I ordered 2 soft tacos. The cashier said that lettuce and pico de gallo come with it. So I ordered the ground beef flour tortilla with the above and sour cream. When I got home to eat it I noticed after the first bite that it was extremely bland. Meat wasn't seasoned enough and there was NO cilantro in the pico. I called and spoke to Maria who said that cilantro isn't added to "their" pico. This message is to Maria and especially to Juan Martinez (owner) - please pick up a recipe book or better yet Google the definition of pico de gallo. Otherwise just call it diced tomato and onion. Oh and by the way - stop using garbage ingredients - tomatoes are in season right now - use them !! Stop getting all food ingredients from Restaurant Depot - they are of POOR quality. read more

Absolutely terrible. The food was bland. The order was messed up. The tofu was literally just a sheet cut off the block. Flavorless trash. There was a piece of meat in someone's veg salad. Can't say enough about how disappointing this meal was. read more

Don Juan's makes excellent empanadas. In addition, their catering prices for a taco bar are very reasonable. Today I tried quesadillas for the first time. Also, very good. I did however pay $2 extra for steak and 2 of the 4 quesadillas were more cheese filled than anything. Definitely skimped on the carne asada. No excuses but It was lunch time and pretty busy. I really wanted to love this place since it is so close to my home. I wanted to be fair so after 3 occasions sampling pretty much all of the menu I was sadly disappointed. The salsa is extremely watery and flavorless. However I had the pineapple salsa today and it was very good. The rice and pintos flavorless. The guacamole just ok, today is was brown in the bottom of my small container. The empanadas ok but uninspired as was the burrito, taco, and salad. Mexican food is complex and flavorful. You will not find that here. I understand what they are going for but are missing the mark. read more

We love Don Juan's! So happy to have this restaurant in this area. The very first thing that impresses me is how clean everything is. The counters, the tables, the floors...this type of atmosphere gives you confidence that an equal amount of care goes into the cleanliness of the kitchen and food prep. All of the workers are incredibly kind and helpful. All the condiments are always full. Garbage is emptied. The food can be described by saying it's ultra fresh, simple and healthy. This restaurant does not have a ton of bells and whistles or eclectic ingredients-but for great quick Mexican you won't be disappointed. If I were to suggest one thing that has been a point of discussion is the neighborhood is the closing hour. We are in a township full of working families, sports families that often eat dinner late...the closing hour of 8pm is a bit early for some customers. Not sure if it was a bad day or what! The only thing that was semi appealing were the churros. Everything literally tasted like Taco Bell. My husband and I couldn't even get through everything. We spent a total of 56 dollars, for the family, and I couldn't be more upset about it. I think we'll pass on ever returning here. read more

We went out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some good Mexican food and unfortunately couldn't be more disappointed in Don Juan Mexican Grill in Macungie. First we walked into a DJ playing disco music at a loud volume , not Mexican music at a dinner volume. Next we experienced 4 bartenders behind the bar , one worse than the next. Drinks were served in plastic cups, when you were able to get any of them standing around to serve you a drink. They were more concerned with putting tattoos on their cheeks and handing out Cinco de Mayo freebies than serving customers. We ordered appetizers and never did anyone come back to ask for our dinner order. We finally got up to leave and asked for the check. We will never go back and would be surprised if this restaurant makes it, horrible service, mediocre food and drinks and a total waste of money. For the record, I have never put a review on Yelp but felt that compelled to let others know just how horrible our experience was tonight. read more

This place was recommended by a friend, so I went with high expectations. Having grown up in the American Southwest, I guess I have my own ideas about Mexican food. This place is a mom and pop Chipotle-like experience. The proteins are bland. The salsas are bland. The guacamole is bland, in a tiny serving size. Two burritos and one order of Teo fish tacos with three drinks and a side of guacamole came to $40, including a 15% tip. Ouch. On the positive side, the chipped jalapeños in my burrito were nice and spicy. The veggies were fresh and vibrant. The place seemed very clean. I dumped quite a lot of hot sauce on my burrito in an attempt to revive the flavorless shredded chicken. The pinto beans were barely seasoned. I don't know. If you like Chipotle, you might love this place. I will stick to cooking my own Mexican food until my next visit to New Mexico or Arizona. Three stars for freshness and cleanliness. Minus two for lack of flavor and authenticity. read more
