Cold Noodle Soup
Simon P.

My birthday was March 14th but my friends weren't available, and all of us could only come out on March 15th. We asked a staff, and sadly I did not get the birthday person gets to eat free choice. There's a 2-HOUR eating limit, otherwise there's a cost charge for any leftovers. Food-wise, I really liked the differently priced tiers with each tier offering an amazing variety of options. My 3 friends and I agreed on *DELUXE TIER* for $39.85 per person, and it includes all of the food options below its tier which is classic tier for $28.85. All of the beef belly choices had amazing flavour when grilled over charcoal stove, and honestly it was probably my most favourite item on the menu. The chicken wings were on the smaller side but it still packs great flavour somehow. And the 'cold noodle with soup' had excellent flavour as well but it's a hefty bowl so it's better to save your stomach space for just meat only instead of carbs. The downside of my experience is the open bar which you can find in the middle of the restaurant. Its options was pretty lackluster and after circling the options at the open bar twice, I ended up NOT grabbing anything for the counter. Maybe they will change it up in the future, but at the present time I was a customer there, I did not like any of the choices on the open bar. Picture will be attached with caption. Overall, would I come back to Jin Tan Grill House? Yes. I would like to try their top tier called *SUPREME* for $68.85. For the choices supreme tier offers, I hope it's worth it in my future visit. For now, the *Deluxe* tier option was excellent but I might consider just coming here alone or with 1 or 2 friends next time because it is pretty expensive. Definitely recommended.

A pretty cool place to grill some food over charcoal fire. They have a great selection of meats that you can get from their all you can eat menu. We opted for the Supreme combination as it came with all the best cuts of meat. They also have a self service hot station bar. This is a place that should be tried at least once if you are in the area.

We had a great time checking out Jing Tan! The service is friendly and fast and the food is unreal. The meat quality is great - it's definitely a great value AYCE! I would 100% recommend checking this spot out if you like AYCE!

Love coming for hangout with friends, lots of different variety of food to eat. Different tier levels for different budget. Something nice is that they switch up their ready made food bar often, so you don't get bored of it. Our favourite has to be the corn cheese, always a hit with friends!! Servers there are also very friendly and attentive, ready to change the grills whenever it needs to be done so that's a bonus! Meat always seems fresh and pretty good portion size per order. Strict on 2 hours limit, so keep that in mind. Overall recommend coming here with friends or family for a fun meal!

Very friendly and patient staff and the overall vibe of the restaurant was pretty good. My friends and I got the classic all you can eat menu and the only thing we didn't like was the pork belly. The beef and chicken were all good and the pricing was pretty fair. Definitely recommend going with friends who have big appetites.

Arrived at our scheduled reservation time and were seated promptly. Our server was great and took the time to quickly explain the layout and format of the restaurant to us. We ended up going with the second tier of AYCE ($42.85), and ordered a selection of meats to try. They do pretty good with actually honouring the amount of food you ordered. Our favourites were the short rib, blade slices, and beef tongue; all the other beefs tend to be a bit on the fattier side and we prefer leaner meats. Meats were pretty good, there are two powders and a sauce on the table for you to dip the meat in. Sauce was a bit lacking in flavour but the powders were nicely flavoured. I was pleasantly surprised by the appy bar that had a variety of small side dishes, shrimp crackers, candies, crab, watermelon, and even marshmallows for you to roast. The server was really attentive and changed our grill multiple times. My only complaint is that the grill was too slow - it didnt cook our meat fast enough so I don't feel like I ate as much as I could have because of the cooking time constraint. Thicker meats and meats like chicken and pork took really long to cook. They eventually did change the coals out for us but it still wasnt not enough to cook things fast. I would recommend sticking to the thinly sliced beef options so that you can eat at a more optimal speed. Ended off the meal with a soft serve cone, which was not bad. I enjoyed my visit here and might come again if their grills work harder!

Grill is ice cold, and could not get up to temp even with fresh charcoal.

Grill did not heat up at all due to poor design. It was impossible to get the grill temp up to sear the meat. Took forever for the grill to cook anything, and ended up steaming the meat. Paid full price for 7 adults ($68 each) and everyone left hungry. 0/10 avoid.

We went for a late lunch at 2pm and it was a packed restaurant. Cost was $28.85 per adult and $14.99 per child (up to 11 years old) for the Classic, which is the lowest tier because I figure we can't eat that much at that time. We ended up tapping out after round two. The must gets are the beef belly slices. There were 3 types of marinade but I liked the simple sea salt ones the best and you can dip into your sauces. The beef tongue was on the chewier side but not too bad. Pork belly was fatty and delicious and the pork shoulder was tender. Veggies are very much needed since you get the meat ick after a while to change things up. Service was great and no complaints there.

This place never fails to put a smile on my face. Awesome charcoal bbq goodness. Excellent side dishes like crispy fish, onion rings, etc and free ice cream at the end too. Meats are fresh and good quality. And price can't be beat! Service fast and efficient. Place is clean and well organized. They take credit and debit! One of the best bang for the buck places. Reservations are highly recommended. Cheers! Happy eating!

Came here for their AYCE for dinner. There were 3 tiers to choose from and we chose the middle tier. It gave plenty of meat choices and seafood choices. Definitely recommend booking a reservation ahead. I used google to book a reservation and it led to a yelp waitlist. Use the time you picked on google & don't use the wait list because they don't actually follow it. We ordered most of our food at the beginning & were very full. Parking can be hard and tight to find.

Karla T.

Charcoal grilling definitely adds that extra flavour, and everything was fresh. But overall it was just an a-ok experience. Not the best BBQ I've had, though still a fun night out.

So happy i finally got to try this place after waiting for so long and constantly seeing it pop up in peoples stories or reviews etc. It was absolutely the best meal ive had in so long. My friend and i went for the second tier pricing 39.85 and trust me it was plenty of options. So much actually didn't even get try everything We also opted to do all you can drink for $5, which actually lets you choose unlimited amounts from the drink choices in that fridge. I was mindblown! Something about charcoal bbq just really hits the spot. The cold noodles was a nice way to end off the meal. Some of my fave cuts of meat was cumin lamb, beef finger meat with pineapple, honey chicken wing, pork neck meat and pretty much all the beef options in my tier and below. If you're lucky enough to get to try the takoyaki balls please do! It was sooooo good but i only had 1 since the tray only had 4 left when i went up to the appetizer bar. The service is hands down 5/5. English is really good. The cashier receptionist was so sweet with answering all my questions and having us seated. The servers are really well mannered too, they all smile and actually respond and not just walk away like some other restaurants i've been to. Parking does get a little hectic but it is worth it. Do be aware they take credit card (with a 2% fee added/ or debit with no fee added and they take cash. So be prepared The ambiance was just perfect too, everyone's there to enjoy a good meal, there's no drunk party animals ... everyone was pretty respectful of other diners. The restaurant was well run i'd say. I'm definitely coming back.

No frills and worth the hype!…read more Our family of six arrived at 12 pm on a Tuesday. We waited approximately 25 minutes which is not bad at all considering how popular this small restaurant is. My mom is vegetarian and my girls had a wonton noodle soup lunch at another spot down the street. So we ordered a few things mainly for my dad, husband and myself: 1) Platter with barbecue pork and chicken (雙拼叉燒香油雞) 2) Half-order of roast duck (半隻脆皮燒鴨) 3) late of roast pork (燒肉) 4) Bowl of rice (一碗米飯) We cleared everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and flavorful. My girls are usually indifferent to Cantonese barbecued meats but they tried it and enjoyed everything as well. This is definitely a place to repeat if and when we revisit Vancouver.

They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.

Their business is situated in a busy mall and it's more of a take out place vs a sit down restaurant. They also operate as a butcher shop. The workers here are really friendly and I never have issues ordering for someone who doesn't speak Cantonese/Mandarin. I rotate between ordering their roasted pork, soy chicken, and steamed chicken. All are amazing, especially the steamed chicken!! I ordered this by mistake once and didn't realize something so simple could be so delicious. The ginger scallion sauce they provide with it is so good. Everything always tastes fresh. Prices are great too, especially with the US to CAN conversion. Highly recommended!

Strolling up, there was a line. Good sign. The meats in the window were glistening and dripping delicious juices. Through the corner of the glass you could see the meat carver chopping each order and placing it in containers with their signature sauce. We waited a short time and were greeted at the counter. Almost every customer before us was Chinese and I'd watched the staff speak with them in both Mandarin and Cantonese, but both employees spoke to us in English (sincerely appreciated). We ordered a small amount of fatty and lean char siu and some roast duck, which he promptly selected from the window and chopped to order. The fatty was a bit much for me, but the lean char siu was absolutely delicious, and the duck had a nice crispy skin and juicy meat, all of which was delicious too. The sauce took up to the next level. IDK what it is about the soy served with bbq but it's either infused with the seasonings of the meat or the two combine in your mouth to make magic. Parker Place is a solid stop for this type of cuisine and a good starting point for exploring it in Richmond. I look forward to comparing them all over future visits.

Every item we ordered was well prepared and true to the HK flavors you'd expect -- nothing overly salty or greasy, just balanced and satisfying. We tried half a BBQ duck and the three-meat combo with rice, and both were excellent. If there's one area for improvement, it would be the food temperature. Nothing came out piping hot, which left me wondering if the dishes had been sitting out for a bit -- or perhaps the restaurant just doesn't see as much volume during off-peak hours. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but hotter plates would elevate the experience. Pricing was very reasonable, especially with their ongoing specials, making it an easy choice for a casual meal that delivers on flavor and value. We intended on getting the à la carte menu at first but realized that based on how many big eaters we had, it was more bang for our buck with the all you can eat menu. We chose the lowest tier of all you can eat and there were some people who preferred seafood; even if you upgraded to the highest tier the selection in our opinion, didn't get drastically better that it was "worth it". We had a party of six and was seated at a long table with a divider. When we got to our seat, the staff had placed the divider at exactly the table edges connecting the two stove but it was so squishy and uncomfortable for 6 people that we had to move the divider over a little. There's a time limit for all you can eat however with one stove and us not knowing that the vegetables came raw and in full foiled packages, it took a long time to grill anything. Our waitress came over many many times to remind us about the time limit and even then... we were well over our time limit even though we only put in two rounds of food. One stove shared between six people was awful. It's not like our stove could cook any faster even if the waitress rushed us. We were even ending the meal with s'mores and the waitress couldn't wait any longer and brought over the bill. We had to put down our s'mores stick to pay the bill so she could leave us alone to finish the meal... the restaurant was not busy, there were plenty of empty tables and there was no one waiting in the lobby. Did not appreciate the service here. Overall, food was greasy and not memorable (as I just tried a different grilled meat spot a few days prior). The portions were weird. Most of the dishes were severely under portioned so we made sure to up our portions for round two. Our time was up before we could even put in our final round three order. The staff also didn't respect some of the items. We put in ice cream on the first order as people wanted to use it as a grease palate cleanser and it was only when we followed up with the waitress did they say "oh we thought it should be served at the end of the meal instead since it's a dessert". Perhaps following the orders of what customers mark off would help with better customer service....

The gyu-sushi was kind of a disappointment - it was like a roast beef slice on rice with some seasoning. Unfortunately, the place didn't look well cleaned and maintained. For the hot pot, we just go up to the open refrigeration and select our meats and vegetables, and place in the metal pot. We bring the metal pot to the bar/front counter and select a choice of soup. I tried the bone broth (which was just ok) and the tom yum (which was good). The hot pot would be delivered to our table when done. For the BBQ meats, we select from our choices and was brought to our table cooked and placed on the hot plate to keep warm. The chicken and beef were excellent and not dry. Salads and other cooked food at the front counter also included. There is free parking out front. The décor is from the old ACB restaurant which brought fond memories from 30 years ago! Throughout our visit, the waitress directed almost all of her attention to my husband. She explained everything to him in detail while barely acknowledging me. When it came to drinks, after the two men had placed their orders, she didn't even ask me if I wanted anything before walking away, as if I were invisible. At the end of the meal, after I paid the bill, she turned to my husband, smiled only at him, and completely ignored me. It was extremely impolite and made me feel disrespected.
