I have driven past this place for a year - DYING to try it. Today, my curiosity got the best of me and I went. 1 star earned for the amazing server working the phone and the dining room. She was outstanding (I wish I had gotten her name). She moved with purpose, had a smile, and even put up with some generational jokes and banter at the other table with appropriate humor, patience, and without eye rolls. She was great. 1 star earned for clearly being a family place serving the community. There were family holiday cards on the wall upon walking in - perhaps multiple generations of family working in the kitchen, and the place is clearly a source of pride. It is spotless. Recently remodeled in a very safe and neutral tone - but I'd literally eat food off the floor clean. All of the above makes me want to go back soon. And I will. .5 stars earned for BYOB. I do not partake, but when I did "BYOB," I would have loved and appreciated coming here with a bottle of Chianti and enjoyed. Really really great. Earning our final .5 stars, unfortunately, is the food. I happen to be in the business so I was concerned when I saw Restaurant Depot brand plastic wraps and retail store paper plates behind the counter. The soda cooler is also not from a Pepsi distributor as they do not want to deal with cans. So this leads me to they are also purchased retail and stocked. That's not a problem, but it lets me know the through-put does not warrant them getting from a food service distributor who has minimums on weekly orders. I ordered cautiously: a small garden salad (was BEAUTIFULLY plated) was $9!! And wet. Fried calamari (also came to my table with some much hope - it was GORGEOUS) had soggy rings, cold in the middle tentacles, and a tasteless marinara. All of the breading fell off of the wet seafood and I left it on the plate for the kitchen to see and hopefully learn from $13. And a small cheese pizza for $11 that was good. It was light a fluffy which was weird for me. But it was cooked well and was the runner-up highlight of the experience (service was the best). I saw very nice looking pasta dishes go out to tables, so I will Order one next time I go. I don't think the chefs were formally trained based on some of the technique stumbles today and I noticed the pastas that went out to other tables were not tossed in the sauces they were with. The ample accompaniments were plated on top. But I will reserve judgement until I try myself. All in all. It was ok. I'll continue to support the family run place happily as long as the service and effort that was clear today are still there. read more

After walking around on a cold, windy day hot, delicious pizza was perfect! We live supporting small businesses, and this family-owned place fit the bill. You can tell a lot of care and pride go into the preparation of the food. The tables were clean and well cared for, too, which is always appreciated. Great service and prompt delivery of the food. Really love their pizza but im very upset that I have been trying to call and order and no one answers the phone, for days! I assumed they closed permanently, but the gas station across the street says they are still open. So its unfortunate they don't want my business or anyone else who tries to call during their so called business hours. read more

I don't know why I had not gone here sooner! Small, but very clean. All of the food is very good, pizza is the best! Consistency with the meals. Service is good, always friendly and it can get busy with their take out. Family friendly! BYOB which I do enjoy my wine. It's nice to sit where you can't hear the loud bar language with children within earshot, and leave without braking the budget! Only issue I'd say is there isn't enough parking. read more

Pros: Open later, warm food after a cold night shopping in the Bethlehem Christmas craft fair, and easy parking. Goodly portions and enough to split. Cons: Not a lot of flavor to the calzone. I cannot speak for the rest of the menu items, although from the reviews I may have to give them another chance. read more

I went here with my wife and ordered a large cheese pizza. There was no one in the place at the time so our drinks were getting filled up very frequently. I thought this cheese pizza was a perfect cheese pizza. It was very good because it was just the right amount of crunchy but not too crunchy. On top of that the cheese was melted but wasn't too hot and it all stayed on the pizza. I sometimes come here to get the cheeseburger grinder which is burger patties stuffed inside a roll with cheese. This is the only place I know of that makes this unique grinder. read more

"Manicotti and a Musical" We had a party of ten people Saturday night and we needed to find a restaurant fairly close to the Landmark Community Theatre in Thomaston because we had tickets to see the musical "Grease". My sister-in-law chose Don Giovanni's for dinner and it turned out great. Our dinner experience started out a little slow because our waitress was just filling in for someone else that works there. She got thrown to the wolves because she was handling a few tables and then we walked in with our reservations for ten people. But once she got into the swing of it, she did great. Don Giovanni's is BYOB, so we made sure to bring plenty of vino with us. Our salads were fresh and crisp and the tomatoes were red, ripe, and delicious. My wife and I split the fried calamari and fried mozzarella appetizer. Excellent dish and the marinara for dipping was very good. I'm not sure what everyone had for dinner, but Joe C. had the Chicken Parm stuffed Manicotti. Dad had Shrimp Fra Diavolo over linguine, mom had Chicken Florentine over spaghetti, my sister had Penne and Meatballs, my brother-in-law had a small calzone with pepperoni, onions, and extra mozzarella, my wife had the Chicken Francaise, and I had the Baked Ziti Sicilian Style. Ziti baked with mushrooms, eggplant, meatballs, ricotta and mozzarella. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. It was a pleasant surprise to find a great restaurant in the country setting of Morris, CT. read more

So my family and I have tried ~30 pizza joints when we moved to the area a few years ago. After many a dissappointment we ended up at Giovanni's - a place that had been in the area for decades. The decor...yuk. I don't think it's even been painted, never mind remodeled, in thirty years. The presence of racks of produce on the tables just shipped in...ugh. The grease covered menu...boo. Unfortunately these poor decor mistakes cause me to delete a star from an otherwise 4* review. The pizza - EXCELLENT! Crisp light crust, tangy fresh tomato sauce, real garlic - not minced from a jar - exquisite bread, generous portions and low prices. The owner and his family are very warm and friendly. Tried to get Yelp to edit the directions as they are VERY wrong but they declined. Google is correct though, the address is: 227 East St, Morris, CT 06763 Now that you can find it, the food here is fantastic. The select of chicken and veal dishes are extensive and varied. The option to get vegetables instead of pasta is great as well- the veggies vary be what's on hand but they are sauteed in olive oil, garlic and seasoning and are very tasty. Chicken Florentine is egg battered chicken, spinach, sauteed in lemon, butter, white wine sauce , topped with provolone. Absolutely delightful. The Veal Calabrese is outstanding. It's a combo of veal scallopini, sauteed with onions, black olives, artichokes, & marinara. Delicious! House salad comes with the meal and is very standard lettuce & tomatoes with some dressing but the dressing are good enough to make you want to eat the pile of mostly lettuce. The decor is a bit dated and it's situated in the basement by ambiance can't been eaten and if you enjoy a good hole-in-the wall type place definitely check this out. read more

I'm Giving Don Giovannis 5 stars not because it is some culinary find but because it's excellent at what it is. The food is a step above your everyday joint. The dining room is small but relatively quiet. The decor is quaint with framed Norman Rockwell prints. It's a small town so you might run into someone you know. Warm bread is served with plastic butter packets. The food is good, the service is good, the dining room is good. This place is what it is and doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Bring your own alcohol, a good friend or two and enjoy a comfortable, reasonably priced night out. An aside, the dining room is lit with compact fluorescent light bulbs. Although eco friendly, they do not enhance the color of the food. read more

My family and I love this place. Walking in, it's really cute. It's your typical nice/casual pizza place. I've been going her for like my whole life and my family and I love it. First off, I'll begin with how much of a cozy feel there is when you sit down. You can bring in your own beer or wine, if you choose to. We ordered the white pizza with broccoli, garlic, ricotta, and bacon. Very delicious pizza! Wait time was normal for a pizza to cook and service was perfect. I highly recommend this place to anyone passing in the area, or just recently moved near by, if you want a nice cozy dinner date. read more

Started eating at Giovanni's after using them to cater a party we hosted last year. Although the restaurant is small and nothing fancy in decor, I found the food to be fresh, delicious, and the specials are always very good. Their pizza is a nice thin crust and the selection of food is quite extensive for a small restaurant....pricing is very reasonable. It is a great family owned restaurant, but unfortunately no liquor license, so BYOB if you want some beer or wine. read more

HORRIBLE! The wings had no sauce, the eggplant rollatini's had no flavor and it seemed like someone coated the eggplant, stuffed the cheese and baked it without ever FRYING the eggplant. The pizza crust was good, but too thin and underdone in the middle. The artichoke hearts had no flavor, neither did the pizza sauce. I don't understand how people can call themselves a restaurant that do worse than chef-boy-ardee. How they stay in business I'll never know. Oh - and those free cookies the previous reviewer wrote about - crumbled to dust as soon as you unwrap them. What a joke!
