The food was good overall, but I left feeling disappointed by the value. I expected either larger portions or lower prices. The $35 beef bulgogi was barely enough for one person and only came with a small serving of banchan. We also ordered the edamame appetizer, which was $9 and seemed like a very basic from-frozen preparation. The atmosphere was a bit odd as well. There's a large fish tank in the middle of the restaurant, but it didn't have any fish in it, which made the space feel unfinished. Service also fell short. We had to flag our waitress down multiple times, and she only checked on our table once during the meal. The service is important part of our culture. The lady who serves is so kind with a genuine smile. Even when she is serving so many customers, she manages to bring smile to those who she serves. Her kindness rubs off onto her customers - at first I was not used to her being so kind - but she has a way for opening up her sincerity. My wife and I am now a regular customer at Silla. Sometimes my food may come out late, but I come to enjoy the energy and vibe by many young college students, and savor the food as it is prepared the way it should be. This is a literal hidden gem in Upper Arlington! It is located in a shopping center down a walkway behind a chain Asian restaurant. Restaurant Silla is true quality Korean food served in an establishment with relaxing decor and service from the heart. Moon, the owner of Restaurant Silla, was present for our dinner and made sure every guest enjoyed her excellent cuisine by being very attentive and welcoming. Her Bulgogi is the best we have ever had as well as her take on Chicken Frid Rice. I am definitely getting the Chop Chai at our next visit! I like the seafood pancakes a lot the softshell crab was also very good although a little on the fried side. Their Galbi Jjim was excellent. The meat was fall off the bone tender. The Haesanmul Jjim was spicy but a reasonable level. The flavors were deep and delicious. It's been a while since we've been here. The ambiance under the new owner is completely different now. First timer at this well thought of Korean destination. It's "down the alley" in this strip center, with no street frontage presence. Take note. Some of their features: Open late, #1 karaoke bar, super helpful owner and staff, huge menu, great food. Owner was very helpful in the ordering process; and they force you to use a QR code to order. Everything we ordered was great, and the kimchi pie was unique. Beer and wine is self serve out of the coolers. We left before karaoke kicked in, but it was very crowded when we left at 830. Late night food just hits different and this meal was absolutely hitting the spot. Soondae (Korean blood sausage) is one of my favorite things to eat and luckily I was able to get soondae stew at a local Korean restaurant. Although I'm not big on other pig intestines in my soup, owner encouraged us to get it and surprisingly it wasn't too bad. If you like chewy textures then I recommend giving the full experience a try! If you're less experimental with your food choices then you can't go wrong with the Korean fried chicken. It was crispy and coated with a savory, slightly sweet sauce. The fried soft shell crab was so good. It had tender and savory meat on the inside and the seasoning was amazing. I liked it even better than the fried chicken! This place has been around forever. It opens late for karaoke as well so it's great for people who want to hang out and drink with decent food. They also have weekday & Saturday specials. The ajumma who greeted us at the door and seated us was very friendly. Shout out to Susan! The gentleman who waited on us was friendly, but a little bit more reserved and we really didn't see much of him. I would say that the service was a little slow that day because we had to ask for rice twice, & there was a misunderstanding, whether or not they had purple rice...which they called brown rice? That was weird. I was also told to just go and get my own drinks from the coolers. They brought out our water in paper cups, which was also kind of weird. Their ordering system is from a tablet at your table. I like the efficiency of it, but it took a little bit of the personal touch out of my dining experience. I came with a few people who had never been to the restaurant and they had questions so it was harder to get them answered with the tablet ordering system. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was good. The bibimbop did not have the sizzling Crunchy rice at the bottom so I think the hot stone was not hot enough when it was brought out. That's the main reason you get bibimbop, so no bueno. The Bulgogi was also a smaller portion than it looks in the pictures. I probably wouldn't order those two things next time. I would say the Bonchon is on par with some of the other Korean places around town so nothing really special & tgey were a bit less generous in their portioning of them compared to similar places. Everything has always been consistent though and a true staple for Korean food. I came here a couple of years ago and didn't have a fantastic experience with the staff but I think there is a new owner who has revamped the place. The interior is very cute with lights and a karaoke stage. My family and I enjoyed the food and the staff was very helpful. Came here with a friend and ordered the bulgogi and a sushi roll. The bulgogi was overpriced, small, and tasted more like grilled beef with barbecue sauce than authentic bulgogi. After a few bites, we politely asked to return it, but the server--who seemed annoyed--claimed he asked the kitchen, but we saw that he did not go back to ask. He ignored us the rest of the visit and offered no alternatives or chance to speak with a manager. The sushi chef was kind, but the owner repeatedly insisted her bulgogi was the best and refused to comp it. We paid for everything but our soda. Including the uneaten bulgogi--but won't be back. Haven't been back to Restaurant Silla for ages and had some great time dinning in. The set up inside is quite different from what I remember. Right when you entered the restaurant, there is some beautiful décor. They also have a karaoke bar on the side as well. Once you get seated, you will scan the QR code at the table and order through the phone. I did noticed some place start having a similar pattern. I assume that would take some load off from the staffs. The food come fairly quick and the owner actually come periodically to check up on me. We ordered Beef Soon Tofu and Chicken Yakisoba and the food was great. I would say for Soon Tofu specifically, it is better than Min Ga and Song tofu in the area. They are also generous with the banchan refills. I asked for extra fishcakes for my son and they gave us 3 servings at once. We arrived towards the end of lunch. Far from being an annoyance, we were welcomed, and at the end of the meal, encouraged to stay for ginger tea, chatting with the owner while the staff took break. She is extremely kind and personable, making us feel very at home there. She has had the business for only 3 months, so it's still changing. but it's all ready far better than it was previously.. She showed us a huge eel being marinated, not yet on the menu ("spicy eel"). The prices were a little off-putting but I am realizing, in this time of post lock down destruction, they are going to be if you want quality food. And what quality it was. From the perfectly grilled salty mackeral, with the crispy edges of skin, to the delicious eel dish we had that was sweet and savory,making every bite another explosion of flavors. The ribs, everything we had was absolutely top notch. The stone bowl dishes had wonderfully crispy rice to compliment the luxurious toppings. My only, very minor, complaint was that we only recieved 4, smaller than usual portions of ban chan. I agree with another reviewer that the kimchee is far better than the usual, and it had the best marinated seaweed I can remember ever having, but a greater variety would have a been nice. My favorite authentic Korean restaurant in all of Columbus. I love everything about this place! The Ajumma who I think runs this place is the sweetest lady ever who treats you like family. This restaurant is so wholesome and welcoming because of that. On top of that, the food is phenomenal. I say phenomenal because I've been here multiple times, ordered different things, and have never once been disappointed. The chef here does an amazing job as everything is always so flavorful and tasty! I also love that they have nightly karaoke... How fun is that?! Food and a show/entertainment. Such a fun place to be especially during a late night dinner and if you want to grab drinks/soju over a meal with friends. Only complaint I have is that it may be slightly understaffed on some nights, thus making it slow. I've been here several times before and I'm sure I wrote a review- I remember describing the weird alley location, as others have. Oh well, reason enough to go back and check it out. They seem to have added more signage since my last visit. There are two signs out by the parking lot, so no more guessing if you're in the right place. And there are lights and a lighted sign over the door. Can't miss it now. Inside, it's nice, if nothing spectacular. Large open room, a stage at one end, bar on the side. Coming at 10pm on a Saturday I expected a big crowd, dark room, maybe karaoke, but nope. Brightly lit, a few other tables, no singers. I overordered, because everything sounded good. I've had the standards before and they were awesome, so I dug a little deeper. Started with the Silla Unagi (which actually came last.) Several crispy-tender pieces of eel, cooked just right, each on a toothpick with a chunk of avocado and some cream cheese. A bit awkward to eat, but delicious. The banchan came out first, of course, and each one was great. None were very spicy. I could make a meal out of banchan. Main course was the Yangnyom chicken. I've had Korean chicken before, but not like this, just plain. This looks like sweet and sour chicken, but it's not. Maybe it's a relative. Crispy, double-fried chunks of good chicken, in a clear red sauce. I thought it might be spicy, but it's not, at least to me. Maybe a tiny bit of heat, sweet, tangy, excellent over rice (they bring a little container of perfect rice.) Huge portion. I knew as soon as everything came out that I'd need a box. I had the leftovers for lunch the next day and still had some left after. Prices were great, service was excellent, there are a ton of interesting things on the menu, so I'll be back. read more

Hard to find a decent mix of korean and japansese fare. This resturaunt is down a well lit alley and frankly surprised my mate and myself. Not much of a resturaunt to look at from the street however thats not their fault, building placent isnt ideal.. inside it is warm, clean, and very appealing. Pictures adorn the walls in a very eastern fashion, tables are clean with a qr code designated on each one for ordering to your table directly. I read one review who said the service was sub par however i learned easily that its because they didnt realize how to order your meals. Scan the qr, and the entire physical menu, as well as sushi menu are available at your fingertips. The galbi (la short ribs) were simply the best galbi ive had in columbus to date, savory and perfectly seasoned. The seaweed salad arrived with a lovely presentation of crab meat laid across it. The miso soup at 3 dollars couldnt be beat, and the tofu was amazing. The girlfriend had a hot pot / silla bowl that was still sizzling 30 minutes into the meal and was the perfect blend of toasted rice and seasonings, large mushrooms and prepared beef and vegetables. We ended the night with a glass of plum wine, although sake and other imported beers were avaipable. Large screens surrounded a stage in which kareoke is avaivable, and their kitchen closes at midnight every night. Bathrooms are clean and tidy, and the grout lines look as if they had the tile installed yesterday, honestly it was cleaner than my house. Ordered a lunch special for pickup on Saturday via one of the third-party service apps (Fantuan). When I arrived, the restaurant owners told me that the price was too low and they would not make the food. The order was for a LA Galbi lunch special for $18. Each one of their online partners lists the same price. The two front of house informed me that: A: the LA Galbi is supposed to be $30, B: the lunch special is only Monday-Friday, and C: they don't take discounts (Fantuan advertised a 10% discount for Pickup orders). Now I am waiting for the delivery partner to contact the restaurant and ask to explain the situation.
