Delicious Japanese cafe right downtown. I love their taiyaki! This one has mochi, strawberry's, and a vanilla custard and dark chocolate syrup. It's the perfect treat! The cafe has some games to play inside and plenty of seating. They also sell things like cakes, crepes, and pancakes. Everything is made fresh so it may take a moment to receive but worth the wait!
We went here after our dinner plans failed, cause why not have dessert for dinner when life doesn't go as planned! The food was so good and they were quick with getting it to us as well! I was shocked by the food and can't wait to go back! It can be hard to find but don't give up! You have to try this place asap!
Went here for a nice dessert to end date night. We ordered the honeydew melon boba, biscoff taiyaki, custard taiyaki, & a blossom cake crepe. Staff will wait for you to ring the bell to order. They have a board which shows how long it will take to get more labor intensive items such as the pancakes. It is a busy spot with limited parking & the sign can be tough to spot as it's sandwiched between 2 other places. I left off a star due to the long waits for popular items, difficulty finding the location, & lack of parking. Food was great, but be prepared to wait (like an hour) for select items.
My kids adore the desserts here, especially the pancakes! The food is great, but the service could use some love. We waited about 10 minutes for the cashier to come out from the kitchen, even after ringing the bell twice. There was no greeting when she finally appeared, and the tables were dirty (I had to clean ours myself). The gold knives on the table were dusty, and they were out of plastic knives. Still, the food is worth it--we'll probably just do to-go next time!
Got the Bunny panna cotta with ube sauce, less than $5! It was tasty. You don't have to get ube, they have a ton of other sauces as well. Loved all of the anime and studio ghibli art inside
I love the atmosphere here. The service is quick and everyone here is nice. The Ube latte was delicious and not too sweet. Everything is fairly priced and is a great place to stop by and relax.
Visiting from Vegas here and this shop is so cute. Right as you come in it has a calming aesthetic. It has K-pop music playing and anime decorations. It has claw machines too which is great. The dessert is so good and it's so aesthetic. The desserts are really yummy and they have a lot of flavors and options. I love the bunny pancotta. The service was pretty good too. The staff is very kind. Overall, this place is awesome and I 1000000% recommend you go here! I love it!
Doki Doki has amazing Asian desserts. It is a cute cafe perfect for dates and hangouts. They are famous for their crepe cakes and fluffy pancakes, and even have bunny-shaped panna cotta. I enjoy their crepe cakes the most, especially the ube and passion fruit flavors. I tried the mango basque cheesecake this time, and it was amazing! The fluffy pancakes could take like 30 minutes because they make it fresh, so I didn't order it this time, but I'd like to try it out next time!
Cute little Asian cafe in SLC. I chose this place because I saw they had a lot of Corgi decor. As a proud father of two Corgis, how could I not visit them? The service is at the counter here. You order and they bring it to you. It wasn't super fast but it wasn't slow either! We were in good company so no complaints there. Their selection is interesting. I do wish they had red bean taiyaki. The tiramisu is not to sweet; perfect in my opinion. The taiyaki was also very fluffy and tasty. I highly recommend Doki Doki and a night lite dessert option!
Cute place with desserts to match! I love the variety they have in types of desserts and flavors. The atmosphere is cute and friendly. Would come here again! It can be busy in the evenings or weekends so ordering ahead can be super helpful! We enjoyed the peach cobbler crepe cake slice and the longan supreme fruit tea. Both are sweet and shareable.
Super cute shop and staff is very friendly. We tried the Oreo and Nutella taiyaki both were delish but the Nutella was amazing. I also ordered the vanilla panna cotta (wiggly bunnies) with strawberry cheesecake sauce and the sauce tasted so fresh. The panna cotta was also great it tastes like vanilla custard jello. 10/10 recommend and we will definitely be back to try the pancakes. We saw many people order and they look so fluffy!

First time trying a boba drink and unfortunately it wasn't my style.. tasted like soggy round gummy bears in my drink. The crepe was too thick, which gave it a spongy consistency, but the flavor was good. read more

SO...this was a hard review for me due to so many cons and pros. Beware: This is a long one! I'll start with the Cons. For me, at least, this was NOT a customer-friendly place. When I discovered that they had these 2 items that I have been dying to try for awhile now (namely, the "Japanese Souffle Pancake" AND "Mille Crepe Cake"!!), I did everything I could to squeeze them into my short trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. Well, unfortunately, things weren't so easy. For their Crepe Cake, you have to first place an online order way in advance and pay for the item/items. Then, you have to pick it up after 5 pm. Well, my plan was to stop in around noon to have my Souffle Pancake, and while there, pick up the Crepe Cake. With that in mind, I emailed them (via their website) many days ago, requesting a Friday noon pick-up. No response!! So I call the place directly, and spoke with a lady (who turned out to be the Manager or an Owner...and happened to be there when I visited), who basically said YES, I CAN have the Souffle Pancake at noon on the day of my visit (Friday), but that NO, I can't pick up the Crepe Cake at noon (though I requested this way in advance via email). That meant I would have to uber back to this place on Saturday. BTW, time is precious while you're traveling, and to do this for a frickin' cake?!? That's not all. Now comes the big runaround with the almighty "Japanese Souffle Pancake". I show up at noon (as I called in advance) to finally feast on this "dream" cake, and this cashier tells me that I have to come back at 3 pm since nobody was there to cook this special item. WTF?!? I told this girl that I just talked to someone on the phone prior to driving over here, but to no avail. I was furious, but stayed calm...and sure enough, I returned calmly at 3 pm. Then, ANOTHER Cashier tells me that I have to return at 5 pm since there STILL wasn't anyone to work up this special Souffle Pancake. O-M-G, I was just about to lose my cool when luckily, this lady that I talked on the phone happened to hear me...and told the Cashier to go tell them to go ahead and make these special items for me (both items!). So surely, it was completely possible...they just weren't willing until the boss lady asked them to do so. Again, WTF?!? I appreciated this lady for stepping up and honoring her word (over the phone)...but what was all this runaround service beforehand...of all the obstacles to get these cakes?!? Online ordering, special pick-up times, no-show cooks for the Souffle Pancake, etc. etc. So NO...I was NOT happy with their so-called service up to that point. Of course when the lady asked the cashiers/cooks to go ahead and do this for me, they hopped to it. Honestly, I was glad it worked out for me...but at the same time, I was quite ticked off. Again, what a monumental pain it was for me to get these treats! LOL?? OK, so I wrote a book lol. Let me now get to the Pros, and I'll make this part as short as possible (if that's possible?). SO...after much painstaking this and that, I finally ended up getting my "Japanese Souffle Pancake" AND the "Mille Crepe Cake" (both in Matcha Green Tea flavors)...and just WOW. Both were just breathtakingly DEEEEE-Lish. In fact, the Souffle Pancake almost had this other-worldly texture to it that was just too much (and Yes, it jiggled!)!! My only complaint here was that the Souffle Pancakes weren't as smooth, plump and pretty as the ones I've seen from NYC and LA...but I guess just the fact that this SLC eatery HAD them, I'll count my blessings. They added some fruits and whipped cream, along with the Matcha Green Tea syrup to add...and it definitely improved the aesthetics (and taste!). The Mille Crepe was also equally amazing. Though a tad creamier than I had hoped, but the crepe texture and the flavor were just amazing! BTW, I also tried their Vanilla Milk Tea with Boba...and it was just OK at most. In short, both Souffle Pancake and Crepe Cake were beyond delicious...but it sure was a royal pain getting them. If based strictly on the service I got prior to getting these cakes, I would rate this place a 1-2 stars, but the cakes themselves were 5-plus in my book (in terms of taste, but not as high in terms of presentation)...so guess that makes my experience here 3-4 stars? Amazing selection of desserts, but WHAT a PAIN. read more

They have TAIYAKI here and they have fillings inside! You can order Taiyaki with or without ice cream. We got ube and chocolate and both of them were good! They also have crepe cake too! My new favorite dessert place! (Note: they have parking in the back.) read more

Doki Doki is such a neat place! Came in to try their passion fruit crepe cake but only to find out they just ran out of it. We went ahead and tried their tiramisu, white chocolate raspberry, pistachio. Also tried their taiyakis and a couple of ombré drinks. They were all delicious! I went online the next night to order their 10 inches passion crepe cake for my fiancé's birthday and oh man, they were a hit!! I gave a huge portion away to a friend and we had more than a quarter left to eat a slice with espresso for breakfast three days. I would absolutely recommend their passion fruit crepe cake - you won't regret it (unless you don't like the flavor, you're missing out bro). read more
So innovative, so unique, and so inventive. Doki Doki is an Asian-inspired dessert cafe with a rotating menu of innovative creations. This cute little shop is run by the cutest little Vietnamese girl (Doki Doki is a city in Vietnam) and she takes old Asian recipes and adds an American fusion twist--and they are some of the more unique things you'll taste in Utah. I was especially impressed with their new Shibuya Honey Toast. This is not your mama's toast! Especially when you put a scoop of ice cream on top, I'm sold. I tried the Nuts About You honey toast: cinnamon honey toast, dark chocolate chantilly cream, candid walnuts, slivered almonds, a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate ganache whipped in, cookies (oreo and biscoff), and two chocolate covered strawberries. She has taken a traditional Japanese toast recipe and made it her own by using brioche instead of a tradition Japanese milk bread and soaking it in cinnamon and honey custard, then grilling it. It was like a thick, beautiful Japanese-American fusion French toast. I was also impressed with her crepe cakes. 20 layers of crapes filled with her creamy custard. I absolutely appreciate the fact that she keeps the seeds in her passion fruit crepe cake. You cannot experience passion fruit in its purity unless you eat the edible seeds as well. read more

Absolutely adore this spot! The food is amazing and the service is super friendly! The Anime paintings on the wall are super cute too! This is our favorite dessert place so far! Make sure you don't miss out on the fluffy pancakes which are by appointment only by booking through the website! Only bad part is finding parking but it's totally worth it! read more

I love to try new places, and was looking forward to trying Doki Doki! The desserts looked amazing, but the one I wanted to try the most was, which was the crepes, not what I expected. Staff was great, helpful, and friendly. I enjoyed the little cake cups, but was left wanting more from the Crepe Cakes. I love to cook crepes and make them for my family and friends to enjoy. These crepes were a little different, I would like to clarify for anyone reading this- this is my personal opinion based on knowing what traditional crepes taste and feel, and I don't want to deter anyone from trying them! Please try them you may like them. I would definitely try the cakes again, those were yummy! read more

If I could give 4.5 stars I would! This place is fun and unique and totally delicious, but it's a splurge! Luckily, you get a lot for what you pay for so it's easily split between two, or even three! If you're looking for a dessert that checks all the boxes, you'll find it here! -creamy -chocolatey -substantial -tangy -crunchy Definitely a place everyone should try at least once! read more

Kind of a let-down? We had heard a lot of good things about Doki Doki, so we decided to check it out. It was really busy when we got there, the wait was long, and seating was hard to come by. When it was our turn to order, we were told they were out of a lot of their menu options and only had one ice cream flavor available. When we got our food, the presentation was nice, but the ice cream tasted like cheap, watered-down gas station soft serve. We also got a crepe that wasn't anything special. Both items we ordered were pretty expensive for the quality of items we got. Maybe we came at the wrong time, but I'm not sure we'll be coming back. It was a cool experience, but the food was meh. read more

This place is incredible and I'm so glad we have something this amazing in Salt Lake City! We tried their Taiyaki waffles and their blossom dessert crepe which were OH MY GOD RUN DONT WALK THERE AMAZING! I also ordered a rainbow tiramisu crepe cake for a colleagues retirement party and I don't know what voodoo they use but it was melt in your mouth light, perfectly sweet (I don't like anything too sweet) and had the most delicious tiramisu flavor. Everyone who had the cake asked for their contact information. Seriously though, try them out! read more

Popped in for some dessert after dinner on a Sunday night and was surprised to see how popular and lively it was! I really liked the ambience and all the cute decor of this dessert shop. There's even a mini room with board games and lots of pillows, which would be really fun to lounge around and chill with friends when COVID is over. Doki Doki has a pretty extensive dessert menu, ranging from crepes, Japanese fluffy pancakes, drinks, taiyaki soft service, to crepe cakes -- all accessible for order via a QR code. My friend and I got the Berry Bunny rolled ice cream to share, which was super delicious, complemented with fresh berries that make you feel more healthy and less guilty when indulging in ice cream at 8PM. I really liked the smooth, creamy texture of the ice cream because I've had some really icy rolled ice cream before, and that's never pleasant. The tower spirals are also rolled super cute, which makes it even more fun to eat. All in all -- really happy to find an amazing dessert place and would def return to try more items on the menu with friends. Will def order the crepe cakes one day for a special event bc there's no Lady M in SLC and bc they look so gorgeous and delicious! read more
This place is seriously amazing. We have been to Japan and had the delicious treats there and these are soooo good. Just like the ones we tried in japan. We had a taiyaki and the fluffy pancakes. Both were so good. We cannot wait to come back. Service is incredible and they are so nice and kind. There is a wait for the fluffy pancakes but they make it very clear. Cute decor. We loved our taiyaki sundaes. The fish waffle with filling had a nice texture and flavor. The dulce de leche topping was really good. Warning for littles- the chocolate bear is actually a chocolate covered cinnamon gummy... my 6 year old did not like this surprise! The guy working here was super nice and answered my kids' many questions. They say he is their friend now. We will be back! read more
Had heard this place was one of the best Japanese dessert places in town, but I really didn't get the hype. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great either. Granted maybe I need to go back and try a few more items on their menu, but I mostly left the restaurant disappointed with my order. Food & Presentation I ordered the custard tayaki with the taro ice cream and biscoff cookie mix-in. The taro ice cream tasted good and the biscoff cookie was a great addition, but they really missed the mark with the tayaki. The tayaki is made open (which I have never seen before) and so, therefore, there isn't very much custard in it, and it's already pretty small, to begin with. Thinking that this was only due to the esthetics of the fish being in the ice cream I ordered two single taiyakis and they both were just as small and open as well. I also noticed when I got home that I had been overcharged and paid 14 bucks for 2 taiyakis when in reality 14 bucks would have gotten me 4 single taiyakis. The presentation though I will say is their saving grace. Having the fish be on top of and "eating" the ice cream was very creative. Vibe and Service The vibe of the restaurant is great, but nothing to brag about necessarily. I do love their decor and the little nook they have on the left-hand side so that people can eat on the floor. I also thought the area near the windows with sitting pillows was a good touch. The service was good! I'll have to go back and try some other items on the menu and update this review, but honestly, my first experience there doesn't really make me want to go back, unfortunately. read more

Doki Doki has seriously upped the asian dessert scene! We recently moved back to Utah after being gone for 3 years. Prior to moving, the asian dessert and drink scene was seriously lacking, especially in SLC. There were a couple of boba shops popping up, but not much. Fast forward 3 years and the food scene appears to have diversified much more. Doki Doki offers a variety of asian desserts including sweet crepes, crepe cake slices, Japanese fluffly pancakes, rolled ice cream, taiyaki soft serve, and of course boba drinks. The Japanese crepe cakes are made with 20 thin slices of crepe and are absolutely delightful. They offer 2 different flavors weekly, but also take custom orders as well. You can order a whole beautiful crepe cake! My favorite is the matcha crepe cake, which is something I haven't had since living in NYC. The matcha flavor is on point. The rolled ice cream is my husband's favorite hands down. Their rolled ice cream is much creamier than most rolled ice cream places and I love how they spiral the rolls up to make little towers. The rolled ice cream does take longer to make, but is well worth the wait. I'm a big fan of their rolled ice cream. Now onto the taiyaki... I was so thrilled to see that there is now taiyaki in Utah! Taiyaki is a fish shaped soft waffle cone, lined with a flavor of your choice, and pairs with soft serve ice cream. They change up their soft serve flavors weekly. I have had both the matcha and the cereal-infused milk flavor. I loooved the cereal infused milk flavor. So creamy and the perfect level of sweetness. My favorite drinks here are the ombre drinks. Not only are they pretty with the ombre color effects, but so refreshing! Whenever I am in Salt Lake I wanna swing by for a tea (the princess peach is so good). Ok, now onto fluffy pancakes! Fluffy pancakes can be difficult to find in even some larger cities. My friend ordered this once and I got to try a bite. Definitely worth trying out! Overall, Doki Doki is a super cute shop with delicious treats and different nook and crannies to sit in. The owners are very sweet and friendly. This is definitely my favorite dessert shop in Utah by far. Five stars for excellent asian desserts and kudos for taking the dessert game to a new level! read more

My overall experience here with very good. The desserts had amazing flavors and I especially loved the ube ice cream sundae. There was only one kiosk to order on, which made ordering a bit difficult. Because it was my first time being here, I had a couple questions to ask and with people waiting behind me to order on the one kiosk, it made it so I felt pressured to order quickly. If you had a question you could go up to the counter and ring the bell for someone to come and talk to you. Unfortunately, the situation just made it so I just didn't get everything I wanted, but I did get a lot of good desserts. read more

I love Japan desserts! This place does a great job at providing authentic Japanese style crepes, crepe cakes, and fluffy pancakes. The cakes was great. So light and fluffy, it's like eating a cloud! Flavor was not over the top and too sweet, literally just perfect!!! The crepes with berries was great, they drizzled honey on it which paired so well with the berries and cream. The fluffy pancakes had more of an "eggy" taste than I prefer. They are still cute though! 10/10 for very appealing display and presentation of their food. This is a great place to try when downtown in Salt Lake, they've got lots of comfortable seating to hang out. read more
So happy to have a Japanese dessert place in town! We went on a busy weekend and ordered pancakes, rolled ice cream, Berry tea and taiyaki ice cream. Everything tasted amazing except the fluffy pancakes were a bit undercook and my friends did not like it. It also takes 15 minutes of wait time for the pancakes to be made so you might want to plan for that if you're wanting to try it. I loved the Taiyaki ice cream, but if you don't like desserts to be too sweet (like me) just skip the crunch. The store has different special flavors for the week so you might want to check that out on their Instagram page before going. read more

Yes. There is plenty of parking behind (north of) the building. Take the driveway just past the building as you're driving west. Don't park in the small lot there, but keep going to the back. The lot is shared with Stoneground and Caffe D'Bolla…
