My boyfriend and I have walked past this spot many times and have never thought to check it out. But I'm glad we did! The staff were nice and service was fast. The place was clean and cozy. Domo is the place to go if your looking for a good deal on sushi. The owner and her husband are nice and she always takes care of us. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating. I'm glad you can finally dine in again. They have a couple of lunch specials under $20, which is right up my alley. Plus if you spend $20+ you get a free volcano roll. I got the chicken katsu with miso soup and salad, spring rolls, and a volcano roll for only $26... Yay!!! The food was pretty good. My kids enjoyed their meals as well. I came during the afternoon on a Tuesday to get some schoolwork done and I had a pleasant experience. The food was amazing and quick and so was the service. The sushi is consistently amazing and they almost always include a free roll. The employees are very kind and soft spoken. I cannot express how much my husband and I loved our first visit to this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing- the best Japanese food we've had since our trip to Japan. Every time my coworkers come with me here to lunch, we always joke about how there are very little customers eating there at the time. It's never packed, and that's not a bad thing after all. The service is always good, and the bento box is where the value is at. You get your two rolls, pineapple, two or three Crab Rangoon, soup, AND salad. SOLD! More like 3.5 because I don't think you should spend 2 hours at any sushi restaurant... Which is what happened to us on a slow night. It has been about 9-10 years since I've been here so essentially it's "my first time" and I brought my son this time just to try some place new. Ambiance is nice, modern, and pretty clean. There were only a handful of parties when we arrived late but the waitress and I'm assuming owner perhaps? were very friendly and efficient. I liked the cut of fish and everything tasted great and presented well. My son's Chirashi was the last to come out though but he killed it. There were (3) 2-roll specials for $20 that came with salad, miso soup, and 4 Crab rangoons. I chose the Combo B special that offered spicy rolls. I didn't care for the salad, to be honest. Not sure if it was the greens they used or the flavor of the dressing. I kind of pushed that bowl to the side after a couple bites. Miso soup was standard but the crab rangoons were yummy and perfect! For appetizer we ordered the shrimp tempura but they also threw in a cucumber salad on the house.... Then a Christmas tree roll on the house... Then after dinner vanilla ice cream mochi on the house. It was a lot of food so I was able to take home a full to-go container! I only managed to eat half of each of my rolls and I even shared a couple with my son! They also had a $5 off special if you spend $20 or more but it turned out the 10% off Yelp Check-In was a better deal for me. In the end, it was a pleasant visit and dinner. This was my first time ordering from Domo. Admittedly Flaming Japan was closed (who closes on a Tuesday) Ugh.. but I was jonesing for some sushi And hibachi chicken teriyaki. So the next closest restaurant that sold it was Domo. I figured hey I'll give them a try as long as the sushi is fresh it should satiate my craving! And boyyyy did it! I can't believe a sushi spot this great was so close to me all these years and I never knew! Dare I say it was Better than Flaming Japan not that they set the standard or anything but I was delighted with my entire experience... so here goes.. Its 130pm ish on a Tuesday... immediately when I walk up I notice a sign that says no eat in, take out only, must wear a mask when entering. I walk up to the hostess/cashier stand and there is a big tub of hand sanitizer, two cups for clean or used pins, the two ladies working were double masked, the restaurant smelled clean and they had people's orders lined up neatly for pick up. I ordered the lunch special two rolls the super duper and the rainbow. They also give you a free volcano roll if your order is over $20. Included in the lunch special was miso soup for $8.95. I also ordered (don't judge me) a chicken teriyaki hibachi lunch special $15.99. Now y'all I know it's a bit pricey but-- the food was so fresh and hot, they had everything individually wrapped so neat- including the wasabi, ginger and soy sauce- it was Totally worth the splurge I was able to eat on the food for three days. Very good sushi. Ordered take out, said it would take about 10 minutes, but it took at least 20. Ordered some miso soup, spicy tuna rolls, volcano rolls, a Valentine roll, and submarine roll. They had out some daily specials and thought it would only be for dine in; 2 volcano rolls for $10 and orders over 20$ get another volcano roll free, but it came with the order. It's just about average. Everything tastes pretty good and the prices are on par with other local sushi places. Take out orders usually take 5 minutes longer than they tell you. About half of the rolls we get are wrapped pretty loosely so they don't quite hold together. They still taste good, but it's a little more difficult to eat. They do not honor the 10% Yelp check in coupon that is listed as one of their deals. Judging by other reviews and tips, they have not honored that discount since at least 2018. read more

I come here quite often and what I notice the most is how the service is rapidly declining. Rapidly. My most recent visit was a horrifying experience. My total order was 4 rolls and fried rice. No exaggeration, we waited for an hour. One hour. On a Thursday night. They had ONE waitress for the entire restaurant! The sushi chef nonchalantly forgot all about us. Finally, my baby was over it and even my 5 year old daughter was ready to bounce. Give me a break, Domo. Either get proper help or close it down. We stopped in on a whim to grab a quick lunch. I was already craving sushi and just happened upon this spot because it was in the shopping center. It was during the week around lunch time so it was pretty empty inside. We ordered one spicy tuna roll and one volcano roll (they offer several half off specials and this was one of them). In my opinion the portions were awfully small for the price. It was about a 15 minute wait for the rolls so we shopped around the plaza and then came back to pick up our food. It wasn't until we got home hat I realized how small the portions were. I don't live in Virginia Beach, but if I did I would probably not come back. The rolls were just meh and left nothing to be desired. Since we did not dine in I cannot comment on service but the cashier/hostess did lack personality. We waited forever for our order to be taken. (My husband and I decided to leave because we felt like we were in the twilight zone). We came here by chance it was by my dad's new physical therapy place. We came for lunch and it was relatively quiet here. Everyone was welcoming and nice.food was very good and fresh. We notched another chapter in our Virginia Beach "Strip Mall Sushi" Chronicles last night with a visit to Domo. Overall, its nothing spectacular. The cuts of fish on my nigiri pieces were on the small side (i.e. failed the drape test) and fairly unexciting on the palate. My wife did a couple of their spicy rolls and while they were edible, they weren't memorable at all. The appetizers were a bright spot, though. They offer a good sized Hamachi Kama and the fried oysters were fresh, piping hot and delicious. We should have stuck with just a couple more orders of apps and it would have been a better night. Cons: According to our waiter, if you have a groupon you cannot get the managers special although it says on their wall "50 % off volcano roll and Honolulu roll at all times everyday."
