Midway through my meal, they came around to light a candle at the table, which added such an intimate touch, and gave cozy date night energy in the best way. In fact, I believe I was sitting next to a couple having their first date. 2. Plating (4.5/5) The presentation did not disappoint. Everything came out looking polished and thoughtfully arranged. The edamame stood out because they generous with the flaky salt, which I personally loved. Sometimes places hold back, but this was well seasoned. 3. Customer Service (2.5/5) This is where things started to fall apart a bit. I stood at the front for about 12 minutes before being acknowledged, and the restaurant was nearly empty. I had to make eye contact with someone in the kitchen just to be seated. Service at the table wasn't much better. It took about 15 minutes just to get my drink order taken (which I had to flag the waitress down to order), and by that time I was ready to order my whole meal. I ordered an appetizer along with a couple of sushi rolls and some sake. I'm not sure if the waitress wasn't thinking about it, but she brought my rolls out before she even brought out my appetizer or my drink. The inconsistency was noticeable and took away from the experience. 4. Overall Taste (4.5/5) The food absolutely carried! I ordered a sweet potato roll and the Hoonie Roll, which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Both were fresh, flavorful, and really well-balanced. Domo has been one of my favorite sushi spots. I love the cozy vibes in there. Service is quick and I've never had a bad waiter/waitress there. The food comes out pretty quick considering they are making the sushi by order. I love their sushi options. Honestly, this was one of the best meals I have had in a while. I only ordered 2 appetizers, the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the Wagyu Yaki Tori with a hot green tea, but the flavor of everything was incredible. We were able to find parking off High Street with no issue. They certainly cram people in like sardines at this location. We waited a little bit for the next table to leave as they had us ready to sit next to the doorway which seemed a little chaotic. The service had no issue with that. We ordered a bottle of wine and the crab rangoon. I can't believe how good it was. I would have ordered two more orders and not thought twice about it. I went to Domo for a friend's birthday dinner and enjoyed my time overall. I'm giving my experience a 4/5 stars for the following reasons. The decor/ambiance is fairly upscale and I really appreciated the tableware (unfortunately I failed to take photos). It's a smaller dining room and can become quite loud, so be prepared if you're looking for a more relaxed or expansive environment. Their drink selection is great. We enjoyed several different cocktails, a refreshing Japanese seltzer, and, of course, soju. The menu is huge and has all of the sushi staples you'd expect. My spicy salmon and hamachi rolls tasted fresh and weren't overly pricey. Our server was very friendly and gave us good guidance on what to order; however, I did feel that the visits to the table took longer than they should have. Those at our table who ordered hot food waited much longer than I would have expected. Some items beyond the traditional rolls can become pricey. It's not like your strip mall sushi spot. It's really beautiful inside... exposed brick, cherry blossoms and large koi fish lanterns hanging from the ceiling, art on the walls, a large open kitchen with a sushi bar, and a couple televisions. The service was also top notch. We had a reservation and were seated right away and our server was friendly, attentive, and kindly answered any questions we had. We decided to share the veggie gyoza and it made for a great starter. I had ordered this when I got my meal to go and the dine in version was definitely better. I wanted to try a variety of their menu items so I ordered the tofu bento box and let me tell you, it was so much food, I couldn't finish it all. It came with crispy tofu, stir fry veggies, a california roll, miso soup, a house salad, two shrimp, veggie tempura, spicy cucumber, potato bokkeum (pan fried potatoes), and a spring roll. All of this was only $19.95. Holy cow! The miso soup, salad, shrimp, veggie tempura, and spring roll were my favorite. The front dining area is divided into two parts: a few tables are against a brick wall on one side and then more tables scattered on a raised platform. Our table was a four top against the wall, and it felt... well, a little cramped... I will say, I strongly disliked our table location and the size of the table itself. Small. So cramped. We probably would of ordered a boat of sushi, but seriously where would it go? How would we eat comfortably? Now all the tables on the raised platform seemed roomier. Probably because they were not shoved against a wall on one side nor had the main traffic route on the other (like ours). The food: my party of four ordered six cocktails, two appetizers, six rolls and a bento box... to give you an idea of cost: with tip about 325 ish. I dont mind paying that if I loved every bite.... But after thinking about this for two days... I didnt love every bite. I felt like the sushi wasn't balanced - meaning, the main ingredient flavor was lost as the other ingredients over took my rolls. The cocktails (15 bucks each) were excellent. We were celebrating my cousin getting a new job so we ordered a round of drinks including wine and three cocktails including the Lychee & Melon Smash, Hibiscus on High and the Lychee martini. My cousin really liked the Lychee & Melon Smash but the Lychee martini was mostly alcohol so harder to drink. For appetizers, everyone on here recommended getting the Crispy Rice and it did not disappoint. It is gently fried rice bites, avocado, scallions, with sweet soy (choice of spicy crab, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, or yellowtail). We got both spicy crab and spicy tuna. I loved the spicy tuna one. My cousin also got the wings but I don't know the specific name for them. After eating the wings, he ordered the seaweed salad as well. For sushi, we ordered Spicy salmon, Spicy tuna, Spicy scallop, and Sunrise. My favorite was the Spicy Scallop roll was very good with Kani, avocado, topped with baked scallops, and tempura flakes. The other rolls were good but not amazing which is disappointing as I was looking for a new go-to sushi place. The nigiri was very bad, the pieces tasted old and gross. I could taste the subtle tartness of the lime, the sweetness of the melon calpico, and the hint of lychee hovering underneath. I could taste the alcohol, but it wasn't too strong for my liking.
