My family and I visited Don Juan this evening and enjoyed our experience! The service was average and the food was great. We had 6 adults and a toddler at our table and each had a salsa (aside from the babe), which was super nice! Came to Don Juan on cinco de mayo and they were pretty busy but had some good happy hour deals. Our waitress did go above and beyond for us and told us about all the specials. I got the chicken fajitas and they were good- maybe would have liked a bit more pepper to chicken ratio though. The rice and beans were also good. My favorite thing was the made to order guacamole. It was so fresh tasting and I was able to get jalapeños on the side. The jumbo margaritas for happy hour were a good deal (5.99 for 22oz). read more

Food: 5/5 We got the appetizer beef queso. It's about what you can expect, queso cheese and ground beef. My grandma enjoys it because it's not spicy and she likes their beef. I'd like a little more lettuce personally but I love the edible salad tortilla shell. Service: 5/5 business was slow, so the service was great. They've added quite a few new dished to the menu. All of them looking very appealing. Among them was a very tasty and H U G E serving of Tilapia and shrimp named Pescado Cancun. It had 2 whole tilapia fillets, a good quantity of large shrimp, steamed fajitas, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion slices, and mushrooms, with a large portion of rice. Alexa is waiting on us today, she's friendly and patient as we figure out what we want to eat. We came here for a little snack between the wedding and reception. Ordered a Corona and a Michilada, chips and salsa and queso flameado. We did get small hot salsa, it's spicy and good. The queso looks good, had some of the veggies, the cheese is not on our current lifestyle diet. The queso has chorizo, bell pepper, mushroom, onions with cheese and 3 tortillas. The Michilado is made with hot sauce, Dos Equis Negro. We also ordered some mozzarella sticks, they are crispy and go well with the Michilado. Service is good, food is decent as well. Honestly, I was disappointed. My family had dinner there this evening, motivated by the presence of a coupon and the chance to compare the food to our "usual" go-to Mexican restaurant. To start, while the chips were warm, they were bland. The salsa was good, but not great. We ordered an assortment of combo items, and nothing stood out as being great. The flavor simply wasn't there. The tamale was dry. The enchilada had good cheese on top, but was just okay. The chile relleno--usually a favorite--was just good. Average. Easy to find with an upscale feel. Warm chips, yummy salsa and friendly staff is absolutely the best way to start off. The menu has everything you would expect at any good Mexican restaurant with a few extras thrown in here and there. My server, Christian, was great and I never had to wait for my refills! Thank you Christian! I had the Tacos Al Carbon and they were fabulous! I have been twice now and had consistent experiences with food quality and staff. I started giving them a three because accidents happen, but when I think of the resolution, it wasn't good. Ordered Door Dash. Food arrived quickly which seemed great. Took maybe a half hour when the estimate was 60-70 minutes. When the food arrived it was spilled all over. That's not their fault though. I started putting our food onto plates and I noticed a hard, sharp piece of enamel or something in the rice. I called the restaurant right away. The manager gave me his cell phone number to send pictures. His response was that it was rice that wasn't fried enough and if I came back they'd give me a new one and an appetizer. Well, what's the point of Door Dash if I have to go there AND it wasn't rice. I explained the piece better and then got a response that it was just a flour tortilla. NO! I know what a flour tortilla is. It's not as thick, hard, or SHARP. I appreciate that the manager tried to replace the meal and offered an appetizer, but I lost my appetite. Plus, I was slightly insulted by the fact he said it was rice, then a tortilla. Well, let's talk about the food. There was a reason it arrived so quickly. First off, it was difficult to eat because I was afraid of cutting my mouth on something. I skipped my rice and beans. I had a crunchy taco and there was nothing crunchy about it. I'm not sure the shell was completely fried. My enchilada was also undercooked. The red sauce they use is very yummy. But no one likes to eat undercooked food. My husband had a dish that was steak with sautéed peppers, onions, and tomatoes. He said the flavor was good, but he was disappointed in how fatty the steak was. He said it made parts of it tough. I've yet to find a Mexican restaurant around here that I love. I likely won't return here and will continue searching. read more

I cannot wait to go back!! Came here on a Saturday evening. Wasn't packed and snagged 2 seats at the bar. Nate, our bartender and server, was the BEST!!! Highly recommend a casamigos margarita (22oz was perfect size that got me through our chips/salsa starter and dinner). We each had enchiladas; best I've ever had! I've driven by here a million times, we love Mexican food and heard good things, so it was time to try it out. The hostess was very friendly and prompt to seat us. Our waitress was also super friendly and quick to get our drink orders. My husband got a tall beer and I got a grande strawberry daquiri. They weren't kidding with the grande. It was 32 ounces of pure sweet goodness! The housemade chips and salsa were good, the salsa was semi chunky and heavy on cilantro which I love and the chips were good too. As for entrees, I got the Burrito California with steak rice, cheese sauce and guac and he got the combination plate of burrito and tacos (all with chicken). Everything came out super fast and was very fresh tasting and delicious. It seemed to be a slow night and it was pretty quiet with excellent service. Great place for a date night. read more

My family and I came here on a Saturday night. The place was PACKED. We had a party of 3 and were told we would have to wait 15 to 20 minutes. And we only had to wait about 10. The tables were cleaned very well between guests and weren't wet. The host asked if there was anything we needed right away and we said "no" and he told us our server would be there shortly. A random person who did not say anything to us brought us a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa. She spilled some of the salsa on the table, which I did not care for, but the chips were warm -- the salsa was okay. Our waiter came over about 15 minutes after we were seated -- we thought maybe we had been forgotten about. We gave him our drink and food orders at the same time because we thought we might not see him again! I ordered an unsweetened iced tea. I have no idea how they made this, but there were granulated solid things in the bottom of my cup that didn't appear to be tea leaves and tasted terrible! First time I've ever sent back tea -- our waiter couldn't figure out why I wouldn't drink it which annoyed me to no end. For food, I ordered a combination plate; tostada, burrito, and something with that super dark, yummy, spicy Mexican sauce with the chocolate in it. The food was great! Came to the table piping hot! I ordered the chicken and it was well seasoned and juicy. We ordered the sopapilla (sp?) for dessert and it was nice and crispy. The ice cream that came with it tasted freezer-burned with lots of ice crystals in it. If I order that again, I think I'll skip the ice cream part. Overall -- the service sucked (but they had a packed house on a Saturday night), the food was wonderful, and order water to drink. read more

I've always hoped that Brighton would get a good Mexican restaurant. I had no idea that Don Juan was here. I've been here twice since I found out it was here and both times everything was great!!!!! The restaurant is off of 23 and has easy parking. The staff are all extremely friendly and professional. Both times I ordered the Guacamole Fresco. It is a must have. It's so good. Their house salsa is great and you can ask for a spicier one if you prefer. The Queso is delicious and thick and creamy. I added some of the spicy salsa to the queso and that was also really great. The drinks are delicious. The first time I had a daiquiri and the second time I had a strawberry mojito. I've had the fajitas and the rellenos. I'm really picky with my rellenos and these ones were really good! I will be eating here all the time. If you are looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the Brighton area, this is the one! Or even if you are driving on 23 and just looking for somewhere to stop and eat--keep it in mind. 5 stars from me, it's my new Go To Dinner spot!! read more

Worst service we have ever had here. If you get Angie as a waitress beware. She is slow and very rarely comes to see if you need anything. She doesn't know the menu and did not advise items the kitchen was out of until we were ready to order then had to pick something as they were out of what i wanted. Order mexican chili and asked for just chili and cheese nothing else added to it. it came with raw onions and we advised her she sorry she did t know that, told her we didn't want it and they still try to charge us for it even though it was wrong and we couldn't eat it. Finally got it off the bill. never had poor service like this here will think again before coming back. read more

I came here with my husband on a Sunday and it was good but... They do beans OR rice. Like wtf? I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't do beans AND rice. My husband really liked his tacos. My carnitas were good but a little dry. The beans were good. We had margaritas and they were really good. Chips were a little weird, but the salsa was good. Our deserts were decent. They used cheap chocolate syrup which was too sweet and kind of ruined my sopapilla. Service was great and it was in a great location. Lots of stores and a trail to walk after you ate all your food. Overall we liked it and will go back but it's freaking weird that they do rice or beans, just give people smaller portions! read more

Group of 9 went on a Sunday night around 7 for birthday dinner. our waiter was so nice and accommodating. The food was so fresh and amazing, drinks were delicious and service was excellent . Some coworkers and I came here from happy hour, I had assumed it was the same as the location in Waterford ( definitely the better of the 2). The other waitress was either new or just a IDC attitude. When we asked for the happy hour margaritas (both wanted medium size strawberry) . Waitress said "only small are on happy hour and only lime) when I questioned it she said "well I don't really know, sorry" so ok we ordered lime and small. She brings us the drinks and they tasted too sweet and tasted like sweet and sour mix was the only ingredient. We took one sip and sent it back "explaining it tasted off and not good. She took the drinks back but in a couple minutes the manager came over questioning us insisting that this is how they always make it (again maybe at that location) but he questioned us again and had me try a sip of another one that tasted just as gross. It made the group feel uncomfortable. Chain wise just skip here and head to Waterford location. read more

We never come out this way but had to for work reasons and we were very impressed. The restaurant itself is very authentic I loved all the little details they did. The staff was very nice we went during a lunch hour got a seat right away. Julie was our server she did an excellent job! She was patient while we decided on what we wanted and made sure we were taken care of. The menu is a bit overwhelming they have tons of options. We got queso for our free chips, that was delicious. I got the chicken chimichanga lunch combo. I thought the chicken was a little dry but the cheese sauce and salsa made up for it. We finished with the cheese cake and ice cream.
