Finally checked out Charleston's with the husband. Our kids were with their grandparents so we decided to enjoy a happy hour dinner at the bar. We didnt know what to expect as we have never been to a Charleston's. It was nice, clean, and fancier than I thought it would be. The bartender was friendly and attentive and we were served right away. They have really good happy hour drink deals. 8 diff cocktails all $8 each. I got the crisp martini and my husband got the old fashioned. Both were good but the old fashioned was a little too sweet. For our appetizer we got the shrimp carrot which was super buttery and cheesy. We also split the flat iron steak special. We ordered it medium rare and it was more of a medium well. It was on the salty side and the steak had the same texture as ham or like a school lunch meat....something about it reminded me of a jerky too. It was interesting and didnt taste bad but unlike any steak texture I've ever had. It cost $29 so wasn't expensive for a steak but I guess we should've gone next door to Mahogany Prime if we wanted good steak or even Texas Roadhouse up the way. Even though we were disappointed with the steak we still had a great time. Will def come back and try a salad or the chicken piccata. Based on the steak, I would give the review a 3 but bc everything else was great, leaving it at a 4 bc I think we just ordered the wrong thing. read more

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this restaurant. I ordered a margarita with no salt, but it was brought out with a salted rim, and I can see that salt dripped into the drink. I asked for it to be remade. What happened next was unacceptable. I watched the waitress take the drink back to the bar, where the bartender (with his hair parted in the middle) poured the margarita out of and over the salted rim, into a different glass instead of making a new one. That same drink was then brought back to me. This isn't just poor service, it's a serious health and safety concern for me. There is a reason I asked for no salt. Rather than admitting a mistake and correcting it properly, they chose to cut corners and hope I wouldn't notice. If I hadn't seen it happen, I would have unknowingly consumed something I specifically asked to avoid. There were other issues during the visit, but this alone is enough to ensure I won't be returning. Trust is critical when dining out, and unfortunately, this experience showed that it's lacking here. read more

My family used to come eat here in person (at the original location at boys town exit) for years when I was in high school so I have fond memories for deeper reasons than most. But the food continues to evolve - yet stay the same - when it should. Today I tried the Dynamite Shrimp Salad (normally I get the Caesar or Cobb -- both equally delish) and I was blown away. Seriously new fave salad. You can test the waters by ordering the shrimp app first. If you like that and greens - get this salad!! You will not be disappointed. ALWAYS get an extra side of the croissants or you WILL be mad at yourself. They are continually soft, sweet and worth the extra money. Other family faves are kale salad, Walt's salad, ribs (!!), baked potato soup and their glazed carrot side. I haven't eaten in house for years so can't comment on service, but remember it being awesome when we would dine in. read more

Absolutely the best!! From the wait staff to the dessert, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! We were seated right away, got some fantastic drinks (blackberry mule & lemon drop martini were fabulous!), appetizers were great, salads served with a fresh croissant, the steaks were perfection and the corn was crisp, sweet and delicious! What a fantastic place to eat dinner! I went with a group of friends before a fancy event and it was such a great experience. The place was clean, fancy enough for dresses but also not too fancy where you can't wear jeans and a t shirt. The waiter was so friendly. The food was great but the queso was exquisite!! Charlestons has been my go-to steak spot for over 20 years Through the years management has changed, locations have changed but the food has always remained the same high quality. I always get the filet with a baked potato and house salad with their home-made blue cheese dressing. I promise you'll never have blue cheese dressing better than theirs. You won't find a better made baked potato with perfect crispy, salty skin. You won't find a better prepared steak. And lastly you won't find a nice big flakey, buttery croissant with honey drizzled on top like charlestons The only negative I will give is I miss the ambiance of the older location. It was dimly lit and had a cozier family vibe compared to the new brightly lit more open, modern design Other than that all of their food is top notch. Charleston's has been my family's go-to "what should we eat for dinner" restaurant since I've been a kid. I was sad to see it leave the old location, but I was happy to hear they were keeping the same menu. My husband and I visited the new location last week and had a really good meal. We started with the chips and queso, which I had never had, but it was great - a little spicy! I had a chicken and avocado club. This was a nice, large portion and tasted light and fresh. My husband had the enchilada plate, and he was also impressed by his meal. The only note I have is the ambiance - it is LOUD. I feel like the dark, moody feel of the old building inherently lent itself to using quieter voices, but the bright, new location does not. I hope the invest in some kind of noise-reducing infrastructure, because I know I'm not the only person to notice the voice level. read more

My hubby works right across the street and I have never been to Charleston's. Well, what can I say? It's beautiful in the restaurant our waiter was friendly, outgoing and pretty cool. Lunch was delicious. Lots of options to choose from and they sometimes have promotions. I had gotten a sandwich and it was pretty big so I was only able to eat one half, but I had something for later. I got home, my son saw the box and I got suckered out of the other half. On Monday evening, my husband and I took our kids (19 & 23 years old) to Charleston's for dinner after Christmas shopping. I was told there would be a 10 to 15 minute wait, but as soon as we checked in, they told us a table was available for us. That was a nice surprise! The interior of the restaurant is very classy and pretty. We were seated at a booth, which had a view of the kitchen. It is kind of fun to see the chefs working on their dishes. I ordered the roasted chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Their glazed carrots are my absolute favorite! The chicken was very juicy and tender and the mashed potatoes had a bit of a garlic flavor which I enjoyed. My husband got the French dip and said it was very good. My daughter ordered a salad with chicken on top and it was huge! She could not eat it all. My son got the Reuben and fries. He said the sandwich was excellent; he did note that the Reuben sauce had bits of celery in it, which is not his favorite, but he still said it was good. All of the food I saw servers bring past our table looked delicious as well. This was not our first trip to Charleston's, and it most certainly will not be our last. read more

I've probably be here 6-10 times. I don't think I have much cons to say. I love Charlestons. It's has been one of my favorite date night places. It's not to expensive but still more on the high end. Service has always been good. Food is always wonderful. No complaints. Obviously things go wrong everywhere so I'm not saying it won't here but just saying I've always had a good experience. As always, the food was very good. The atmosphere is pleasant as well. Unfortunately I was taken aback by the service. The constant attention by our server and a person who appeared to be a manager wanting to clear our unfinished appetizers and being made to feel like problem customers when we preferred not to order dinner combined to make the evening less pleasant. We were in the bar area, we each had a couple of drinks and appetizers. It was disappointing to feel rushed and pushed to wrap it up. Surprised by lunch today, and not in a good way. We started with the potato soup which did not disappoint us - it's always great! The french dip sandwich, however, has changed - once our favorite, it now features stringy beef that is tough to chew, resembling the meat in frozen dinners from 30-40 years ago and with little or no seasoning; the French fries tasted like frozen potatoes that had been in the freezer too long: bland and soft.
