant. I guess they gotta pay for those Ron Jeremy lawsuits somehow. They aren't pretentious, they're music lovers, the rock bands that come are fresh talent, and the security guys do a great job of looking out for the females against creeps. If you didn't know what was inside, you'd never guess it based on the outside and the name, but it's a seriously cool vibe inside with a lot of rock history that's walked through these doors. Just a great layout and vibe, good music and very friendly and attentive staff. Drinks are tasty and cold, food was very good and they gave a decently large menu with fair prices. To some extent I came for the nostalgia and neighborhood color more than the food so my expectations were tempered. But it was the most overpriced and blandest food I have ever ordered - a cheeseburger that was high school cafeteria quality, reheated Sysco. My office s just down the street on Sunset Boulevard and the food is always great at Rainbow. This place has so much history of rock and roll along with great food. This was disappointing for such an iconic place. The decorations on the walls were great- a ton of autographed photos and great speakers playing good music that was too overly loud that you couldn't talk to your friends. Our server was kind of quirky but very nice to us. We ordered sodas and agreed this was the worst soda we have ever had. It tasted like someone was smoking cigarettes over the soda machine with the lid open, added the wrong ratio of soda syrup and used unfiltered tap water - it was bad. We didn't complain but started feeling worried about the food we ordered based on the quality of the drinks. I'm not exaggerating and would never say poor things about a business unless something was really bad. The food arrived and everyone agreed it was okay. We probably will never come back here again. I'm genuinely concerned about the operations of this place. The host who seated us wasn't very friendly, he seemed like maybe a bouncer or someone who worked at the bar who was helping us because he happened to be there when we walked in. The strawberry fields cocktail became the MVP of the night. Clean bathrooms. A lot of bars within to choose from. A patio for smokers. I'm not one, but yeah... Oh- the chocolate cake- WOWZERS I wish I would've have come before. It was my first time and definitely not my last. Celebrated a birthday and the bday girl asked we met here. I have been coming here for 40 years- and the place has not changed one bit- thankfully! I have so many great memories here, meeting with friends, seeing rock stars, some incredible meals- this place checks all of the boxes- and if you have never been here- I highly suggest coming and taking in all the history and the vibe! You can either go to the bars (both inside and out), or have the hostess take you to one of the booths, where you can imagine all the celebrities who have sat there and held court. While the ambiance is great, the food is spectacular, whether you have a pizza or a steak- and I can attest that the Rainbow has some of the best steaks in all of Hollywood! I highly suggest walking around looking at all the photos and memorabilia which adorned these walls for decades. Make sure you go upstairs and check out the spaces there as well. The walls were decked out with rock stars and memorabilia from all eras!! It was exciting to see who'd been here before and who's considered rockstar royalty!! I went to the Backyard BBQ event. The staff members were all very nice and helpful. They were accommodating. The bands were all great. It is a very hot day. Security was present and effective. I felt safe there. There was a huge crowd. Everyone was respectful. The only complaint I had was there are 2 mens rooms and only 1 ladies room and there was no toilet paper or paper towels the entirety of the time I was at the event. Approximately 7 hours despite making staff aware of the situation. I would go back when in the area. The event overall was epic. read more

This place is fine for late night food when they get it right, but the service can be bad in the dining room. My last visit was easily the worst experience I've had here. I came in after being at The Rox and ordered my usual. The waitress brought out the wrong order and immediately got defensive when I pointed it out. She insisted it couldn't be wrong because she "wrote it down as I said it." However, she had come back earlier to verbally confirm the order with me, and I repeated it clearly. If it had already been written down correctly, I'm not sure why she needed to double check it. When the food arrived, we didn't even have utensils. When I asked for some, she responded with noticeable attitude. I don't come here expecting amazing service, but I also don't expect to argue with the server or have food show up without basic utensils. We ended up boxing everything, paying, and leaving immediately. Definitely the worst experience I've had here. read more

My friend raved about the pizza so we ordered that, and it was good. But -- and I acknowledge this is a strange "but"-- I found it was over-laden with mozz. Like it was five times more cheese than crust. Yeah I know, that's a lousy complaint because, as a cheese lover, I ask myself... how can anyone criticise too much cheese? But for the first time, I think I experienced such a thing. Anyway, one slice filled me up and I felt like a lead balloon. If you can hack the cheese, you'll love the pizza. Everyone who's been here has to have a story (or two, or ten) about the wild bizarre weird or kool sightings and encounters. Even I recall, some high skinny goth guy accosted us the minute we walked in the entrance, propositioning me "will you be my girlfriend?"... That was in the aughts decade. Came here after a show with friends had some okay drink but unfortunately had a run in with either the owner or manager and he proudly stated to us he hated homeless people. What was that about??? This place is definitely one of a kind! Feels like the OG Hard Rock. It's filled with original rock 'n' roll memorabilia and posters, making it a must-visit for music lovers. The atmosphere is really cool, and while we visited around 6 PM, you could tell it probably gets even livelier later in the evening. The staff was super nice, and our server was beyond friendly--she took the time to explain things and had such a great energy that made the experience even better. There are multiple rooms to explore, which adds to the fun, and the whole space has a great, laid-back vibe. We had to check out the Rainbow Bar while in LA! We are both fans of hard rock/metal and this spot has a reputation of hosting many rock icons over the years. You will see that Lemmy from Motörhead's presence is still very felt with a lounge, shrine, and statue dedicated to him. The inside has lots of music paraphernalia, photos, and other interesting things to draw the eye. We enjoyed looking at the display of photos and recognizing many rock artists that attended the Rainbow Bar. There are three floors inside, with the top floor having live music at times. Then there is an outdoor patio and a covered patio with a bar dubbed Lemmy's Lounge which is where we sat. Drinks were good, the bartender was friendly, and it was overall just a fun and chill spot to have some drinks. They also served food (another group got pizza which looked good), but we were just having some drinks before setting off the explore again so didn't partake this time. Overall, I'd recommend stopping in for a drink at the Rainbow, especially if you are a rock fan! read more

We came here the day Ozzy died- my friend is the biggest fan of the genre I know and it's an iconic bar. The decor is amazing, it has a dive feeling which I love. The service was lacking- it wasn't busy but when she did stop, she was nice. The food was all a miss except the pizza. One of the worst bars we've been too. We decided to go there after Halloween night and it was terrible... There's too much of everything but in negative sense. Don't wait to have good drinks - you'll get Jack Daniel's with mostly coke and ice, we barely could feel any alcohol. Bloody Mary was too salty. Looks like they just took it from fries because they didn't have salt at all. Food is horrible there, really oily and plain. They don't provide any sauce. Burger with dry meat and no sauce as well. I am Horrified, my sister and I went she had a 2 year old in her arms , we waited a hour for a table . When the Manager Eric George walked by we asked when we would get a table and he said I DONT NO Maybe never and violently SHOVED my sister , she fell back and I grabbed her before the baby and my sister fell on the floor . We were so shocked we just left . The manager is very aggressive and to shove a lady with a baby so hardmed into the counter at entry . If I could get this place zero stars I absolutely would not only are the staff incredibly rude. The whole establishment is run very poorly. There's cockroaches in the kitchen (seen first hand) and also the owner's wife walks around like she has some iron fist and has people thrown out left and right just because she's getting in the way of real professionals doing their job. I will never come back here and I will make sure that everybody I know sees the video of the odors wife saying that I assaulted her after she physically slapped my hand away which I have on video so if you want to see the video please contact me via social media at Micala Rae Rivera on Facebook and I will be happy to send you the video I have of her actually insulting me and then saying I assaulted her. Epic night. Our Tom Keifer Band (Cinderella) concert ended at the Saban Theater, and the buzz in the front foyer was that everyone was going to the Rainbow, so, off we went! We explored the place inside and out. For those not familiar with, "The Bow," it has a well-earned reputation for hosting many rock icons over the years. You will see that Lemmy from Motörhead's presence is still very felt with a lounge, shrine, and statue dedicated to him. The inside has lots of music paraphernalia, photos, and other interesting things to draw the eye, including the rock patrons, who were all very nice. There are three floors inside, with the top floor having live music on the night we were here. We even found our way into the crow's nest, which is a little wooden room at the top, about the size of a sauna, we got the history from a rando who was holed up there. Then there is an outdoor patio and a covered patio with a bar dubbed Lemmy's Lounge which is where we sat for a spell. Drinks were good, the bartender was friendly, and it was overall just a fun and chill spot to have some drinks. They also serve food; we got a big cheese pizza to end the night. Don't expect it to be fast, any pizza will take about 20 minutes. Overall, I'd recommend stopping in for a drink at the Rainbow, especially if you are a rock fan!
