The prime rib here was the best. The price wasn't too bad either. I came in because I had a steeak craving and wanted a good tender prime rib that was cooked to perfection. The inside was kind of dark and seemed alittle rustic. There were a lot of booths so if you like booth seating this is a good place. Servers were nice. They brought out a whole load of bread just for my party of 1 which was nice. I ordered the prime rib with 2 sides and a salad. Everything was good and it came out pretty fast too. I think the server said they cut me a size larger by mistake and that I would just be charged for the size I ordered, which was nice. I would definitely come back here. The prime rib was so good. My husband and I love Halls and their restaurants. We spent my birthday dinner here and got some cocktails and finished with dessert! Great way to celebrate! Overall ambience was great, we came on a weeknight and were sat right away. We enjoyed cocktails, cheese curds, prime rib, pork chop, and finished with cheesecake! My husband loved the prime rib and said it was better than Texas Roadhouse! My pork chop could've been better it was cooked a little too long and was dry. I would probably get a steak next time. We come here at least once a week. We usually sit belly up at the bar. We love the service, food, prices, and atmosphere. Nathaniel has most recently been our bartender the past few times and he is quick, efficient, and friendly. Even when the restaurant seems extremely busy he is very attentive. My raspberry chicken was delicious. It made me do the happy dance in my chair. My dinner companions had the prime rib dinners and said they were "cooked to perfection." What a wonderful experience! We hosted a small birthday dinner for my wife's 60th birthday, and it was all we could have asked for and more. My husband and I have been going to Don Hall's Factory for years, it has always been one place we could count on for good quality food at a decent price. Unfortunately, after our visit tonight, we have no interest in returning. With the most recent changes to the menu we noticed a focus on high dollar items. With the original menu items seeing a significant increase in price if they were available at all. We noticed the rueben had significantly less beef and the pistachio crusted walleye with the white sauce has been replaced with an almond-crusted walleye with jalapeño tartar which after trying we sent back, that dish was not made for tartar sauce. Aside from the increased prices and disappointed food exchanges, we were told it would be $4 to split an entree. How is that not illegal? Personally, I feel when a restaurant implements dumb rules like charging $4 for the same amount of food for no good reason they are there for profits, not the customer. We also notice the food took significantly longer than it ever did before, probably because of the higher tier menu items taking longer to prepare. My mac and cheese was cold by the time it came out with my walleye and my soup came after my entree. Overall, the best part of our latest dining experience was our waiter, Karl. He was on top of it! Hall's Factory is one of our favorite restaurants and has never disappointed us in the past. Last evening my selection, the Large Greek Salad, that recently came back on the menu. Several weeks ago, I had this salad and it was fabulous. Last night - not so much. A piece of chicken was an optional addition to the salad. Instead of a piece of sliced grilled chicken breast, they topped the salad with what looked like dog food ( sorry). It was tasteless and tough. Two pieces of fresh pineapple both had a section of the core that I cut off. The rest of the salad and ingredients were fine. My husband ordered the fried fish and it looked and tasted great. Our server was very nice and very friendly. If the salad had been better this would have been a 5 rating. Sorry! I know you can do better. read more

The Factory has been around a long time. It carries a loyal clientele of repeat customers. I haven't been here in a long time . So this was my first time back in decades. No much has changed that I can tell. The restaurant is dated in terms of decor. The place is clean and in good repair. The booths are small for a party of four. The booth was cushy comfortable but uncomfortable because it was so tight. The staff was young and friendly and professional for the most part. The menu is one no page with enough choices to satisfy most parties of people. The prices weren't too bad in this hyper inflationary environment. We started with the table bread. It is kind of like a sour dough with a tad sweeter taste. The bread was a bit crunchy on the outside and a bit softer on the inside. Not bad with butter. Not outstanding though. I chose a side salad with my entree. The salad was fresh but very basic. Not much side veggies to give it pizzazz. The dressing seemed like a purchased item without much flare. My wife really liked the broiled fish and red skinned potatoes. The fish was nicely cooked. My other side was onion rings. I suspect that Halls shares this recipe across their facilities. The onion piece is a bit thin..too thin for me. The batter is a bit thin and very flaky. A tad bit of grease taste and maybe a little seasoning to break up the batter/grease flavor. The prime rib was very good. It was cooked nicely to my medium rare choice. The beef had a good beef flavor without much fat content. It was served with a creamy horseradish sauce instead of a raw horseradish. Overall the Factory is a safe choice of good food. Considered by many of my my local friends and clients to be the penultimate old school steakhouse in Fort Wayne compared to the nearby Cork & Clever. I ended up at the Factory last night as C&C was fully booked. The factory has its own old-school Midwest supper club charm and is a good alternative steakhouse option. I was seated quickly and greeted by my server Karl right away. I ordered a glass of wine from the limited but functional wine list and had bread and butter at my table within moments. as I was in an old-school style steakhouse, I went with the low hanging fruit: I ordered a blue cheese, wedge salad and the smothered sirloin. Some steakhouses have elevated their steakhouse salad wedge with additional components, like bacon crumbles and croutons, but not the Factory. There's is quite literally, a wedge of iceberg lettuce, smothered in blue cheese with two slices of tomato. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing and the blue cheese dressing was actually very good. While Some may take umbrage at the simplicity, it reminds me of going out to steak dinners with my grandparents in supper clubs in upstate New York so I was OK with it. My meal arrived just as I was finishing the salad and I was pleasantly surprised that my smothered sirloin appeared to actually be a smothered tenderloin cut. I ordered the smothered sirloin as it came with mushrooms and onions as well as an herb butter instead of having to order those items à la cart from the menu, which seemed like a good value to me. The fact that it showed up as a tenderloin was a welcome bonus, but if I really wanted a sirloin cut, I suppose I might've been disappointed had I been someone who prefers a sirloin cut. It seemed Like a bit of a curveball to get the wrong cut of meat in a steak house, but personally, it was an upgrade for me so I just enjoyed the steak. The wild rice side dish was delicious as well. My steak was cooked perfectly. The mushrooms and onions were nice addition. I skipped dessert and asked for my check which was delivered promptly. I was surprised to see on my bill that they hadn't charged me for the wedge salad, and Karl reassured me. It was included with the meal so all told for a glass of wine, the smothered sirloin And decent wedge salad was less than $35 for my meal! In this day and age that was very surprising. All in all, there may be more modern versions of steakhouses in Fort Wayne, as well as the venerable, Cork and Cleaver nearby, but I actually enjoy the old-school supper club vibe of Don Hall's factory, the food is good and it's probably the best value for a steakhouse that you will find in Fort Wayne. Yesterday my partner and I stopped by The Factory for lunch after running errands all morning. We were seated quickly, and our server was very attentive. We ordered a couple of drinks and bread with butter was brought out. It was really good! When our artichoke dip appetizer came out, the pita chips were nice and crunchy, but the dip wasn't the greatest. It had very little flavor and seemed to only have spinach underneath a thick crust of cheese on top of it. We couldn't find much cheese in the dip, as is traditional. We considered returning it, but decided to pack it to go in case it tasted better reheated. My grilled shrimp with lemon and baked potato with sour cream and butter were decent. The shrimp were so-so flavor wise, but they were well-cooked. The cocktail sauce was unusual, not terrible, but it wasn't my cup of tea. My boyfriend tasted it and agreed that it wasn't like typical cocktail sauce. My baked potato was good, if small. My boyfriend's sirloin steak had an interesting, sweet glaze to it. He commented that the meat was overly-tough, though it tasted good. His side of red-skinned potatoes was pretty good, though. Since we hadn't had the best meal, we didn't opt for dessert. Overall, The Factory didn't give us much reason to return, so it's doubtful we will. read more

Here's the skinny: my mom ordered the Open Face Prime Rib...it was 1/4" thick and cooked into a slice of shoe leather. I ordered The Rueben and specifically asked the server if the corned beef was "fatty" or not (?), and he assured me it wasn't... *sigh* Literally the fattiest corned beef I've ever had, like, it was barely edible. That's it re. the food. Now, re the drinks...they were nice stiff pours and quite a bargain! Seriously, we sat in the lounge and couldn't believe the value! Perhaps that's their formula? Thanks to the Hyatt Place front desk staff she recommended this awesome local restaurant that has people hugging each other at the front door and inside even with the bartender. Other words it is a local place and I was happy to be eating there before close after a long day of flights to get to Fort Wayne. Blue Cheese Wedge salad was awesome. The Ribeye steak with asparagus hit the spot with their peppercorn sauce. The sports bar area was my choice with the games on TV. Our family was in town, so that my son could attend a college ID camp for soccer. Not having eaten all day and not really sure what was good in town, the hotel staff recommended Don Hall's Factory Restaurant. I was a little unsure about coming here after reading some of the other reviews, but I was not disappointed in the least. As a starter, I tried the Loaded Baked Potato Soup, which was to die for. The star of the show, however, was the Raspberry Chicken. I almost ordered something else, concerned that the dish would be too rich for me, but it wasn't. It was soooooooo good! I would recommend that you order the wild rice with it as a side. It definitely pairs well with the chicken. (I almost ordered a potato side instead and am so glad I didn't. ) My husband apparently still had room after finishing off a very large prime rib dish, so he ordered us a slice of the Salted Caramel Cheesecake to share. I absolutely had no room, but I managed a few bites. They were bites of pure heaven!! I also enjoyed a glass of sweet Riesling with my dinner that was incredible as well. Not only that, but the glasses of wine here are very generous. Finally, I would like to note that the staff was friendly and courteous and thoughtful about wearing a mask. We came here for lunch and it was kind of busy, and we were a large group if 9 people. I understand that service dimin when there is more people in á table, but I've never experienced something like this. First to take our drinks order took around 10 min. Then food another 10. Food was good...I can't complain. I got the salmon with mashed potatoes and it was ok. The server had taken my knife, so I requested another...luckily the salmon was soft and I did not use it. Stopped in for lunch Sunday. We started off with Fort Waynes finest bloody mary. Had to eat our way to our drink, can see why this is under the starters. It was spot on. Next we had five cheese mushrooms, they were yummy and cheesy to say the least. The salads we had with our entrees were large and well garnished, but my GFs salad had way to much dressing. I'd ask for dressing on the side if you are getting the house salad. My greek salad was just right. The homemade bread was great. Then our entrees came. I had the Whiskey Barrel Sirloin with a potato cake as a side. Sauce was a little sweet, but yummy. Steak was done perfectly medium as I requested. The potato cake was a nice superise and will be getting it again. GF had the Chicken Herb, was a generous portion and seasoned and cooked well. Her side was potato cake as well and she enjoyed it. We both took leftovers home. We also had good service. Two great bloody marys, an app to share, and two entrees was $74. Was a fair deal for the price, food, service, and atmosphere. We have been here many times with family and have always had a great experience. Yesterday we were going out with a large party of friends. We were originally a party of 10, but one couple had a sick member. We made reservations two weeks ahead, and We had called ahead to adjust our reservation size with no issues, and were 15 minutes early for our 6:30 pm reservation time. When we got to the front desk, the lady at reception was ignoring guests arriving and spent a good 5-10 minutes answering the phone and making other reservations. She couldn't find my reservation; we finally worked it out, She said it was only under my first name. And said that was all they had. But I remember giving my full name and phone number every time I called. We were seated on time in the room next to the bar. A larger party was also in the room already. Things went downhill quick. We shared one waitress with the other party in the room. She took forever to bring us water; much less take our drink and appetizer order. We watched the other table get their appetizers, salads, drinks, and food delivered long before our appetizers and drinks arrive. Our appetizers, firecracker shrimp and a cheese dip were very cold when they arrived. The drinks took longer to come and we had to beg and remind our water and sodas to get filled. Salads and soup were not too long in coming, but we found a pitcher of water she left next to the bar after refilling the other table to refresh our own water. Soda refills were not happening until the party next to us left. Entrees finally arrived after being there for almost 1 1/4 hours and all of them were lukewarm at best. We continued to struggle with getting soda and water refills. It was good to see friends, we stayed until almost 9 pm, but the service was a real problem. I usually tip much more than I did, but for the service given, I tipped more than was warranted. I am not going to do this again. read more

Don halls factory is a nice old school Fort Wayne spot on the north side. The dinner features, from steaks to salad are all typically good and reasonably priced. The bar has a pretty awesome vibe, and can be a fun date spot or business cocktail easily accessed from the highway or nearby hotels. If you're a Bloody Mary fan, then this is about as famous of one you could find here locally. It's even featured on the appetizer menu. I love the makers mark pork chop as my go to dinner. Lots of solid options here, and it's nice to have a Hall's on the north side of town. read more

So we've been coming in for years for the appetizers and bloody Mary's, and sometimes dinner. And the quality has always been pretty good. But... We've seen the Bloody Mary prices rise from $6 to now $9 over the past few years. And some of the signature items light loaded bake potato soup and the complimentary bread has slipped just a bit. Not even sure what that new white bread is. And little things like table candles with burnt down to the stubs at the tables. All in all still a good place to eat but I can't call it great. I went alone, seated at a dark table in the bar area.  There were only 2 other occupied tables and I asked to move.  After sitting down the hostess came back and said I had to move? A completely rude woman came and and slammed a water down.   Then oddly a young guy came by and took my order.   The food is OK, nothing great.  I ate my salad, the plate sat there.  I ate the prime rib, the plate sat there.  I ate the dessert, the plate sat there.  I waited quite a while and he finally brought the check. The oddest part of an odd experience, the hostess was now sitting on one of the lounge chairs on the way out with her legs over the side.  She looked up and said "have a good one." read more

Pretty average, was my first impression of this place as far as steakhouses go -- nothing remarkable and not exactly a place I would ever itch to go back to. The interior is somewhat dingy and maze-like, such that it gives you some pause trying to make your own way out if you are in one of their private/event rooms somewhere in there like I was. The menu is fairly straightforward since it is somewhat small/not much variety. Most menu options come with a "free" boulette or two of rustic garlic parmesean bread for your table, but I can't speak to the quality of these as I've lately given up all grain. A friend at the table commented that they weren't very good, though. I ordered the ribeye steak, rare, and I was very underwhelmed to stay the least. I think the main problem was that, nearly-insanely, the chefs did not season the meat at all beyond some sort of weak garlicky sauce splashed on top. No salt, no pepper -- or if there was, it was too little to notice. I would understand this choice if this was some sort of ultra-expensive or premium cut that had some sort of inherently savoury, exotic fat marbling -- but this ribeye certainly wasn't that. The end result was a bland, mostly-tasteless steak, which is a real accomplishment with a ribeye -- but that is again what happens when you don't put so much as a dash of salt on there. read more

Had a party of 15 on Saturday night!! It was fabulous, had a wonderful table all window front!!! All the drinks were amazing and no complaints from anyone about anything!!! Decided to give it a try and was NOT disappointed at all! The food was excellent, the service was wonderful and overall just the experience and ambience was great. Even the bathrooms were so clean, cute, and nicely decorated. The French onion soup was yummy and the prime rib philly cheese sandwich (I asked for a side of AuJus) . My friend ordered the herb chicken with mash potatoes and roasted veggies! We ordered their freshly baked desserts to go with a scoop of pecan ice cream. For dinner, I decided to try the prime rib, as it was recommended from a friend. You have the choice between 14, 12 or 10 ounce. I decided that the 10 would be plenty for me, that it was! I order the salmon salad all the time at the Factory. I have never received such a small portion as I did tonight. Seems that the Factory has changed their portion sizes for this dish. The manager was very polite and friendly and said that it shrinks when cooked. My scale measures 1.94 oz... Kind of meager for a $14 salad/meal. I remember much larger pieces of salmon on this salad. I wonder when they changed?? Anyway. The manager was really nice and gave me a free meal which I probably won't take. I wish they would go back to the original portion size or lower the price.... This place never disappoints. Great Food Great Booze Great Service Great Prices You'd pay 3 times the price for food like this in Chicago. Yes, there are a few quirks. Like, I've never had Beets in a Greek salad. And I've had plenty of Greek Salad. But in this version, it works. There are a few surprises like this on the menu, but each time I've encountered one, it's been tasty! I wish they would make the "Ahi Tuna" Appetizer available as a main course.
