First the positives, this is a large restaurant that accommodated our party if 10. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, and the desserts were decent. Otherwise, this was a pretty terrible meal. The restaurant was so smokey from (?) burning cheese. The tomato sauce, artichokes and olives clearly came from a can. The pastas were decidedly uninspired. Overall, it was not worth the more than expected cost of the meal. read more

Sunday Brunch - third or fourth visit to Dolcetto - first brunch visit. While service was good and portions more than adequate we were quite amused by the fact that our request for an egg white scrambled egg was met with baffled stares and expression of incredulity. Our request was rebuffed and we had to settle for whatever pre-mixed egg concoction was in the larder. Cook needs to learn how to separate egg yolk from the white. read more

I've been to Dolcetto twice in the time its been open. The first was when they had just opened and I was singled out by a FOH manager for the way I was dressed after being seated. One of the more embarrassing feelings I've had. The second time was recently during the stage 2 Covid reopening on their patio. They screwed up our reservation booking it for the wrong day (despite confirming it by phone the day before our expected dining date). I wasn't impressed. I ordered the frittata special the second time (it was lunch) with accompanying salad. The frittata was overcooked and underseasoned, the salad's croutons were stale. I wasn't impressed. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. First time I went the food was really good. I ordered a margherita pizza to go, excellent the first time. The second time I ordered two margherita pizzas to go. I got home and opened the boxes. Both pizzas were over cooked. One was black from the bottom. Really disappointed. Edit: I called the restaurant and the owner sent me a gift card for 25$. Dolcetto is a clean, larg me traditional Italian restaurant. The parking lot was packed when we came for lunch. The manager showed us to our table and quickly got us a child seat and play strings for the kids. The service was quick and friendly. Complimentary house baked focaccia (great) with olive oil:balsamic (too acidic) They have a small lunch menu with combo salads included. The salads are fresh, and the dressings are high quality. The pasta and pizza are amazing - but traditional. If you like heavy - fatty American pizza and pasta, this might be a change. The pizza is light and crisp. Great crust, good sauce, and good quality cheese. Pasta is good quality from Italy, pasta sauce is savoury, well seasoned. Meatballs (kids) are a tad Spivey for children. Huge wine selection, open kitchen that looked very clean. read more

Went here recently for a family birthday dinner and had a lovely meal. We were there fairly early on a Sunday evening so I cannot comment on some of the complaints that the restaurant is too loud. There were not many people there yet when we went. Our server was excellent attentive and was able to modify some orders for us at our request. We ordered 6 different pizzas to share and some salads. The pizzas were delicious. The crust was perfectly done. My favourite was the pear walnut honey pizza with white sauce (I forget it's name). I found the food on the menu affordable (you always overpay for Italian food because it's so cheap to make yourself but this was very reasonable). The food was authentic and the decor and ambience were great. Not pretentious and not too casual. I would go again. read more

Well let's start off with this, I should of brought an ATM machine with me to the restaurant...our waitress was very new and shy as she didn't understand the menu or specials....I think the wine was imported from the palace of some prince from Saudi Arabia as I was shocked at what a glass of red wine was....19 dollars no not for the bottle like I said a glass...I wish the menu was English as I couldn't understand what the selection were...I had the pasta that seemed rubbery when chewing and the sauce was bland I mean tasteless. TERRIBLE! The place looks nice but the food is completely disgusting. Every plate was terrible, some were salty others with no flavor. Really bad and expensive. But the WORST thing was a Hair in the pizza. Of course we let them know, and we will never come back. read more

SInce I live close by I have been going here since it opened. In the early days I found it hit and miss with a few bad experiences. But in the past year I have found a great improvement and we have been regulars recently. The food is much improved and the service has been great. Some of my Toronto business associates have picked up on it as well and go there when in town. read more

Dolcetto's has been a go-to restaurant for us for a few years. We enjoy the food and typically experience great service. Our most recent visit was a little different. It all stemmed from the server. Chris B. inserted himself in our conversations a bit too frequently. It seemed as though that our table was his last priority. Our drinks took over 30 minutes to be delivered, he needed to be prompted to bring bread and to take our dinner order. Overall, we found that our server was unprofessional. We felt as though that he did not take any action to improve our experience. Our food was very good, as always - it was just our service that left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

They don't normally do deliveries but they helped me create what sounds like an amazing dinner for my friend AND the owner is delivering it personally. Now... So disappointed with our visit. Having just recently moved here from Toronto, we were hoping that this would end up being our Italian spot, but we were so underwhelmed. -20 minutes for our drinks -The marinara in the spaghetti and meatballs was watery and tasted like the cheapest jar of sauce that you buy on sale at the grocery store. It was also sitting in the kitchen window for awhile (I could tell by the plate being scorching hot having worked in restaurants myself a number of years) -Pizza was soft in the center and the rapini on it was awful -After our terrible meals we waited far too long to pay our bill -The restaurant was also SO LOUD... not a quiet place for a meal if that's what you're looking for -When we asked our server if it was normally this busy she said it's usually busier, which just tells us that comes along with far worse service -We would much rather pay $30 more overall and go to Abruzzi any day! read more

Maybe trying my first visit at Dolcetto on a Saturday was not a good idea since it was busy. Everything I ordered was potentially a good dish but they fell short on flavour. I started with the calamari salad which was bland- only slightly salvaged by pickled onions to counter the heavy amount of olive oil. The main was the "fish of the day" which was crab cakes on a bed of salad which had too much raw julienned cabbage and again lacked flavor and the crab cakes just fell apart into tiny flakes that I couldn't even taste the crab. The waitress was pleasant but did not replace my water because of a tiny bug in the glass until 15 minutes later I asked another waitress to do it. And bringing a wedge of lemon for my fish arrived when I finished eating. And lastly, I decided to order the cannoli which did not taste good. I thought the flavor was comparable to bad ricotta. The restaurant is beautiful and had a great patio and atmosphere. I might return to just grab a drink. read more

Lovely dining experience. We've eaten here twice and some of the dishes were ok, but then I had the meatball appetizer... wow. They were fat and fabulous. Made probably with milk and bread like one of my home recipes. Add to that their delicious red sauce and I'm ready to go back and try them with pasta next time. The bruchetta is quite nice. I had the lamb ragu which I found heavy and oily but the wide egg noodles tasted homemade. Another plus is the freshness of the radiccio in the salad. Service was attentive but not overly so. My only complaint would be the level of noise which made it hard to talk and the chairs were hard. The décor and ambience was fresh though. A bit pricey especially the wine. read more

This used to be our absolute favourite restaurant. The owner/manager is so friendly and always remembers us. We have come here since it opened. However, the last two times we have gone we made reservations only to be left standing, no place to wait and only told "we are really busy" just wait for us. We drive almost an hour one way to get here. We made a reservation to be guaranteed a spot and then we are stuck standing in a cold doorway or crowded server area to wait for a table we were told we would have? Horrible service. This restaurant has fantastic Italian fare. We tried samples of most of the major dishes. I loved the Lasagna, the Chicken Napolitana and the Canolies. We have absolutely no complaints. The owner of the restaurant personally delivered our order to our house! And he would have had to drive from one end of London to the other. This was at the request of a friend of ours in Texas. We were there yesterday for the "Buck-a-Shuck Oysters" In order to get them for a buck a piece, you have to sit at the bar. Keep in mind this was our first, and last visit there. When we arrived the hostess greeted us in a friendly manner. We stated that we wanted seats on the bar side to enjoy the oysters and, requested a table that was not cleaned yet from the last guests. NO PROBLEM! We could wait. Well, instead of cleaning the table and seating us, the hostess proceeded to seat incoming guests. Leaving us standing awkwardly in the lobby, shuffling around guests entering. That made us feel not welcomed. Their slogan is "It's Experience Feeling welcome in a friendly, warm and exciting place that shares the passion for great food." She seated 5 sets of guests while we stood in the way. This continued for several minutes! My husband wanted to leave immediately (I should have listened to him. But, a co-worker recommended this restaurant because its amazing, so I wanted to stay) It wasnt busy, and there were many tables available. When we finally got seated, it took for EVER to place an order for drinks and oysters. We noticed that guests that were seated after we had arrive being service food prior to us getting a NON COOKED meal. When my husband and I wanted another round of drinks and more oysters, we waiting so long to be helped, that I was forced to move our empties and finished plate to the bar in order to be noticed. The service is as great as the food here. Pizzas are amazing, flat bread, authentic Italian and there are always new and seasonal features for people like me who visit the restaurant often! Aesthetically nice, food sucked. Went with a party of four, ordered muscles and they were gummy and not a great sauce. My entree was a squash filled ravioli of sorts and it was super greasy and overcooked on the outside making it hard to chew. No one elses dish looked that much better than mine and I noticed no one fished their dish (maybe they were full). Didn't say anything at the time b/c we didnt pick the restaurant but neither my wife nor I thought it was very good...and we aren't that picky. Go for drinks b/c its a nice looking place but skip on the food. read more

There is something that irks me about this restaurant. I have narrowed most of it down to the physical layout -- and this could certainly be a personal preference, however I find it loud to the point of not being enjoyable. I also find the bar placement awkward and unwelcoming. On the few occasions that I have dined here, I found that the waitstaff wasn't overly comfortable with the wine offerings or the menu -- almost as if they weren't completely confident concerning ingredients, cooking methods, personal likes and dislikes and wine pairings or availability. read more
