Service was horrible--there were two heavy set ladies that treated us like trash. Rude, and found a hair on top of our chicken (likely one of the ladies being rude dropped their weave in our food). When told about the hair, the ladies rudely came back with different tortillas and practically threw them on our table, and walked away. Embarrassment to local food culture and etiquette. The two heavy set ladies need to be fired immediately because this is not good for business!!! Beware of the girl with glasses, she has an attitude and has no problem showing you that. Don't believe me, go find out! The other employees were just hanging out on their phones and have what seemed to be their little "bendiciones" hanging out in the restaurant absorbing oxygen. This isn't daycare? Such aggressive employees!! Never going to eat there again. The crazy part is that I love their food, but service is horrible. My family and I enjoy eating locally to support the local economy. The place was OK, chicken was moist but lacked flavor and more char on the skin, at least to my liking. Was really disappointed that they offered no salsa bar, you only get a small container and have to pay if you want more. The green and red salsa are also not very tasty, the red is basically water with some chili flakes. I am surprised that they don't offer better variety of sauces since El Paso taco places are known for this. I know this is not a taco place but I've to other chicken places and they do offer them. I left a 4 star review for Don Carbón at another location describing how terrible their customer service is. The owner reached out to me and told me to her email her (that's kind of awesome), so I put together a well thought out critique of what the issues are and also praised them for their amazing food and motif. I spent my time trying to offer my views (as well as many others) and haven't received any feedback on it, that was a week ago. Their food is amazing. Their motif is great. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL. Their employees have been taught how to cook and clean but beyond that, absolutely NOTHING. I eat here at least once if not twice a week. Not anymore. I. WILL. NOT. BE. COMING. BACK. On Saturday I called in my order for this place and told them I would be there in 15 minutes. I had to give my credit card numbers over the phone which is beyond annoying, but whatever... the food is good I tell myself. I make sure to remind them to include all of my chicken and provide me with a receipt. (I've been missing a leg in 2 of my 3 last orders and if I don't ask for a receipt, I won't get one). I've called to tell them my chicken was missing and I get the "well sir you have to check it before you leave because after you leave we can't do anything". WHAT. AN. ABSOLUTELY. RIDICULOUS. IDEA. I'm expected to open my box while I sit in my car and count 12 pieces of chicken that have been crammed into a single styrofoam box. Absolutely asinine. The food is good I tell myself. I got to the restaurant and pulled up into the clearly labeled "CURBSIDE PICKUP #2" that I've been pulling into for the last 10 months (I always tip $2 in cash for bringing it to my car). I called the location (as I've done for the last 10 months) and told them I had a pickup order for Matt and that I'm waiting out here in the clearly labeled "CURBSIDE PICKUP #2" spot. The lady on the phone says "oh you can just come inside and get your order or wait in the drive thru". I said "I'm sorry, I'm out here in the curbside pickup #2 spot". She said again with a rude tone "oh, we don't do that here... you have to come inside." I HAVE TO COME INSIDE???? So I go inside and I ask for the manager. I explain that I called ahead and that I have a pickup order but when I just called whomever picked up the phone said "we don't do curbside pickup". He said (and I kid you not) "Did you call to let us know you were here when you got here?" I said "I JUST TOLD YOU I JUST CALLED AND THE LADY SAID YOU DON'T DO CURBSIDE PICKUP". He was confused. I then went into how my orders have been wrong previously and I get a "tough luck" because of the sign and now I have to check my 12 pieces of chicken because you guys don't seem to care if it's done correctly or not. He asked if he could count my chicken and then started to open my box with UNGLOVED HANDS. I stopped him and told him I could count my own chicken. (They actually got it right this time). I explained "do you see how all of this is a problem? You guys have amazing food but are absolutely clueless about customer service." The guys only response was "well for next time we make sure we get it right." When I worked in food service for over a decade, and a customer was this upset you try to do something for them. Anything. I didn't want anything free, but for Pete's sake, this is like a slap in the face. "I'm sorry we upset you this time sir and forgot your orders previously, we'll do better next time". What a joke. The managers have no idea how to treat their customers. The employees have no idea how to treat their customers. I'm doubting the owner (who asked me to email her and then never responded) has no idea of how to treat her customers. I loved this place. I really did. I brought everyone I could here. I sang their praises to business associates. I bought and wore a Don Carbón Covid mask. I spent thousands of dollars a year here because the food was so good. Not anymore. I'm done. Love the grilled chicken here. The price range is a bit higher than a fast food place, but then the food, at least the chicken, is also much better. It is surely a keeper for us when I crave for some grilled chicken. It will be great if they can offer some wet napkin packets like those they have at famous dave ;) read more

I love Don Carbon, the food is so fresh and full of flavor. If you haven't tried their French fries, you must, they are the best chain restaurant fries I've ever had!! The fajitas are great and definitely worth sharing, as they give you a large serving. I've tried a few items, I've never been disappointed until this last visit. This location is not my favorite based on consistency and service. The steak tends to be dry, fries served cold and the male associates are not welcoming. Before you even walk in you could smell the grilled chicken. The location seemed welcoming. They offer pick up and they even have a drive thru, so convenient during a lunch break. This time I dined in. As this was my first time here I asked for a chicken quesadilla meal (French fries and fountain drink) for $10. Within 5 mins of sitting one the workers brought over some jalapeños and some salsa which tasted bomb with my food. The quesadilla has a good amount of chicken. I noticed that the chicken was the chicken you buy at the frozen section in the grocery store. I thought it was going to be grilled chicken made there. Which I didn't mind that it wasn't as long as it was good. The only reason why I don't give a five star is because the Chicken was still cold. It was quite disappointing. If you liked Pollo Loco you will love this Don Carbon. The mesquite smoked chicken is delicious and the charro beans make a perfect side dish. If I were allowed a change it would be to add guacamole as a topping. The toppings they provide are good and you can get red/green salsas fir a nominal fee. They offer a good varied menu including burgers, fajitas and salads. The chicken pieces are large and you won't leave hungry. Gotta go back to try the Mexican Chicken Salad. read more

I ordered the three piece chicken plate to go. When the guy handed it to me he asked, "Is this for you?", as if he were expecting to see a truck driver. We all have ordered chicken take out in the three piece size- one piece is good, the next piece has too many bones and the third piece is just for decoration because there is no meat on it. Well I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my box of chicken- these were really nice pieces. The mesquite grilling is amazing! This is a great place if you are on a high protein diet because you can get just chicken. The aroma fills the air and you can smell it from the parking lot. This happened several months ago, yet it still makes me mad when I drive by. It makes me mad because before my last visit, the food was really good and I wish I could go back. But the service I got was among the worse ever and I cannot go back knowing how bad the service might be again. I ordered a #7 with no drink or fries at the drive-thru. The lady asked me if I wanted a #9. I said, no -- I wanted a #7. She asked if I wanted a #3. I said "no. I want a #7, no drink and no fries. She asked me if I wanted a #12. So, I smarted off and said I wanted a #7, and that's the number between 6 and 8." I guess that confused her, but finally she got it right. She then asked was kind of drink I wanted. I said "just the burger by itself. No fries or a drink." She asked confusedly if I wanted a baked potato. Since we both were speaking perfect English, I was assuming the person simply was not paying attention. So, I spoke louder and said "Just the burger! NO fries and NO drink! I got to window and the lady took my payment and told me to park and they will bring the order out. So, I parked. And parked. And stay parked. There was a line of cars going through drive thru. But after a few minutes, they were all served. With nobody waiting for orders at the drive-thru and I still haven't gotten my order yet, I walked inside. One person just laid out a bunch of patties on the grill, another was unfolding the box containers. I told the third person that I am still waiting for my burger. She said I could wait in the car and they will bring it out. I said "No, I will wait here." 30 seconds later, she handed me my burger. I went back to my car, and unwrapped the burger to find it cold! Don Carbón makes some of the tastiest pollo asado (chargrilled chicken to my gringo amigos (friends)) that I've ever tasted, with that perfect char that makes you just want to take a big bite the second it arrives. I usually go for the 3 piece combo which comes with 2 sides and a drink for not a lot of dinero (money). Not only is the chicken great, but the fixings are also terrific, they bring you squared tortillas, pickled onions, hot sauce, and some mean grilled jalapeños, these add-ons are so on point that I'm willing to overlook the fact that they call the tortillas "squared" instead of "square." Alright well my wife and I went into the establishment for dinner on Tuesday. We both ordered a number 3, she got a baked potato and side salad for the sides. I got the charro beans and side salad for my sides. As my wife began to mix her baked potato she noticed a hair under the cheese so we went it back counter and they gave us a new plate. So my wife begins to eat her food and as she finishes up her salad she notices another hair. They have some bomb a$$ chicken here! My favorite are the chicken breast and drumstick. They have a great, smoked flavor. I've been meaning to buy a whole chicken but I haven't yet. Their sides are also pretty tasty. I enjoy their Spanish rice and charro beans. Both are delicious and flavorful. No salt is needed with any of the food I've tried so far. I also liked their steak and cheese filled baked potato! OMG SO SO good! Their salsa and whole jalapeno are also tasty. I forgot to mention their square-shaped corn tortillas...Those are also pretty delish too! They're always served warm and fresh. If grilled chicken isn't your thing, they also offer burgers, fajitas and more. I've also tried the chicken fajitas but prefer the chicken pieces I mentioned. To me, they taste just a tad bit juicier and tender. Another plus for me is their drive-thru service. Be prepared to wait a bit there. It's definitely worth it! I was meeting some friends at Toro burger on Sanland park and noticed the had a don Carbon in the shopping center so we decided to have lunch there. I was really pleased with what I ordered. I got a half chicken with lemon pepper. The tortillas made it even better. I ordered pick up and took it home. Next time I will eat it at the restaurant.
