Unprofessional!! I don't recommend getting an appointment at this salon. I had two appointments, and both were cancelled a day before I was supposed to go. I was also supposed to get a consultation appointment, and they never called, emailed, or texted me to schedule anything. They made me reschedule two days before the appointment, then asked to reschedule for the second time, and after I said I couldn't reschedule, they cancelled both of my appointments. They told me the stylist was going to be out and I was going to have to reschedule again. They didn't even have the curtesy to call. They don't respect the date and time you make the appointment, even though you make a deposit for that specific reason. read more

Awesome Things about Dolce Salon (in no particular order): - Dedicated Parking: easy and ample shopping center parking. Deal breaker for me...I don't care how acclaimed a salon professes to be, if parking takes unnecessarily long or is cumbersome (a la downtown) then no dice. - Location/Lack-of-ATX-Traffic-Tomfoolery: Despite my hair appointment ending during rush hour, it took me no time getting to my next appointment in S. Austin. - The Owner: One of the owners, Cris, styled my hair. I have straight virgin hair and gave up on dreams of ever sporting curls. She took time to educate me on how to create curls that lasts for days in under 2mins....and they actually did ((gobsmacked, thank you again Cris!)). - Manicurist, Tia: I pretty much want to be her friend because she's hysterical...and I didn't even get my nails done lol. Better to have a talented AND funny manicurist than a talented humanoid right? - Color Specialist, named Apple: I'm too chickenbleep to color my hair, but I had to stop and ask Apple about her own amazing hair color and health of her hair. I've seen a lot of colored hair at the expense of it's health. Also, apparently she can do a glow-haircolor (wuh-whatt??) - Heat Relief: I have thick, black Asian hair. Sure it's "nice to look at," but living in TX also means it's a challenge keeping cool for 9.78 months of the year. I've regularly had my hair thinned out by others and have always been happy in general, but when Cris did it, the end result was more...for lack of a better word, "styled." It continues to grow out more gracefully than previous thinnings from other place. - Ancillary Benefit: US Post Office, BoA ATM and Jack Brown Cleaners conveniently nearby...Yes, in a cliche fashion, I did indeed find myself in need of all three that day. I moved to Austin 5 years ago and have been looking for my "home" salon ever since- so glad I made my appointment with Virginia at Dolce. I drove out from the Lake Travis area for a consultation, and I could tell that she was very thoughtful, patient and professional. She had the perfect balance of listening to what I want, while also shared her professional opinion. When it came time for my cut and color appointment, she was meticulous. I have very fine, straight blonde hair...but I have a lot of it....and I was requesting a blunt bob. She never made me feel like it was an inconvenience to give me the cut (which I have definitely experienced in other salons) and she gave me that mirror to checkout the side and back angles no less than 5 times to make sure I was confident and happy with the cut. The color she suggested for the partial highlights and shadow roots was exactly what I didn't know I needed. I 100% recommend booking with Virginia. read more

Had a terrible experience honestly. Hair turned out fine but never told me about any up charges they were gonna add to my bill and it was double what I thought it was gonna be so be aware of that. All I wanted was highlights and they added a whole bunch of other things I did not want. I asked a receipt before I left he said he couldn't give me one and to call back and when I called to get it it had all of these charges that I didn't agree to. I have lived in Austin for almost 5 years; I have been highlighting my hair for the past 30. I had found a great stylist, but he moved. I have bounced between a few stylists in the ATX area and always left the salon feeling "meh". Unfortunately, with my last stylist, I made the mishap of mentioning that "I want to go a bit brighter" with my highlights and she bleached my hair into oblivion and caused a great deal of damage (hair falling out in clumps). I had never had such a bad experience in all the years of coloring my hair. I took to the internet to start researching salons (word of mouth had not worked well for me since moving to ATX, not sure why). I came upon Dolce's website and read the reviews and read about Cris, the owner. I made an appointment to have a consultation with Cris about how to proceed with my very damaged (and unsightly) hair at this point. Cris is very knowledgeable, patient and caring. I told her the hair care routine I had been using. She educated me on why that was NOT working for my current hair status. She suggested a hair care regime to help the health of my hair and get it "back on track"/healthy and to give my hair some time before coloring it again. Neither which I wanted to do, but she was SPOT ON with the repair hair care regime. So much, that my husband said "I don't care what you're spending on hair care products - it IS working (and it smells nice!)! After waiting the suggested amount of time for my hair to repair some, I went back to see Cris for my highly anticipated color correction. I did have trepidation about being with a new stylist and correcting my hair-debacle. When discussing color goals, Cris gently pushed back on me about what I thought I wanted. By this time, I could tell I was in FANTASTIC hands and to let her work her magic because this is obviously her profession and her passion. Cris not only helped improve the health of my hair, but she corrected the color and KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF! I have not felt that pretty walking out of a salon in my entire life. My husband and my three teenagers (hard to impress) were AMAZED. I will not let any other hairdresser touch my hair again (unless Cris recommends them!). I am still in shock at how much my expectations were exceeded today with Chris. She outdid herself on my hair and really took the time to get my hair exactly where I wanted it to be. All I did was show her one picture of what I'd like, and she absolutely nailed it. She cut my split ends and I can't even tell a length difference. Needed a 5 or 6 inch trim, so I tried out Dolce. Christopher was super nice and did a great job. However, I went in thinking it was going to be a $55 haircut (the website said $55 for shampoo, cut and blow dry), but when I went to check out, it ended up being $75, not including tip. The whole reason I went to Dolce in the first place was for the price. I didn't want to spend too much money for a simple trim. Next thing I know, Christopher starts curling my hair. I'm guessing that's what the extra $20 was for? He did not mention anything about an extra fee for that. If he would have mentioned that it was extra, I would have stopped him immediately, especially since I didn't actually ask for any sort of styling or curling. read more
