I stopped by a few weeks ago and got the salt and pepper enoki mushrooms and the dolo mushroom fried rice. The fried enoki mushrooms were very tasty and super crunchy. Just what you'd expect with a fried food; almost felt like fried onions do but a bit bigger. However, the fried rice didn't have any flavor. I will note that I'm vegetarian, and the other fried rice's didn't look bad at all. But for a vegetarian, fried rice isn't the option at all. It didn't taste like it even had soy sauce. I do think the place has a lot of good nonvegetarian options based on other orders and the staff were very nice. Haven't been to Dolo in a hot minute but was reminded how much I enjoy the dim sum there. It sits just off the main square so I sometimes forget it's there! They have all the traditional dimsum favorites including sesame balls, crepes, barbecue baos. Service is really quick and food came out very fresh. 11 AM appeared to be peak time for them. We ended up having a longer conversation for about 2 hours and they still accommodated us even though we did not order that much food. A lot of good conversations seemed to be happening all around . I love dim sum - it is a meal that regularly sparks joy when I have it, and just such an absolute delight. I've been having it since I was a kid growing up in NYC and so I know what delicious dim sum tastes like. I've been to a couple spots in Chicago, and I have to say Dolo is probably my favorite dim sum spot. It has the classics I like that they do well - the shrimp rice noodle roll, the steamed yellow roll, etc. Honestly feel free to just look at the photo, my friends and I ordered generously and it was all so good. Came here to meet with a client (she chose this restaurant). Parking is available at the restaurant but all spaces were taken, but I was able to find parking easily across the street. Arrived and sat with my client, and we began with the tea that they provide there, it was a clear slightly green tea, I don't know what kind it was but it was a nice warm and healthy to start our meal. My client ordered a few items from their Dim Sum menu. My favorite were the Dolo Shrimp dumpling, and the Sesame Ball. We also had the Fried Flat Noodle w/Beef in soy sauce. That too was delicious. Dolo, "多乐" lit. bountiful of happiness gave me quite the joy in the recent two times I stopped by. Amid a hot summer day, trying to look for free parking in Chinatown is no easy feat. Dolo has its own parking lot! If you manage to stop by before peak hours, it's super convenient to pay them a visit. The servers here are all very hard at work as we customers keep them busy, but they're still all helpful and sweet. I recommend you trying both their dimsum and full meal service. I especially enjoyed their Beijing duck combo, xiao long bao, and pineapple lava buns. A year later, Dolo has continually be a community favorite, filling up on a daily basis with Chinese locals and visitors alike. I've returned several more times to try more dishes. I am happy to report back that their garlic stir fry pea sprouts are delicious as ever. I also very much like their durian crisp on the dim sum menu! The fish fillet w/Chinese broccoli is outstanding but a little too salty for my taste. We also ordered their salt & pepper smelt fish w/onions & jalapeños. This particular dish is something I almost always order as this is one of my favorites anytime I go to a Chinese restaurant. Dolo's Salt & spicy smelt to me is probably the best I ever had. They start w/small smelt & batter it w/rice flour which allows for a super crispy smelt (absolutely amazing). We ordered a small sample of our favorite dim sum dishes along with Chinese BBQ pork & roasted duck from another restaurant nearby. I've heard stories about establishments that purchase frozen dim sum and steam it on site once the order is in. Not this place, apparently! Everything tastes fresh and delicious. We placed our order online, which was easy to navigate and use. My family thought it might be a good idea to dine in one day since they have a small parking lot. Celebrated a birthday here and was given a nice private room for our party of 7. Unfortunately was unaware that dim sum service ended at a certain time, so by the time of our arrival we had missed it. Our table ordered meals and shared it family style. Everything was so flavorful and yummy. The Peking duck was a new dish to most people in our party and we loved it! the salt and pepper mushrooms was also a surprise hit. The crab rangoon were filled nicely and had good onion flavor that paired perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce. The Service left something to be desired, maybe because we were in a private room and not the main dining room, but our server was not all that attentive. We've been walking around Chinatown for a few hours and it became overwhelming trying to narrow down a Dim Sum restaurant when every other restaurants was offering Dim Sum. We circled back to the car to recoup as our meter was running out and unexpected saw Dolo Restaurant & Bar with FREE parking available to guests. The opportunity couldn't have come at a better time and we were genuinely surprised by how good the Dim Sum was. Siu Mai was juicy and full of flavor, Har Gow was bouncy and packed with shrimp filling, Steamed Rice Roll covered in sweet soy sauce had the perfect balance of chew and tenderness. We chanced upon Dolo since our go to Wentworth Seafood is closed on Thursdays. Not a big deal since Dolo was just as good an experience. They have a full bar but you can BYO for a small corkage fee of $5 per bottle of wine. We got the usual Salt & Pepper fish and Fish Filet with vegetables and the flavors were great on both dishes. We finally came to check out the dim sum at this place. The parking lot is quite small, that has been probably our biggest complaint. The food here is still really good, I think they do particularly well with stir fries or main dishes. Their beef short rib was seared really well and flavored perfectly. Probably the best I've had in a while. The purple sweet potato liquid filling dessert balls are also unique and stand out; it was really good but I think my husband thought it was a bit too sweet after a while. The durian flaky balls are also really good, I love that there is natural durian fibers you can see and taste, it's soft and flavorful. The dimsum here is definitely I would say above average but some dish's are maybe a bit lackluster or just not to my preference. Like the chicken feet is a bit more firm than I'd like. Some people really like the extra texture, but I think I'd prefer it just be soft and melty. Flavor is also a bit light, but the crunchy texture is noticeable. Hands down the most authentic dim sum spot in Chinatown! We walked in during lunch rush but surprisingly the wait was not long at all thanks to the efficient staff. The dining space is modern with industrial touches from the exposed ceilings. There's a designated private dining room in the back of the restaurant, perfect for group celebrations. I thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered especially the flat noodles from the entree menu. The buns and meatballs were excellent and the egg tarts were baked to perfection. This is a solid place for dim sum! Even on a weekday, this place is absolutely packed. Luckily, they are quite efficient and despite having a full house, we were seated quickly and the food came out fairly fast as well. Instead of the traditional rolling carts, they have a menu with pictures of all the dim sum and you can mark the ones that you want. We tried their spare ribs with black bean sauce, steamed pork, shrimp and clam dumpling, turnip cake, durian crepe, and the pan fried stuffed eggplant. My favorites were the pork/shrimp/clamp dumpling and the pan fried stuffed eggplant. Dolo Restaurant is a great place to have dim sum. We've been to other places which were good but we wanted to try them. I'm so happy we gave them a try! First off it's packed the minute it opens but they move fast in taking orders and serving you. It's not your typical "carts coming by" dim sum but where it gets really good is everything is made to order and comes to your table fresh and piping hot!! We really enjoyed everything and liked that the waiters spoke English and could answer questions. We also liked the color photos of the items on the order sheet at the table. The seafood congee had real crab, shrimp and slivered ginger making it really unique and tasty. The shrimp egg rolls were crunchy delicious as were the shrimp chive dumplings, shrimp corn balls, sticky rice, beef meatballs and the topper to all this was the sesame balls! Served hot, outside crispy and inside very smooth with just the right amount of red bean paste! I've been to chinatowns all over and these were THE best I've ever had! The mango crepe was a nice change of pace in ending the meal. The chili oil was really good on our dumplings as it's made in house. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is because some dishes were overly oily or salty. My lovely wife and I attended a fine dim sum brunch with family at Dolo Restaurant on Archer, located sort of on the edge of the busier areas of Chinatown. Dolo has its own small parking lot for customers, and a few choice parking spots along Archer too. My cousin made a Saturday reservation for our party of 9, and so we were rewarded with one of the primo private dining spaces in the back. We ordered such a variety of dishes, with something to satisfy everyone's palates. My love absolutely adored the shrimp dumplings, while the BBQ pork chow mein hit the right notes for me as my older relatives distinctly remembered that I loved chow mein ever since I was a wee lad. I stopped in here a week ago and could not believe just how rundown the restaurant looks now. The just could not get over how dirty the parking lot, entrance glass doors, and the glass doors to the patio were. The booths were all cracked and needed reupholstering. Good texture on the noodle itself tho. - pineapple buns: I cannot rate it bc I didn't eat it. - egg tarts : 10/10, I would say this place has the best eggs tarts out of all dim sum places that I've tried, super fresh with a crispy / flaky exterior shell. They don't bring out traditional dim sum carts but do offer a picture menu where you mark the items you'd like to order for the table and hand it to the server, thereby reducing language barriers and miscommunication frustrations. The portion sizes were good - usual 3 or 4 pieces but good sized pieces. As the only vegetarian, I was surprised they had options. I got the egg and pea tendrils crepe as well as the yam-and-mushroom lunch entree. We also tried the fried noodles. Oh, and the honeycomb cake. We were given a number and waited for about 30-40 mins before we were seated. During that wait time, we picked out what we wanted from the dim sum menu so we could order straight away. What kind of dim sum place is that? Not only that the place is half empty and during the week, if they don't have enough teapots, order some!!!! We didn't have reservations and were too hungry to wait for a table, so we ended up sitting at the bar which was great for me because it meant no waiting. Dolo has dim sum and they also have some lunch specials. We decided to pick a few items to share and ordered the fried sweet potatoes, shrimp dumpling, fried shredded taro egg roll, and the Hong Kong style scallion pancake. I was hoping for more savory veggie options but there weren't really many. The soup dumplings have pork and I was hoping the taro egg roll didn't have meat but it did. The fried sweet potatoes was my favorite. The outside was perfectly crispy, the inside was a chewy mochi texture, and there was a surprise cheesey sauce inside. The restaurant itself was super cute and modern. They even had a full bar! But we just ordered tea.
