The taiyaki icecream is quite a treat! I tried the vanilla/matcha swirl with matcha taiyaki filling, Oreo and matcha topping, and pocky ($6). The soft serve ice cream is creamy with a non-bitter matcha. The taiyaki is light and crispy with a slightly chewy inside and spread with matcha paste. It's all decorated with a strawberry and matcha Pocky stick! It overlooks the lake in Tualatin commons and you can't see it from the street or parking lot. Like other reviewers, my friend and I had never had high tea. There aren't many places in WA that offer it. We wrote to all the places we could find in and 100 mile radius to ask if they would accommodate our food allergies for high tea. We had several allergies and correctly assumed this would be a barrier to us finding a place. Doja got back to us the same day and was more than willing to accommodate and even sent us the adjustment they purposed. Two other places got back to us made it seem like it was an imposition and one said they'd charge us an additional fee to change anything on their menu. So, Doja it was. We had issues finding it. It's very invisible from the road and out GPS took us to some fancy houses. You have to go through a parking garage and down stairs by Key bank to find it. Once you do it opens up on a massive lake with lots of wildlife, very picturesque. The windows from your table let you enjoy this serene scenery as you take your time with epic meal. When we were seated we were given a menu, which confused me for a minute because I thought the meal was already agreed upon. I realized moments later that it was an extensive tea menu. Each person gets their own pot of tea and hence, gets to choose their flavor. They will keep refilling your teapot throughout your meal and each time they do, your tea will have a slightly different flavor. I realize that doesn't seem likely but it totally happens. As far as the food. Everything was incredible. If there was a baby false note I would say it was the Brazilian cheese biscuits. The texture was great, they were just a bit salty. That being said, they were still lovely. I think our favorite was the portabello mushroom sandwiches and Irish vanilla scones. I really loved the intense flavors of the elcair and the shortbread. Basically, their food is divine and you will leave completely satisfied. Their service was perfect. The person that attended us was absolutely fabulous. A little gem located in the Tualatin area. Theres no direct route in front of the store so park in the larger retail parking and walk a few steps around the lake to Doja Tea. Reservations are easily made online. The ambiance is very cozy with plants and modern decor. The white linens and table setup will relax the mind and place you in a zen like state. The teas are served and placed on top of a candle warmer. You can select one favor of Tea with unlimited refills of hot water. We made it through 4-5 pours. There's a nice view of the man made lake and ducks are just floating about. The high tea price is comparable to other spots within a $48-55 per person price. The layers of sandwiches sweets and cakes was filling and had enough richness but were not overwhelmingly sweet. The scone was crunchy flakey and nice to eat with marmalade, house custard and clotted cream. This is a place to just relax and sip. I believe there's a time limit but we weren't rushed. Lots of groups trickled in over the hours. There was some Ghibli / final fantasy music playing in the background which was nice and the place isn't too loud with chatter. The tea quality was alright for me, not a deep enough steep like smith tea or packaged loose leaf like harney & sons. There's a vast selection of teas but the flavors and aroma weren't as pronounced as I wanted. Tea can be delicate and have deep flavor. Maybe not enough tea leaves were used. First time for afternoon tea and my friend easily reserved online, with a reminder a day or two before. Shown to our table and the food menu was on the table. We were given the tea menu (plenty of options to choose from) and told everyone gets their own pot tea with water refilled. Milk (oat milk option available) and rock sugar given if you need. A timer for the tea to steep as well. The tower of goods came out with the smell of the warm scone enticing us. The food was great, good in size and we left full. Had to take home some of the desserts on the top tier we did not get to. Enjoyed that there was lots of different flavors for the items- savory and sweet, flavors were not bland or overpowering. The scone was still warm when we got to it after out sandwiches, so good on its own! The clotted cream, jam, and lemon curd work so well with the scone. Staff was in and out to check in a couple times, or we would catch them as they helped another table. There does seem to be a main tea area with multiple small tables and large tables. Then an extended side area for private large groups and two restrooms available in total (one near the front entrance and one near the private side room). My friends and I came here for a weekend high tea and had an amazing time. We reserved for 11am and was surprised to find that the place was not busy at all even though there was very limited options when making reservations. Although we did come the Saturday after the horrible snow, so that could have been a factor. I also must have missed somewhere that there's a time limit when dining here so keep that in mind. I don't quite remember how long the limit was but I want to say 2-3 hours? Our party was so into our conversation that we only had 20 minutes left to finish our last tier. I love the ambiance of this place! Super cute and aesthetic. I love that each person gets their own tea and that there is a candle that keeps the tea hot at all times. Their selection of tea is huge! And you can choose whether you would like cream and sugar with it. As for the food, it's a rotating menu so that keeps things exciting. There were definitely some things I loved and others I was indifferent about. Overall, I had a great time here and would definitely come back next time to try the next menu rotation! read more

Such a cute afternoon tea experience. We made a reservation a week in advanced. Their online booking said they couldn't accommodate our party size of 5. But I ended up calling them and they had a slot towards their last tea set up, which is 4pm. They allow you 2 hours max- and they are really on it with this. This is to allow ample time for them to clean and set up for the next party coming in. We ended up using the 2 hours because we weren't able to be seated till all of our party was there, which was about 15 min after our reservation time. Our tea came out first and then the tasting tower afterwards, which took about 20-25 minutes. The 2 hours isn't too bad. Since we had a lot of keep us busy. Locating this area is pretty tricky. There's a parking lot where G-Man Brewery is. Be sure you read the signs. It's a shared lot with the residences and some have different parking times. You can also park in the parking garage. It's labeled "Doja tea house." Then walk towards the water and you'll find their sign :) The staff are accommodating and welcoming. They do require your entire party to be present in order to seat you. There's 2 party rooms and one main area where you entire. When you're seated- they give you the tea menu which is massive! We ended up getting different teas so we can try each one for the next time we return. We enjoyed the Kyoto blossom, jasmine, and I think it was called red ruby? Their afternoon tea tower was really fun and actually filled us up. We worked from bottom up. We loved their earl grey madeleine and all the other goodies. I placed this at a 4 star since it was my first experience at this location. I would love to return and try other menu items in the future :) read more

When I was visiting family in Santa Clara there ya a place that sells Taiyaki. We tried to go but the line was around the block. I guess one advantage of being in Portland is not having to wait for Taiyaki. It was delicious. My son ate the whole thing so I was left with the dregs of the ice cream. My friends get four more shells they loved them so much. I wish there were more flavors but what are you gonna do. The Mille crepe was excellent too. This is truly an art form. Has a slightly odd mouth feel but tasty. My only complaint is having been to the sister store 5 Flavor; I'm not quite sure what is in the menu here. I don't know if it's reduced due to covid or what. 3.5 Really wanted to like this place, and I do! But I think there are things they can improve, and I'm wishing them the best during quarantine and excited to see them improve! First, the space is nice. They have a cute flower wall in the back a some seating inside and tables outside, for when people can stay to eat. I'm sure it'll look even better filled with people once quarantine is done. It's also right by the artificial Tualatin lake/pond so it's a nice location. Second, I was beyond excited to try the taiyaki. For those who don't know, taiyaki is a Japanese fish shaped "bread" (think pancake batter texture) that is traditionally filled with red bean. This is the only place in Portland that sells ice cream taiyaki so I am very grateful that they opened. They offer matcha or vanilla soft serve, with red bean or Nutella filled taiyaki, plus your choice of topping - and it comes with two pocky. We had both ordered matcha soft serve however after paying and waiting a few minutes, we were told their machine isn't working. The staff, who were nice but young, didn't know how to fix it - understandable, I wouldn't either - so they asked if we would be okay with the vanilla. We had already paid and were excited to try it so we said sure but both agreed that it would've been nice of them to offer an extra topping since we had already paid. They were out of at least one of their signature drinks as well - but again, the staff seemed young (though nice!) and quarantine is a confusing/hard time for businesses. The taiyaki is $6. The soft serve is good and typical soft serve. Their taiyaki has a texture more similar to mochi than the traditional style. It's tasty though, crispy on the outside and chewy inside. The red bean filling was quite light though. They had a few other dessert selections in the case that looked fine. And of course they have what seems like a nice tea selection and I'd like to try them some time. Like I said in the beginning, I'm rooting for them! read more

My gf and I went in today looking forward to the Taiyaki ice cream to cool down from the hot weather. But it seems like their business format has changed and they only offer the tea experience w/side dish for $45 per person with reservations. You won't be able to get any of the ice cream previously shown on Yelp. We ordered milky oolong anyway. It would be awkward to walk out empty handed. Unfortunately, the drink we received was wrong. It tastes more like water with a very light hint of green tea and no milk. I believe the owner is the same as the one as 5 Flavors in Hillsboro (cup labeled). I'd appreciate it if staff informed us about the business model change so we don't get the wrong expectations. I learned about this spot from their sister shop, 5 Flavor Cafe. I looked it up on Yelp and called ahead before stopping in to make sure they weren't sold out of Mille crepe cakes before I got there! Very friendly service on the phone and in person. I had some work to do and it was a nice find! There's WiFi, clean bathroom, outlets for my laptop, a view of the water, and lots of natural light. In the case was one lonely Mille crepe cake slice. It looked a little sad but I had come all this way! I asked if these were made fresh every day. He said actually his wife makes them in batches and they freeze really well. I also ordered a pot of the Honey Rooibos tea. Before serving the cake, he prepared it by sprinkling sugar crystals on it and then torching the top. All of a sudden the little crepe cake didn't look sad anymore! Met the owner, Steve who was prepping for opening. He was welcoming and Took his time to tell us about his specialties and passion for all the delicacies. Items in the Case are offered daily (squares) and some Seasonal items (rectangle). Their one one of a kind Matcha is sourced from Japan making their matcha milk tea the perfect refreshment. The Taiyaki swirl is a must try topped off with Oreo crumbles. Crisp on the outside with Custard inside and an oh so creamy vanilla and matcha as a sweet pair. YUMM! I'm still daydreaming about this. We shared one but of course you may want your own and lick the bowl clean. Bailey enjoyed it.;) Clean, cute interior with limited seating and outdoor seating where you can watch the ducks swim by. A lovely little place tucked on the lake with full pots of tea and nice array of desserts and treats. We shared a crepe cake slice that was such a rainbow feast for the eyes, although I had wished there was slightly more flavor to it. Our shared pot of tea was impeccable. Okay, I gave in and tried it out with a to-go order. They had a bridgerton box for 2 and I was excited to have tea at home while watching season three. Not such a big deal, but the packaging was very underwhelming. It would have been nice, for the price, if they had been a bit creative & put some thought into an actual box like they show on their Instagram. Instead it was to-go boxes in a brown paper bag. Regarding the food..I am so sorry to be critical, but I was extremely disappointed. First time in a long time that I've been disappointed with tea bites from a tea house. The lavender "cake" was straight up cheap box mix with bad hot pink and purple food coloring + too much fake lavender flavoring added. The sandwiches were...off putting. Pickled vegetable had a funky flavor & the cucumber sandwiches (my favorite sandwich ever) were bland and boring. The Brie filled little puffs would have been good with not so much filling and far less truffle flavor, it was just overly rich. Macaron, again overwhelming fake flavoring tasted. The one thing I did enjoy, and I will say they do really well: the scones! I loved them. It seems like the person making the scones has to be different than the person making the rest, or there's so much work going into the great scones that the other pastries get cheaply rushed. I would eat the scones again any day, but for the price I spent for the order it was quite ridiculous to find Betty Crocker cake. A lot got thrown away unfortunately. read more

I hate to give a business 1 star, especially since I watched a video about the owners before going and they seemed SO nice. But I need to bring attention to one of the waiters (maybe he was the manager??), because he was SO RUDE. Very unprofessional and shooed us away after I had called twice to confirm that they had tons of availability for walk-ins, and the initial hostess almost sat us when we first walked in. The man spoke to his hostess/wait staff rudely in front of us too. We drove over 30 minutes to get there, and we left immediately and vowed to never return! The lady who greeted us and spoke to on the phone was very nice, I wish it wasn't run by that snobby man! I enjoyed it all! This High Tea had the floral theme and I really was unsure how that would taste. It was literally captivating on my palate! We were here for afternoon tea. Service was not very attentive. I would have liked water in addition to my tea but the waitress never came back after delivering our food. The 3 tea sandwiches were all made with plain white bread that was a bit stale and filling was not very impressive. The scone was delicious but we were given about 2 teaspoons of clotted cream to share between two of us - and that wasn't even enough for one scone. I really wanted to LOVE this place, but it was a disappointment. The venue itself is charming. We chose to sit outside by the lake. In retrospect, we should have sat inside for several reasons. The heat for one and perhaps the service would have been more attentive. We asked for water four times and were forgotten about. The food was average, the bread was a bit stale. The savory items were good. The sweets were ok, but not a wow factor. I did not leave with the feeling of - I want to come back. I asked for some more clotted cream for our party of four. He came back with the tiniest vessel- not even enough for one. We were not checked on during the 2 hour service to see how things were going. Two of us had to go inside to request more water- which did not happen. I mentioned to a waitress about being disappointed and really wanting them to be successful. We don't have very many nice places out this way. I did receive a call from the owner and expressed my thoughts. He wanted feedback and apologized but did not offer any compensation of any kind. She didn't seem to know the difference between the only two oolong teas on the menu and made something up, and she acted offended that I asked. I've been wanting to try this place for WEEKS since I got a glimpse of their Mille crepes cakes all over my social media. I've been wanting crepe Mille cakes for a while and have not seen any yet in Oregon. When I saw they had Hood Strawberry Mille Crepes and only for a limited time understandably, I knew I had to stop by soon. I love me some Hood Strawberries!!!! When I got there, I of course got a slice of the Hood Strawberry Mille Crepe Cake ($9) and my bf got the tiramisu ($5). Not going to lie the Hood Strawberry Mille Crepe Cake was a let down for me. I've had Mille crepe cakes before and this just did not compare. The cake was moist, but the cream between the layers were a bit lacking. I know making this type of cake is very time consuming since you have to make the layers one by one. The crepe layers weren't as thin as from other places I've had and expected. This translated in the texture of the cake as it's not as soft and delicate like most Mille cakes. But most of all, the sweet hood strawberry flavor didn't really come through in the cake unfortunately. To my surprise, I enjoyed the Tiramisu a lot more than the Mille crepe cake. It was moist, not too sweet, and had good flavor. Overall, I had high hopes for this place and maybe that is why I was left a little disappointed. But I'm glad that Mille crepe cakes are available now in Oregon! The place is quite small with 2 tables inside.
