This place is hands down beyond amazing. If you upgrade your room, you're basically staying right on the beach -- the view is absolutely insane. The managers and staff go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of. They'll even put cones down so you have your own parking spot. I was thoroughly impressed. Right on the beach, at the dead end of the street on Main. This old school motor inn serves its purpose and is a bargain by comparison to the other chain lodging in the area. A double queen room that faced the water, with a large window that really affords the view. Each room has seating out front of your room, and parking is at your door if you are on the ground floor. Pretty comfortable lodging and for the price and neighbor its a deal. Stayed here a couple nights recently on a roadtrip through the area. The front desk is friendly and courteous, checking in was simple enough the afternoon of our arrival and check out is an express setup, drop your keys in the box at the fromt office. This motel is literally on the boardwalk, its mere steps to the sand and ocean. Clean, quiet and comfortable on a dead end street in the center of town. Loved our stay at the Dolphin Cove Motel! We were only able to stay one night, but would stay here again in a heartbeat. It is right on the sand at the base of the Pismo Beach pier and has a little old school motel charm. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The manager was kind and helpful. When we booked this hotel, we had no idea they have a time to check-in. Usually all hotels are checked any time. The guy Michael I think his name was waiting for us. He was very patient. Very good service. I checked Google websites doesn't state the time it close even on the 3rd party website. We got the business card in this way we can get a better deal directly. It is really literally close by the beach. You have the lawn chairs and small table in the front which was amazing for my mom. She cannot walk far plus she can sit enjoy fresh air. The rooms were two queen size bed. We got room 20. The beds were so comfortable that I literally slept like a log. The room was nice and warm. My mom cannot stand the cold. Definitely, good insulation. We will definitely come here again but this time stay longer. read more

Cute motel and it's right on the beach! The customer service team were courteous. Our room was next to the Cleaning Maintenance and Office, which my family and I don't recommend, because it was hard for us to sleep in the early morning with all their talking and moving equipment, etc. I understand it's their job caring for the rooms, but it's tough. The walls are definitely not sound proof. Our last night there, the people next door were yelling most of the late night. Our Clean/do not disturb sign kept falling off our door, so our room didn't get clean/dirty towels left, but they left clean towels in a plastic bag on our bed. Anyway, we probably won't stay there again when we hopefully return to Pismo next summer. We look forward to catching up on sleep when we get home. read more

Amazing customer service!! We were warmly greeted for our stay by the manager. We told him our stay was for our daughter's birthday and he upgraded our room to a suite! He even gave her a box of chocolates! The view from our room was immaculate. We will definitely come back for another stay here. The location is great! A few steps away from the beach. Amazing sunset views from the room. They have an outside patio where you can enjoy your morning coffee. The suit has two queen beds and a sofa bed, fits 6 ppl. read more

For a beach motel, the room was cleaner than other motels I have stayed at with one exception, the floors. I don't think the floors are ever mopped, just vacuumed because there was no sand, but our white socks were black after walking on the floor briefly. It was disgusting. The location was fantastic and parking was included. For the price though, around 400/night after taxes during a summer weekend, it was really pricey for a motel. I suppose you are paying for on the beach location. This is a motel, so no amenities. The only other feedback that I have is that the hotel can be more mindful about room assignment. At checkin, I asked for a room on the second floor. I told the lady at the front desk, yes I know but I have a reservation and if there is a room available upstairs, I would prefer this. She just stared at me and said, no vacancy and gave me my keys to room #7. At 10pm the room upstairs, #10, with the exact same layout, arrived. Two adults and three kids under five. They jumped and bounced and everything else as they unpacked. The next morning, they woke up early and someone walked back and forth for an hour. It sounded like heels, but we were at the beach so why would someone have heels on? Then I see later that morning, the mom had on cowboy boots and must have been walking back and forth between the bathroom and room to get ready. Please have some common sense when you're on the second floor of an old motel with little insulation. There are 20 rooms and #7 and #10 have two beds and one sleeper sofa in "two" rooms. #6 has three beds in "two rooms". Rooms are smaller than regular hotels like at Mariott. read more

It was either Dolphin Cove or Motel 6. Both were around the same price and I wish I would have chosen Motel 6. Cons You are paying for the views. I won't lie the big window is lovely but also no privacy and makes the room HOT. There was a fan but I think it was actually a heater because when putting the temperature down it would not stay. It would stay only to 82 and then blow hot air and then suddenly stopped. When we first walked in , it felt extremely humid and smelled odd in the room. There is one window in the bathroom. Looking outside the window you can see trash cans lined up from Wooly's Restaurant. The smell was not coming from there but instead it smelled more like dusty old. Room is small. Not enough space in between some things. We almost rearranged the fridge and drawer to have more space. Ice is limited and ends at 9pm. I believe the sign said only 2 ice trips allowed...until 9pm. The ice machine is also located only inside the office. Pros : The window view. That's it. I would think it would be nicer if they had added two curtains like how other hotels have. One that is light and thin , and then a darker heavier one to block the sun. read more

I called Dolphins to see if we could check in early. The lady that answered phone said yes and we would be in room 23 I offered to pay extra so she was good with that. We get there and i explained to manager that was there that i was told yes you can check in early. He vey nicely explains that they're painting the walkways and we can't go up until 4. I guess he saw the disappointment on my face and i said well ok. We came from clovis i probably would not have come this early had i known. I asked if we could leave our truck here while we walked downtown. He said let me see what i can do for you. He looked to see what rooms were available and asked if i minded staying in a different room. When i tell you the customer service was perfect it was perfect. He upgraded into a 2 bedroom suite with no extra charge and let me pick room and he let us check in at noon. I highly recommend Dolphins cove. The place is always clean and our view was beautiful as always. read more

You are so close to the ocean the sound of waves will lull you to sleep. The management is incredibly kind and welcoming. He made sure all our needs were met AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. The only good thing about this hotel is its beach side location right around the corner from the downtown shops and restaurants. Hotel parking right on the beach is great, but you're better off paying a little more money and staying at the better hotel just a few hundred feet up the road. Read on for why... Old food in the mini fridge. Pillows so limp and without support that your neck hurts in the morning and cannot get comfortable. Walkway light outside room is as bright as the sun at night disrupting sleep. Noise from bar next door is very audible within room. Huge gaps below door allow freezing breeze into room for cood feet and room even with windows closed. Narrow walkway further narrowed by furniture outside room meaning you have to squeeze past people like the window seats on an airliner. read more

Clean room. Lots of amenities. Right next to Pismo pier. In the bathroom there's only a shower. No tub, but full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower and hand soap and lotion at the bathroom sink. Even though I was by myself, there was a place where someone else could sleep, and there were extra blankets and pillows in the closet. There was a heater in the room. Room included a frig, coffee maker and microwave. In the closet was also a tower air conditioner that could be used. Staying on a Saturday night it was so quiet. Have absolutely no complaints about the room or the price considering it was right on the beach and the rooms have a view of the beach and the pier. Definitely my place to stay from now on in Pismo. Hello! I am so excited to share my positive experience at my first time here (and Pismo Beach). My friend booked it and I was going with the flow. I had seen some cute photos online and was already a person that enjoys small beach town vibes. The outside walls are painted in a bright cerulean blue and white. There are huge blue pots outside by some rooms (containing few plants). You're hit with the automatic "beach charm" from the Dolphin signs and paintings. I want to boast about how cheerful and kind our front desk host - Alina (sorry if I am not spelling this right). She is brunette with glasses and has a warm welcoming personality. She genuinely seem happy to serve us. She further reminded me of why I prefer the mom & pop sort of motels. Our location was right by the pier, beach, and downtown. You can walk right in to downtown. It's a stone's throw from the beach (see photo). For pricing, location, (~$180 for ocean view, 2 queen beds).. this is a steal. Simple, quiet, and charming! Location location location!! That's the only good thing about this place. If you only care about the location, then this is the place. Located right on the board walk that leads you to the beach. You'll find some coffee and food for sale ($1 chips, water bottle) in the small lobby. There is also a dated sitting area that isn't well supervised. Walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors and people stomping up and down the stairs. You'll feel it too. But if you want a view get the second floor, the first floor doesn't have an ocean view. Stayed for two nights. Could hear the guests above and next door all evening and into late night with arguing and music. Furnishings were not in great condition. I had to put the bed base together before sitting on it. Parking is directly outside rooms (4 feet from the door) and had vehicles starting all night long and alarms being set. I got little to no sleep. Not worth the effort of getting my bag into the room. One hundred percent would not recommend. read more

My husband and I spent two wonderful days/nights at Dolphin Cove Motel. The location is the best possible in Pismo Beach, right at the sand, with the most beautiful view of the surf rolling in. Sunsets were incredible and because we were there in December, the Christmas tree at the end of the pier was visible from our room. The boardwalk to the pier was only a few steps away, and we easily walked to the local restaurants. Michael, the manager, was so friendly and helpful. He and his staff did a fantastic job making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The room was very clean, had everything we needed, and the King bed was extremely comfortable. We can't wait to stay here again on our next visit to Pismo Beach! read more

We booked thru Booking.com and we were unable to request a ground floor room thru them so we called directly to the motel and they were able to give us the perfect room for us. Even got extra blanket and towels King bed comfortable but only one chair in room so we used the patio chair which wasn't comfortable for my hubby. We would go again sometime. read more

Owner canceled my reservation hours before arriving! I had booked thru Expedia in January for a 50 year wedding anniversary. I called the hotel hoping he hadn't sold my room already. He told me to "calm down" I asked him why did you cancel my room? He said Expedia did. Mind you I had to rebook the room through him. At a higher rate then Expedia! I called Expedia (who I book through all the time and love) He told me HE entered the wrong expiration year on my CC. And instead of re-entering it he just canceled it! Now the top floor rooms have an amazing view. And the rooms were very clean. We had a queen room. You have to walk sideways to get to the bathroom! They have some bulky dresser blocking the walkway! Add shelves in the closet and get rid of it. And the useless dolphin fountain? Put rock in it instead and make it a gas fire pit read more

This is a small two-story motel with an incredible location, clean rooms, and very friendly staff. My rating is a comparison to similar small beachfront motels. No it's not fancy, but it's very very clean. When I get into a hotel room during the pandemic, the first thing I do is take find sanitizing wipes and wipe down all the surfaces. When I did it in their room, the wipe was completely clean. They are taking serious precautions in the check in process too. You can check in online! That didn't work for my iPhone for some reason but Mike has created a relatively contact free process in the office. I believe he's the owner and he's very helpful and friendly. In fact, we left a Hydro flask water bottle in the room and as soon as they found it he called me. There isn't a better location in Pismo beach. There just isn't. You are literally right on the pier. The beach is a few feet from your room. We stayed in room 22 which was an upstairs room and we had a beautiful view of the sunset. The room wasn't large but it was plenty big enough and had everything we needed! You can park right at your front door. Zero complaints! Highly recommend! read more

Pros: The staff is very nice. The location to the beach is amazing with the pier steps away. Bathroom was clean. Cons: Mold along the windowsills, stains on the bedding and couch. The pull out couch was covered in crumbs from the previous people. And the noise from the people walking upstairs was super loud. The beds had sand in them at the feet like the bedding was never switched over. We checked in early and then stayed out all day. We didn't get back into the hotel until around 8pm so I didn't tell the front desk. We were there for one night and I have four kids, so I wouldn't have moved rooms even if they offered. So to their credit I didn't give them the opportunity to resolve this. read more
