    Chicken karaage
    Linda W.

Where do I start? This place took me out of retirement from yelping. This review is heavy on customer service (or the lack of) and the food. There were 7 if us today. 4 adults and 3 kids. The kids ordered the chicken udon bowls. The adults had chicken karaage, 2 bentos and a few rolls. Chicken karaage- these were literally Tyson chicken strips. They were gross and nothing like how real karaage is at the Japanese restaurant. Do not recommend. Bento box- tempura batter was heavy, but decent. The chicken teriyaki was basically 4 pieces of boiled chicken stir fried with veggies. Wouldn't called traditional teriyaki. Salad was good and California roll was as expected. Udon- again with the boiled chicken, veggies and noodles. The broth wasn't awful but super sweet. Rolls- I didn't have them but my Sister in law said it was mid. Now on to the service. The server acted like she didn't want to be at work. Didn't check on our water, we had to remind her to bring out the extra bowl, and she just wasn't pleasant. I overheard the server that it was an additional $3 to split the bill for the table next to us which is ridiculous. I don't know how this place has this many stars. I wouldn't go back and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Doke is a tiny little sushi ans Japanese restaurant in the heart of down town Murphys. I reccomend making reservations as indoor seating is limited. The restaurant consisted of 1 hostess/server, a sushi chef and a cook. The food was incredible. The poke crisps were *chefs kiss* I could have eaten the whole order myself. The Big Trees & Dragon Roll were our parties top 2 rolls followed by the Caterpillar Roll. The sushi was top notch and excellent quality. 10/10 would reccomend. We will definitely be back. If you haven't been, don't wait!

We love doke, eat there a few times a month. Check their hours and reserve a seat as they can get full quick. Enjoy.

Amazing staff and wonderful food - YOU need to make reservations Absolutely everything met expectations

    Chicken Ramen

I' ve been here a handful of times. Me and my friends enjoy getting a bite here, every time we visit Murphys. The music playing is always different genre every time, ( which we love)! The service is great we always get the same Hawaiian server, Aioli. She is always working hard, and still delivers great service. We have visited for lunch and dinner and the menu is the same. Dinner seems to be busier so definitely make a reservation. I do agree, with other reviews, that seating at bar is quicker service, they tend to prioritize bar before tables. The Karage Chicken, I had on Saturday for lunch sitting at the bar seating and Me and my friends returned for dinner on Sunday. Dinner consisted of Calaveras Roll, Aidan's Roll, chicken Ramen and chicken Bento Box. Definitely come check Doke Sushi out if your in Murphys.

Our food came out pretty quick and man it was all so good very flavorful dipping sauces the amount of food was perfect the appetizers were awesome love the calamari crunch and spicy edamame was great. We picked out the below Spicy Edamame Calamari Chicken & shrimp Steak& shrimp Steak shrimp & scallops Jalapeño Blaze sushi roll (so so good ) All plates came with sautéed veggies and choice of regular rice or $2 extra for fried rice which was perfectly cooked . We were also giving a small salad and miso soup omg perfect dressing on the salad and the soup was really good. This place definitely deserves a 5 star definitely would come back

Upon entering we were greeted and invited to sit anywhere. I went with my husband, though there wasn't a lot of two top seats, we made ourself comfortable in the corner. Staff was friendly, though i'm not sure why even have 3 wait staff on when patrons put in the order themselves on paper. waitress just grabs and goes. I enjoy having conversation and feeling taken care of at a restaurant, this provides a disconnect and makes things off putting. Menu does not have prices. This is concerning as a patron and dissolves the little trust built. Taro Ube Boba was amazing, although the consistency of the boba was starting to get gummy. it was towards the end of the day, and happens at most restaurants. 5/5 We ordered the octopus balls and were accidentally given the gyoza - it was pleasant. Although seemed to be a bit watery from the boiling process. However nothing to write home about. This item was not on the final bill. 3/5 octopus balls had nice flavor. those unfamiliar may complain about the strong fish but that is how the dish is prepared. I wish it was prepared with a firmer cook, as it basically disintegrates the moment it enters your mouth. I believe the correct cook should allow you to take a single bite without it collapsing. 3/5 pork belly ramen: a single piece of overcooked and grey pork belly. Dry as the desert. all items seemed to be purchased from savemart next door. the single redeeming item in the entire bowl was the marinated shiitake mushrooms. 2/5 the most unfortunate part of our meal was the poke bowl. incredibly regrettable with zero redeeming qualities. i specifically beg everyone not to order the shrimp. This must have been a 91 count. Tasted like a wet freezer. Gave my husband and I the heebie jeebies. -10/5 i'd be embarrassed to serve this at my restaurant. I am a huge asian food enthusiast and that's why I beg everyone to avoid this place. There's a sign on the wall saying it's been rated top 100 Ramen spots in california. that is either some crazy joke or they are number 100.

We were driving home from Sacramento and looking for some food. Of all the options, sushi sounded…read morethe best. M Sushi is only about 5 min off the freeway entrance. Not too bad. As we are walking up, I start to wonder about the town we are in. How is my mixed nationality family going to be received? I forget what city it was, but I remember once making a quick stop off the 99 for a break, and feeling like we stood out like sore thumbs. Fortunately that wasn't our experience today. We walk in and we are warmly greeted. The restaurant is fairly busy, so we get seated way in the back....near the restroom. We start looking over the menu, making our drink orders, and my wife asks if I smell something? I don't, but my son, who is sitting closer to the restrooms says, he does. After we make our orders, my wife can't take it anymore and gets up and asks to be seated at another table. A couple of tables have cleared, so we get seated closer to the center. After which, my son says that he was starting to feel sick at our old seats. Had we not moved, I think they both would have been miserable. From here on out, it's just good times. The food arrives. My wife and I got bento boxes. Katsu chicken for me, sesame chicken for her. The kids all get sushi the rainbow roll, all in one (I believe), and a hand roll. My son would later say that he thought the hand roll was bigger and that he wish he would have gotten something else, even though in the pictures, it was clearly smaller than the other rolls. While I'm on the subject. The way the rolls looked in the pictures, they look small, because they are paired into 4 sections. Everybody missed the fact that each section was cut in half, giving you 8 pieces. If you're not looking at the detail, it just looks like 4 pieces. In the end, I think the smallest roll we got was 9 slices. The hand roll, though, was probably comparable to 6 sushi slices. But, with the 2 bento boxes, we had plenty of food. I also came to learn that not all katsu sauces are the same. Back home, I've only ever had Maui katsu sauce. At M Bitro, I learned what Japanese katsu sauce is supposed to taste like, and I gotta say, I'm not a fan. I was so disappointed with the strong taste of ketchup that my first thought was, this isn't katsu sauce. What I'm familiar with is sweeter. Well, after a quick Google search of katsu sauce, it turns out, the main ingredient is......ketchup! Yeah, nobody in the family liked it. I'm also not going to knock M Sushi for being authentic. Unless somebody forgot to add the sugar.... Yeah, I can't say for sure. To be continued for sure. In summary, great food, good time. 2 more hours on the road before we got home. Only one real complain that had us changing seats. Easy fix
