Located in the same strip mall as my favorite Lebanese/middle eastern restaurant, Phoenician Taverna. My colleagues & I were in Mason for two days of meetings. The first night we went to Taverna & the second we came here after we'd noticed it the night before. Super attentive service and great food. The owner was there and you can tell he not only loves what he does but genuinely cares about his customers. I come to the area 1-2x a year and will definitely be back. To give you an idea of what I thought of it: my colleagues left and I spent one more night in the area before continuing on my trip. I came here two nights in a row. I'll start by prefacing that I've had some of the best Korean all over the continental US from HAWAII, Cali, NYC, ATL, Texas, Colorado - you get the picture. The food was "meh" at this place for lunch. The staff and owner VERY friendly, but the lunch special left me still hungry. Very small portions, and the price was a bit high for a lunch SPECIAL. We stopped by for dinner and the owner Sung was out of town and was told a limited menu was available . It looked pretty complete with stone bowl rice Dolsot Bibimbap variations. We had one with tofu. I had Seafood pancake as my dinner which was delicious. Crunch on the edge and light. The sauce is combination tangy, soy sauce with green onions and sesame seeds. There were 6 different banchan- small dishes. We dove right into food and I forgot to take photos of the delicious looking food. You would not have guessed that the owner was out of town from the quality of the food. Highly recommended. read more

Our second visit to Dolsot Bistro enjoyable as the first visit. Service is attentive and atmosphere peaceful and inviting. Our Dolsot entree's were flavorful and portions are good size. The pickled course was a little different this time with the kimchi and fried pickled radish being our favorite but the beans sprouts were a close third place. Compared to the nearby Korean BBQ and hot pot restaurant, Dolsot bistro menu is better balance offer noodles, soups, among the traditional Bimbap and Bulgogi dishes. Living in rural Kentucky, I have limited access to ethnic cuisine so always try to find good places when I'm traveling. Dolsot Bistro did not disappoint. The dolsot (hot stone) dishes include choices of chicken, pork, beef or vegan. I had the chicken with spinach, zucchini, lettuce, carrot, radish and a soft fried egg served on top of rice. We took the recommendation of another reviewer to let the dish sit for a few minutes before stirring so the rice would get crispy. Great recommendation! The crispy texture added a nice dimension to the dish. When you stir it together with the mildly spicy chili paste it is really delicious. The sides of Kim chi, glazed potatoes and marinated zucchini were a great accompaniment. The service was good and the ambiance was pleasant. Recommended! read more

The servers were very polite. Hot sake was excellent. Food is okay. The beef bolgogi lacks flavor. The dolsot beef had just few pieces of meat and pricy for $30+. Recommend trying the dolsot kimchi and pork belly and extra meat with it. Do not be fooled they charged extra $7 for surcharge. They should print a new menu so customers will not be surprised in the end. read more

Brought in a few clients for lunch as we were in the area and the reviews looked great and once we got our meal they lived up to expectations. Décor was warm and inviting with some actual bistro-style French music playing in the background. After we were served the obligatory kimchi assortment which consisted of marinated potatoes, cucumber and cabbage (all very good) I went with the Dolsot bibimbap which was a very traditional preparation served in a searing hot ceramic bowl. I opted for the pork which was deliciously marinated and crisped nicely when mixed in with the shredded carrot, noodles and rice. The fried egg was perfectly cooked and the tableside spicy paste added just enough heat for me. Service was excellent and prices very good for the amount of fresh, quality food you are given. read more

Ever judge a book by its cover? We did and therefore put off trying Dolsot Bistro since it didn't look like anything special from the outside. From the moment we arrived and during the entire meal, we found the service to be warm, friendly, and attentive. Now for the even better part: the food was great. The menu offers a number of options for different Dolsot and the two we tried were really good. Loved to see there were regulars that the staff clearly knew and acknowledged. We came here to celebrate my birthday weekend. It's a small family owned restaurant. The food was AMAZING and the staff was so nice. I asked them for their recommendations and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The prices are great for the amount of food you get. I ended up getting the BBQ EEL bowl and I wish I could've taken home a bowl. My boyfriend got the seafood bowl and he also loved it. The owner came over and mixed it for us and told us how they ate it. We were taken care of and asked if we needed anything often. The food here is really good and the lunch specials aren't a bad price for the quality, especially considering that it comes with three mini sides, two dumplings, two sushi (cooked meat) pieces, rice and the main meat all for $13. While I was there there was a mix up on the order and the chef came out to apologize in person, it was a bit awkward because I basically was eating someone else's lunch who had been waiting but the staff was friendly and apologetic about the whole situation. This place offers a nice little upscale environment which I really appreciated but keeps the prices reasonable and the service friendly. The flavor in the beef was especially phenomenal and I certainly wouldn't mind going again. This place is a bit hidden in a strip mall (seems to be a theme in this area) but it's directly next to a subway and a Japanese bistro. Service was reasonably fast but a bit tight for an hour lunch unless you are really close. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Dolsot Bistro's food was ok. The establishment was nice and clean and our waiter was super friendly but the food wasn't anything special in my opinion. I have definitely had better bimbibap. I was super excited to try Dolsot Bistro because I actually really enjoy Bimbibap, but it was a little disappointing. I ordered the Beef Bimbibap and my friend ordered the Chicken Bimbibap. They started by bringing the side garnishes out first. The garnishes were pretty good, but the overall dish was pretty bland and boring. There was honestly nothing special about it. The beef wasn't as soft as I would have liked it and it could have used a little more seasoning. Overall, the Bimbibap at Dolsot Bistro wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything to call home about. read more

Drove by this place and it piqued my interest as I'm always interested in good, Korean food, having been to Korean House and Riverside Korean. First impression: very nice, and cozy restaurant. Intimate place, perfect for a quiet dinner date, or even for a small gathering of friends or family. Service was efficient, courteous with an easy smile. Throughout my meal, the waiter was always checking to make sure we had enough water, or if we had any questions about the food (or any additional requests). Also noticed the other waitresses were performing the same level of service as ours which is superb. The food came out promptly, nice and hot. If you enjoy Korean food, the bulgogi is delicious. The bibimbap is also very tasty. Had fried mandu as an appetizer and the presentation is artistic and mouth watering. The only small downside is you do pay for the quality of food, but it is definitely worth it. Is it better than Riverside Korean? Hard to tell, honestly, as I think it ends up coming down to a personal taste decision. Dolsot is definitely worth a try (as well as your future patronage). read more

Best Korean in the area by far! Restaurant is clean and comfortable inside. We were sat fairly quickly for a Friday night. We got the kimchi jjiggae ($16) and the jjam ppong ($19). They were both delicious! Wonderfully flavorful and spicy. We did get banchan with the dishes to split as well. There were so many dishes on the menu we wanted to try. I've been here a couple of times and it's consistently good. I've always liked Sungs restaurant downtown too - and there are many similarities, including the Korean appetizers to start (most of which are yummy) and the Bimbop bowls (which are very tasty). Very poor service. The food didn't taste right. We've been here and ordered before. Owner was very rude and dismissive (mostly, because we were women) he was pissed we said it didn't taste good, and ignored us. His excuse was that he's short staffed and he told his wife to check on us. We will not be back. Arguing with your clientele goes way past unprofessional! read more

Got to try a fun new place for lunch. I Do like stone bowls! The one I tried a few years ago was so bland. I guess it needed this awesome chili paste! One of my new favorite Korean spots in Cincinnati! So glad to have discovered this gem that recently opened, thanks to fellow foodie friends :) The interior looks super nice - sleek, modern, pretty light fixtures, choiceful art hung upon the walls. The owner came out and pointed out the fact that the wooden pieces hung on one of the walls were actually used cutting boards, which we never would have noticed, but thought was quite an interesting idea. The service is excellent! The staff is all very attentive and friendly, and several of the members came out and chatted with our table to make sure we were having the best possible experience (and we certainly were). At one point, at a different table, there was a baby that knocked over one of the decorative bowls and immediately started crying - one of the waitresses hurried over to comfort him and reassure the family. That's the kind of service I'd look for anywhere I go! Onto the food - we were all extremely pleased with our orders. Naturally, most of my friends ordered different dolsot bowls (how can you NOT, with the restaurant named the way it is?!) - I got the dolsot kimchi & pork belly, which was flavorful and delicious. I tried a bit of my friend's dolsot eel, which I thought was amazing (and I'll probably order it next time I come back). One additional note - it was my friend's birthday, and they brought out a gorgeous slice of cheesecake for her topped with a candle, and with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate (I assume that's what it said...or maybe it was just pretty gibberish that looked like Korean?!) My wife and I are relatively new to Korean food, although we've been to two other Korea restaurants in the tristate area over the years Dolsot Bistro has become our favorite. The owner is a very nice, kind gentleman who is friendly and always willing to educate you about Korean cuisine. With his help we've been able to try many of their dishes. Not being Korean I can not vouch for their authenticity but everything my wife and I have tried has been delicious! This is a place people should definitely try, it is very much worth it. Man, this meal was great. So my boyfriend and I came here for the first time. I can't say we've been to any place like this. The six side dishes that come with the dolsot dinners came out first, we tried each one and liked them all. We both got the stir fried dolsot dinner with brown rice, he had chicken and I had the shrimp. It was served in the stone bowl and we mixed it up ourselves (the waiter also offers to mix it up for you). We were warned that the rice will get hot and he recommended putting some on the plate and eating from there. We kept stirring the rice in the bowl as well since you can still see it cooking which allows it to get crunchy. We both loved this place and are already planning our next dinner there. I also liked that the owner, Sung, came by to check on the table. Just wonderful service all around. They also had a nice wine selection. read more

Excellent hot stone bowl, welcoming staff (and kind even after my friend and I overstayed reasonable dining time OOPS!), clean restrooms, kitchen, and bathroom. I think menu prices online are incorrect by a dollar or two? And, to me at least, it wasn't clear what protein resulted in an upcharge? I wasn't worried as my main goal was the hot stone bowl - no matter the cost. Also, I think they have a secret house sauce, definitely ask for it - it's AMAZING! TL;DR: decent enough to satisfy my desire for Korean food, but overpriced for an underwhelming meal (2.5/5 stars) I was in the area and wanted some food from the motherland. A highly rated Korean restaurant nearby? It didn't take me long to check it out. I ordered the fried mandu and sundubu jigae. The food didn't take long, and the restaurant itself was clean and modern. Can't speak on the service since I ordered takeout, but the servers seemed nice. The absence of Korean employees gave me some reservations, but I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Fried mandu: pretty tasty but... comparable to frozen mandu from a Korean grocery store (maybe that just shows how good frozen food has become??). They were cold by the time I ate, but that's what I get for getting takeout. Sundubu jigae: I ordered this spicy, and instead I got the most bland jigae I've ever had. The veggies also weren't what you typically find in the dish, so it didn't taste very "Korean" to me. It's a shame, since this is usually one of my favorite dishes. I can't imagine what a mild/medium order would taste like... Maybe I didn't try their best dishes? Maybe the kitchen had a bad day? I can't say, but I do know I wouldn't eat there again. read more
