What we ordered: - Chicken Parm - Chicken cutlets, marinara and homemade fresh mozzarella - American Italian - Ham, Genoa salami, piccante provolone, lettuce, roasted peppers, served with red wine vinaigrette The sandwiches although pricey are large in size and very tasty. I loved this place. It's quite a distance from my home, but it seemed worth it. The deli employees are the best. Their sandwiches and macaroni salad are what I craved. The reason for the 2 stars is the cashier. She was rude, insulting, and made me feel uncomfortable. She was pleasant with the customer before me, so I did not feel apprehensive as I was next. I said hello and requested to use the rewards program with my phone number after signing up this afternoon. She did not greet me, and her response was short, saying she needed my order. I apologized and said it was next to her. She responded well, saying there were 2. I recognized my order because of the side of pesto. The other order was on the other counter, but I did not say anything. Then she proceeded to enter my phone number; however, it was not working. She repeated the number and tried again. She responded that it's not working and was snarky about how to sign up. Although I received an email confirming my enrollment, I said nevermind to continue to ring up the order and leave. Before I left, I heard her greet the customer behind me and ask for their phone number for the rewards program. Honestly, I was hurt and embarrassed. A great local Italian deli to pick up a myriad of prepared foods, baked goods, and specialty groceries. I can only speak for the baked goods, but everything I had was great. We ordered the biscotti, cannoli, rugelach, pignoli, and rainbow cookies, which came to about $50. A little pricey, but everything was fresh and the cannoli were made to order. The absolute highlight was the hot chicken sandwich with vodka sauce and mozzarella. Oh my God, there was nothing like this. I could have eaten this for four days straight. We also got a cold chicken cutlet sandwich with prosciutto and roasted red peppers that wasn't my favorite. I think just because I really preferred a Hot chicken sandwich. Rather than the chicken cutlet being cold. We also got a small container of the pesto, tortellini salad, that was good, but not worth the price for such a small portion having it go by weight was very hefty. The store also had lots of grocery items as well as prepared foods things you can heat up for dinner pasta. If we were from the area, we would definitely be going and grabbing more stuff, but we were just passing by as visitors. The service behind the counter was so nice so quick. Everyone working there was very nice and patient. Once they complete your sandwich or any personalized order, they have it sent over to the counter so you can pay and you can stroll around the store in the meantime. I like coming here, not just for the food and Italian products, but for the vibe as well. However, I'm not Italian and I didn't grow up in Jersey or even on this coast, so for me D&C is one of those places where no matter how nice and helpful the staff is (and they are), and no matter how often you've been there, you'll always feel like an outsider unless you've been coming here with your Nona since you were a kid. Outsider anxiety aside, they offer a wide variety of excellent sandwiches, and if looked at on their own, they'd be enough for five-star rating. Just be advised that unless you've got the a powerful metabolism and the appetite to match, you're going to have enough from one sandwich for a couple of lunches. They've also a good selection of antipasto dishes and various sides and main courses in their counters. You could easily pick up a few items and impress all your friends with your culinary prowess. They've also a wide selection of dried pastas from makers in the old-country, although the selection seemed a little broader in years past in both the variety of shapes offered and their makers, but if you're looking for a particular shape that you'd like to bathe in your delicious SAUCE, they're likely to have it. If you don't have a SAUCE of your own, they make one here that they're very proud of. Their house-made Italian sausages in the meats cooler are also very good, and I've used them on sandwiches or as an element in many a SAUCE of my own. For me, the only downside (outside of always being an outsider), is that the prices for the dried and preserved sausages, specialty meats and cheeses and the sweets in the attached sweets shop, all seem a little pricey. Maybe it's because I'm usually looking for products that are hard to find at the grocery store (whole guanciale, for example)? That said, the sandwiches are worth every penny. Being from NYC I was excited when an Italian deli/market opened in my new hometown of Robbinsville. Results of this place have been mixed to poor. But it's important to note that this place is highway robbery when compared to similar Italian Deli/Market style places in NYC. - Food is meh. Some things are good (fresh bread and some sandwiches), some things are poor (most of the prepared food have bland sauce, soggy pasta, and/or are just poorly executed.) - Service is non-existent. It takes forever to get something from the counter and checking out is a hilarious process. - Ambiance is generally nice but crowded. - Prices have become so HIGH they are silly and offensive because you know you are being taken advantage of. Why do I have to wait at the deli counter for 15 minutes to get fresh mozzarella? Weigh it after you wrap it and put a price sticker on it. Boom. Just saved labor behind the counter and customer wait times. Recently I bought: - a ball of Fresh Mozzarella ($19) - 1 box (10 pieces) of 7 layer cookies ($20) - 2 packages of Pappardelle Pasta ($9 each) - 2 loaves of fresh bread ($5 each) IT COST $67 !!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING? Same thing at a deli in NYC outer boroughs would cost $28. AND THEY CHARGE YOU $1.97 NON-CASH FEE AT CHECKOUT!! They are looking to gouge the customer at every chance they get. If the food and service were superb they could get away with overcharging some. But the food is not that good and they are not just overcharging, they think they exist in a theme park. Though busy, I never feel rushed shopping here and I truly appreciate the time spent learning about the regions and process for the products. I ended up falling for this beautiful organic Sicilian olive oil from Terranno. I went with their Decor bottle which was slightly more affordable for the same amount of oil as their signature ceramic bottle. I also selected the Cattani Olivewood Balsamic which is aged 8 years and finished in an olivewood barrel. The balsamic uses indigenous grapes from a vineyard in Modena, Italy. This is a fifth generation family owned and operated balsamic producer. As you walk into the store you enter surrounded by gianduja hazelnut chocolates. To the left you see a full bakery with Italian cookies and pastries. To the right you'll see a section of oils and vinegars. Panettone lines the back wall. I selected a delicious pear and dark chocolate for $17.99. There was an amazing chocolate and orange peel panettone at the tasting ($40). Beyond this is a prepared foods section. There's typically a line here, so I wander to the cheese and chocolate sections. Along one wall you'll see rows of fresh pasta and refrigerated sauces. Along another wall you'll see mortadella and prosciutto. This time of year there are several advent calendars and is an excellent place to pick up holiday gifts. This place is truly magical. They have Proscuitto bread loafs that are great for parties or gatherings, warm that bread up and put it out for an appetizer and see how fast it gets gobbled up. They have prepared foods galore, best hoagies in the Tri-state area, terrific bakery. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Even if you live over an hour away I would recommend coming here for the experience. My wife and I made the long drive from West Deptford to Robbinsville to try Dolce & Clemente's. We were not disappointed! It was well worth the drive. What an amazing selection of Italian specialties. We wanted to try one of everything! We settled the Made Guy (Roast Pork, broccoli rabe, sharp provolone and a Balsamic glaze); the shrimp parm and the Texas Tornado sandwiches. All were delicious. We purchased a few salads from the deli. And we took home Oreo mousse, cheesecake stuffed chocolate cupcakes and milk-chocolate dipped cannolis. Amazing! I wish we lived closer! I've given this place multiple chances, but they consistently mess up my sandwich order. On several occasions, they've either left out ingredients I specifically requested or added things I didn't want. It's frustrating to pay for something and not get what I ordered, especially when it happens repeatedly. It's clear there's a lack of attention to detail, and at this point, I can't justify coming back. There are plenty of other delis that actually get orders right. It was had the perfect amount of prosciutto in the middle and the bread was so soft and perfect. Also, my husband and I got the meatball sandwich with Italian sausages. We did not eat it fresh because when we go into the car we realized that it was going to be impossible to eat in the car because it was a messy sandwich so we had to eat it the next day. We put it in the oven and I am not kidding you when I say it was the best sub ever! I can't imagine how good it would have been if we ate it fresh, so now I need to go back and try it fresh. A-MAZ-ING authentic Italian grover. They have a large assortment of cheeses, sauces, coffees, oils, prepared foods, pastas... basically you name it, they have it. They even have Batilla pastina in stock. I found the coolest specialty cheeses to add to my meat and cheese board for Easter, including a lemon and honey cheese, a truffle gouda, and a strawberry and processor spread. I could not even check out the deli counter because the line extended into another room, but the smells were amazing. When I write reviews I take alot into account. One thing that really makes or breaks an establishment is customer service. I like this store. I like their products but after the disregard for me as a customer I won't come back but it won't matter to them because they make money hand over fist here. So busy. This review is for the average Joe. I ordered a cake for Christmas eve. When I placed my order I made sure to check if the specific cake I wanted could be accommodated and repeated my order back to Marie just for clarification on filling. Day of pick up I get the cake after waiting in the pick up line. It was boxed up, paid for and ready to go. I drive home (45 mins away) and cut the cake and it was the wrong cake. Called the store to find out the phones are off the hook for the day. I emailed and Facebook messaged( they saw this message) to no response. I call and leave a message on the answering machine and as of today no one has even addressed my issue. After having this spot on my to-visit list for a while, I finally made it down to this establishment. My girlfriend and I came on a Saturday afternoon, and we ordered a few items to try. Looking at all the reviews and pictures online, we believe we ordered the 3 most popular items from here. The first sandwich we tried was the pepperoni pink panther hero. This sandwich was amazing. It consisted of chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni; all on garlic bread. Having this sandwich while it was still warm was so good. We loved this one. Next, we tried their famous prosciutto bread. This bread was super loaded with meats and cheese on the inside. Every bite you take, you get lots of meat pieces; which is awesome. Just the way you want your prosciutto bread to be. Another amazing item here. And lastly, we had the Italian Special hero. This was my favorite one of the three. This one was loaded with so many different deli meats, I loved it. Containing prosciutto, soppressata, capocollo, mortadella, provolone, ham, homemade fresh mozzarella, it was delicious.
