Heard about Be Wok and decided to try it out. 3 family member who love sushi came with me. I will say the one thing that people complain about is the service. While we didn't experience what I have seen in reviews we did ask multiple times for a beer and never got it. The restaurant was not busy so that's all I can objectively say. The soft shell crab was cook, came very hot and had good flavor, not fishy. The first thing I do at any new sushi restaurant is smell the fish. Fortunately all the fish looked fresh and had no detectable fishy smell. We ordered the Lover's boat combo along with some rolls including the Green Dragon Roll which is all eel and Avocado. The Regular tuna was good, not stringy and all the other fish was tender with all the expected textures. The Salmon nigiri was good. No complaints about the food. I do think the bad service reviews bring down the reviews score and we mentally went here thinking the service would be bad and it did have a miss with repeated asking for a beer, I think without the service issue you'll get decent sushi with a huge menu and most of the fish you typically find at Sushi restaurants. Now there are no Japanese behind the sushi counter and they have a complete Chinese menu which is a bit different but not unheard of as I used to east at a Sushi Chinese restaurant in Castro Valley that was outstanding. Prices are excellent with rolls from 12-15 bucks compared to low to mid 20's in Sacramento and the Bay Area. The rice was good, good flavor and texture I expect with sushi rice, not overly seasoned with vinegar. I'll be back for the Chinese food as that looked very good. 4 stars read more

Another Day, Another Be Wok Meal. Spent another lunch break at Be Wok. We love the option of the lunch specials that come with fried rice & chow mien along with miso soup. I am a sucker for the garlic edamame and I crave it often. We also opted into getting Spring Rolls. We split a Green Dragon Roll & a Sonora Wild Wind Roll. Both were delicious. This restaurant food is very good. Their service is awful. The waiter gave us lettuce wraps no lettuce for a long while we just sat there. Double charged on bill for edamame. We used to come here to eat all of the time up until about two years ago when things went south. Today we thought we would try again and it was even worse than we remembered. Hot and sour soup taste like dirty water, deep fried potstickers were so small and the sauce with it taste like pure soy sauce. The barbecue pork fried rice taste like burnt oil. The server had no personality at all, not once talk to us and pretty much just threw everything down on our table. Needless to say, we are never going back :( read more

I've had BE Wok quite a bit over the years, and it's stayed pretty consistent. The customer service isn't great -- the male servers definitely seem to have an attitude. The food itself isn't bad; I like the honey walnut shrimp and the creamy sriracha. The Lion King roll is really good too. Definitely not my go-to, but not bad if you're craving sushi and Kobe is closed. read more

They need to remove this young man before they start losing business. This isn't the first time I will definitely will complaint. Had a small birthday dinner tonight. There was 10 of us. Table was all ready when we got there. Server Sam went above and beyond to make sure everything was right. He joked with all of us, made sure we had refills etc. They even comped several Mochis for the birthday girl and enough to share with her friends. We love the food, it's usually exactly what we want and consistently good. That said, we don't really dine-in here, we really only order to go. My man went inside once with his brother, and the service was poor as others have also reported. He said they waited an unreasonable amount of time to be seated at the sushi bar, and then the food took what felt like forever during a not so busy time. So I don't have much desire to dine-in here. Seems like a common issue, dine in service. But definitely love it as our local take out spot for Asian fusion cuisine! The food is good, not great. My son loves the sushi. However the staff, especially one waiter is absolutely the most rude person. No smile, made us feel stupid for ordering a cup of wonton soup. Since I'm a local, I've been to this restaurant several times and always had good luck. I decided to treat myself today and walked in giving them an order that I would come back in a few minutes to pick up. I will say the sushi was delicious. However this was easily the worst tempura I've ever had. the shrimp was overcooked and hard like it had been Old and sitting there a while. The tempura coating on the veggies was awful and undercooked to the point of being mushy, and tasteless and, since I sometimes make tempura at home, the batter had too much water in it because the coating was very very thin. Even the tempura sauce was watered down so it had no flavor. BE Wok is the best Sushi and Chinese food in at least the three surrounding counties. The rolls are spectacular and scrumptious. We love their Chinese but the hot dishes could be a little hotter. I like spicy but the Chinese hot sauce remedies that. This one deserves a 6+ but five is the highest you can rate it on yelp. read more

Im a regular here.. for Sonora it's one of the better places. Food is always done proper and fresh. Due to standard fish quality when not near the ocean, we don't get sushi any longer. The chicken salad is bomb! Go for the large miso if there are 2+ enjoying miso. Great service read more

This is one of those hole-in-the-wall gems - don't let the outside deceive you! With an old sign and tinted windows, I initially thought maybe they closed down, that is until I tried the door and entered a whole different dimension. The ambiance was peaceful and delicate. Be Wok is the best Asian cuisine in Sonora. They're affordable, and the ambiance is very authentic, and the staff are friendly. The service isn't the fastest, but it's not the slowest either. They have a huge menu, with nearly everything you can imagine (from Chinese to Japanese cuisine). They make a really good miso soup, seaweed salad, and sushi. Worst service I've gotten from a restaurant. It's not the first time at this location. The first time the server chased us to the front and told us to tip more. Even though he didn't come take our order or come take our drink order for around 30 minutes of being seated, they forgot one of our sides and put it in a to go box without telling us, never came and checked on us, and was extremely rude. The second event we had a lady who chased us outside and told us we were extremely disrespectful for our tip we did leave. She barely checked on us, was extremely rude, messed up our order and asked us if we wanted it and we told her no so she rolled her eyes, walked back and immediately came back with it corrected. There has been numerous times of disrespect from this establishment and we aren't "Karens" until the second event, now we're done and hope no other people are being disrespected as much as we have been. read more

This place is an okay stop for Chinese / Asian fusion in Sonora. There aren't many options up here and this place is just fine. The Mongolian beef is good, beef is tender, lots of onion, good flavor on the sauce. It's my favorite thing I've had there. The potstickers are super good, thin skin, nicely pan fried. The chow mein is okay. I think it may come from a warming dish in the kitchen, it doesn't taste freshly made. Overcooked noodles. I've had it a few times and get this feeling each time. Next time we will try the fried rice. I can't speak to the sushi. The service is not bad unless you sit at the bar. Table service is attentive, friendly. Bar service you are splitting your time with to-go orders, and there are a lot of them. But they are still friendly. Price can add up, but if you share stuff you can keep it to less than $20 a person. They have ramune and asian beers if you are in to that sort of thing.
