Gotta be honest... The bad reviews had me worried. I was expecting to walk into a nightmare, but that was far from the case. Upon entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by a clean and well decorated dining area. The buffet looked amazing and fresh. I chose the buffet, as it looked so appealing. All of the items were hot and tasty. The quality and flavor was as good as any other Mexican restaurant in this price range, and far above most buffets. One minor complaint was that there was no Flan. The fruit, however, was fantastic. Service was professional and very friendly. The staff was pleasant and attentive. read more

The receptionist who acted like maybe one of the business co-owners was very rude at the start when walking in to pickup an order, she acted as if she didn't have time to deal with a customer coming in to pick up their order. read more

I love good Mexican food from all regions of Mexico. So when I find a good Mexican restaurant in Middle Tennessee, I always like to tell people about it, because there are too many bad ones here. I had the Chili Verde and the Chocolate chimichanga which were both great. It was probably the best Chili Verde I have had in Tennessee, but the chunks were smaller than I am used to. Their Lunch buffet looks great so I'll have to come back again and give it a try in the near future. read more

We just moved to Columbia from Murfreesboro, and while Columbia is quite a change, we did find comfort and great food here at Don Pepe's. Literally the BEST Mexican restaurant ever. We get the Golden Margarita pitcher every time and it's FANTASTIC. The food is always super hot and delicious. The staff is continuously friendly and their service is super fast. Love this place! My husband and I had lunch there while visiting some folks in Tennessee and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality cooking and preparation to serve such tasty food. We were both doing vegetarian this day (we are minimizing how much meat we eat). Anyway, back to my review. You know how you ask for something stuffed with veggies and they do just that "stuff with veggies". Problem is that they do nothing to the veggies before stuffing them in. Here they must marinate and I know they grilled my broccoli and peppers before stuffing. The flavor of the veggies were fantastic! I don't remember the name of my dish but it was a Chimichanga with broccoli, peppers and cheese. My husband got a spinach enchilada and yes..another winner on seasoning. Our waitress was so cute and she hugged me when I left. I wish my own children were as friendly to me! Anyway, I digressed, this place is definitely worth stopping in to. Pleasantly surprised at how good it was! The salsa actually has spice and a smoky flavor- unusual to actually have a little heat around here! Chips were flavorful and queso good. The cheese enchilada tasted just like a 1982 metal tray TV dinner - and I mean that in a fabulous way!! Mom's Taco looked super fresh with very green lettuce. The bathrooms were clean. Neither bathroom stall in women's restroom lock. Initial time for drinks took a while and the waitress couldn't speak English. Cheese dip we had to cut with a butter knife where it wasn't hardly melted. My meal was ok, not horrible I guess. My wife's meal wasn't exactly what she ordered and it wasn't that good. read more

Being from California and enjoying authentic Mexican food from a variety of regions I describe this as less than average "Gringo" food for the undiscriminating. I stopped eating anything here but the EXCELLENT Guacamole. Best on Columbia and made fresh at your table. I hear the Margaritas are made with fresh fruit juice...not being a drinker...I haven't sampled them. For authentic in Columbia...there are others that satisfy. read more

The last two times I've been disappointed. My taco salad only filled up half the bowl and I only got a half of a slice of tomato. Servers appear to care less about your experience. This has happened twice-you ask for your check and to go box and the server disappears. We waited 10 mins until I went to the front to get theme box and the check. Time to make the f****** chimichangas. I started coming here during the FIFA World Cup and was impressed by the friendliness. The food is your basic Mexican fare but what strikes me is the service. It's always good. Just please stay stocked up on the Jarritos. I first had some chicken with chorizo on it which was pretty good. The chorizo honestly could be better (they have WTF good chorizo at the Mexican restaurant at Epcot in Orlando but I mean come on it's Disney freaking World) but anyway the chimichangas were good and isn't that all what we really need in life? After 30 minutes of waiting they decided to tell me they didn't have the ingredients to make my meal. Had to settle for something else, then the store owner came over and asked what the problem was. I told her that I didn't get what I ordered and had to get something else. She was very hostile in telling me that I got food so what's the deal. No appology, nothing. She also told me to never come back to the store after asking if she was joking if she didn't see the reason why I was concerned about my order. Best Mexican restaurant in the area...and I've tried them all. For starters, the fresh-made guacamole is as good as it gets. The salsa and chips are equally good. I had the Grande Burrito for dinner and it was perhaps the best burrito of any type I've ever had. LOADED with marinated chunks of steak, refried beans, guacamole, rice and pico. Then its smothered with cheese and a wonderful red sauce. And it was HUGE! I could only eat half of it and brought the other half home. My wife had the Taquitos and raved about them. Everything we had was extremely fresh and flavorful. And the prices were very reasonable to boot. You can't go wrong here! read more

food isn't bad but the service is terrible, did a to go order tonight, got overcharged for the meal, I caught that but then got a nice surprise when I got home as they had left an order out of the bag, nice, if you have to eat here dine in and stay away from to go orders, the portions in the to go boxes are smaller and cold. but on the plus side I received a nice small cheese dip for my trouble when I drove back to get the rest of my order. Told her I would like a fresh order cooked instead of picking up the 30 min old meal, don't believe that happened either so 3 strikes your out. My family and I have been coming here for years. They are usually very friendly and quick. Tonight we were there for 2 hours (arrived at 6:30, left at 8:30) it took us 30 minutes to order and an 50 minutes for our food. Once our food arrived 2/4 orders were wrong so those had to be sent back. Our waitress who was obviously new wasn't ready to be on her own. She didn't speak much English and couldn't understand us so we were having to point to what we wanted, several times another waiter, who we have had a lot who is great, had to come help her. What was the icing on the cake was when we went to go pay. I had queso on my bill but we hadn't ordered queso, the girl who checked us out said "How was everything?" I said "slow, we come here a lot and I've never had such slow service " she rolled her eyes and said "We've been busy".. which in all honesty they weren't slammed, I've been there when it was much busier and received quicker service. I then said "We didn't have any queso but it's on my bill" she grabbed the bill, ran my card and slammed my receipt down. I said to my friend, do you see the manager? This is ridiculous- the girl came out behind the counter and said "Mom, and nodded my way saying something to her about me". I think the managers name is Maria, and she's always been very friendly and kind. She was on the phone so we just left. I just won't be back. Next time you're short staffed in the kitchen, which was obvious, be up front with your clients and explain the wait. Our waitress never even came by to refresh our drinks, see if we wanted more chips/salsa etc.. but the utter disrespect from the managers daughter is why we won't be going back to Don Pepe's. She needs to learn to check her attitude and maybe customers aren't always right, but I said nothing rude or hateful, I was honest and said service was slow and she was rude and hateful, my daughter even said she was rolling her eyes at me as she was running my card. It's a shame that that behavior, especially from the managers daughter is tolerated. read more

Not a fan. This place used to be pretty good when it was located on the Nashville Highway. It wasn't an ideal location for a restaurant but ever since they re-located the food and service quality has taken a significant nosedive. Have been here a few times. The second time we waited 15 minutes after being seated until we left to go somewhere else. The last and final visit to this restaurant we had a "call in" order. When my wife picked it up she was greeted with hostility from the older lady waitress. Apparently "call in" and "Collin" are the same thing and my wife did not know "Collin" also had a call in order. This upset my wife and created a very awkward moment when the lady rung up the wrong order. Strong language barrier from her. Then I was told the prices had went up the week prior and that is why the check for 1 meal was nearly $20.00.
