Big location, pretty clean, they have a bit of everything. Lots of Christmas items and home decor, I got some cute labels and gift wrapping paper. Staff is extremely rude. Walked in to ask for the little dumplings to a worker with short brown straight hair and glasses. Asked kindly if the had any and while asking she didn't seem to wanting to help and gave me a short answer "no" and just walked away when I had another question. Dear Dollar Tree Management, I am writing to formally report a very distressing experience I had at your Encino store. If I could give this location zero stars, I would. I was treated very poorly by a cashier described as an older woman with short, curly grey hair and glasses. She was incredibly rude, which unfortunately seems to be a consistent issue with her. Furthermore, I was insulted by another customer in line--a short woman with dark hair--who was being aggressive toward me and others in the store. While this woman was creating a "scary environment" and insulting the man behind me, the cashier did absolutely nothing to intervene or de-escalate the situation. Unfortunately the employees do not want to be there. There's always a long line with next to no checkers. The checker I got recently was telling the other one how when he Durant want to work he just Doesn't show up. Makes no conversation with the customer. Asked if I wanted a receipt and pointed to the register for me to take it myself as he walked away. This place is very unprofessional! I applied online and got a call for an interview. the person I spoke with over the phone went over the schedule with me and asked if I can go In for an interview... I did. Nobody ever showed up. I asked the employees if they knew when the person that does the interview will come in, or course no one had any idea. I waited for 45 minutes no show. I left. Dollar tree isn't perfect however where or what they lack in other areas they generally make up in average customer service and a variety of scented candles... I often stop in for miscellaneous items such as batteries, kitchenware and/or seasonal selects which surprisingly stay in stock longer here than any of the other locations I frequent. I'm rarely disappointed when I stroll into the Reseda/ Tarzana adjacent location and almost always leave with more than I thought I would as everything is only a dollar (not including tax for non food items and/or crv for beverages)... unlike 99 cent only stores that have been carrying higher end items that all end in 99 cents. The major problem at this location is definitely the management... there's never enough employees here during peek hours or anyone to assist with that person in front who needs to make some odd exchange or return... the ads and marketing here are pretty forgettable and I know they have some say in their store set up, end caps, displays, etc. which would make this location feel more personable than it use to in years in the past. read more

This is a new addition to the Encino neighborhood -- right by the Petco and Bevmo on Ventura Blvd. I was quite excited for my first visit -- I'd never been to a Dollar Tree before -- and quickly realized it wasn't the cheaper version of Ralph's that I'd anticipated. It's basically half the size of a 99 Cents Store. There aren't even any shopping carts. Perhaps those are coming later once the store settles in. I snatched up plenty of seasonings, paper/plastic plates and silverware, drinks, and sauces. Not bad. There's really no produce or meat here. There's a frozen food section, but it's for quick meals and that's about it. You're bound to find some interesting items on the shelves. I spotted an at-home drug test that made me LOL. They had plenty of cheap holiday decorations, as well. Ample parking thanks to the spacious lot. read more

AWEFUL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN A STORE! What a shame of customer service. What an AWFUL attitude , service from the manager of the store! A man who the owner trusts, and chose to take care of the customers and the store. What a shame. I came here last Monday, to buy some balloons for my daughter's B-day. There was only one nice lady who worked as a cashier at that time, and the line was long. I told her that I need a few balloons. She guided me to choose the balloons that I want, stand in line, and when it is my turn, I will pay, and she will blow them up for me. I did exactly as she said. I chose my balloons, and stayed in the long line. After about 10-12 min, I had only 2 ladies in front of me in line (and a lot (!) behind me) , but the cashier couldn't continue. The card of the lady in front of me declined, but she insisted the cashier will try again and again. She refused to leave. At this moment, I asked the cashier if she can call someone to help her with the long line. She did call, and a guy came and opened the second register. (I didn't know at this time he is the manager). I immediately moved to his cashier (because it was my turn now), and all the people in the line behind me, moved too. To my surprise, although I was first in line, he told me that he can not blow up my balloons now, and I have to wait until he will finish with all the people in the line behind me. I was in shock ! Really??? Why??? I tried to ask why, and explaining him I already waited in line for almost 15 min . Why do I need to wait until he will finish with all the people behind me?? There was even one customer in line, who told him "it's o.k, I can wait, take her first", but he refused and kept saying " I need to finish with the line first". WTF ??? WHY??? He even told me, that I either wait , or he doesn't have helium ! Can you believe it??? If I will keep asking questions, he will tell me he doesn't have helium !!! I was upset, angry, humiliated , but I waited. I waited until he finished with all the people in the line, and than he blew up my balloons. He refused to tell me his name, although I asked him few times. What a shame for a company that this is a manager in one of the stores. read more

While shopping at this location, I asked an employee if I could use the bathroom. His response was that it was broken. I then asked him where does he go to the bathroom. His reply was that he just got in and didn't answer the question. I asked others inside, who told me they were referred to other businesses nearby when they asked to use the facilities for many months!!! This is highly illegal. Today I got to try DRUMSTICK Mint Chocolate Cereal...the solution to kids wanting to eat ice cream for breakfast This cereal was pretty decent and not too sweet and went perfectly with the bananas I added...banana split for breakfast. Honestly I liked snacking on in as is bc the milk made it soggy and lose the crunch factor. This would go great as a topping to ice cream or fro yo. read more

I was so excited to see a dollar tree in my neighborhood. They opened recently, and I stopped in tonight. The shelves are not all stocked yet, so don't expect it to be as good as all the other locations. I buy the pee pee pads for my dogs here, but this location does not carry them yet. They have a good selection of the usual stuff, plus Xmas and new year items. Lines went quickly, and employees were friendly. Its in the same center as Bevmo and Petco so great location. As long as they get the other items in I like, I will continue coming to this location instead of Van nuys or Reseda. read more

Small location that doesn't have nearly as much as the 99 cents store! It has a variety but the store is so small and the home goods section was like non existent. It looked like people just trampled though the store everywhere. However, they did have a good variety (but small) seasonal section for decorations so I went through those and got some! So, you don't have the store employees following your every move blatantly saying you're a thief with their eyes. Here's your top 5: 1. Dollar Tree is my go to shop for cheap quick items. They have great holidays. My wife spent $30 creating a Christmas themed party. Lots of great items from beads, flowers, ornaments. Very happy about these purchases. 2. Prices are cheap, if you don't care about quality. I'm still amazed at how businesses like these turn a profit. If everything costs a dollar then each item must have cost about .50 to make!! 3. Lines are hit or miss. Either they go quick and there are no issues or they are unbareably slow. That's most likely due to customers being difficult than the employees. 4. The staff do try their best to make things work but the customer service is not always great. 5. On this visit, I was trying to find utensils. I couldn't find them at the usual place! I love this store. You can always find some good things here. I go here and other locations at least 1-2 days a week. There is always something I need. The customer service at his location is usually good. But I have experienced some bad days here. Some happened to me and some to other people. The lines can get long here and fast. I noticed if an employee was going on a break, leaving or had something else to do, they were rude about telling people who have been in line already waiting, that they need to move to another line. That's not good customer service at all! And sometimes they just have a little attitude, like they have been at work all day. I can understand that but it isn't an excuse to be rude to other people. This store also gets pretty dirty. The aisles are messy at times and things are often misplaced in some aisles. Someone should be checking that often throughout the day. Also, the floor really should be moped or swept more often. I feel like I constantly need to Sanitize my hands in this store. If I am in the area, I will come here but I prefer other locations. Most times I prefer good customer service over convenience, unless I'm in a big hurry. They have a pretty good card selection and kitchen items. read more

This review pertains to the Dollar Tree at 17955 Ventura Blvd., Encino, CA. I shop there fairly frequently, but will NOT be back after today's experience. My ongoing complaint is the consistently long lines to check out, especially when the store is not crowded. A staffing shortage doesn't seem to be the issue, as checkers are added when people in line complain--but ONLY when they complain. Today was worse than ever, but the more concerning issue was the empty shelves. The greeting cards were perhaps 20% stocked, and there was empty or nearly-empty shelving in every aisle throughout the store with most items very picked-over, so I did not find many of the items on my list. I thought for sure the store is closing and they're not restocking any items, so I asked the checker. She said, "No, we just can't keep up with you...If they let me stay an extra four hours, I would open the boxes myself." This store is seldom so busy that there would be no time to restock the shelves! Perhaps the very young manager (who appeared to be about 16) could use some grown-up guidance on how to run a business before he runs the store into the ground. I'd hate to lose this convenient location, but after the last several frustrating shopping experiences here, I'll make the longer drive to the 99 Cents Only store and try my luck there. read more

Yeah I don't really like being lied to. With that being said I walked into the dollar tree to buy some birthday supplies. I noticed that they do sell balloons and they have helium. I asked one of the associates if I buy a pack of regular latex balloons from them if they would supply the helium and fill them up. I ended up buying the pack of balloons but when it came time to fill them up the store manager wouldn't do it for me?!? I asked her why do you guys sell balloons if you can't supply the helium I even offered to pay a dollar a balloon. Just left this store disgusted at the behavior i witnessed by the manager, Karen. A senior citizen lady was calmly telling her that she bought something that didn't work and was holding it in her hand. Karen very loudly asked if she had a receipt and when the lady said no but only wanted to exchange it, Karen was telling giving her major attitude stating that they couldn't do anything for her without a receipt. The little senior said she would go and get the same item to prove that she bought it there and began walking down the aisle. Karen got louder and was yelling at her that she can't help her and was rolling her eyes and saying "Oh my god, no receipt and you expect me to help you? Uh you're crazy!" The store was packed because, as usual, they only had 2 registers open, and the faces of the customers witnessing this with me was one of complete disbelief! Very horrible customer service! I wanted to get involved but honestly I was so shocked I had to leave the store! I was hoping that she was there with someone but it didn't look like it. If it was possible to give them zero stars I would definitely give them a rating of zero, the employees at this location are rude they don't care about anything but making sure they work eight hours and make their money, I always wonder how do they get trained as far as how to provide customer service, I never seem to get anyone at this location that seems to know how to give good customer service, the few times that I've been at this location I've witness arguments between cashiers and customers that get so out of control that seems as if they are about to get physical, and is usually the cashiers that are the instigators, hopefully the company is willing to risk being sued when one of their associates end up hurting a customer, the first training they should be receiving is that they are the face of the company and represent and organization and not to behave as if they are in high school looking to fight someone. read more
