She took extremely long with everything and slow as heck. My husband did the online check in which was a waste of time bc they basically go over everything again. I arrived with a confirmed reservation and a credit card--two things that, in a functioning rental car system, should be enough to, you know, get a car. But the card had my business name on it instead of my personal one, and that was apparently an unforgivable offense. No car for me. I offered up two backup cards--Cash App (understandable, they said no) and Chime (less understandable, and starting to feel a little predatory). They refused both. I have the full insurance, that covers all kind of damage, anyway. I return the car, the guy starts looking through all the car and says to me that there are so many damages, but I should not worry because I have the insurance that covers them In half an hour I receive a report of damages on my e-mail, which supposedly I have signed and I agree (they lie, I have not signed anything and obviously I don't agree with the report), where there are several damages. I have also read so many reviews on internet about your office at Love Field airport and they say you try to cheat on them trying to impute them charges like you mean to with me. The car had already the damage when pick up. I have pictures that show the damage was already in the vehicle at the moment of pick-up. I made the mistake of renting a car through Dollar via Priceline for a recent trip to Atlanta. The car I had prepaid was not available resulting in a wait at the rental counter. After I dropped the car off with a full tank of gas AND receiving my final receipt showing $0 due, they mysteriously added s $108 charge on my credit card. Weeks later they mailed me a letter that they had to add 10 gallons to the tank- thus the charge. It's impossible to actually speak to anyone to discuss a dispute snd their paperwork says you must have a copy of the gas fill receipt. Who keeps a receipt weeks after? Why can I not give negative stars? This place is a scam. I would rather hitchhike naked in the blazing Dallas sun at midday than deal with these deceptive, uncaring, unhelpful, lying jerks. Part 1, the set up. I made a reservation two days in advance. Flight goes smoothly and I get to Dollar rent-a-car line. It's about 20 yards long. A half hour into my wait to get to the counter, a man yells to the line, which has now extended to the door of the terminal about 50 yards long, that not only are they sold out of cars but if you reserved a car within the last 24 hours, they don't have it. You can see where this is going. One hour after I got in line. I presented my paperwork with my reservation at the counter. Part 2 the lies, I reserved through Expedia. I had to put down a $200 deposit. The attendant said on top of my deposit it's a $200 hold. Then changed his story and said that it's a $500 hold because we booked through Expedia. I asked where it said that. He said on the website. I said, fine, my hotel is 30 min away. I'm stuck. Let's do it. Then he informed me that he could not rent to me because of my credit score? What? I never consented to a credit check, he didn't have my social security number, and I have very good credit. (Lies, lies and more lies) I asked to talk to a manager. He claimed there were no managers available. (More lies) I was proud of myself for not flipping out. Part 3 the conclusion. This place is a total scam! Do not use them. DOLLAR CAR RENTAL EXPERIENCE: CAN I GIVE THEM NEGATIVE STARS? I recently picked up a car from Dollar at the DFW airport. The rental was done online with an estimated price for the 07/12/24 at 8 PM --07/17/24 at 7AM rental of $360.31. The car was returned on 07/16/24 at 15:41 PM which was 15 hours and 19 minutes "early". The emailed receipt for the rental was for $1,341.70. At the DFW Dollar rental desk, I was told by three different supervisors that the increased charge was because the car was turned in "early", even though Dollar's paperwork states: "Rental rate subject to increase if you return car more than 24 hours before or 24 hours after scheduled return time." Despite the return clearly being in compliance with their policy, no one at the rental desk would help me. I filed an online complaint that evening and provided copies of paperwork demonstrating the vehicle had been appropriately returned. The response I received from Dollar made no mention of the car being returned "early". Suddenly, that was no longer a problem. The increased price was now due to the fact that we had "reserved" a B4 class vehicle, but "accepted" a B5 class vehicle. The problem with that explanation is that the paperwork we received when we picked the car up states that the car we "accepted" was, in fact, a B4 class vehicle. However, the final receipt paperwork, used to justify the exorbitant increase in price, states the car is a B5 class vehicle. As a consumer, I'm pretty sure a car that's a B4 class vehicle the day I rent it, should still be a B4 class vehicle four days later, and my final bill should be calculated accordingly. My original estimated rental rate was $37.53/day. The rate on my final receipt was $283.24/day. The employee who responded to my complaint had the unmitigated gall to state "Please be assured that the most economical rate has been applied." Selected to do pre-paid fuel, but specifically asked the lady working behind the counter if it was for a full tank or half tank and she just said you just get charged for whatever you use. The rep didn't review any of the charges with me but just told me to sign, which shame on me I should have asked about. I drove a total of 94 miles, which is maybe 4 gallons of gas if that and am getting hit with a $50+ gas charge in Texas. Customer support has been terrible and not helpful at all. We were charged an additional $15 per day to add me as a driver. Generally the spouse is added automatically and never been charged. This was an additional $180 we hadn't counted on. The car rental was higher anyways due to COVID so $2300 later we walked out to a filthy truck. It smelled of cigarettes and hadn't been cleaned. My family and I rented a van from Dollar Car Rental on 6/5/2020 to drive a vehicle from Dallas to Tuscon to avoid flying because of COVID fears. We spent $308 dollars to drive one of the filthiest vehicles I have ever rented. We were told that the vans were in the back lot and to go pick the one we want. Because of COVID, they mentioned that we cannot open every car but that we shouldn't worry because each car was superbly cleaned. They have added seals to each of the driver's side of the vehicles, so out of concern and respect we did not look at every car and rather settled on the first vehicle. As we were examining our vehicle, we realized that the state of the car was absolutely filthy. The car had white marks all over the seats, dust everywhere, and every cup holder in the car were filled with gunk. (Please reference the pictures). We were told that each of the cars were cleaned to a higher standard because of COVID and each car had a "seal" of approved cleanliness standards. We went back inside, and asked the staff and they were not willing to help us in anyway. They kept saying that since we broke the seal that we had to take that vehicle. We were finally fed up and cleaned the car ourselves since we needed to keep our timeline. Literally, we spent 2 hours at the location, from our initial interaction with the staff to finally when we finished cleaning and exited. I reserved a vehicle through a travel agent using Expedia and was told the price included all taxes and fees, which was provided in writing via confirmation email, which stated "The total price includes all mandatory taxes and fees." When I arrived to pick up the car, I was advised there was another $135.90 in taxes and fees owed as well as a deposit (which I've never paid/ had reserved with Enterprise before). Deposit is refundable, fine, ties up a couple hundred bucks on my credit card, not great but I'll deal. I involved my agent about the $135.90 taxes and fees who then got pushed back and forth between Dollar and Expedia and no resolution was received. I would have been fine with the pricing had it been disclosed up front, but instead, this behavior is dishonest at best. The car itself was fine, if filthy on the outside and out of washer fluid (I bought some, it was $3 and I would have shrugged it off had I not been upcharged at the last minute). The wait to leave the garage after 30+ minutes of trying to get checked in was ridiculous. Really unhappy with the experience overall, though the in-person staff was great and deserves praise for handling the issue as best they could. read more

At first I was upset but the car was shit and needed maintenance when I got it. If I were to guess, the car was in a previous accident and they bought it for cheap. If you are renting a car from Dollar because you...need a car, they are not reliable, even with a reservation. I made a reservation for a vehicle to be picked up from the airport when we landed in Moline, IL in order to get to my parents' house - as a surprise - and who live over an hour away from the airport. When my husband and I landed in Moline at 9:50pm no one was at the counter to rent us our car, despite having a reservation AND their hours being listed as open until 10:30. Nearby agents confirmed the employee had already left for the day. The customer service phone number took us through an automated menu without any options that matched our situation, so we found ourselves having to "chat" with a representative on Facebook messenger. The only option they could provide for us was to come back the next day when they open again (which was ridiculous since we were staying over an hour away and the whole point of the rental was to get out of Moline). We asked if they would pay for our hotel in order for us to do so and they declined and then ghosted us in the chat. They made no effort to make things right, apologize, or acknowledge the mistake. And several customers came though that evening with similar issues and frustrations, so it definitely wasn't a situation where we made a booking mistake or one customer slipped through the cracks. Unfortunately, Dollar has lost my trust that my reservation will stand upon arrival, so I do not feel comfortable reserving with them again. read more

Turns out I had incurred 10 dollars worth of toll charges and Dollar charged me an extra 75 dollars for "processing fees," (15 dollars per every toll charge). Was in town to move our kid into UNT so we needed a car. We screwed up our reservation but Dollar took care of us and luckily had the right sized car for us. Ford Escape I think. Nice enough car for what we needed. Quick, held 3 adults no problem, pretty good on gas. Turning the car in was the problem. Guy outside checks the car in with a tablet or whatever, gives us our receipt and it's suddenly almost $150 more than what we signed up for. My contract when I picked up said $35/day. Dropped the car off 3 1/2 hours earlier than we said we would and suddenly it was $65/day. Wow. Go in the office and get some story about how if you turn the car in early, they charge whatever the daily rate is, not whatever you agreed to. She was polite and everything, but the story about the contract rate vs the daily rate just sounds like total bullshit. I've rented a lot of cars between personal and business and I've *never* been charged extra for turning a car in early. Stands to reason if I turn it in early, they can turn it around early and make more money off the car. I could understand changing the rate if I turn it in days early, but a few hours? crazy. The address they give out, 3377 Edwards Ave., is for the maintenance facility, where you cannot return the car. I rented a car from them in San Francisco. I had a full size reserved and we were "upgraded" to an SUV, a Grand Cherokee. The SUV was five years old and had 60,000 miles on it. On the way back to the airport, we heard a noise that sounded like a flat tire. We got off the freeway, the car started shaking, and we pulled into a gas station. On the left rear tire, four of the wheel studs had been sheared off and only one lug nut was holding the wheel on. If we had driven even a few more seconds, the entire wheel would have fallen off. Obviously, someone had only hand tightened the lug nuts and sent the car out. We called the roadside help line and they said they would send a wrecker. We had to Uber to the airport to make our flights. Today, I got my bill and it was over double the agreed amount. Late fees, a charge for premium roadside assistance, hundreds of dollars of fees. You would think that a company that rented us a very dangerous, defective car would take the slightest bit of responsibility, but you would be wrong. Still fighting with them over the bill. Two check-in staff and a line of 10+ guests means a sizable wait. Very glad we weren't in a rush to be on time somewhere, but heads up of you are! One star for not saying there was a $100 debit to your card that's held until the car is returned until after we arrived. If you don't have a credit card you'll need to front the extra $100 PLUS they run a credit check on debit cards. We plan to buy a home soon, so that was not cool. One star for trying to upsell a completely unnecessary toll tag with scare tactics on how you cannot get around town without one (completely untrue, we got around just fine without it and were happy we skipped the $50 upgrade charge). When we picked up the car I asked if I can change the drop off time, which I tried to do online with not luck, and I was told no by Karen, we would have to pay for another day if dropped off later than 2:00 pm, which I was not going to do. The airlines changed our flight for a later one and so we dropped off the rental before 2:00 pm and had to wait at Love field for 4 hours. This location is pretty bare bones compared to others in terms of car selection. I had pre-reserved a "mid-size" vehicle and upon arrival the only ones to choose from were a Chevy Cruve or Hyundai Elantra. I chose the Elantra and damn it was old! It had over 49K miles on it and the rear bumper was laden with scratches! At least it drove fine and got good gas mileage which is something I'm not used to. Dollar Express was pretty quick here though and I was able to choose a car and drive away as soon as I got off the shuttle. I highly recommend signing up for Express membership if you plan to rent regularly with Dollar. It's free and you just have to enter your credit card info and preferences on your account and it'll auto charge you on the day of pick-up using all the preferences you pre-select such as insurance, add-ons, etc. That way no one needs to ask you anything and you're in and out with your car without any wasted time. Returning the car was pretty easy too, once we found the place. It's hidden behind all the other car rental companies and is the only one without any signage so it took a little circling around to locate their lot. Upon arrival, the guy did his inspection while I was unloading my luggage. I was given a printed receipt and the shuttle was already waiting to take us back to the terminal. I guess there was a little confusion with my rental return because I got an automated call a few days later from Dollar saying that I hadn't returned the car. I called them back immediately and upon a 2nd look in their system they found that this was a mistake and the vehicle was indeed sitting on their lot. This was a little weird and caused me some brief panic but luckily it was just a computer glitch! read more
