Our evening started on a private tour with Captain Matt and Josh! We got to be picked up at the Westin hotel at the dock and went out to watch for dolphins! The entire trip was 2 hours with directed sightings of dolphins, bald eagles, deer, and explanations of the dredging of the channel and the ships that come and go! They were so personable and kind! At first I wasn't too sure about a dolphin tour that leaves from River Street--I just knew we would need to drive to Tybee to see dolphins, but I was wrong! We saw lots of dolphins--my seven year old counted 107!--so you DEFINITELY can take this tour from River Street and not have to drive out to the ocean. read more

Dolphin Magic Tours earns my 600th review for lots of reasons the main reason being the last in this review the first reason is they delivered on what they promised you will see lots and lots of dolphins. The second is the people running this boat from the first mate to the captain are super friendly and they know just about everything you'd ever want to know about these mammals or the abundant wildlife in the area. The boat ride starts off of East River Street in Savannah and meanders down to the ocean near Tybee Island it's quite the trip. Bring your own sunscreen and bottle water although they do have water for sell at $1.00 per bottle. The secret to finding dolphins in these waters is the shrimp boats dragging their trawls endlessly through the fish filled waters. The dolphins are looking for a free meal and this is just the ticket. As a bonus you will get a unique view of the island's Lighthouse this spectacular view is only possible from offshore. The last final reason why they earned my 600th review and the five star rating is I had the most awesome opportunity to spend the entire day with my 13 year daughter who had traveled to Savannah from Ohio for vacation and she picked this tour and was so excited to do this Dolphin Magic Tour and they didn't disappoint. She invited me to join her so with out hesitation I drove a few hours from NSB to do this with her she thought it was unbelievable and I owe the giant smile on her face to the Captain and First Mate for making this such an enjoyable experience. I recently went to Savannah with my Girl Scout Troop, and the Dolphin Magic Tour was by far my favorite activity! Our captain and crew were fabulous, and made the sailing experience education and extremely fun. In addition, we saw tons and tons of dolphins. This experience was extremely educational, as we learned about the history of Savannah, South Carolina, and many historic cities. I highly recommend this as an addition to any trip in the Savannah area! read more

We visited Savannah over the 4th of July weekend and stumbled upon Dolphin Magic Tours. Wanted to take the whole family for a fun evening. Our tour was wonderful from start to finish. We saw dozens of dolphin in their natural habitat swimming and jumping. Our first mate Morgan made our trip! I really enjoyed the tour. We were running behind because my dad is an elderly and they waited for us. Our captain and crew were funny and laid back. They made the trip not boring. I was skeptical whether or not we will see dolphins but we did! We saw 4 dolphins!!! So happy! They made the trip interesting with history of Savannah. Only downside is, it's a bit noisy at the boat. read more

This was a great tour! So much more then just a boat ride to see dolphins, which we did see! The guys doing the tour gave us a great history lesson about the area and the port of Savannah, along with suggestions of things to go see in the city. We ended up having to go out to the Tybee Island area before we saw the dolphins but the guides knew that before we set out- meaning they scope it out for you before they get started which I think is great! We saw some shrimp boats and a couple of giant barges on the way out so the boat ride was still fun and totally worth it! They are really passionate about what they do, and that resulted in a fabulous tour. Tip*** bring cash for a tip! We didn't have any on us and I felt terrible because they definitely deserved it!! We had a great time on our dolphin tour! We had a nice leisurely ride out to the ocean and learned a lot about the Savannah River along the way, and we even learned some funny made up stuff too. :) Everyone on the boat was having a good time and we got to see lots of dolphins. The best part was the dolphins decided to swim along side us in the wake of the boat on the way back. Very cool to see them racing with us and jumping in the wake. read more

Lovely dolphin tour. It was about two hours and we were able to see female dolphins jumping out of the water. I saw several baby ones that were absolutely adorable. Wear sunblock as the rays of sun in savannah are quite strong!!! I did get sunburn but it was worth it as my seat in front of the boat was pretty sweet. I was able to get some of them jumping on video not so much in pictures though. I def recommend everyone at least to try this tour it's great!!!! read more

If you want to take a tour of the Savannah River, see plenty of dolphins and learn some history about Savannah, then this is a great tour. The tour lasts about 2 hours and the crew (boat captain and first mate) are very knowledgeable and friendly. You have lots of opportunities to see plenty of dolphins AND we even saw an alligator in the river (very rare)!! The cost is reasonable. The ship is a small yacht and has only one bathroom, so be prepared. Overall, I would recommend this tour to anyone and take it again. read more

I was pumped to enjoy a boat ride on the river. We were a family group including grandparents, parents and a 2 and 4 year old. We saw many dolphins up close to the boat and even the 2 year old could see them. A+ on seeing dolphins. The seating was benches with no backs and it lasted 2 hours. Not comfortable. The person narrating seemed to think he had an audience of young drunk people who wanted to listen to nonsense at a very loud volume. His audience would rather have learned about the history of the area and the wildlife found in the area. We saw skimmers flying that he did not even point out but he told a story about Captain Crunch cereal instead. Sorry. You missed your mark. read more

We enjoyed the historical and point if interest info the tour guide provided. We had to go further out towards Tybee Island to actually see the dolphins. The tour is scheduled for 1.5 to 2 hours. We must have gone over that time frame because the Captain brought the boat back in record time. We started back so fast that we got splashed from head to toe, and then some. We were soaking wet for the rest of the afternoon. So much so that I was still pulling out things that got wet 2 days later. If you love dolphins, take the tour. But I strongly suggest you also bring a change of clothes, wearing a bathing suit or bring a rain coat/poncho for the ride back to to pier . read more

The boyfriend and I were recommended this tour by our concierge at the hotel. Overall, we saw dolphins for about 5 minutes total out of the 2 hours we were on the boat. We were both pretty bored after that. This tour was eh, and is geared toward kids. If you don't have kids with you, you may want to check out what else Savannah has to offer. read more

We had a very interesting tour. After about 45 minutes, and seeing an amazing group of dolphins, a storm quickly rolled in. The captain made a decision to head to the Tybee Island coast guard station to wait out the storm. The right decision! I appreciate his utmost concern for his passengers' safety. The first mate was hilarious and used humor to keep everybody engaged and calm. They truly made the best of a tough situation. read more

My only negative is the uncomfortable seats - it's also a pretty long tour and you are only seeing dolphins for 10-15 minutes. But it was totally in line with my expectations and I would recommend this tour to other visitors. read more

Warning to anyone wanting to do this tour, traffic and parking in the area is a pain so you have to allow plenty of time. By the time we got there we saw that they had a sign up saying that you had to arrive 15 minutes early but of course they don't bother to mention any of this on their website so I am just out $48. From some of the other reviews it sounds like we didn't miss much anyway. Will just pick a different boat tour next time. read more

Wish my friends and I could have experienced this tour. Booked weeks in advance for my sister's birthday as a surprise to her. Got stuck on 16 in heavy traffic and called to let them know we would be late. Was told they hold the boat 5 mins after departure time. Our tour was scheduled for 11am. Parked our car at 11:05 and the boat had taken off. Can say we were truly disappointed. We came for the day from Atlanta. I felt like in situations like that where we had no control over, we should have been issued a refund. I can see if we didn't call or just didn't show up. That would have been the right thing to do. read more

Sorry but this was a total waste of time. The fully loaded everyone shoulder to shoulder with no seat backs went 40-59 miles per hour racing to Tybee Island where we did actually see a few dolphin fins bob out of the water. Never actually saw a dolphin. Maybe 15 minutes of floating around looking for them. Then racing back another 45 minutes to the dock. Boring!! Maybe fun if you like to race across a river for a couple of hours. You could not hear the narrator because the engine was so loud and what you could barely make out was not interesting ot funny. Anyway I suggest you save your vacation time for something more enjoyable. read more

Back breaker. The seats are bench type and very uncomfortable- ouch. Rode to Tybee Beach and looked at Dolphins for ten minutes then rode back. Kids would probably enjoy the boat ride. The crew could probably go on line and find some funny jokes. read more
