I been going there since they were across the street. They are friendly and informative. Some of the products that they sell are just like the ones on Amazon only offer limited warranty. This location will do what they can to work with you to get problems corrected. I had a problem with the mighty stair and they went above and beyond for me. My only pool store and I live in Chicago. I ordered a safety cover. I ordered the wrong size and it was small. Apparently once the POOL item touches the pool water it cannot be returned, and they charge a 50% restocking fee. Mine didn't touch the water yet they still kept more than 50%. I reached out to Bbb with my complaint and still they wouldn't exchange it. I'm sure they were able to resell the cover since it was still brand new, never used. I think it's ridiculous that they can get away with this practice. Whatever you do, don't order anything from them. A pool company that won't replace anything if it touches water. They kept almost 700.00 and it cost me 200.00 to return it. I bought a 10 year warranty pool cover 8/28/24, put it on my above ground pool in September 24. When I took it off it in May 25 it had two frayed tears in it. Called and submited pictures for claim. One star is more than they've earned, but it's required in order to submit this review. I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and communication from this company. Despite sending multiple emails to both a staff member and customer service, I never received a return call or response. The freight company I hired to return a large item also attempted several calls, which went unanswered. To make matters worse, they had to escalate the issue to the company's corporate office just to schedule a return delivery. Even then, when the delivery was set, the local facility closed early, preventing the return from being accepted -- despite the scheduled appointment. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, time-consuming, and costly. I've ordered from this company in the past and never expected such disorganization. The way this return was handled raises serious concerns about their customer care practices and reliability. I would not recommend doing business with this company unless their communication and accountability improve significantly. read more

They have the worst customer service, I place my order on the 12 of April, item never got delivered for over a month. I had to hire a pool service since I did not get my suppliers on time. I called to request a return they told me they will not do it, because the items were on sales and all sales items are not returnable. I purchased a solar cover that disintegrated in my pool. It fell apart and the bubbles clogged up my filter and skimmer. I was skimming those bubbles out for days. I sent the pictures on 6/15/24. Coverage was denied. I was in the 2 year of an 8 year warranty. The cover fell apart as I was taking out of the pool. It was denied because of extreme heat and chemicals in the pool. What pool doesn't have chemicals! The warranty only covers it if it rips at the seams! Nothing else is considered a manufacture's defect! I also asked for a response not to be emailed because I don't read emails! They sent the denial on 7/29/24 to my email. So much for the 7 to 10 day response and listening to instructions! I finally called today to get the denial and all of their excuses. I will never buy from them again. There is another review with the exact same issue. read more

Discussed with gentlemen what pumps were available for my current pool setup. He recommended a Doheny's brand pool pump. It was half the price and since the order was being placed before 3p it would arrive the next day. 3 days later the pump arrives. I have a cartridge filter and the gentleman that I chatted with knew this. To my surprise, the pump they sent me could not be rotated to fit the cartridge filter like the Hayward I had. I called and verified this. To make matters worse, I was required to pay $26 for the return shipping. I mean mistakes happen, but why should I be responsible for their mistake. I asked them what pump I needed and they recommended the one that was sent. I would have gladly purchased the correct pump. I have used them in the past, but this order was nonsense. I mean why say overnight if you mean 3 days? And the shipping costs to return? Ridiculous imho. read more

I would give Doheny's a "0" review if I could. I purchased a cartridge filter from them on 8/6/23. The housing leaked so they sent me a new filter. The new one did the same so instead of fixing the problem they just stopped communicating with me. It has now been 1 year and 1 month and I just tried to order a new "O" ring plus a filter cartridge. Both are out of stock and Doheny's hasn't even ordered them and they don't have a date for when they will get stock. So, they cannot service the filter that they sold me 1 year ago and they have no idea if they will ever be able to service it. I will not buy from Doheny's again. read more

I ordered a replacement pump for my above-ground pool. The advertisement said the pump was a replacement for all pumps. When I received it I found out it won't work with my filter system. I contacted the company and was told their return policy requires the purchasers to pay return shipping. I returned the pump through UPS; it was delivered to them June 7 and signed for by "Massimo". On June 29 I have still not received confirmation of the return or a refund. I contacted the company and was given a giant run-around. Avoid this company! An update to a previous review. The pool cover that I purchased was recommended by their Customer Service because the one I was going to buy, for $2K +, was not going to block the sun causing algae growth. I then went ahead with the $4K option and it has been terrible. My pool could not be more green with algae despite what she said. It is so bad, I will have to buy a new cover because it is costing me $$$ in chemicals and time in cleaning. I am literally disgusted. read more

Bought a solar blanket with 3 year warranty and had for 3 months and only used over the pool after I filled the pool up to warm the water so I could test and put chemicals in. Rolled up over pool on roller for when needed later but its been hot and we haven't needed it. It started deteriorating just on the top where the sun was hitting it, small pieces of the little air pocket circles were all in my pool. Message and sent a message and they said they will not cover it! Crazy! No pool blanket should fall apart that fast even if you are using over the pool in the water all summer! Went to send photos and the guy was tired of waiting for the download and left. Started another chat with I was downloading photos and the other guy left and she didn't ask for photos and said they don't cover it! Won't let you NOT PUT A STAR AT ALL, SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY!!! Ordered a pool pump in June. Had a foreign guy help over the phone. The pump was the wrong one. Tried to return the pump in July and they gave me the run around. No where did I ever read 32 days was unreturnable. Never will stay as a customer. Very poor customer relations. They could of let me return the pump with a credit for pool supplies. They claim they have no departments, they only sell the parts, they don't know how any of them work (so why do you sell them), which means calling if you have any issues is useless. Just ordered a filter and pump set over $400 later & somewhere even though it was a set that was to come with all the set parts they managed to send the wrong size base for the filter and pump to sit on. Can't put anything together bc of this oo and it took A WEEK just to get it even though if I had ordered 1hr earlier they claim they could get it to you next day. Then had to call about the issue we were having to find out they sent the wrong base. Then with the correct base the idiot that picks up claims she sends the request to the warehouse - I doubt there is even a separate area and she just doesn't know her job bc for 2 days now no email with the order she claimed I would receive or delivery & then she said she resent the request to the warehouse - why if they already have it just confirm and get them to ship!!! We were excited about our purchase of a new pool liner for our above ground pool from Donhey's catalog. It came very quickly, but we had to wait a few weeks until it could be installed into our pool by professionals. However, on the day that it was supposed to be installed as soon as they opened it and spread it out they realized that we had mistakenly ordered a 24 ft. liner instead of a 21 ft. liner. My husband contacted Doheny's and they told him that he could return it for a refund and purchase one in the correct size, so that is what we did. It was no small effort to pack the huge plastic liner back into the original packaging, but with a lot of work and packaging tape, we were able to do it. It cost over $90 to mail it back to the company, and the smaller pool liner was more expensive than the original one, so we knew we were going to have to eat the cost to get what we wanted and we were okay with that. Then a few days passed, the smaller liner came, and my husband started wondering where the refund for the larger liner was so he contacted the company to check on the status of the refund. The woman on the phone at Doheny's informed him that they weren't going to give us a refund because the box had been opened and because of that it was considered "used"! How on earth could we have used a pool liner that never even went into the pool? She was very abrupt on the phone and when my husband told her he was going to dispute the charge with Discover she told him to "go ahead" and that he "would never be able to buy anything from their company ever again" (as if we'd ever even consider it after being treated so horribly!) So my husband contacted Discover and we will be getting our money back for the perfectly new, unused pool liner that they have in their possession, but it shouldn't have had to come down to that. read more

I placed an order for a pool pump part that I needed quickly and it appeared the item was in stock and would ship immediately. I place the order and then immediately called customer service to confirm they had the part in stock and see if I could expedite and pay for faster delivery. To my dismay I was told the item was not in stock and would probably be shipped within a few days. I asked to cancel the order, customer service rep said he would process the cancellation and I would receive an email confirming the cancellation. INSTEAD I received an email CONFIRMING THE ORDER would be Drop-Shipped from vendor with estimated delivery of 9/17 - NINE DAYS from order date. Feeling something was wrong, but waited to receive cancellation notice. I called the next day to confirm cancellation, customer service said IT HAD NOT BEEN CANCELLED, put me on hold three times for several minutes and finally explained I would need to fill out some vendor feedback form they would send me to process cancellation and they would respond with 24 hours... REALLY!?!?. This has to be one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever experienced. So as I write this my order has still not been cancelled.... I CANNOT RECOMMEND ANY COMPANY THAT OPERATES THIS WAY.... read more
