Like shrimp? Like Mexican food? You need to eat at Don Kamaron. Yes, it's a bit spendy (although less than it appears because the portion sizes are HUGE). Yes, you'll need to dust off your pidgin Spanish to help you order (we were the only customers who weren't fluent). But AMAZING Mexican seafood, really only equalled by Mi Lindo Nayarit in McMinville. They don't take reservations, but it's a very big place and even at 7pm on a Friday we were able to get a table right away. Be warned, though, that if your order goes in after any of the huge tables celebrating quinceañera you could wait a while. It's ok, it takes at least an hour to work through one of those margaritas anyways. Oh, and yeah, they have non-seafood items on the menu. No, you shouldn't order them. If you have a no-seafood person in your group, maybe skip it. read more

We came in at 7:45 right after a group of 12. We were asked to sit and wait. 2 more groups of 2 and 3 came in after us and were seated immediately. I had my husband ask the host/waiter what was up with the wait and she said "oh how many people?" And we just walked out. We waited 15 mins and were completely ignored. read more

This is the place to go to have a good time! It is very busy, but the service is on point and staff is super friendly. We skipped the wait and sat at the bar, and some of the drinks that the bartenders were making were pretty awesome! It was a great show. Very upbeat, lively restaurant. Prices are a little steep for the neighborhood area. Drinks: We had the strawberry margarita, and the mango margarita and they were both flavorful. I didn't notice till after- they have a margarita sampler and must try next time! And looking at their menu, look up the patron tower.... It was decent. Not my favorite Mexican. Maybe the drinks and the seafood selections are the real winner but I got a traditional chicken enchilada with rice and beans and was just underwhelming for the price. Salsa was good. My partner and I came during happy hour, we ordered the molcajete and ceviche with fish. The service was quick and the staff were all very sweet and welcoming. While we waited for our food they brought chips and salsa. The chips tasted fresh, crisp, and the salsa was the perfect amount of flavor with a bit of spice. The molcajete was packed with food, the sauce was sweet but mainly spicy. On the side it came with beans, rice and tortillas. The ceviche was refreshing and tangy. There was plenty of food for the two of us and we ended up taking home half of the ceviche. The space was decorated so cute and was bigger than I expected. I will definitely be back and I'm looking forward to my next meal! read more

My partner and I have this thing where we try out a new spot in search of the best molcajate dish. We came to Don Kamaron on a Saturday night close to 8pm and there was a 25 min wait. Seeing how packed the place was, the line of people waiting to be seated only enticed us more! When seated, we were greeted with the best customer service i've received in a long time! Our waitress thanked us for our patience, and was personable with us through out our entire time there. We of course got the molcajate. Chicken, Steak, Chorizo, and The best shrimp! The cactus and cheese were perfectly cooked. This molcajate has made its way to #1 on our list and we have tried many molcajates. The hot cheeto sushi was good too but wouldn't necessarily re order. We got shot of whiskey that were poured at our table and filled to the tippy top! We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. read more

A true gem. Don Kamaron is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Oregon. The service is next level. The food tastes so fresh and the drinks are delicious. Considering this is a sea food Mexican restaurant- the prices are very reasonable. I order the Mojarra Frita every time. It reminds me of the one I ordered when I was in Chiapas with my friends and it brings me back every time. Highly recommend. The ambiance is family friendly and very clean. Start with chips and salsa, I like salsa, has good kick and flavor. Fish tacos were good with salsa, shrimps tacos, two shrimps per taco. Shrimps were good size and crispy. My husband and I had plans with friends but got stood up. So we were all dressed up with nowhere to go. He offered to take me out just the two of us. I wanted oysters as I had been craving them for months. One quick search on Yelp led us to the place closest to us and still open at 8pm. When we arrived we saw that half the tables were full of customers on a Sunday night. We got excited that this place must be good. I ordered a cocktail and it was perfect. The servers were nice and accurate with our orders. They brought free chips and salsa which is great. I liked that the salsa wasn't the usual pico de gallo like other places. It was a tasty, orange salsa. I ordered the Sarandeados and the fried tilapia. They were both so good! The oysters were fresh. Yes this place is expensive. Everywhere is nowadays. But my husband and I had a wonderful time and are eager to go for our next date night. We are happy to add this restaurant to our list of favorite places. read more

It's one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in Portland. But the reason I can't give it 5 stars is because something has changed. it's not as good as the first time. They do have great drinks, though, my favorite is el Cantarito. The service was great, and the ambiance was chill. People celebrating TVs playing sports and music jukebox are available. Let me tell you this is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever experienced in my entire life of 24 years no disrespect to the server because she did well but whoever was in the back cooking should be ashamed. The salsa was watery with no flavor and the meals only had white cheese (So if you got a burrito it's only with white cheese). I just don't understand how someone could enjoy the food.
