Recently rented a car from Avis at Dallas Love Field and the experience was decent. The rental counters are near baggage claim and this was the least successful part of my experience, only because of the line and then the gentleman behind the counter that we began dealing with. Luckily a peer came back and took over, and he was delightful and friendly. Once we were processed inside we headed out to the shuttle that carried us to the car lot. The shuttle takes you to your exact spot, which was nice. With the rental, we added the gas package, which I recommend. You can return on empty and not have to worry about it. There are not too many convenient gas stations near DAL, so the convenience is worth it in my opinion. Return was easy as well. Pulled into the lot, they scanned what they needed, then we hopped back on the shuttle that carried us to the terminals. Overall, decent experience. read more

I'm a Presidents Club member and showed my complimentary upgrade options in the Avis app to the black gentleman with short hair who assisted me. He specifically told me the app gives more options than the counter and to select whatever I wanted because that's what I was entitled to. I selected a Ford Expedition and it was approved. When I was leaving the rental car facility at the exit gate, the manager literally ran up, stopped me in traffic with other cars behind me, and told me I could not take the vehicle. They revoked the approved complimentary upgrade on the spot with no explanation or apology. This was chaotic, embarrassing, and completely unacceptable for a loyalty customer. Stopping traffic to take back a confirmed benefit is beyond unprofessional. Elite status clearly means nothing at this location. I will never rent from here again. read more

Car tire pressure light came on so filled it at discount tire. Returned it then they charged me $50 for damaging the tire that was clearly damaged when I got it and $30 administration fee. Called customer service and they said since I didn't call when I put the air in them it became my fault. Terrible customer service! Never renting from them again. read more

I flew into Dallas at 10:30pm and went to the Avis counter to pick up the car I had scheduled and paid for in full. The very inappropriately dressed woman at the counter was very rude to anyone what was white. When she called for me to come to her desk, I gave her my DL and CC. She started to ask about purchasing their insurance and I said no (because my personal covers rentals). That is when her attitude got worse. I recently have gotten married and it took 4 months to get my DL changed due to long appt waits. My CC still had my maiden name on it, and then she started refusing to give me the car because of that. Even though I had the card, I paid in full with 6 weeks ago. I have never encountered this problem thus far. She left me stranded in Dallas at now midnight. Thankfully a lovely man from Enterprise/ Alamo heard my situation and told me to come with him to their stand. His worker got me in a car immediately and confirmed name changes happen all the time, that there should have been no issues for me to begin with. He saved the day! This lady working for AVIS should not be in a customer facing role. I have now talked to AVIS customer support to get my money back, and they confirmed at well, that she should not have done that and apologized over and over. Do not use this location. People waiting in line for hours and the staff is unacceptable. If you are flying into Love Field and need a car, use Enterprise/ Alamo. Their rates were cheaper (even paying the second I needed the vehicle). read more

Super long line at the airport for AVIS, Dallas Love Field Airport, waited 55 minutes on 6/27/26 . We had a prepaid voucher , the agent said there were no Full Size cars available, asked if we wanted an electric car and answered no , she then said my husband's License came out "yellow" in their system with 360 id and said couldn't rent a car with them, even if we had rented with them more than a dozen times before . I asked her to pass the license again thru the system and she said she is only allowed to pass it once and gave us no options . I googled our situation and found out they can do a manual override, check against a valid government issued id , like a passport and we should be able to rent a car . So I went to a different agent and he said "no problem , everything is ok ", offered an SUV upgrade and we left . The SUV Windshield was dirty with sticky bugs residue all over , poor inside cleaning . read more

I continue to have really bad rental experiences at Avis and this one in particular. During this particular rental, I received the text with my spot number and the shuttle driver was kind enough to take me to the space. But there was no vehicle in or even near the space. He directed me to the main office, which I looked into but there was a line. So I walked across the parking lot to the Preferred counter (I do have status with Avis). The woman in the booth assigned me a new space. I walk towards that space and see that a couple is already inside of that vehicle. So I go back to the counter again and she assigns me a vehicle that we can both visually see in a space. I go through my normal process of wiping everything down with a sanitizing wipe (the cars are filthy, by the way, and National provides wipes in their vehicles). Then I turn on the car and see that "Vehicle Maintenance Required" is showing on the display. I find someone who tells me that it likely just wasn't reset after an oil change. She offers to confirm and that process takes about 15 minutes. Then she comes and resets it and I'm finally able to head to the exit. The car in front of me at the exit isn't able to get out and there is nobody in the booth. He walks to go find someone and then about 4-5 minutes later someone arrives to help him get out. Then my QR code doesn't work and the guy says they keep having issues with it (which has also been my experience). So I have to show my ID, etc. to be let out. I was literally at Avis for an HOUR overall. I notice that the car rides rough on day 2 and see that the tire pressure is way off on one tire, but just overall it just felt like the car did not respond well to any variations in the road surface - surprising for a Camry. But maybe it's just an older model (since it literally needed a key to start...which even surprised the attendant when I returned the car). STRAIGHT RIP-OFF, didn't have the vehicle I booked so they tried to give me a basic car when I rented a premium vehicle. The extra add ons are a SCAM, it adds so much at the end that it's almost the same price as renting a Porsche in Turo. Definetly OVERBOOKED. The women in the counter didn't even know what she was doing, kept asking everyone else how to do a booking. Left without a car at the end. Rather spend my money on a worthy rental. read more

Usually a national/enterprise customer. Booked too late and had no cars. Regrettably had to book with Avis. The line to get your car is about 30 deep, and the 2-3 workers inside are moving at the same pace as the spreading out of Pangea. Cars aren't great and never had such a bad rental experience. National and enterprise should encourage people to rent with Avis - give up one rental and gain a lifetime loyal customer after this experience. Next time I'd rather go to the dmv for faster service. read more

Still waiting after 45 minutes! Granted it's Saturday, only 2 counter reps, Avis app is not up to date and lines are out the door! Typically our car is waiting for us via the app. Van driver said even if you check in at the airport they would send to the offsite facility without assigning you a car....Come on Avis get your shizz together! read more

Here's a strong and direct review: Absolutely Horrible Experience - Zero Compassion and Unprofessional Staff I have never encountered such rudeness, nastiness, and outright cowardice from a business like I did at Avis Rental Car in Dallas. The staff here, particularly Tanisha at the customer service station, was condescending, dismissive, and showed absolutely no empathy. I arrived with a broken foot, clearly in deep pain, and needed assistance--yet their entire team acted as if my situation was an inconvenience. No courtesy, no professionalism, just attitude and hostility. The management at this location seems to train their employees to be as unhelpful and unpleasant as possible. It's beyond disheartening to see such lack of basic human decency, especially toward someone who genuinely needed help. Because of this appalling experience, I will NEVER rent from Avis again. This is for the DFW location. Absolutely awful. Arrived on Friday night October 17 to pick up my reserved vehicle. It was not ready. I had to wait an hour at midnight for them to find me a vehicle, a Honda truck. Not what I wanted but it was that or nothing. Terrible service. So I go to return it Sunday evening and as always I took a picture of the keys on the dashboard and the printer as proof I returned it because of course there is no one there to check it in. So a few days later I get an email from Los's Prevention asking where is the Hyundai that I got??? What?? So I called the non-English speaking CSR who cannot identity the Honda truck they gave me or the Hyundai. No record at all! Oh they will check into it and I'll hear from them in 5-7 business days. But wait - the next DAY they send me and email with a bill for $3200 for the rental of the Hyundai from Dallas to Ft Lauderdale!!! And they charged my Credit Card!!! I'm going to the district attorney. This is FRAUD!!! read more

After a very long wait they didn't even have the car we reserved, and we didn't get the refund we deserved. Lady at counter seemed incredibly overwhelmed. I would not recommend this rental place to anyone. My recommendations for company would be to be better staffed and have the cars your customers are expecting. read more

Slow service. With about 6 folks waiting and 3-5 clerks, it took about 30 mins to get a car. Conversely, when I got my reservation and was doing the paperwork to get the car, the cc machine wants a pin. It was declined because there is no pin for the CC. The clerk, rather than trying to work the problem or get the supervisor involved when asked, was combative. The supervisor was able to get the problem solved. All in all, the supervisor was good but the general employees are slow and low-grade. Cheap costs = cheap quality and low service. Overall, it was 90 minutes from walking in the door to getting in the car. read more

A little bit of a mix up when picking up the vehicle. The lot attendenat gave a spot number that didn't exist. When the attendant finally gave an existing space number the wrong car was in the spot. Had to go back into the office and resolve the issue. The lot attendant then said it wasn't ready. Not sure what her issue was. Then had to wait for the car an additional 20 minutes. It came to me dripping wet. All my luggage and the clothes I was wearing got wet. This is the part that really upsets me. When I got to my destination, I noticed the two tires on the passenger side were very warn and unsafe. How can you guys jeopardize your customers safety like this???? Not happy with this at all! If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Had a reservation code, pre-paid, pre-entered all information on line. Stood on line at the airport for 30 minutes and still waiting. One of the employees said, if you have all your information, get on the shuttle, It will be faster. Got to the lot location and there is a longer line than at the airport. Moving very slowly. Typical Avis is absolutely abysmal customer service. I sure wish my employer would change us back to National who really understands customer service. No matter where you go to an Avis counter, anywhere in the country, it's the same terrible experience. LA, Dallas, Denver, Panama City, DC- just doesn't matter. I'm giving this rental car service a 5 star just because of Tavia. I was not able to bring the same credit card that I used to reserve the car online, so unfortunately, she couldn't confirm my reservation and had to cancel it altogether. However, Tavia booked a completely new reservation for me, but she applied the discounts that I was able to avail online prior. On top of that, she was able to keep the rates as close as possible to the one I originally booked. She also made sure that the canceled reservation has complete notations, so they won't give me a hard time requesting a refund. I was also able to drive a luxury SUV instead of a regular one with the upgrade that she provided. The only mistep was she forgot to change the drop-off point to a different airport, but it's still not a big deal anymore at this point because of all the help she previously arranged for me. I also wanted to acknowledge the lady checking out the cars at the gate at the time I picked up the car on January 6, 2024. I didn't catch her name, but she's very sweet as well and very willing to assist. read more

I imagine this is so you give up and just agree to all the add-ons they are trying to sell you. The car was very dirty and reeks of cigarettes. I'm done renting from Avis. They are such an untrustworthy company. I rented a car for the day because I was in a bind and Avis tried to rip me off. I picked up the car and as soon as I left the lot, I realized the gas was not full. I snapped a picture of the tank as proof that the gas was not full. When I returned the car that same evening, I returned it with the same amount of gas. I looked at my credit card charges and realized they charged me almost $98 for gas! This is the same stunt they pulled when I rented with them in Honolulu. I guess shady business practice is company wide and not just isolated to each location. read more

I was hoping my poor review would help this location get their act together, but seeing as I am the 135th 1-star review I'm no longer hopeful. I wish I could give you ZERO STARS!! This was an exceptionally terrible customer experience. Where do I start??! When I arrived 10a on a Saturday morning, there is no "member lane" to get in and out. I waited for OVER AN HOUR just to get to the counter and found out they don't have enough people to make cars ready. They were making customers just wait until they had a car to put them in. No complementary upgrade just to get customers on their way, no discounts to ease frustrations, and no acknowledgment AT ALL of what the problem was. Several people went to the lot and came back in because the space number assigned was not the car they reserved. These people were totally incompetent. It was suggested to one customer who reserved a standard SUV to take an intermediate....without a proposed price adjustment!! When I finally got my SUV it was vacuumed but that about it. The seats were sticky, windows dirty and smelled like old cigarette smoke. One of the tires was low and I aired it up at a tire shop. When I returned the vehicle there was no one there to check me in. I asked two guys walking by and they said "I dont know where they are. Just leave the keys in and you'll get an email receipt." If I had any trust it would be done right, maybe I would, but instead I walked around to find the person (who was sitting in a car) to check me in. Pitiful. Disgusting. Embarrassing to the Avis brand. Your company obviously could care less so I will make sure Avis corporate gets this message and I will tell as many people as possible to rent from National at Love Field. Very disorganized. There was a long line at the airport counter location. Luckily I am a "Preferred" member, so I went straight to the rental location taking the shuttle. Shuttle service was nice and efficient... and that was about the only good thing (well, the lady at the Preferred counter was nice). There was one person working at the Avis side, but I had positioned myself at the shuttle so I was first in line (this saved me about 10-15 mins). Did not have the car I reserved. I reserved a large sedan, but only had a huge Jeep Wrangler and Minivans around. There was some communication about an intermediate size sedan available, but they would not give me a discount although it would be a downgrade (since they offered "upgrade" that I did not want). Decided to take the smaller car, but in the span of 30 seconds discussing the discount, that car was not available anymore. Minivan I got was dirty- not even vacuumed dirty. It also had a lot of scratches on it so I took about 20 pictures just in case they try to blame any scratches on me (they did not- at least not yet). Lady told me to wait for the text to come to exit the lot. Waited 10 mins but no text (text never came). I was able to refresh Avis app to show my rental to exit the lot. Friendly smile from the customer representative could not save the chaotic operation. Drop-off was just that- dropped the car off, someone scanned the car and I walked off to awaiting shuttle. read more

I did not have a good experience with Avis at Love Field, Dallas, TX. I, along with about 10 others had reservations for cars and none were available. The agents behind the counter were not up front about the problem and did not offer discounts for the inconvenience. We all had to wait about an hour while they brought vehicles over from DFW Airport. Then they had to quickly wash the cars before giving the keys. I was given an upgraded vehicle, so that helped a bit. I will be calling Customer Service also. read more

I travel a lot for work and this has to be far the worst Avis rental I been to. First of all there is a counter by baggage claim but no one works there. This is usually fine by me bc I'm preferred plus and I usually already know what car and what parking space it will be but having this open will definitely help the flow of people. You have to take a shuttle from airport to rental car which is fine but make sure to understand it's a combined shuttle with budget, almost missed that. After getting off the shuttle, I walk to my assigned space to see that my car isn't there. So I go the Avis desk they have here. But since there is no set up back at the terminal, everyone is here so the line is at least 20 people long. I arrived around 11 which is when my pickup time was. So I decided to ask one of the employees walking by, she looked at my confirmation and saw the car wasn't there and told me to take this other car and they will do the exchange at the gate. But when I got the car, another person was already in it. To make matters worse I had a meeting at 1 o Clock that I needed to get to. So I just went back and waited in line since I lost my spot and a whole new bus came with more people. Didn't want to take another car that someone else was already in it. After waiting about a hour and half , I finally saw someone. They got it changed out and got me a car pretty quick. The only reason I didn't give this place a zero is bc the people behind the counter worked as efficiently as they could with the cards they been dealt. As I got to the car I saw it's a new car, only about 1000 miles but the insides were dirty. No one cleaned it out. So instead of going back and asking for it To cleaned , I just did it myself and left bc it was almost 12:30 plus at this point. I will never rent from Avis here at Dallas love again. The crew here at Dallas Love Field Avis went above and beyond to try to help me find my wallet. I travel a lot for work and I always use Avis. This time I somehow lost my wallet, thus not being able to fly home easily! All of the employees were so empathetic and spent A LOT more time than they really had to. They moved so many cars around, had a bunch of people helping out, and we spent about an hour looking. I was so impressed since most places would have just had me make a claim and wait for a call. Thankfully we found it, It ended up that my wallet was left at my hotel. But I greatly appreciate all of the kind workers at Avis for the taking time out of their busy day to help me. read more

TLDR - deceptive practices, above average vehicles, but neither well cleaned nor maintained. Vehicles have not been fully cleaned inside or washed outside. I've had to clean out the vehicles before I drive off. 1st time I got a Chevy Camaro, 2nd time they upgraded me from a Standard SUV to a Premium (Chevy Suburban), I'm assuming because nobody wants to pay an extra 1k to rent one of those, but definitely worked out for our roadtrip. Suburban had a minor fender bender that was fixed via ziptie, low windshield wiper fluid, required an oil change, and front wipers started making intermittent noise near the end of the 10 day roadtrip. On returning the Suburban with a full tank of gas and leaving the receipt on the console as they request, AFTER they took the vehicle away, they charged me $5.99 for fuel surcharge. I had to call customer service to get it refunded (nice lady, but waste of 15 minutes). You get what you pay for with the Amazon gift cards post-rental (link your Amazon account before you rent). Cheaper than Hertz in price and quality, but also better than the others. read more

please read. if you're having a hard time getting a car because theres a big event in dallas and the cars are all rented and avis is the only place with cars. you will wait for two or three hours. theres no shade and they provide nothing to make the wait easier. i worked there and they care nothing about you. good chance you wont even get a car. they over book. they are slow and never enough people at the counter. if you have quick pick up. dont count on that either. this place cares nothing about you so be prepared to wait in line with no shelter and a good chance you wont get a car... read more

This company and all the ones associated with it at Dallas Love (Payless, Budget) is HORRIBLE. I have been there 4x in the past 6 months for business trips and even with a reservation you stand in line for a MINIMUM of 1 hour. Even with a reservation you are lumped in with all the walk in traffic. Same line. They never have enough cars for everyone waiting and you NEVER get the type of car you reserved. They need to LOOK AT RESERVATIONS and have the cars there & ready to go. But instead, they just pass out whatever car to whoever is next in line because they want to break down the waiting line. They need a triage person who is checking in with the line occasionally and answer questions and expedite the experience. But they are short staffed and too short of inventory. Never any 'sorry' here's a courtesy card or a discount code for your next time. Total Shite read more

This Avis Rent A Car has pretty lousy customer service and has an overall rating of 1.5 stars for a reason. After landing at Dallas Love Field with my husband and our little girl dog, we found the free shuttle and got dropped off at Avis. My husband had already reserved a car online about 1 month in advance when we arrived a few weeks ago. We had this one male employee help us. He wasn't friendly and seemed annoyed when we approached the desk. For whatever reason, my husband had his credit card flagged for using it in Texas, when we live in California. So his credit card to pay was declined. This hasn't happen to my husband before so he called the credit card company while we waited in line. We were told by the employee that if his credit card gets declined after the 3rd time then we will lose our car rental the the rate my husband was able to get it at. So since it was taking way too long to get ahold of my husband's credit card company, my husband ended up using another credit card to pay. And then we had our paper work processed and told to go to his one parking spot number to get our car. When we walked over to it, there was this man with his family in our car. We asked him about that and so he showed us on his receipt that this was the car he was given because the employee over charged him for the car he had reserved before. So that employee (the one who was helping us) upgraded his car, which ended up giving away our car. While we had waited in line earlier, this family was helped by the same employee and had come back in several times to settle a problem. So anyways, we went back to the office and told the guy that he gave away our car. He didn't apologize and rolled his eyes at us (not sure why when he was one the one who made the mistake. Also if a car is already rented out, then it should be taken out of the system to avoid this problem). Then he gave us new paper work for a 4Runner (we originally had a smaller SUV). Then we walked out to find our new car rental. The car had scratches and dents all over the car. We had the employee at the gate note these problems so that we do not get charged for these things when we return the car (this has happened to us before so we always make sure to do a walk around and have an employee note any scratches/ dents, etc). Returning our car rental was fine. The employees working were friendly and then we were able to get the shuttle back to the airport right away. Both times we interacted with the shuttle driver was a friendly experience. The next time we come back to Dallas, we won't be renting a car with this Avis location. read more
