Norwegian gravlax. Great sauce and pickles

Great tasting oysters. Interesting menu with smoked fish, lobster rolls and cheese and bread platters. Small menu but they do it well. Staff made great recommendations on which oysters to order. We also liked the Norwegian smoked salmon. It felt like a seafood restaurant in Maine.

I had a lobster roll to start. Although it cost $32 it probably was the best one I've ever had as well as being the most expensive. There was a typo on the menu priced at $35. I elected to have it with butter served on a warm roll. An abundance of lobster. I followed that up with a bowl of New England clam chowder. Also another good choice. The server and owner were both very pleasant and accommodating. What nice hospitality. We ate at the counter. A nice dining experience.

Yes, like you, I was concerned about trying to eat fresh oysters, and lobster rolls this far from the ocean. This place cured those fears and I would have no problem. Recommending this place to anybody who likes oysters and lobster rolls. We had identified the restaurant prior to arrival in the town and we were lucky enough to have it be only a two minute walk from our Airbnb. We wanted for nothing, as the service was very good. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, made suggestions, and willing to go the extra mile for us as we kept re-ordering additional food. They had many different specific oysters to choose from and they grilled them or served them raw, depending on what you preferred. As it turns out between the four of us eating, we had it both ways and they both were special. It was a beautiful evening and so our group of four decided to eat on the table right on the street. We enjoyed the ambience very much. So, if you're like me, and you're a little bit skeptical of the quality of the seafood being served in Murphy's California, there is nothing to worry about right here. Everything looked and tasted great, the service was great. They didn't rush us and we drank a bottle of California sparkling wine from Schramsberg, and so for a couple of hours last night, everything was right in the world.

Visiting Calavares Park for Memorial day weekend so happened to roll through Murphy Ca. Saw this place with a very interesting menu so wanted to try. Honestly really wanted to try oyster but the other stuff was calling to us. Had lobster roll. Your standard roll. Decent price came with chips. Nothing crazy here, a good size roll with plenty of meat. I had a Bayonne - which is a duck prosciutto grilled sandwich. I thought this was really good. It have a little bit of carmalize onion or something that balance the salty meat well. Though it was gone pretty quickly. The spot is also a CBD store if you're into that kinda stuff. I find the menu to have a lot of interesting sandwiches and charcuterie board. Not sure when the next time I come back to Murphy but wouldn't mind coming back to try more things.

Our family of six really enjoyed our afternoon at Murphys Grade. Oysters were so fresh and yummy. I like the sauces that came with the oysters, especially the jalepeno one which has a nice kick! The kids enjoyed the smoked halibut and bread while the grownups enjoyed some drinks and seafood. I really liked the lobster roll too, plenty of lobster meat in the roll. They had some interesting CBD drinks on the menu. I convinced my parents to try some. I can't try it since my company does random drug testing and I don't want t risk my job. Service was great. They kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything else. We were only there for an afternoon snack and so didn't order that much. The ambiance is nice and chill. Bathroom was clean. I would totally come again when I visit the area again.

Staff here are amazing, and the food is exceptional! This is my favorite restaurant when I'm in the area!!

Oh my goodness--these lobster rolls are incredible! I meant to snap a photo before digging in, but they were so delicious I forgot until I was halfway through (see photo!). Truly indistinguishable from the ones you get in Maine--and that's no accident. The owners are from New England and they absolutely nailed that authentic flavor and texture (The bun is grilled to a delectable crispy perfection on the outside!). Gah! Pro tip: get it with the garlic butter. You will not regret it. We also had the raw oysters, which were super fresh and perfectly chilled. Service is always warm and welcoming here. Such a gem!

Murphy Grade After a morning exploring the local caverns, we stopped by Murphy Grade for lunch, and it hit the spot! The place was busy, but we were excited to try some of their popular dishes. The lobster roll (29) came hot with garlic butter and was packed with tender lobster meat--definitely worth it. The kettle chips on the side added a nice crunch. We also got the New England chowder bowl (13), which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The food was excellent, and while the service was a bit slow due to the crowd, it was understandable. Great spot for lunch in the area! Def my new go to spot if I ever decide to explore the caverns again!

We live in Copperopolis, about 40 minutes from this resturant. Searching for a lobster roll we drove down to Napa and tried a highly rated resturant. What a joke it was. Our friends AND the owner of Murphys Grade jumped on our Facebook post to comment on our search to find a good Lobster roll. So the next day we headed over and gave it a try. Holy shit, lol, what a difference. Murphys Grade was leaps and bounds better than the Napa restaurant we went to. I can't believe we are so lucky to have a local restaurant that delivers such wonderful food. A fkn + Ok, so we got 2 lobster rolls, one Garlic butter and one regular butter. Both Note worthy! Do not hesitate if you like Lobster, they are very full, excellent rolls. Alsothe chips that come with it are a perfect addition. We also had hummus with bread, it's very good, and well portioned. I got a dozen roasted oysters, and they were also good. Customer service was excellent. I think the owner, and 2 or 3 different servers checked on us numerous times. But their timing was really well placed, not like sometimes when you have a server just hovering over you. They did excellent. Was a great experience and the way food service should be. Kudos to the owner for dialing everything in and having the servers and food to make it a great experience. We will certainly be going back.

    The lobster rolls - OMG!!

Throw a Michelin star on this place - for real! What a score we just happened to come across. We went in interested in trying out the lobster roll and walked out in shock - this place kicks a*s! Every item on the menu is carefully made with the absolute best ingredients! While we sat at the bar and watched the chef curate everything from scratch, we savored the crostini with homemade hummus (amazing!) and sipped on the best freakin bloody mary made from their homemade mix! Lastly, don't even get me started on the lobster roll! Yeah...the lobster roll - it's indescribable. You force yourself to eat slowly because you don't want it to end. Truly, a very special place in the heart of one of the best foothill towns. Not gonna lie; from the Bay Area, it's worth a trip to Murphys just to go here. Keep up the phenomenal work Murphys Grade!

This restaurant had an at home/family feel to it. The oysters were great! I'm normally not a fan of oysters but they were delicious from here. Must try the lobster sandwich!! Cooked to perfection with crispy buttery bread and delicious lobster. They have cool infused drinks too. Waitress was funny and friendly. Fun chill environment.

Even though it was late on a Tuesday the patio was still busy. We got a nice table outside because it was a beautiful day and we had our GSD with us. Shared the beet salad and the chicken burrito and also a kids hamburger with fries for the pup ( fries were for us). PROTIP: We took the option to split each dish by the kitchen and although it cost a couple bucks more, you get a little more of everything! Beet salad was solid with perfect allocations of all ingredients. I would say it was a bit heavy on the dressing but I like minimal dressing and my partner said it was perfect so there you go. The burrito was "wet" and delicious! Lots of flavor fresh ingredients and very saucy. Only thing it lacked was a little heat. Ask for tapatio if you like a little spice. The hamburger by the way, was larger than a normal hamburger you get on the kiddie menu. And the fries were piping hot and fresh. Our dog loved the burger as he should and we downed all the fries. Highly recommend and will be back!

When the dish was placed before me the bread slid to the other side of the white dish that had no other accompanying garnish like a piece of lettuce or parsley. It was one, maybe a 2" x 5" very thin piece of sourdough toast. Hardly a snack. Bacon was obviously cooked hours before and very overcooked. This dish was hardly appetizing as it was covered by three slices of very crispy bacon which fell to the side, revealing about four microscopic chips of tomato and 4 of avocado. The avocado was over ripe and black and I could barely see the yellow tomato. I was very disappointed in the visual appearance of this dish, to say the least! And the ingredients were barely present to illicit any flavor. I was given silverware, but upon trying to cut the toast the whole thing fell apart. I pieced it together and used my hands. Now, I know fresh food items are expensive, but this item in no way warranted the price of $16.75! I do not recommend this very busy, seemingly popular eatery.

Some things to note, highly encourage reservation ahead of time. We got there an hour before closing on a Sunday and even though there was a table open they almost didn't seat us. It is small on the inside with limited tables so I would not say it's great for groups. They stop serving about 30 minutes before the posted closing time and don't make exceptions. We ended up ordering a Jenni role which had tofu/cream cheese/cucumber inside and avocado/panko/doke sauce outside and it was seriously amazing. Although there were only two veggie roll options on the menu I could easily eat two of this roll alone. Things only got better with the curry. I assumed the curry was going to be Japanese style, but they are actually more thai style yellow and panang curry options. Unfortunately the Udon and Ramen dishes are not vegetarian as they are made with fish broth. But the yellow curry was perhaps the best yellow curry we've ever had (and we are a bit of curry snobs). The sauce was lighter than a traditional thai yellow curry and it had a delicious sweet finish. The veggies were tasty and fresh. When we come back to Murphys I will certainly be going for this curry again. I do wish they had a few more vegetarian options, but very glad the ones they do are outstanding.

Great assortment of fish and the sauce splatter is gorgeous. Poseidon roll: our favorite! This roll was really tasty and all the elements worked well together. I ordered the 1 dozen oysters, clam linguine, and house salad. Oysters -- 7/10 The oysters were really fresh and shucked right in front of you, which was definitely a plus. They were a little too big for my liking and had a creamier texture than I prefer, but overall they were good. Clam Linguine -- 7/10 The linguine was solid. The portion was decent, and I liked the combination of clams, lemon, garlic, and Parmesan. Nothing that completely blew me away, but still a good dish. Might pass on the parmesan next time because it clunked up as it melted in the dish. House Salad The salad was actually pretty good and surprisingly large for a house salad. Fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives, and plenty of croutons. Overall, everything is prepared fresh right in front of you, which I really enjoyed. The oysters being freshly shucked definitely added to the experience. The wait wasn't terrible, and if you're an oyster or seafood fan, it's worth stopping by while you're in Tahoe.
